Official CAG Destiny Thread - Rise of Iron

Sadly, most of my games come from LFG. I have to if I want to take things serious. My friends would rather play around & joke, etc, and I like accomplishing things in the game. They don't care if they spend many hours in a raid & don't finish it. I want to get in and out ASAP, as I can't earn experience there, so no point in hanging out there. My purpose for gaming is different than the people I started playing with, it seems. I like the thrill of victory & chasing loot. They use it as more of a replacement for telephone conversations, and the skill in the game takes a back seat for them. I have to find an efficient group that I can count on. I almost gave up on Destiny before I found out about LFG. Most of the people that are great, and I met through LFG, already have full groups & exact number of people to run things, so I have to squeeze in when I can. That is just very awkward. Yay life :nottalking:

Void Scout Rifle sighted in the PS3/PS4 thread

Last night I finished my 3 level 34 clears using the "Titan bubble followed by 40+ gjallarhorns to the dome strategy".  So I guess 35 is all that is left at this point.  Need to find a key for that though.  Hopefully will get one when I run the rest of these queens bounties this week.

Not sure what else to do in this game at this point.  One week In and all characters are 34.  No reason to farm any of the old raids at this point.  Maybe I will grab the rest of the new ghosts that I missed.

Got an Exotic Bounty on my first 34 clear last night.

Re-rolled Efrideets to have Last Round, Performance Bonus, and Field Scout with Arc damage. I had a lot of daily event packages on all 3 characters and moved the gun around to them and grabbed all those. So it was quickly leveled up and then I used an Etheric Light on it to Ascend. So 365 there and of course I ascended my Fang of Ir Yut.

34 was a cake walk. We did it the first time we ran it without wiping once. The 2nd run with different characters I messed it up by stepping in front of my friend and we didn't DPS enough and had to wipe. :wall:

Still got one more 34 to do tonight then probably going to tackle 35, though I need to procure a key and open the damn chest to progress the bounty on my hunter since one of the next steps if you have to wait 1-3 days for Variks to "summon" you.

My group really works well since the three of us have been playing together for quite some time and all three of us have a different preferred main. So we have one of each character to use. Been 100% painless so far, so I am very pleased with that. Looking forward to tackling 35 though :D
I started to reforge my Efrideet's Spear, but mine is Void, and I need that. I like my perks, as well. If Skolas is void next week, I will definitely Upgrade it, but my Etheric light comes very slow (3 a week guaranteed). I have Vision, FB, then also the 365 pistol, auto & fusion kell weapons. Wanna do black hammer, too.

How many versions of the PoE are there?  I know the 35 is locked at Skolas, but we have seen 3 different options for the 32/34.  Is that all there is? EDIT - Looks like there are 3 more grimoire cards so might be 3 different final bosses. (Overmind Minotaur, Gulrot the Unclean, and Kaliks Reborn)

Also are the chances of getting the exotic bounty limited to 1 chance on each 34 and 35 clear in a week?  Or could you keep running them with a chance to get a bounty each time?  Stinks to be locked out of those if it is a one and done situation.

I tried using LFG last night and did not have much luck. Seems like if you aren't 34 with a Gjallahorn people don't want to give you the time of day. Oh well.

Gally will not work this week, I don't care what lies anyone says. I laugh at the people looking for that, but it's usually to get TO Skolas. I use destinylfg.com, as I've had better luck there.

Everyone I know got it on their 1st try on that character that week. I know planet destiny said they were unsure, but guy I was with said he had beat it 40 times on 34 & 35 & had never seen anyone get the bounty. He was great, and was the reason we beat it, so I have no reason to doubt. He had like 3300 grimoire score, too.

That's what I was using. I was just looking for a quick run through the nightfall.

io, I don't want to hear any complaining about using Judgement's chance because after pushing my Hunter and Titan to 34 I decided to use the Chance on my warlock since those strength rolls are so bad and I ended up with another pair of Gloves, and they had a lower strength than the ones Variks sold last week......
Hah. Did you break them down? I'm curious what you get for them when you do - getting at least an armor or weapon core back would be nice.

