I worked at KB Toys when those launched and sold a pack to a kid who opened it up and got a tinfoiled charizard. I'm pretty sure I witnessed the best day of that kids life up until then.

We initially had them at a normal 2.99/pack which then went to 3.99, 4.99, all the way up to 8.99 a booster pack, and we couldn't keep them in stock ! We had rich soccer moms coming in and dropping $70 on a few booster packs and my jaw was on the floor.

Wii Games $1 each. The Furu Furu one seems fun. I don't have a wii yet though. ;)
Not to belittle your find or anything, but... don't pick up a Wii for that game.

Don't even borrow a Wii for that game.

...don't play that game.

Worth a dollar though, you might be able to flip it for a small profit. Or if you're a hoarder, then you've got more stuff to hoard :D.

Hey guys. Just wanted to come in and complement the awesome finds and ask a question. I figure if anyone on this sub forum would have them, it'd be some of you guys.

I got a PS1 and a Dreamcast today with some games for $12 total. No great games or anything, but it was a good price so I said yes. The guy I bought it from said neither of the video cables for the systems worked. Well I tested the PS1 with 3 different games and it works great.

The Dreamcast came with a Nyko brand RF switch, which I assume is why the guy had trouble getting it to read. I would like to use this Dreamcast for testing purposes as I dont have one right now at all.. So my question is -

TL;DR, Does anyone have some spare Dreamcast Y/R/W cables? I would trade you a game or give you worthwhile cash for it:bouncy:

Floopy, are those Topps Pokemon trading cards worth much? A gas station here pulled a box of series 3 from the back the other day and set them out for 25 cents a pack. Things must have been in there for ages.

I only went out in force Thursday this weekend since there was a lack of sales. I ran into my Nemesis 3 times, but I was a step ahead of him at all 3 locations.

$6 N64 lot with a story:
Characters involved: The mom, her son, and her son's friend (who was apparently an expert on gamestop's prices). It is 90 degrees, the sale is on the driveway, and I was there for 45 minutes.

The sale advertised $2 xbox games, when I got there they had not brought any of the video games out yet. I waited and they pulled out a xbox 360 that they wanted $150 for. I said I am more interested in the $2 games that were advertised.

They pulled out a box and I started to go through them. I noticed a Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Xbox and asked how much. The kid said $5. I said "I thought your ad said $2 xbox games?" He replied "Some are $2, but that one is $5." So I take a look at it and there is no manual and it is scratched to hell (also a generic no cover art case). So I passed on it. Most of their PS2 and xbox games were junk.

They had a PS2 and an Original xbox as well. I ask how much and the Mom looks at the friend and he says "Those are $80 at gamestop. I check their prices everyday." The Mom says "we will sell it for $35." I said "what about the PS2?" "Those are $55 at gamestop" the friend added. The Mom said "$30 for the PS2."

I continue to look and I see a lone GameCube controller. I ask, "do you have any more GameCube stuff?" and the kid says "yes I have a game in the house." He comes out with Mario Kart and said "this one is $2". I was pretty happy with that, but of course it was not in the case. The Mom comes over an we explain it is a smaller disc then a CD and she said she threw it away this morning because she thought it was something else.

I pull out the KH game and ask how much. "That one is $3" I set it aside for now and look at the rest of the stuff. I then see a wii case in the bottom. It is Paper Mario. I ask how much and the kid said "That is a $5 game". I looked it over and it is pristine. I put it in my pile and the mom comes over and says "We are not selling the wii games. Those are too expensive and your cousin may want them" (mainly to her son, but also to me) and takes it and goes inside with it. At this point I am getting aggravated.

As I look at the GameCube controller and the Kingdom Hearts game I ask the kid if he will sell the KH game for $1. He said "That's fine". At that moment the mom came out with a small bag and set it on the table.

She said "We also have this N64. I am not sure if it works or not." I say "That is an OLD one, I bet they don't sell those at gamestop anymore!" I take a peek an noticed Pokemon stadium 2 and Mario 64. I asked "How much" and the mom said "I would like $10 for it". I countered with $5 since we weren't sure if it would work and asked her to throw in the GC controller. I paid my $6 ($1 for KH) and was on my way.

You have a lot more patience than me. When people start fluctuating prices like that it pisses me off. For $7 that N64 bundle was worth it though.
Totally off topic, but how the fuck did I miss the free games on PSN? I'm such a fucking idiot.
LOL don't go over to the PS deals thread and say that. You will be beaten and thrown into a pit.

I saw something about it (on CAG) before it began and then I didn't hear or see any discussion of it . . . period.

