Multiple Tales games were announced for Japanese release, including the oft-rumored Tales of Symphonia sequel for Wii.

The Wii game is NOT the "Sword of Legendia" that has been bandied about for the Wii for a while now. ToS: Knight of Ratatosk takes place 2 years after Symphonia, and appears to use the free run battle system introduced in Abyss.

Also announced:

*Tales of Innocence for DS - DS is now the lead system for the Tales franchise, following in the footsteps of Dragon Quest; hopefully it will be better than Tales of the Tempest and shows up in the US this time.
*Tales of Rebirth ported to PSP
*Tales of Destiny Director's Cut (presumably to PS2)

Yeah, lots more buying for me, since I'm a Tales fan. :D I still want Tales of Destiny 2 (PSP) to come stateside more than anything (then Rebirth to follow).

Great news. Symphonia was perhaps my favorite Cube RPG. The graphics in the above screenshot don't really thrill me, however. I haven't played Abyss, so I'm unsure what this "free run battle system" is you speak of, but the combat part of ToS was really the only thing I had against it when I began playing. It eventually grew on me, but it still wasn't my personal preference.

From what I can understand, Abyss let you run around wherever you wanted on the battlefield as opposed to Symphonia which had you running in a straight line in relation to the targeted enemy. I don't really remember that being the case, but I haven't played it for a good year or two.

It's too bad I already have Rebirth but if it's localized I'll probably get it once I can get it at a somewhat cheap price. It will probably be the same if we get Destiny with the extra content and if we ever see Destiny II here even though I own that as well. ~_~

Can't wait for Tales of Innocence or the sequel to Tales of Symphonia though. Sadly, after having played Tales of the Tempest it's hard to get excited for Tales of Innocence. Hopefully it turns out better.

I would sacrafice my first born for all of those to come stateside.

Well, ok, maybe someone else's firstborn. But I would do it!

If it does come stateside, means I'm buying me a Wii for sure this year. Fire Emblem is almost enough to do it, but since I don't have ANY next-gen systems, I was gonna get a 360 first.

The Wii graphics look kind of like the DS graphics. BUT WHO CARES?! It's a freakin Symphonia sequel! YAY!

Why does the Wii game have just about the exact same graphical quality as the DS game? :wall: Lazy ass developers...

I hope the PSP port of Rebirth comes here. Make it happen, Sony. Maybe then I'll buy your system.
A sequel to Symphonia? Did I read that right? Also, the Wii graphics look kinda sketchy, but I would be willing to deal.
Might just be me, but it looks like they ditched the cel-shaded graphics. Maybe that's why it doesn't look so good.

I loved the cel-shaded look in Symphonia, it's what got me hooked in the first place.
Hehe, as opposed to?
Skies of Arcadia Legends which was my favorite Gamecube RPG. ;)
Symphonia was a close second, so I'm really looking forward to this direct sequel. I can't wait for it to come out in the US.
Goddammit, looks like I might have to buy a Wii after all. Was Tales of Rebirth any good? Which team made it?
ToR is considered to be one of the best Tales games. Tales Studio made it too.

The problem with Tales of the Tempest is that Namco outsourced the game to Dimps, who messed the game up. Tales of Innocence is outsourced to Alfa System, makers of the Tales of the World games. Namco says DS is the lead platform for the Tales series, so it should be good.

Now that it doesn't look like Tales Studio is making Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk, I'm considerably less excited. Looks like it might be the Legendia team.