Got with guys that had been there 7 hours, then I went through 4 other people (you have to have a hunter for the first mine if far away, and we had titans the majority of the time, and that wasn't good enough). I was on it for 6 hours probably. The last guy came in was a hunter that had beaten it this week already, I was titan, and the guy that stuck it out with me was warlock. We all had P&T, but the hunter that came in that did it before had the arc Fallen sniper. He said this was first time that P&T worked, that he had seen. I started to upgrade my arc Longbow Synthesis with 5 rounds (one more than my LDR). I think that is the best bet for people struggling. 1 or 2 with P&T is good, but a higher impact one is a must in my experience. Have 2 more characters to do 35 with this week if anyone wants to do it.
Yeah, I spent another 4 hours on it last night. It only took us 45 minutes to get TO Skolas. Then we gradually refined our technique. We tried all the stuff in the videos of knocking him down to 2/3 (to break bonds) then clear adds, then get him to 50% for the mines, then clear adds, then 25% for next mines, etc... But there are just WAY too many Fallen with arc weapons and someone would always die. When you have the devouring soul thing going on that screws you up too much. If you watch some of the videos that make it look easy, you see people coming very close to dying - they were just lucky.

So finally we decided to try the 3x sniper method. Did you just finish him off ASAP, twztid13? I have an Arc Efrideet's Spear but unfortunately it doesn't have Final Round or Field Scout. The only good perks are increased stability (I rolled it for PvP mostly) and increased reload speed when mag is empty (which is nice). But with only 3 shots I was reloading a lot. However, with Weapons of Light I was doing 8400+ with it at damage 331 while the other guys using P&T were only doing 6000 or so.

One problem is that one guy didn't even have his P&T maxed out - he was two nodes short. And neither had a better impact Arc sniper. What sucks is that the one guy (Chammer, Vendetta) apparently rage dismantled his ASCENDED high impact arc sniper after we didn't clear it two days ago. yet still we got it down pretty good and were able to get him to 10-20% health before being overwhelmed by spawns or having the mines go off too soon. We were staggering him all the way back to the walls behind where he approaches you from. If we could just do 10-20% more DPS I think we could do it. The nice thing about re-running this one is you don't have the 5-10 minute wait of restocking your heavy and then waiting for the synth cooldown. You can usually find special ammo pretty quickly in a run or two and yay - finally a use for all those special synths the chests have been giving us! But I wasn't even to the point of having to reload my special - I empty my entire supply at him, he's around 25%, then I pull out Thunderlord. If we can just get a little more initial damage on him so that he's 10-15% when I use Thunderlord, I think we'll have it made.

I am going to re-roll a solar Efrideet's I have to see if I can get what Vendetta did below. Then I will have to quickly level it up and ascend it. That wouldn't have been my next weapon to ascend by a long shot, but considering that clearing 35 gives me another etheric light it is well worth it if it helps. Meanwhile, the other guys made sure their P&T's were maxed and I think they bought a vendor sniper with high impact. So hopefully we'll get it done tonight. We have Thunderlord to break out when Skolas starts to approach. We had him down to a sliver one time, but the mines would have killed us anyway. But just killing him should give you the potential elemental weapon drops even if you wipe afterwards.

I need to do this. I could just ascend the Efrideet's I already have but I'm not sure it is enough given what the other guys have. I'm really just one perk off - dammit... I like the stability perk that I have though - but we'll see... If we clear it tonight and you need help I can pitch in. I should be geared pretty well for it!

He may have been looking for a 34 run - Ghally is kind of necessary there for the boss. And being 34 is pretty important too. A lot of us got through last week's 34 PoE as 33's but you won't be able to damage the end boss enough as a 33 this week, especially without G-horn. What you should make sure you do is run all the Nightfalls. Everyone but me seems to get Etheric Light from that. All you need is two to get yourself to 34 (and who knows, you might get a Gjallarhorn as well - they seem to be dropping more now). Also get the Gorgon chest checkpoint from Vendetta (for 3x more exotic chances). By the way V, I'd like to snag that from you if possible. I could then help Moose with it.

And of course, Moose, you should run the 32 to get the chest piece Variks has. It has that sucky strength roll and I haven't picked it up myself but I'm assuming you missed out on the gauntlets last week. So with that and an exotic, you only need two etheric light to hit level 34.