Yesterday, out of the blue, my daughter pulls out LBP2 and wants to check out the community levels. We hadn't been on PSN for so long (before the outage) that I had to help her with a sign-in and EULA.

Then I remembered the "Welcome Back Deal" and looked for it.

fuck fuck fuck . . . the last chance to get the games was just hours earlier.

It actually ended sometime after midnight on the 3rd. Then there was some backlash about the wording saying "through July 3rd" and Sony put it back up with the final date of the 5th at 9 A.M. Pacific time to avoid any more issues.

The PS deals thread was in a tizzy with some saying "you had a month, stop whinning" and the others saying "I wanted to pick up PS+ on the last day because I didn't like the current deals". Lots of name calling and other BS.

Its not a big deal to me because I only wanted Wipeout and I'd probably only play it once for 10 mins. My backlog is huge.

Still, a free game . . .

Good story slowdive, worth the wait I suppose. People like that are always irritating changing things every time they change their mind on the spot.

Someone from a previous garage sale called me today so I may get some games tomorrow to post here

Not sure if I posted my deals this week.

Hopefully I can get pictures up next week.

I was in Ohio for the weekend and thought I would hit up one of the community sales nearby. I ended up going to about thirty sales and a flea market afterwards.

First sale I went to had xbox original games galore. Dug through the pile, they were asking $3 a piece, I talked them down to $1. However, the games were disk only, and very scratched. I only found one worth buying (Although freedom fighters was tempting) which was Star Wars Battlefront II. I have been looking for a copy to play on the 360, since my PS2 broke quite a while ago.

Sometimes it amazes me what people think their stuff is worth. I saw a lady trying to sell her PSX slim for $20.

I also wanted to know. Do you guys run into a lot of "Drug store" yard sales? By drug store yard sales I mean the one where it looks like they have gone and cleaned out a drug stores inventory, and are now selling it at their sale. I came across one where they were even selling Benadryl, allergy medicine, and things like Advil/Tylenol. It is funny to see large stacks of toothpaste they are trying to sell.

Anyway, back to my finds.
I stopped by a large science fiction sale. Grabbed Halo: First Strike (book). I dug through the games and found Fallout: NV $5 and Forza 3 $3 (Forza looked awful, he said it had never been played, but I guess he didn't account for cleaning his toilet with it. The disc/case was cover in "mud". . I offered $6 for everything, which was accepted. I later opened up the cases later and found the original pre-order codes for each game, unused. Not a bad find, I sold F:NV for $15, and I will sell forza after I clean it up.

I also went to a flea market and found a copy Halo 2 for $5 in the "junk" xbox game bin. Believe it or not I had never played two. I have beaten all the others, but not two.

Short version for short attention spans (Come'on, just read the full version)

SW Battlefront II (Xbox) $1.00
Halo 2 (Xbox) $5.00
Forza 3, Fallout New Vegas (360), and Halo: First Strike $6.00

A lot of times, that shit is stolen merchandise, especially if they haven't hit the expiration dates yet.

I would be amazed if they stole all of the merchandise. they had table filling their garage, and the stuff filled all the tables. They had weird stuff also like shells and cheese.
It does beg the question how they get it all. I was thinking that maybe when a store closes, they raid it and buy all the discounted items and resell them.

You have to be careful with that stuff. Usually it's purchased in bulk just before or after the expiration date.

I've also ran into cases where people will be selling that stuff in flea markets and they turn out to be bootleg from China. One of the instances I ran into was razor blades, Gillette I think it was. Looked the same as what you see at the store except half the price. I mention it to one of the other vendors and they told me they were bootleg and pretty much everything they have were also bootleg. Told me the razors would have a rough cut.

They could be couponers. I always see people selling stiff they get at CVS by rolling over their Extra Bucks.

Tomorrow I will be hitting a far away territory. Hopefully it will pay off. There are a few sales listed that could be epic or could be total busts if someone beats me to them (or if they are high priced). ;)

People in my town always try to sell stuff like shampoo and other toiletries in bulk at yard sales. Working in a grocery store I can give you the reason - they exploit coupons before the store catches on.

Just 2 weeks ago someone did it. There was a buy one get one free for a high end shampoo/conditioner brand(cant remember, but they were $5 a piece). The ladies bought every bottle, because apparently when you buy at least $40 with the shampoo on the order, you get a $20 coupon that prints from the register. They would buy 4 shampoo, 4 conditioner(which were free because of the first coupon mentioned), get the $20 coupon, and end up spending a dollar or so for tax.

We had to take their order but the coupons were removed from all the stores because of those 2 women exploiting the coupon:/

That reminds me of when a gas station chain around my college campus had it where a coupon printed out for a free Nestle chocolate milk every time you bought one, but it still printed the coupon when you used a coupon.

