Super Mario World actually does demand a bit.

Only thing I found worthwhile this weekend was a complete in box copy of Comix Zone for the Genesis for 50 cents.
I guess I was spoiled from working at a small used game store :whistle2:#
Gotta love Comix Zone, I'm so glad it's on my PS2 Sega Genesis collection.

The only thing I found this weekend was a ten cent shot glass from Branson, Missouri.

well i can;t top so of your deals but last sunday i hit up the flea market and got crash team racing for gamecube complete for 2 bucks. not a great deal but gamestop sells it for 17.99 so i think i made out alright

Here's a "first" for me.... some, er, big woman with her kids in the project had a crate full of "Big Black Booty" VHS porno tapes.

Can't say I'd be comfortable buying (or even selling) porn at a yard sale.

Things like that are the reason I have a big bottle of hand sanitizer in my car.

That's pretty funny. I've seen smut at the flea market before but usually with something covering it up and at least saying not to look unless your 18. At yardsales I've only ever seen Playboy magazines.
I don't know what's worse: the person selling porn at a yard sale, or the person buying porn at a yard sale.
Funny, because I recall reading on the 2005 (could be 2006) season page on your website you and Dom buying porn magazines from the 70's. xD I'm not joking by the way.

Well, there's vintage porn and then there's, well, this.... Any Playboys that have lasted 30 years obiviously weren't used for their purpose and could be considered 'safe.'

Plus, I don't think even hand sanitizer could get the filth off from touching the other ones. Sometimes a thorough hand-scrubbing is required.

I've seen a few people with old playboys. I've seen them at this one sale several times. Next time I intend to see what ones he has. One of my favorite scifi authors, Arthur C. Clarke, published a few things in Playboy during the 60s. I'd just have to figure out which ones.

I'm just enjoying the irony of someone named sp00ge being grossed out by... well... spooge.
I'm just enjoying the irony of someone named sp00ge being grossed out by... well... spooge.
That's a misconception of my name, actually. Sp00ge was originally coined as a technical term, pretty much meaning a garbled bunch of data output that makes no sense. Splooge, on the other hand (no puns, please), was the term for the money shot. But thanks rto pop-culture and the internet, they've since become one in the same. BTW - I've been using this handle for about 15 years.

And on the subject, I'm not gonna handle another man's load. No way, no how. BLEH....

Congrats on the Saturn...good price too. I was in a similar situation last summer. I found a cheap rf switch on ebay or amazon...cost me like 6 bucks shipped. An a/v cable would probablly be better....expect to pay more for it than what you did for the system.

thanks! i'll be checking for a cable. could i just use a S-Video cable or does it not work that way? some lady had a system before with a bunch of games (13 or so) and hookups but she was asking 30 for it. lame. most of them were sports and i doubt i'll play it often so i didnt want to dump that much down. hoping i can get this thing up and running.
thanks! i'll be checking for a cable. could i just use a S-Video cable or does it not work that way?
unfortunately, you'll need a specific cable, it's a 10-pin mini-din if i remember. outside of Ebay, i've found them to be quite hard to come by. an S-video cable won't work at all. if you're willing to suffer the considerably lower-quality image, the RF unit for the Saturn is a little more common online.

you can make a proper one yourself from an old composite cable and "something" with the correct pin-outs (like the aforementioned RF unit), but that's more trouble than it's really worth. head to Ebay (BLEH!), or keep scouring those yard sales/flea markets. one'll turn up eventually.

An OK but not great day.

$2 ea:
Silent Hill 4 Xbox
Sonic Heroes PS2

$0.50 PS1:
King of Fighters 99
Road Rash Jailbreak
Twisted Metal 4
Crypt Killer (never even heard of this game)
Dukes of Hazzard

$1:
Ecco Tides of Time CIB

I left my phone number with a lady who said her son had a bunch of "combat" games for PS1. She called a few minutes before I got in but I missed her. Hope she calls back... if not, I will. Could be sweet if there are any 2D capcom games in there.