I'd like to run the 32 tonight if anyone is on. I'll be in my usual time, around 9:30 EST. I at least want to get the chest piece from Varricks, but if I can get some E light from the NF, that'd be great too. I still need to run that with my warlock.

For the Level 32 PoE if you can wait till like 10:30-10:45 est I would love to run it with you. I would do the Nightfall again also since I need that bounty still from Eris.

I have cleared the 34 twice this week on two different characters and not gotten a bounty. I have a friend who has done 3 and not gotten it. And I have another friend who got one on his first try at 34 (but not on his other 2 characters). So, yeah, it is definitely RNG and not guaranteed to anyone. I still have one more 34 to do so we'll see how it goes.

I missed this earlier. People wanted 34's with max Ghally for the Nightfall? Ridiculous and absolutely not necessary. Black Hammer works better on Sepiks anyway. Gjallarhorn is always nice to use (like to clear out the Wizards in the first part) but completely unnecessary for this Nightfall.

Just beat 34 with one of our guys using a 312 Hunger of Crota. So it is definitely possible if someone doesnt have G-horn.

I scored the Exotic Bounty and am not sure which to pick... I am leaning towards the Queenbreakers Bow because it looks like the most fun to play with though that shotgun intrigues me for PvP... Thoughts?

*EDIT

I am still curious on your thoughts and what you will pick first, but I went with the Queenbreakers Bow because it seems like if you can get a handle on it, then it will be an absolutely amazing weapon for PvP. Essentially with the low range scope it is like a scout rifle with a small charge that can one shot headshot. Plus the hip fire and high ammo count... Seems solid.

I did not realize however you need a key to do the first part. Awesome. Lovely. So my 10 hours farming keys that resulted in ONE key in the 9th hour will have to be repeated. They need to fix this because I should not have to farm that much for a freaking key like this. Really pisses me off that there is such a stupid artificial hurdle in place stopping me from starting the actual bounty itself.

DOUBLE EDIT

And that shit isnt even a guaranteed drop once you have a key?! And then once you finally get it you have to just wait a random amount of time? This entire exotic quest line is absolute BS and now that I am looking at it I am pretty POed with it. Give me stuff to do, not artificially pad the quest with mindless farming and literally doing nothing for days.

After some engram farming last night I now have six keys when all I want is some arms and boots that work with scout rifles. Plus I have no luck meeting up with people to play so I am stuck only being able to run the level 28 PoE over and over.

Finally beat the Arc burn Skolas tonight (or rather this morning).

Quick notes, with more details after I get some sleep:

1) The ship/emblem/shader do not drop for a second character. Looks like those are one-time only things (first time you beat Skolas).
2) We actually cleared it twice. And in none of the 6 drops did any of us get a weapon (which would have had elemental damage). That is some BS there. Two of us did get the exotic bounties though. I picked the sidearm because it is the only one I see using. For the other guy this was his second bounty and he went for the shotgun (after doing the sidearm before). On our first 35 run (or maybe it was on the 34 we did before that) he got the Queen's Cipher. So I think he got it on his first chest after he got the bounty. Now he's in the "wait a set amount of time" part. Though from looking online it seems like it is as little as 10 hours to a few days.
3) I got two more Judgement's Chances and on my 5th overall try got yet another weapon. But on the 6th one I finally got some armor. It was the gloves (which Variks had the first week). However, they have a pure discipline roll (instead of strength) and the perk is to generate orbs with Fallen precision hits. So those are better than the ones I had at least.
4) We cleared the first one in under two hours. The second try was only an hour and a half. But of course we spent 4-6 hours just on Skolas the last two night practicing that part. Though what really put us over the hump was the other two guys getting better sniper rifles. And I bumped mine up a bit too. I was getting 8800 or so with normal shots and 11,500 with the final round (6th shot in this case). But I had held off ascending it - if I d that it will be even easier. We did it in 3-4 tries each time tonight.

But still, both times I had to use another weapon to finish him off. I actually killed him with Fatebringer the first time, then with Thunderlord the second time (after self-rezzing).

FYI the Fallen weapons turn into motes just like everything else now. So all those hours put into beating Skolas more or less turned into an etheric light and a few motes. Yikes.