I got one in the morning and one on the way home every day for over four months off only the original purchase until the promotion finally ended. The weird thing was, it added rewards points for each "purchase" so like every 5th day or so I'd also get a coupon for a free hot dog or fountain drink.

Probably the best $2 I ever spent.

So today I was able to pick up the games that guy called me about!

I paid more than I wanted by quite a bit because the guy selling said someone had offered him 30 for the games(even though he said he was holding them for me).

1001220a.jpg

I paid 40 for the 5 games. They're all complete, and all the discs are in mint condition. The cases however, are a little damaged:/ cracks here and there, nothing too bad but for 40 I was hoping for great condition stuff. Oh well, still worth it!

I have never seen Elemental Gearbolt or Rival Schools. I would love to find them.
Are you coming to Wisconsin?
I was about 15-20 minutes from the boarder. I dare not cross it! :)

I had a bad day today and it is not over yet. The sale I drove all that way for opened early. I was there at 8:35 and it wasn't supposed to start until 9 AM. I look around for the video games and can't find any, the GIJoes they listed are form the late 90s (not real american hero), and there are already 2 people walking away with rubbermaids full of toys. :bomb:

I ask about the games and they have no clue. Meanwhile one of the neighbors (who looked like a meth addict -which is always nice to be around) stops by and starts chatting with the lady running the sale. I tried to make conversation and mentioned the sale starting early and the lady gave me an attitude. I mentioned that I drove 35 minutes to get here, so I was a little disappointed the games were gone. Then the lady tells me they didn't advertise games.

I start to pull some items and I really get close to losing my cool. I ask if they had any more he-man guys, since they had a couple, and she said they had more but the neighbor stopped by last night and bought them.

At this point I went to my car to double check the ad and to get some water. I come back and read "Playstation 3 games, 360 games, Sega Genisis counsil and games" and read their address. I said "Is this the right house?" (and I didn't mention console was spelled wrong...Though I wanted to ;)) At this point the husband says we have some xbox games and went inside to get them. They were all junk games and the wife asks him about the "Sega". He mentions the neighbor also bought the sega with the games last night. fuck

I then found a TMNT case that said "$2 for all" I look in the case and it is empty except for a couple of weapons. I ask was there something else that went with this? She said: "It was full, but our neighbor bought most of them last night". So I ask "What would you like for it?" and she says "$2". I said "It was $2 when it was full!" At that point I put back pretty much everything I pulled and bought a couple of figures from her for 25 cents each.

Then I got lost when I was hitting a couple of other sales. I decided just to hit Best Buy since I don't get to that one often and they are picked over from the latest sale. They had shelf space for games, but all that was left were price cards and empty shelves.

I make it back home and hit a sale that had a PS2, GameCube, and some games, that someone else had already bought. I just checked Craigslist and noticed there were 4 sales that advertised games in my home territory today (of course none of them were listed last night or this morning before I left the house).

I then find out that Sonycard screwed up my rewards points for the second time for the same items, so I will have to deal with that again.

And last but not least, I have to pick up my parents at the Airport and their 10:50 arrival flight is delayed until 11:45 PM, so I get to leave for the airport soon, pick them up, drop them off, and try to get a few hours of sleep before tomorrow's sales.

Sorry people. I had to rant.

Picked up Elemental Gearbolt at a yard sale last year for $4. They advertised nothing but games and they were stacked deep. There were 3 such sales within a block of eachother last year in a town about 20 miles from here. There has been nothing like that since and my home town is shit for gaming anymore (unless you like Madden). Do any of you run across yard sales set up with nothing but games?

Sorry to hear you had a bad day slowdive. Im gonna hit up some liquidation centers advertising retro games tomorrow, as well as some yard sales out of the way. Maybe ill find some more stuff to post. Good luck this weekend buds:)

I forgot to add I saw The Punisher on Genesis, but the lady wanted $10 for it. It was a former rental copy with stickers all over it, so I left it. I knew it was worth money, but I didn't know they were selling for $20+ for that condition.

Today's summary:
I didn't end up getting home until 2:45 AM, got up at 9:00, but I got the "We had games this morning" comments. One lady sold an Atari, the guy brought it back saying it wasn't working, and then she sold the games before I got to the sale at 9:15. The sale started at 8:30. That just shows the level of competition in my area. :wall:

Another lady who told me she had an Atari yesterday "couldn't find it" when I came back today.

I left my number with 3 people for games.

I saw some nice games and systems (NES, 2 SNES, N64, Gameboy, etc) but the lady wasn't allowed to sell them (she called her son). I left my number in case he changes his mind.

