new 3ds XL system question

finally got around to opening up the 3ds xl i bought last month. There were a few things i found odd that i wanted to check in on

1) there was no little plastic screen guard in between the two screens... considering the regular 3ds has screen scratching issues when it closes thats disconcerning. I still keep mine in my regular fire emblem 3ds! Is it supposed to be missing this? And if if it IS, then did they fix that problem on the XL?

2) it makes a really loud click when you open it to the open positions. Is that normal? Its not a light click its a loud almost pop sound

can anyone let me know whats up with these issues? I may be returning it anyway since it has a little smudge on the lower left corner of the touchcscreen that i cant seem to get out with a cloth or canned air. That will cause issues trying to put the screen protector on so if i cant get it off im gonna have to swap the damn thing out

so those loud clicks are normal then? THanks, that answers question 2 but anyone know question 1? Is it supposed to be missing the little foam divider the regular 3ds has to protect the new screen? Mine didn't have one. And does this have the issue of the screen leaving lines on the top screen like the regular 3ds or did they fix that? I see the link62t put up but that seems to be a regular 3ds

The XL has the same problem with the screen. Get the rubber feet to avoid it.

 
My 3DS leaves greasy little lines but I've never had any scratching problems. I think it would take some effort to scratch the top screen.

 
hmm.. some yes's some no's. I guess i better just get the feet, or find some divider for it like i do with my regular 3ds. Which brings up the other part of the first question which no one answered: Wheres the little foam screen protector? My 3ds and if i recall old DS's all came with a little foam pad between the 2 screens when they were brand new. The 3ds XL DID NOT have one. Is that normal? I guess i'll find out soon since i exchanged it today but im not opening the exchange for a few days, Is it supposed to be missing that divider?

 
mine didn't have a divider. I haven't experienced any problems with either screen in the 4 months I've had mine, but the very first thing I did after opening it was placing screen protectors on both screens, its tedious and requires patience , but well worth it.
 
If your really worried about the screens, get a screen protector. That was the first thing I did when I got both my 3DS and XL vers. Hori is the brand I'd recommend.