One more thing; Xur is in the regular tower (middle section). He has the new Warlock gloves plus glove engrams. My very first engram turned into the new Titan gauntlets. I got two more that became old ones. I really wanted the Hunter beetle one. I'll buy the Warlock ones once I'm sure I'm done buying engrams.

Trials of Osiris has the boots as the reward - they have bad perks though (namely by not having the Heavy ammo perk that most boots have). I'm less excited to play it this week because of that. I wish I had gotten the chest piece from last week for my Titan and Hunter.

Boots and gauntlets were confirmed for Iron Banner starting Tuesday, so may as well wait for those. We can also buy Etheric Light at IB ranks 3 and 5!

I about pooped my pants last night. After getting the Exotic Bounty and coming here and ranting about it I decided to farm right before I went to bed.... AND WITH TWO PACK OF WOLVES EVENTS... I GOT TWO KEYS! It was ridiculous. I then grabbed Linkin and my buddy Hooptie and we just ran through 32 really quick and I got the Cipher on that big chest first try. I was so happy hahah I was worried this was going to take forever but I got nice and lucky. Now to come home tonight and already have my "wait time" completed AND score the new Hunter Gauntlets from an engram. My buddy messaged me first thing this morning that he had to buy like 7 engrams but he finally got that oh so lovely beetle : P

I am already at the point where I am not as concerned about Etheric Light. I pretty much have all the main things I used Ascended. I think I may turn to Praedthys Revenge and Found Verdict for IB/ToO

Yeah, it seems like the Gjallahorn has become the one hit kill gun... Or so people seem to think. Way too many people relying on it.

So I had two groups quit on my today that I set up from DestinyLFG.net on the level 32 PoE. One time in the third round when they both died in the final wave. The other crew bailed on my as soon as the third round started because their original third got back online. So my luck continues with that. I also got three more Pest Control Auto Rifles two on engram drops and one in a Vanguard package. Now that makes at least six of those I have received in the past two weeks only running one character.

Nice, glad it is coming back next week. Was worried they would hold off on bringing it back right after HoW drops due to ToO running every week. Hopefully the armor rolls will be better than the hot garbage that Variks has given us so far. Although I was hoping for the shotgun to be one of the weapons so that kind of stinks.

Got some good luck last night and pulled a Treasure key while running the wanted bounties. Then scored a second one from one of the small chests while helping ChubbyNinja with the 32 PoE! Now just have to get a 35 PoE run together.

Surprisingly I am also in a good place with etheric light just 10 days in even without running ToO. Bumped all 3 characters to 34, upgraded my VoC since that has always been my favorite primary in the game. Have 4 more that will probably go to Efredeet's Spear, Black Hammer, and Fang of Ir Yut/Fatebringer. Might hold onto one for now, but I do like that Found Verdict idea for Iron Banner.

I tried using LFG last night and did not have much luck. Seems like if you aren't 34 with a Gjallahorn people don't want to give you the time of day. Oh well.

That is really surprising that you guys are not having any luck using LFG considering I use it for almost all of my weekly stuff.

I definitely recommend using DestinyLFG.com and not the .net site. I'd say 95% of the time I find a group and end up with a quick clear of whatever I am trying to run. I find it easier to join groups rather than organizing your own. If you are having trouble getting into groups, just sort the site by the activity you are trying to run, post your info and then refresh and message the newest posters trying to form groups. If you hit the envelope under the GT it brings up an xbox live message in another tab so you can easily send a message asking for an invite. And you know that the easiest way to invite someone via XBL is from a message. This can take a while sometimes, especially for the in demand activities, like PoE, or NF the day of the reset.

I'd also suggest trying to cherry pick the best players when you are organizing. So look for 33s or 34s posting to run the 32 PoE to get an easier run.

Remember, the majority of people playing this game do not have organized groups that they run with every week. Bungie setup most of the end game activities without matchmaking which led the masses to create the LFG sites. Bungie even mentioned DestinyLFG.com in their weekly update one time. What was that statistic that the one game writer found where less than 50% of the people who have played the game have completed a Raid. Arguably the best content in the game with the best loot has only been completed by less than half the players....