Here is The Coup de Grace:

I blame my fellow CAGs in the thrift store thread for telling me about this system.

A lady said "You are looking for games? What about a CDi?"
Me: Do you have one of those? It is one of the few systems I do not have.
L: I donated it, but I had 40 or so games. I really liked Dragon's Lair and the other one like it.
Me: Space Ace?
L: Yeah that's it!
Me: How long ago did you donate them?
L: About a month ago
Me: Was it to goodwill
L: No It was the Vietnam Vets. They came up to my door and picked it up.
Me: I am not sure where they sell their stuff.
L: Me neither. I wish I would have known I would have given it to you.
Her friend: Don't tell him that. You are killing him!
Me: Yup. You are killing me. :fridge:Do you have any other games?
Her Friend: My husband has a 64 or something that he can dig out if you are interested. Can you come back tomorrow?
Me: Sounds good. Please put it aside for me. :)

Get some memorex jewel cases from K-mart, for 30 cents a pop you can't beat them (making Playstation double cases spiffy for collecting or resale).

Solid pick-ups too, you easily have three games for free there.

Just an FYI, it is stupidly easy to replace those cases. The two clear parts of a double disc case are actually just the backs of standard cases. You can pop them off the black piece easily and swap them out with new cases from Kmart (pack of 10 is only $2.99).

Well I feel like an idiot. You were all right:p I just swapped out some of the cases for the pretty looking new ones. Much better! Thanks guys

Sorry to hear about your troubles Slowdive . . . you've been on a roll. I'm sure you'll bounce back.

I had an excellent day with quite a few books and DVDs but almost no games. No time for details and I bought almost zero games but I made a big CD score. Classical music dropping $125 which could ultimately bring in 10X that.

Early on I found a MASH Martinis and Medicine DVD set and picked it up for $20. Later I got a second one for $25. WTF!

Going to host my own yard sale with some games.

How much should I sell an NES system 2 controllers, rf adapter, and gun? I also have ROB and games seperately

Just got a call from my dad(he's a big garage saler) and he picked up Kingdom Hearts 1-2 for $3 each, lots of new collector's edition Disney classics and Pixar dvd's for $2-5, and the best is he paid $15 total for an NES with 4 games and SNES with 4 games. I don't know the NES games, but I know the SNES games are Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, Mario World, and Killer Instincts.

ROB is easily worth $50 or more online depending on condition. Theres no way in hell that you'd get anywhere near that at a yard sale, though.

Good day everyone!

I had three yard sales specifically advertising games, so I prioritized them. The first only had some old crappy Xbox games. The second was a little better:

imag0042q.jpg

SNES w/ all cords and 2 controllers
N64 w/ all cords, 2 basic controllers, and 2 offbrand controllers
Diddy Kong Racing
Mario Kart
Japanese Mario Kart
3 Crappy Sports Games
- $10.00

The lady at that sale refused to sell anything until she had it all out on her driveway, so there were at least 20 people standing around waiting to see what she had. Once she finally let us in, it was madness... I beelined it straight to the games and pretty much ignored everything else... lol. This is my first decent video game haul ever!:bouncy:

Third video game sale, I see a box full of PS1 games and a pristine original PS1, a box with SNES games and system, and a GBA. I was pretty excited until I noticed the pricetags: $60 for the PS1 and $40 for the SNES. If the games had been something special that MAY have been worth it, but literally all of the PS1 games were demo discs, and the SNES games were mostly crap with a few exceptions, such as:

imag0044a.jpg

$3.00

I asked if I could buy a game or two seperate from the lot and she immediately looked angry. She said ok, I offered $2, she said $5, I said $3, she said fine... The box is in near perfect condition. The manual is a bit worse off, though.

After that was just random yard sales hoping for some kind of deal. About 5 sales later it started raining and people started packing up, so who knows what I missed... Here's what I got from what I could find still open:

imag0046u.jpg

Hayao Miyazaki Textbook - $0.75
Grendel - $0.75
Something Wicked This Way Comes - $0.75
Up In The Air - $3.00
Kick-Ass - $1.00

The lady who was selling the books had boxes and boxes of them, most of which were things I recognized from high school. I asked if she was a teacher and she smiled and said that she was, I told her how much I loved Grendel and was happy to have a copy, she had a giant grin on her face and as I walked away I heard her turn to her husband and say "Oooooh I just love when young people read!" It was cute, I'm glad I made her happy, lol. :applause:

:applause:
Hey, you live in North Carolina also? Where do you normally sale?

Anyway, on to my finds.