Well it's been about 3 or 4 weeks and I have not really found anything worthwhile to post about, except maybe a copy of Rez and Kirby's Air Ride that I picked up for $5 a pop. But today was a little better

1001340tx9.jpg

1001339zv0.jpg

1001338bk9.jpg

N64 complete w/6 controllers, memory cards, rumble packs etc.
16 SNES games and 1 SNES controller
20 N64 games
short stack of instruction manuals for some of the games
TOTAL: $10

After a morning of nothing I decided to call it quits, but decided to stop at my local conveinance store for a coffee. I saw a sign in the window for a YS a few blocks away and cruised on over. I got there and asked for games and a teenage girl said she had some old games and went inside to get them. She came out with a couple of boxes which I did'nt even sift through after seeing a N64 w/ a half dozen controllers and a hefty stack of games. I CIF'd $5 but immediately knew that it was gonna be shot down by the look on the girls face. Before she could say anything I whipped out another $5 and said OK I'll give you $10 which she took kind of reluctantly. A lot of the games are dirty and have stickers and marker on them but will clean up nice. A couple have some label damage, but for $10 smackers I can't complain. Especially since I there was a Mickey's Speedway and Paper Mario in the mix.

You did it again.. A N64, The expansion pack, Two copies of DK64, One of the banjo games, Paper mario, SM64 and other games. I really have to print out those cards to hand out.

Another day of nothing but crap. Saw a PS1 with no cables or games, FFVIII GH, and a PS2 bundle with racing and army games. Made an offer of $5 for one of the controllers with the PS2 (there were 3), but they wouldn't take any less than $15. The whole bundle was $70, so by their prices, a PS2 with 6 games would be... $25? Boy, I should have offered that.

Wow, great haul.
I've never been that lucky, but I'm not giving up.
Does anyone know if many people have yardsales on sundays, too?

I don't usually see too many in my area on Sunday. You just have to check the ads. If the sale has been open since Friday, there probably won't be too much.

For this weekend, I only visited a few sales on the way home from class and didn't get anything. There weren't very many sales anyways. I did get a free movie ticket from the Red Cross for donating blood, so the weekend wasn't a complete loss.

For those of you who come home with 20+ games after a day: Do you actually play them all, or do you put them in storage and never look at them again? Or, do you flip them on eBay?

Not nocking anyone at all, just curious.

There wasnt much today. Saw Vagrant Story and Chrono Cross, yet when I opened up the cases they were empty. Also saw FFIX disk 3 mixed in with some cds. And some overpriced gc games (Need to get the cube first ;))Missed some sales, hopefully they'll be setting up tommorow also.

Well I have more than 800 games and I don't play them all. I just collect them. :)

I try to play every game I get. Even if it's only for a few minutes.

A lot of stuff I find I turn privately or on ebay as well as add to my own collection.

I have several customers in my local area which I mostly met through Craigslist by advertising games for sale. I have their want lists and on more than one occasion have bought stuff at YS's and before I even get home make nice little profits by dropping stuff off to them that they had on their lists. I certainly don't get ebay prices but then again I do not have the hassle.

More popular games go on e-bay.

I hook up my kids and relative with systems and games. Recently I gave my 6 year old nephew about 20 genesis games and the look on his face was priceless. The look on his mothers face was pricelss too becuase at 6 he's already a skilled gamer just like his uncle and his father (my brother). I can remember me and my brother gaming hours on end while his wife would bark at him "When he grows up he's never gonna touch a videogame" Yeh right! The kid was smashing bricks and bouncing on koopas at 3.

I also have tons of stuff packed away for the long term. You know someday they'll be grandchildren and at the very least will have a grandfather that will show them how to kick it old school whether they like it or not.

I also have stuff packed away that would fetch a decent dollar right now but because I got most of it dirt cheap I'm kind of time vaulting them and will probably bust them out for sale in a decade or 2

Cool, spotnocker. I've gone YSing a few times, but the best I've found was a complete SNES with Zelda: Alttp. And it wasn't even all that cheap. Everyone wants eBay prices now, and they think an original NES is worth $50.

This is probably what I would do if the YS around here didn't suck.. heh I don't live in a big enough area where you could go to 20-30 a day.. I can only hit up maybe 12 at the most .. and a lot of them are on Fridays now and I have to work and I always think that most of the cool stuff is gone by the time saturday hits around..

I would probably sell more games.. although I do do pretty good at the pawn shop I have yet to really turn profits.. its tough when you're in a smaller community..

but yeah.. its amazing what you find at YS, and yeah keeping them for the next generation is cool and all but I'd rather sell off the stuff now..

Nothing at all this week, had to cut it early to run errands before going in to work at 1.

But I did swing by GameCrazy and got a ton of disc-only games for the PSX - including two Devil Dice, the whole run of Digimon, an SNK RPG beginning with a K that I can't remember, both Monster Ranchers, and Jet Grind Radio for DC complete.