I keep watching gameplay of the Queenbreakers Bow and am getting really antsy for it! I REALLY hope that I can get it tonight or tomorrow. I really wish there was something you could do to speed up the wait time.

Hah. Did you break them down? I'm curious what you get for them when you do - getting at least an armor or weapon core back would be nice.

No, people specifically post for Gallys on Skolas. Skolas is only on 35.

Beat with my hunter last night. You do NOT get a second shader, ship, etc, so don't waste a key. You just get queen's weapons out of that chest, except exotic chance. We always kill him while hunter is on his way to 1st mine (far one), or if mine is close, one focuses on adds, while other 2 finish Skolas. Always beat him before 1st mine is being dismantled. Never done it before or after, and I tried with a group that didn't have max P&T & it was just impossible to get him at that point. In that case, we had to do too much running around & people die.

I have field scout on my Efrideet's Spear, but it's Void (hopefully will help next week). I thought about reforging, but not now that I only need one more victory.

I CAN gripe about judgement's Chance 'cause I got a STUPID Wolfslayer's Claw that he sold week 1. I have 5 weapon core's then. I could have bought 5. Everyone else has 2 Shadow of Veil's (beast arc sniper), or get's helmet or leg armor & I get kinetic weapons. GRRRRR.

I think I may turn to Praedthys Revenge and Found Verdict for IB/ToO
Just so y'all kow, the first weapon you pick when you get the bounty does not matter. You will get to pick after you get the 1000 points & turn the bounty in, and you can pick any of the 3 no matter what you chose initially.

People say the Queensbreaker Bow is like the No Land Beyond (useless in other words), but that's what I wanted. The shotgun is mainly usefull for PvE they say (people I know that have it say they won't use it over a normal shotty in PvP). The Dreg's Promise is what everyone I know wanted, but they all play PvP religiously, and want that. I don't know what to pick. Congrats, everyone, on the bounties.

Seems like there are a ton of people posting on LFG at Skolas looking for people to do the Arc Sniper strategy. Will 3 people using Patience and Time work to beat Skolas? I'd rather use my arc Efredeet's Spear anyways so I can use Thunderlord if it comes to that.

I will help you with the 32 as soon as I get my last 35 knocked out. I will start trying as soon as I get home at 6 central, so I'll message you then. I can use my titan so it will be no problem. I have a max Gally, too, so the last boss will be quick.

Ok thanks I should be on no later than 11 est.

No Land Beyond had potential but was garbage. The Queensbreaker Bow is what the No Land Beyond should have been from what I have seen. It is not like Thorn or Red Death where you can just pick it up and do decently in PvP this one requires work to get good with but watching some PvP runs with it, it has CRAZY damage potential. If you are using it well it is like a scout with one shot headshots!

We shall see I guess once I finally get it and practice in pvP with it. I will definitely post some videos of me rocking it if I can get it down pat.

See, I don't like PvP, but I want that weapon most. I guess I can test it in IB if I hurry & get it.

My first 5 all I got were weapons, and not even good ones at that (I have not gotten the sniper which sounds like the only good one to be honest). I got two of the rocket launchers and they are Void with no tracking and one has bonus damage to dregs and the other to shanks. No thanks. Then I've gotten the hand cannon, pulse rifle, and one more I can't even remember.

FINALLY on my 6th Judgment's Chance attempt I got some armor but it was the gloves he sold week. Granted, they came with a Discipline roll and critical hit perks which are better than Variks stock from last week. But still - would have preferred any other armor piece to that. I passed entirely on the chest pieces this week and used my armor cores for the Chance's in the hope that I might get a better chest piece or at least one of the other armors. I didn't and ended up having to ascend VoG and Crota gear on both my Titan and Hunter to get them to 34.

So it seems the Queen's Cipher comes pretty quickly to most people. Do we know if it drops any easier from higher-level chests? I might be doing an extra 35 (I know, crazy, right?) and would run my Titan then so I could try opening the 35 chest a second time this week (but first after getting the bounty). The problem was that we ran two Titans through when we beat it the first time. Then the second time we did it with one. So for our third run we have no one with a Titan. That Weapons of Light bubble is CRITICAL for Skolas this week. I'm not sure you could do it without it. Both the protection (of standing beside it and retreating in when reloading, not to mention blinding the first set of adds that come out that door) and the boost to your sniper attack are very important. So we might have to run it two more times to get everyone their third clear (guy who didn't use Titan runs that the first time and gets two of us a clear, then we run our Titans again the second time to get him his Warlock's clear).