Yep you guessed it, nothing.
First sale I went to advertised games. I showed up at 7:45 (the sale started at 8:00) and some one had already been there at 6:30. The lady was selling an NES with six games all boxed for $40. I really considered it, but she would not go down, or sell the games individually. (Some guy on CL had told her they were worth atleast $50. Of course he had neglected to buy them. Lol)
I really wanted that complete Final Fantasy.

I would say that this has been my two best days ever for buying flip material.

Almost nothing gaming-wise but today I bought a ton of DVDs.

I went out of my way (quite a bit) to hit this:

THIS IS A HUGE BOOK & DVD RUMMAGE. OVER 1,000 BOOKS AND DVDS FOR SALE, ALSO OVER 1,000 VHS TAPES.
MOVIES, TV SERIES, FOREIGN FILMS (MOSTLY JAPANESE) WITH SOME ADULT JAPANESE FILMS TOO.
THESE ARE FROM AN ABANDONED STORAGE LOCKER FROM SOMEONE WHO COLLECTED BOOKS & MOVIES OF ALL SORTS.
MANY SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINES (AMAZING STORIES) AS WELL AS SOME OLDER (EARLY 1900) BOOKS INCLUDED IN THE MIX.

Unfortunately the books were mostly mildew victims . . . to the point that I wouldn't touch them. But I did buy a s-load of DVDs. Pics and details to come.

Had a few ups and downs today.

Went back to the donated cdi sale and they pulled out the n64. It had Mario64, Castlevania, and 3 other games. They wanted $35 for it. No thanks.

I am pretty bummed I missed out on a large, LARGE comic collection (40 longboxes, about 10,000 comics). I had to get a hold of my parents to see if I could store them at their house because I have no space to store them. The guy wanted $1000 for them. I said I would be more comfortable around $400 (which he didn't react negatively to). He said he basically wanted them out and doesn't have the patience to sell them piece by piece. I told him I would have to check with my parents about storage and I left on good terms.

After talking to my parents and basically working out a storage solution, I went back to the sale and he told me a guy offered $700. At first I thought he was just trying to test the waters to see if I would budge on price. I asked if they guy was from around here and he told me actually it was his neighbor. Sure enough, while I am there his neighbor comes over with a cart to start wheeling out the boxes. :censored:

Was raining til about 4 am here so I did not bother going out - especially since the rain was so bad the roads were all flooded last night for a bit. I thought that would make a lot of soppy messes at 7 am. Maybe tomorrow if I see some good postings.

Greenville and the surrounding areas (Winterville, Ayden, Grifton, Farmville). It tends to suck, honestly.

Okay, I live in Charlotte. I usually hit up the richer suburbs of Charlotte, such as Moorsville. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's crap. Depends on the week.

I found a Gamecube with 2 controllers / a memory card + 2 PS2 controllers and a stack of 7 fodder PS2 games. Paid $10, which was very close to the guy's asking price, and rapidly flipped to Gamestop for $25 in credit (kept the memory card though, I can use that)

Not much else to report except that I went to a flea that was very heavy on vintage comics (plenty of Batman and Disney--not my thing), yet I did see the following game-items:

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers the Movie (snes) - $5
Parasite Eve 2 (disc only, and only one of the discs) - $5
Gargoyle's Quest (gameboy) - $4

The condition on these were questionable so I passed, though I'm thinking there was some good stuff that got snatched before I arrived.

I haven't been wanting to go garage saling, and since the GF didn't start making a list last night, I thought we weren't going. She woke me up just after 6:30. Sigh.

We didn't find much, except a 2001 Spyro plush for $0.50 (worth $30-$40). Probably keeping it though.

This week my daughter has been going to a "theater camp" in Milwaukee which is about a 40 min. drive. On Thurs. I checked CL to see if I could find a few rumage sales to catch on the drive back. I caught the ad for the DVD sale (on Milw. east side--where I lived years ago). So, based on a good Friday and not much in the way of fresh Sat. listings, I headed up for the sale. I arrived at about 8:30 and there were a few other shoppers standing around. We all helped them set up books and I started to pull DVDs (ahead of the 9 AM start).

The stuff in the following pics cost me $180 . . . DVDs were $2 each but 20 for $25. When we talked money, I worked out $1 each. I paid $3-4 for box sets.

Most are for flipping but I'll hang onto some.

The only problems are finding time to list them all and storage.

I was going slow in pulling them . . . trying to let other shoppers get some. I expected a crowd but there were only a few people. I think he should've reposted to CL a few times.

Seems like mostly downs. Damn the comic miss sucks . . . at least you know you have the storage in future. I hate to say it, but you probably should've handed him money and worked it out later.
