Never heard of this game but I tried the demo and wow. It looks like an old animated film. Reminds me of the brave little toaster. For $2 I bought it and hopefully it ends up being good.

I try to keep up with demos that get released from time to time, and that's why I knew what it was. The demo was pretty impressive though it took a bit to get used to the platforming. I ended up watching a video review of it just to confirm that it's well worth my time. $2 is nothing, I went ahead and got it as well. Even Deku Deals shows it on their first full page dedicated to Hottest Deals ( https://www.dekudeals.com/hottest ) .. and review scores are in the 80's.

I think the thing that is critical for NSW2 is going to be how necessary or required they make the Nintendo Online + Expansion paid annual subscription. It is getting more expensive than ever to game on consoles. The fees and accessory costs are piling up. Consoles are experiencing dwindling relevance in the market when it comes to needing to have one particular brand. If people feel like they are required to have a Nintendo sub, or repurchase their games, and when they still have a NSW1 version choice, lots are going to drop them or not adopt the NSW2.

Growth is stagnant. No one is racing to the store to buy new consoles anymore. After getting gouged, and with supply shortages for years. Prices are going up on Playstation and PS+ across the world. Gamepass membership too. Hardware prices are not coming down like they used to. Plus with all of these machines being digital now, customers feel it less necessary to upgrade immediately than ever. They've trained us to 'not shop'. buy service. Having new tech is also unimportant. I don't know when that changes again, but the feeling of 'needing the newest technology' is less prominent than ever.

There aren't fewer people gaming. But individual consoles are losing people. There are all sorts of different devices to choose from now. Shit, people are gaming Netflix and other browsers now. Customers don't have to pay the exorbitant subscriptions, and often choose the singular one they like. Not to mention our global economic situation spawned by only one person, Thanos Man-God. It could really hurt Nintendo if they make their online service feel required. People in general aren't subscribing to multiple video game services, they just aren't. I know we have a few on here but that is far from the norm.

Mario Kart looks to be a vehicle designed to push Online Access. Think about the different corporate reasons why they chose this as their debut and bundle game. all the signposts are there. you are really missing the signs if you don't realize they are ramping up the feeling of an online subscription requirement. Game chat is paid. While Nintendo is debuting infomercials acting like they invented Game Chat. It's WEIRD.

also there are no white people on the Direct game chats lol.

I do know one guy who pays annual membership for every console and platform. He also sleeps on the floor of some other dude couple's basement. I'm not kidding.

On the subject of indies, I bought Eternal Radiance when it was on sale recently, but I haven't really played it yet. I wanted to get into it last night, but there's a lot of dialogue at the beginning and I never got into any gameplay before I had to turn in for the night.

pro controller 2 now at $85. Oof. Probably not worth the premium over v1. Especially when considering v1 works on all Switch consoles where v2 only works on Switch 2.
Yeah, I mean the original Switch pro controller was good, this looks like it’s an improvement but if Switch 2 is also going to be open to compatibility with any Bluetooth controller (which it seems like it will be), there’s lots of better options for the same price or less.

The Pro2 being $10 more than original Pro seemed acceptable. A $5 increase over that, I’m still likely getting one. I’m not going to sweat $5.50 (adding tax on). The 256 Gig card at $60 is unchanged, that’s what I’m targeting since internal is 256gig so half a terabyte combined. That should make going digital easier. If I go for the bundle… $500 + 85 (pro2) + 60 (256gig) = $645 + 64.50 = $709.50

That’s a pretty decent chunk of change. Like almost half of a weekly paycheck.

While I don’t have to budget like when I was younger since i have no debts and own my house outright (once I make my payoff payment next week), I still like to keep my yearly gaming under a single paycheck. This will leave me about $500 for games after everything I’ve bought so far this year. Again, it’s a self imposed limit. If I blow my budget it just means my savings for the year will have a few less dollars. If I end up under budget, it’s not like I, going to blow the left overs. It’s just nice putting a line in the sand.

If Nintendo was "maintaining" pricing, then shouldn't they have been the same price as announced and not increased? Did the word "maintain" get a new definition recently?

It was $449.99 and $499.99 at announcement too, that is the same price.

Edit: Oh, I see, you are talking about the controllers and stuff, that looks like an extra bit based on tariffs. You can thank the white house for that one.

I have bought 2 Switch Pro controllers with Dell bucks over the last few years, so if they stock the Switch 2 Pro controllers, I will get them free anyways from Dell.

They opted to play the long game then under the assumption that a deal will be struck over tariffs. Unsurprisingly, they shifted those costs to peripherals to preserve their own forecasts. Their direct yesterday didn't sway anyone's opinion of pricing which was likely the tipping point for this announcement. What is mindboggling is how blind they must think people are to eat up anything that is years behind the industry as 'new'. Ripping off Forza Horizon's features and claiming it's worth a $10 premium over the exact same game mechanics is bullshit.

Oh and in case you missed it, that MK bundle for $500 is limited through fall. This Christmas, there's a new Scrooge on the block.

Congrats on the final house payment! Only 4 years into owning our first one. Payoff seems so far away lol.

Nintendo just invented 'Game Chat', okay?

It allows you to talk to all your multicultural, non-white friends faces over Nintendo Online.

I can't wait until a day1 story breaks where someone puts googly eyes stickers over their penis and gets into a 24-player match with chat enabled.

I keep having issues placing orders at Gamestop. I want this squared away before the preorder date because I know if I try the order won't go through. I keep getting "Your order can't be submitted, try again later." Originally my bank flagged an order last night as a fraud, but I got it cleared up, and I called my bank 5 times and they said there's no block on Gamestop, there's nothing preventing an order from going through. I called Gamestop just to make sure they didn't flag my account or card and they told me it was fine. So not sure what's going on.

Anyone deal with this and if so how did you get it resolved? I even tried placing an order using a different device and tried the app and same issue.

If you are doing it on wifi, try doing it on your phone with the wifi turned off and use incognito/private browser or reset your mode/router for like 5 minutes. Might be a soft ip ban

They're going to release in the time frame when the current tariffs on China, if they hold, will start having impacts on the consumer level. It takes several months for ripple effect to hit the everyman due to how international supply chains work.

I'm surprised (and wrong) that they didn't raise the price. It's a bold play from a traditionally extremely conservative company, let's see what happens.

Another dock costing $120 is absolutely a rip-off, though.

At least more are coming. I'm going back and forth on getting it for Switch or Xbox. I've been most every RPG for Switch (unless there's a big performance difference) but the novelty of having it physically on Xbox is strong.

And there a ps4 option .. I see its unavailable there too.. I'd like to get Switch & Ps4 Copies.. it seems like there won't be many more physical ps4 games being produced anywhere.. could Lunar be the last Physical Ps4 game ?

Yeah, I was just personally not considering getting it for PS4. And I highly doubt it's the last physical PS4 game. There's still LRG and, oh yeah, all the sports.

No. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is out in May on PS4. I have that pre ordered. There are probably a few more too.

Even more arrogance and greed😡

Online I'm seeing so many people budgeting for accessories. I ain't buying any of that shit. glad my Pro controllers would still work.
Yea, I spent $16 for my Switch Pro controller from Amazon Warehouse and plan to use that. If it is true that this does not wake up the Switch 2 I may eventually get a Pro for that too when I can get one cheap but probably not.