The good news is that we have the entire 35 down to an hour and a half and we might as well get it done because we have no idea how hard it might end up being next week. Sure, it might be Void, but then again it could be something completely different. I also have a Void Efrideet's Spear but it doesn't have either Final Round or Field Scout so I might have to re-roll it like I did with my similar Arc Efrideet. Actually, I re-rolled a third solar one (with the default perks) that I picked up during IB a couple times ago and kept my other Arc one in case I had bad luck with the roll. I'm so glad I got 3 of those now - it helped me tremendously this week with Skolas. The good news is that I didn't even have to ascend it (I brought an etheric light just in case it was necessary). We cut it close both times and probably with it ascended it might have gone a little smoother - but considering it only took 3-4 attempts on both runs that isn't bad. We tried at least 50 times over the two previous nights.

No, P&T on all three will not work. When we were running it and failing the night before, we had two guys with P&T and me with my Efrideet's Spear. P&T doesn't stagger him well enough and also doesn't do as much damage. It didn't help that one guy didn't have his maxed (WTF - the guy has 1200 hours into the game - d'oh!).

When we did it with ease the one guy had his P&T maxed plus he picked up a vendor sniper to use. I'm not sure which one he actually went with. The other guy also had a re-rolled vendor sniper. Though neither of them was doing the 8500/11,500 damage (regular head shot/final round head shot) that I was doing. So you can probably do it if just one guy has the really good sniper and can hit most of his shots. I missed probably 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 5 and still got it done.

Hmmmm - I wonder if I could just get my clear via LFG and then just be able to help my friends get theirs. I would love to just be able to jump in at the end on Skolas and not do the whole thing again. Are people on LFG just looking for people at that point? Without there being checkpoints you could save I wasn't sure if that would be a thing you could do. The problem is my character that needs it is my Hunter and yet I'm the DPS guy for Skolas - so I can't really run off and do mines. If you get lucky and 'A' is the one right next to you it can be pretty easy though.

By the way, our strategy this week on 35 has been to run three Titans through the first 5 rounds, then switch out what we need for Skolas. With 3 Titans each specced to the different bubble types most of the rounds are super easy. We make orbs for each other and nearly instantly regen our supers. The only tricky one is the Arc damage Cabal one with the mine dismantling. We try to get to the points and pop bubbles there. The hard part there are the Psions arc-based ground attack which can rip through a bubble.

I figure I just better do all 3 35's this week even if it means having to run it two more times for the last clear because they may patch a couple of things: 1) Skolas going down so quick. I could see them making him immune during the mine phase or something. 2) Being able to join while on the death screen before the final round.

So now that all my characters are 34 and I have 3 spare etheric light I'm not sure what to ascend. I'll probably do a Vision of Confluence. Then maybe one of my Jolder's Hammers for Trials/Iron Banner. Not sure on that though - they still tear it up pretty good at 331. The damage boost might not make any difference (still requiring the same number of shots).

Now that I got a Discipline roll on my Kell's gloves I'd like boots with Int (I had ascended Discipline Crota boots). My Warlock still has way too low Intellect and that is not good for Trials of Osiris (though I managed with it last week). The problem is I don't have any good VoG or Crota boots. I might have to try to run both to get better boots. So if anyone is up for a Normal Crota run through lamps/abyss I'd love to do that.

I've gotten both my Skolas kills from LFG starting at Skolas this week. You may have to bail on some people that say they're great, then can't place a bubble correctly or don't have helm of saint-14. People are dying for your sniper, though, so you should be fine.

Hah - the best thing would be to get in a group and have them bail on me leaving me the checkpoint so I can run it with my regular group. I'd just have to stay in the Arena till they are ready ;).

I used to deal with LFG quite a bit back in the early-Atheon days when I wanted to run through multiple times. But ever since I've found some reliable groups I am reluctant to go back to it. I'm just not all that comfortable communicating with randoms. If anyone here is running it, though, and needs another let me know. Like if you get on LFG and get bailed on. Just send me a message via Xbox Live as that is the best way since I can see that on my phone.

