I think these are those clearance games mentioned coming in the other TRU ad thread. These prices go into effect Thursday December 22.

EDIT 3:These prices should be good to go Thursday. I checked the other stores markdown lists in my area Saturday and all of them had the 9.98 games. I got a friend's scanner and posted a page from the markdown list. I hope this works.

Hey benboxer, don't worry about it. Tons of us picked up great titles for an extremely low price in this sale due to your information. When my girlfriend opened Zelda Four Swords and Final Fantasy 1/2, she was absolutely thrilled! Not to even mention all of the other games she got and my sister is going to get when I see her. Thank you very much!

However, if the news about Geist not being on sale is true, then that disappoints me as Toys R Us falsely advertised. The ad clearly says Video Games on Sale, and has Geist plainly pictured. Of course selling Geist at its normal MSRP of $49 does not constitute a sale. I am not sure as to the normal price for Metroid 2 so am unable to comment.

I am tempted to drop by my local Toys R Us to see if there are any changes in Geist. Perhaps some price change was added to the system late. Heck, its all electronic, anything can happen with the POS Registers. I have to go out to EB Games anyway because the supposedly brand new Gameboy SP I got my girlfriend for Christmas to go along with her new games, has dirt underneath the screen!

Well it's a good thing TRU was still closed after I was done at BestBuy this morning. I was going to price adjust MP2 and Geist, and see what Psychonauts XB was ringing up as. ::sigh:: Another time, Geist. So returns ye shall be.

Thanks for the heads up about the rest of the sale, though, BenBoxer! But at the same time, my bank account hates you.
 
Awsome post picked up alot of good stuff, anyone who is picking on the OP for a few mistakes needs to find a new site a true CAGer would be loving life for the awsome deals availible.

Honestly, you guys can't blame Ben for the misinformation- i've printed out that sheet too, and it did in fact say exactly what he said, Geist and Metroid Prime 2, $9.98. Whatever corporate monkey made the list messed up along the line.

As for why games like GT 4, Geist, and Baten Kaitos are pictured in the ad?

Can't get rid of em. No way no how; the 104 copies of GT4 (or 171 copies of SSX 3 XBox) have been collecting dust in back for some time now, they think this might get em to move.
 
In my store, both Geist and MP2 were on a table under the "$4.99 and up sale" sign. But rung up for $50 (Geist) and $20 (MP2). :whistle2:(
 
Thanks again for the 12/22 info, OP. I'm pretty irate at TRU for advertising both Geist and Baton Kaitos as being on "sale", when both rang up at their regular prices. I'm not saying that every game pictured should be $4.99 or anything, but they should at least be priced below what they normally sell for.

(As a side note, one of the TRU managers informed me that they had over 50 copies of Geist sitting around collecting dust; he seemed just as irked that the price drop didn't go through).

My TRU re-stocked some GBA games. They had about 40 Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls, 30 Mario Pinball, 30 Donkey Kong Country 2, and 30 or so F-Zero GP Legends.

This deal is very much alive.

Okay first off, everyone needs to carefully reread the last few posts. Not a single harsh remark was made toward benboxer the original poster. Even though all of us found out his mistake was right, and Geist/Metroid Prime 2 were not part of the sale, everyone thanked him wholeheartedly for the information in the first place. No need for anyone to get crazy.

Okay, here is an update for the Metro Nashville area people from the Murfreesboro TRU.

Right as I was about to inquire about Geist, a hoarder was in line with a shopping cart ahead of me. This guy cleaned any stock that was left for Gamecube/Gameboy almost completely out, plus some Xbox Games.

He got:
4x Final Fantasy 1/2
10x Golden Sun
8x Doom 3
3x Unidentifiable Game, looked like Megaman Red
3x Fight Night
I don't remember how many copies of F-Zero GP Legend
2x Virtua Quest
2x Bloodrayne 2

There was a huge line building as he checked out. Me and the guy ahead of me were giving him dirty looks, he saw us and slyly grinned as he said "Well, I atleast left one copy of every game." Of course that was complete crap as he took all of the Final Fantasy and all of the unidentifiable game (thats why its unidentifiable, but it was a red box with a blue and red logo, from a distance it looked just like the Megaman box so thats why I think its that game).

What I found saddening in all of this is that apart from me and this dude, everyone else there were parents with their kids looking for some games. The place was fairly packed, and this jackass took so much for his ebay greed. It was the first time I had seen hoarding first hand, and it gave me a sickening feeling. Oh and by the way, his list looked like the one at Fatwallet.

I'm mostly a PC Gamer and only own a Gamecube and Game Boy, so I am really lost when it comes to which games are good or not.

Ehh let him take the stuff. If he's stupid enough to come to the sale four days late and hoard the games that tanked in value on ebay, let him.. he just hit a huge loss. Haha, he didn't stop to think that there's a reason why those games were still there.

I went to 3. None had ANY of the Mario Partys and they said all Mario Partys were sold out long before the markdowns. But hey, I picked up a new Mario Party 7 with the mic for $25 new thru the classifieds yesterday! I'm keeping it. :)

By the way Metroid Prime 2 is $20 most other places, it's been $20 at Wal-Mart since before Thanksgiving i believe.

I really enjoyed timesplitters. The singleplayer campaign is a little short (I finished it in under 5 hours), however, its got alot of extra modes. Honestly, its my choice for the best FPS this year.
 