The SNK RPG should be Koudelka. Also, it's a four disc game, I hope you got all the discs for it.

Yes, thats it - and yes I did. In fact, I had never heard of it -- just saw them loose, and realized, "Four discs, must be an RPG, I don't have this one - not sure how it is, but its at least worth the gamble for $2.50."

To elaborate:

For my collection (PSX mostly, disc only)
Devil Dice
Digimon World 2
Digimon World 3
G-Police
Koudelka
Monster Rancher
Monster Rancher 2
Risk
Riven - all five discs
Strider 2
Wild Arms 2
Vigilante 8 (N64)

For trade/flipping:
Devil Dice
Digimon World (x2)
Digimon World 3
Parasite Eve II
Beetle Adventure Racing (x2, N64)

TOTAL: $48 and change after tax

Uh...between this and the GS 85% off deal...does anyone know of a good deal on a 150-200 count CD wallet?

I live in a decent sized city, but I still have problems finding game stuff at garage sales. It seems that there are a lot of ebayers in my area. I have to compete with them. I recently went to a sale that advertised games and started at nine am. There were people there at seven. Part of the problem might be that there aren't many sale in my area right now. When Aug. and Sept. come around, the neighborhood sales will start up again.

When it comes to what I do with games, I keep them for my collection. The stuff that gets the most money on ebay and else where, is a lot of the better stuff that I want to track down to play. I've played very few of the games I've gotten from garage sales. That's because I play a lot of rpgs and those take a lot of time. I'm looking for alot of the older snes and ps1 rpgs. I end up spending my time between modern RPGs and the older ones.

I'm a little envious of some of you guys. Fort Wayne doesn't really have any good thrift stores. We just have several good will stores. The pawn shops aren't very good either. The main one in town is the Cash America chain type shop. They don't take anything older than n64 and ps1. I basically have to make due with what I find at yard sales and the little I can find at goodwill.

not the greatest of days yesterday, but I managed to get a couple decent deals...

I went to this sale and saw no game items what so ever. I then walked by a table and noticed a pikachu plush. Usually when there are gomeing plushes, there are bound to be games as well. So I ask. As it turned out, they were under another item they had at their sale. I ended up getting 4 GB games:

102 Dalmations
Pokemon Blue
Pokemon Gold
Jungle Book

They were marked $3 each. Unfortunatly, the best she would do was $10 even me trying to CIF $7. The pokemon games can be turned around for $10 each though so it wasn't a bad deal.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/942866699/

I pull up to this yard sale and it is a huge car trailed loaded down with clothes and other misc items. I then spotted this SNES system and games. I asked how much for the items and the woman runnign the sale stated that the system was $15 and the games were $3 each. I finally got her to take $15 for the whole setup finally and I got:

SNES system complete
Pinball Dreams
Super Mario World
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Street Fighter II Turbo

It was not a bad deal on this setup but I have gotten better deals before.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/942865457/

This was an unadverised sale that I was really surprised about. I started milling around at this sale and then saw a small basket with some NES games in it. I pulled all of them out and then asked what the pricing was on them... A dime each. Needless to say I grabbed all 6. I ended up with:
Metroid
Contra (label is gone)
Bases Loaded
Super C
Back to the Future (Label is gone)
Super Mario All-Stars (SNES)
It was a pretty good $0.60 spent.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/942864633/

This was a sale really far out and almost had to have an offroad vehicle to make it to. I started looking around and saw a game boy case marked $5. I then decided that it felt heavy so I opened it up. I ended up getting:

Black GB Brick System
Wave Race
Toy Story
Dr. Mario
Alleyway
Kirby's Dream Land

I ended up finally giving $4 for the whole bundle on this item. It was a pretty nice deal considering other things I had seen this day.
First rainout of the season for me, how sad. And I will miss the next three weeks of YS between vacation and a wedding.
I fully intend to yardsale if possible while on vacation next week. =D It involves visiting family in FL from Tuesday 8/7 to Tuesday 8/14, with a Disney somewhere in between...and we never do that on weekends because that's suicidal.

I should start checking CraigsList local to their area...

Depends. If it's a Greatest Hits version, then you didn't get any sort of deal. Pretty standard store pricing for FFT. If it's the black case version, then you got a decent deal.

PSone Greatest Hits are supposed to be $19.99 at least they were in my area!

Picked up Alundra in Alundra 2's case, missing the manual for $2 at a thrift store. I was shocked and happy to find that the game was Alundra and not Alundra 2. :)