Just thinking about it... could you get booted from the airlock for just waiting around???

The game does that in other areas and wondering if the same could happen in PoE

When I ran 28 somebody was idle the first few rounds. Before the round starts the game forced them to Respawn in the arena.

Oh sure, that's because someone else went into the arena and started the event.

But what if you stay in airlock and no one goes into the arena. Can you stay there indefinitely and not get kicked (timed out)???

That's different though - it just throws you out into the arena when the round starts and back into the airlock when it ends.

It might kick you if you are idle for a while though. You'd probably have to rubber band your controller to run around in there if you wanted to hold the checkpoint for hours.

We did discover a potentially horrible thing about respawns in PoE though. This could really screw you over if you play with random jerks. We ran the 34 for my third character last night and the other 2 guys I was with had already done it, so other than the small chests there was nothing in it for them. One of them died during the last round and wanted to see what happened if we didn't revive him before heading back to the airlock and descending for the chests.

We thought for sure Variks would summon him back in alive. Instead what happened was that the doors closed and then... nothing... for what seemed like a long time - definitely way longer than you normally wait for the hatch to open below to get the chests. Meanwhile the guy was still dead out in the arena and did not even have his orb moved into the Vault with us. Eventually to hatch opened and the two of us were able to go down and get the chests. The dead guy stayed up in the area the whole time and wasn't able to open the chests.

That is seriously messed up. Presumably he would still have gotten the normal rewards (weapon core and etheric light) if he hadn't already cleared it - so really it just costs you the small chests (a few motes and strange coins usually) and the opportunity to open the big chest (which has been a big disappointment most of the time). But, still, we were really surprised Bungie allows this to happen. So if your jerk teammates decide not to revive you they can screw you over (a bit). We don't know for sure if he'd have gotten the normal rewards either so it could be even worse.

Anybody who was on last night want to try a Crota run on hard tonight?

Also do you think it's worth wasting an armor core on that chest piece to get my character to 33 1/2? It really has no perks that interest me and I am more of an intellect/discipline guy. But right now that armor core is just going to waste unless he sales two pieces of armor in one week.

Plus is there anything out there that charts what the difference in time that your super, melee, and grenade recharge based on your intellect, discipline, and strength percentage?

So last night playing a level 28 PoE, I actually had a Plan C drop as a reward in the post-game menu. This wasn't from the middle chest, which I did not open. Outside of the chest, I was not aware that there was a chance for exotic drops from the level 28, so that at least gives me a reason to play it occasionally.

I was going to hoard my cores waiting for something with a better roll, but then I figured, "What the heck" and just bought a couple chest pieces. I figure it's the fastest route to level 34 because it gives me a better chance of success in the higher level PoE arenas. Once I get through level 34 a few times, I'll have some e-light and I can use that to ascend armor in my inventory with better stats.

This right here... you'll want to hit 34 as quick as possible to guarantee yourself 2 shots at Etheric Light (running 34 & 35 PoE).

The stat rolls suck but being 33 with great stat rolls will still be worse than being 34 with poor stat rolls.

Even moreso effective if you're able to save those Etheric Lights for use on weapons like Fatebringer, BlackHammer, Vision of Confluence, etc.

But it really comes down to whether or not you want to run those higher level activities now or later.

I'd say no on the chest piece unless you really want strength.  I got it and I totally regret it, yeah it looks cool, but my super takes forever to come up.

Oh and I'm down for Crota Hard tonight.   I think we were all just too tired when it came to VoG last night...I'm so ashamed.

My thought on the armor is each week you can easily get an armor core by doing the 32 and using both types of cores on a Judgement's Chance is a crapshoot anyway. I personally am just getting each armor piece available for now so that I have more options available to mix and match 34 gear as I obtain more.

Yeah Judgement's Chance has been garbage for me, until last night.

Got 42boots for my warlock with 148 Intellect. Perks were increased Heavy ammo & Increased agility and Grenade recharge when fighting Cabal in the PoE..

Cool to have gotten them but who knows how many more tries it would take me to get another good armor drop like that.