I swang by after work to check on Geist, and I got as far as an inquiry, now I see why, no big deal, I've been denied before. The cashier told me they still have RE4 for 10, but I already own it. Picked up a copy of Wario Ware for GBA though, so it wasn't a wasted trip.

I know, Karma and all, he'll get his.

Still, it gave me a queasy feeling in my stomach seeing all of the kids there trying to find some cool games. Some of those kids would have really enjoyed stuff like Golden Sun, Final Fantasy, and the Megaman Red game. Heck some of those kids may have enjoyed Bloodrayne 2. ;) For us as adults its different, we know how the world works with assholes and disappointments. But its just completely not cool to do that with kids.

Anyways, Scorch I looked for a copy of Metal Slug Advance for you since you had changed your mind about the whole DS thing. Unfortunately they were out. I haven't had a chance to check it out either as I've got to go take back my girlfriend's GBA SP to EB Games because it has crud underneath the screen (and its supposed to be brand new).

I just got back from my TRU fairly disappointed when I learned for myself that the "$5 sale" is hardly a sale at all. The Sunday ad is totally misleading, it seems to imply games are going to be $5 but ring up at normal price. I did score a racing wheel for $10, so I am satisfied. TRU had a bunch of the racing wheels ( > 20) left at the San Mateo store.

Except that Geist (pictured) didn't drop in price; it's the same price it's been since it was released. And Baten Kaitos (also pictured) hasn't come down in price in at least six months. It's a misleading ad.

Yup - i just got a copy of Pikmin 2 and Psychonauts today. They had more of each, and i think i saw Metal Slug 4&5 as well.
 
OK just got back from my TRU. I got the following for $9.98 each:

Fatal Frame II XB x2 (1 up for trade)
Geist GC x2 (1 up for trade)
Metroid Prime 2 GC

The manager in the R-zone said the Geist and MP2 whould have been adjusted in the computer, so he re-adjusted the price.

i dont get it i just went to TRU and nothing went down in price like geist, area 51, LOTR third age, etc. why arnt some of the games gone down and others have?

the prices aren't as marked, you have to have them scan it. Only certain games on certain systems went down. Area 51 on XBox will ring up for $9.98, whereas the PS2 version will ring up for $29.99 or so.
 
i did that and it still didnt work, am i suppose to go to a guy and ask him to ring it up on a computer to get that price adjusted? Do you think its a good idea to bring the pictures off this website showing the list of all the games being marked down in prices?
 
My TRU price adjusted both Geist & MP2 to $4.99....I had read here before going that the price had not dropped so I was returning them for a refund. When I mentioned that the ad was a little misleading the CS rep asked if I would keep them if she adjusted the price. So she did (with manager's approval as well)

By the way, I noticed Geist was only $19.99 at my Best Buy as was Sigma Star Saga for GBA - I had planned to use a BB $10 off coupon on Sigma but no need as it turns out and I didn't need to sweat a crushed box or some other problem with Gamefly where a used copy was $12.99 or so
 
Just came home from my TRU.
I was hoping to score either Shin Megami Tensei game... but they didn't have any.

I got Pikmin 2 and Final Fantasy 1+2, so I can't complain. Hooray for sales!
 
i was taking back a package of DVDs today at best buy when there was a dude in front of me with 5 PSP games.... Walks up and says they dont have a recept and Best buy gives them a gift card... The stupid ass tells the person working right before they leave...


Person : WOW i got 200 bucks credit and i only paid 50 bucks for these at TRU...


the manager was standing behind the BB worker and you should of saw the look the manager gave to the idoit....


i was really shocked that Best buy would touch any games without recept... the worker told me that take almost anything back as long as its sealed the day after xmas...
 
I just got back from my local TRU and used the picture of the games in the ad marked "$4.99 and up". I managed to find someone at the customer service desk to manually mark down Geist for Gamecube AND Psychonauts for Xbox to $4.99 each! I was just praying the whole time that she wouldn't read the "and up" part of the ad...
 
Went to TRU. I got Winning Eleven for Xbox. I was surprised with how much stuff was left. I saw Metal slug 3,4/5, Pirates, Doom 3, Pariah, Haunting Ground, Killer 7, King of Fighters, and a lot of Winning Elevens. Additionally, they put Juiced and Geist in a "4.99-9.99" bin. Well, when I went to the counter, they were full price. I should've known better. The stupid cashier then looked at me like I put the games in the bin. Oh well. Oh, I noticed Flatout was added on the list. I brought the XBOX version to the counter, and I think the cashier scanned the ps2 version, which was 51.49.

My question is, did you happen to take pictures of the violence that ensued?
 
Yea that would have been picture worthy. But yea i heard thats the case with best buys. They will take any game that they carry back even if u dont have a reciept for store credit. Some of my friends use to snipe clearances to "return" them to best buy to buy other stuff they wanted. =/ shady. But it works.

that was the case years ago BUT they stopped doing it.. hell they wont take anything back even it has the Best buy price tag on it if you dont have the recept.. that is why i was shocked they took his games today

no it wasnt me.. I was standing in line behind the dude... They said they did it today Cause it was the Day after xmas and the return policy is not really enforced.... I was saying i was shocked they took this dudes games cause i know for a fact they dont take back anything without a recept.. ( got Star ocean a few months back for 19.99 and even though it still had the BB sticker on it they wouldnt take it back when i tried to return it months ago..

I guess the day after Xmas they take anything back.
