Official CAG Destiny Thread - Rise of Iron

Don't get me wrong, I like PvP to a certain extent. But I sure as hell wouldn't be playing it if it weren't for the carrot of unique armor/weapons. For example, I was pretty happy getting the Osiris boots, gauntlets, and chest piece plus the yellow shader for my Warlock. But then that just made me want to get those for my other characters and for whatever reason it was much more difficult with them. I only got one item total for both and wasted a ton of those passage coins.

Having to grind for the stupid passage coins is the worst part. Let me use some of my 400+ strange coins to buy those things so that at least all that time spent in the game can reward me in some way.

As for Iron Banner, I hopped on for a bit this afternoon to try to get a win and redeem the 5 medallions I had stored up. It took a couple of tries but I finally got it done and hit level 3. I bought the etheric light and the Titan boots (too bad they don't have the heavy weapon ammo perk). The 2x boost for secondary characters is definitely in effect. I turned in two bounties and got 300+ rep. My friend who was working on his second character got the same boost from just one bounty. So it should be really easy to rank up 2nd and 3rd characters this weekend with the increased boon effect plus the 2x bonus.

I currently have 5 etheric light in my vault and will get 5 more from Iron Banner plus 2-4 more from PoE (still have a 34 and 1-3 35s to do). Soon I'll start ascending my multiples of weapons to save me from having to Vault swap all the time.

-Titan smashing.... aka Titan Panic as I call it.... Don't even get me started. Talk about the most no skill super in the game. :bomb: :bomb: :bomb:

Other than those gripes, I would really love to see a no super playlist and make it about the guns. That or have a playlist where no exotics are allowed. That would make for a different type of game. :)
I have a problem with Blade Dancers myself. They are pretty much unstoppable once they get going and it seems even with 3-4 people shooting them they take little damage. The only counter seems to be to Titan Smash them!

For the Titan smash I've been killed plenty of times trying to get in close to do the attack. Of all the supers it leaves you the most vulnerable when trying to execute it since you have to get in close before activating it. And usually it ends up being a suicide attack, trading 2 or 3 kills for the 1. Bladedancers seem to get away unscathed most of the time.

I feel in those four statments you just made above that would totally fix the PvP aspect of the game. Like today I put a full shotgun blast in a guy while he was starting his fist of havoc and it didnt even phase him.
I've started using shotguns finally but I find that other people seem to be able to one shot me and I have to hit them at least twice even with an ascended Swordbreaker. I'd love a no shotguns playlist ;). I did just get a Felwinter's to drop from Iron Banner so I might re-roll that and try it out. But from what I've read it can't get the same perks that made it OP previously and the Party Crasher + 1 and Matador are better options (and since I've been getting killed a lot with those recently I believe it). By the way, I know a guy that has gotten 5 Matadors to drop in Iron Banner over the last 2 days.

If you already have the rewards for Skolas, can you still keep killing him & try to get weapons? Or, is it like the raid bosses where once they drop that week, that's it?
I think stuff only drops once. My plan for tonight if I can get the other guys to go along with it is to easy-mode rounds 1-5 by using the 3 Titan strategy (all with different bubble types). Then two of us switch out and we kill Skolas but wipe to the mines. Switch characters and repeat 2 more times then finish it off. We'll get the potential exotic bounty/elemental damage primary drops from Skolas each time but only one set of PoE rewards (weapon core, armor core, etheric light, chests). But I just feel like we won't get around to 3 full runs this week with all the PvP crap, so I'd at least like to get the 3 Skolas kills in.

So because of my work schedule changing this weekend this will be my last night of gaming for awhile and I would like to go out with a bang if possible.

Still need to do any VoG and Crota stuff plus a level 32 PoE so anybody's help with these would be a great help.

I need one Crota run on Hard with Titan. Done all 32, 34, 35 PoE's, VoG's, and Crota Hards, so nothing left to do & my bounties from Variks aren't ready on either character :(.

That Matador is a beast. I have 3 Felwinters & was thinking of dismantling them (I rerolled & got shot package, aggressive ballistics, & hammer forged on all, but 2 are void). Now that you mention the new ones can't get those perks, I will definitely keep them.

Yeah with all these new shotguns I have been trying to figure out which is really worth making my main. I am still rolling my Found Verdict in PvP but Party Crasher, Matador, Fellwinter and I believe one more whose name eludes me all seem to have solid base stats for rerolling. Which do you guys think is the best, speaking strictly PvP for range/damage?

I will be on tonight by no later than 11:00 EST and can probably stay on for 3-4 hours at the most. Would like to do the hard Crota run with you if possible.

I really like the Party Crasher +1 as far as the new shotguns go. I have a solar and a void that I have both fully upgraded with different stats and I use the solar one in any PvP I do.

Hm yeah I think I am going to reroll my Party Crasher for Rangefinder, Reinforced Barrel and then Luck in the Chamber. Comparing all the stats of the new shotguns it seems Party Crasher is the one to beat.

*EDIT*

Just kidding Matador has better range and impact but less in pretty much everything else. I think I may try Matador first.

I've been running with a Judgment VI shotgun that I rerolled for solar damage and full auto and that thing is a beast. Range is minimal but if catch someone coming around a corner it destroys them. I had a Matador drop the other day but I haven't taken it for a spin yet.

I've been rather proud of how I'm holding up in IB. Played about 6 rounds yesterday and I'm now solidly in the 18-24 kills per game range. I feel silly for avoiding it for so long.

I didn't get to playing IB until like 2am Eastern and any advantage I usually have over the masses is gone at that point, plus I was really tired.  Was able to get all 3 characters to 3 and got my Etheric Light.  Only did the 10,000 exp bounty but made some progress on the others that I should be able to finish off tonight.  Want to rush my Hunter up to Rank 4 then use the 2x xp to pull my Hunter/Warlock up as well.

I haven't touched PoE yet this week so if anyone still has some runs to do I'll be around tonight.

Anyone have Gorgon CP this week?
I do. I won't be on till late tonight. I'll try to pass it off to someone here.

Did 3 PoE last night. No elemental weapon drops :( Did get another exotic bounty. We had zero issue with any part of any of the three. Definitely going to try to get another set of 3 done tonight with my group.

Probably not going to touch ToO until Sunday most likely.

Dammit, fuck this game. We decided to try Trials at noon today. We did pretty well and got to 3-0 with not even the first, forgiven loss. So I bought the 2-fot-1 boon: we lost. So I bought another: we lost. So now we're at 3-1 on the card and I don't buy one. We win. fuck. Now we're at 4-1 so I buy another. We lose. Then we lose again to close it out at 4-3. fuck fuck fuck fuck. I blew 15 passage coins and got jack squat except for 2 back from the rank 3 package - I had redeemed the rank 2 one after reset Tuesday when we were messing around then.

It is on one of the new maps and it sucks because it is wide open so it is a sniper's paradise. Our team just does not do well on that. The map itself is very nice looking - it is an old European town complete with a ruined cathedral.

Had a little better luck with Prison of Elders last night. We did the thing I mentioned earlier where we killed Skolas, then intentionally wiped to the mines so we could swap out characters and kill him again. It took us a long time to get the mechanics down because my stupid ass teammates didn't come prepared with high-impact Void snipers even after going through the 7-8 hours we wasted on Arc Skolas last week (when we had to quit so they could get better snipers then come back and do it again the next day). They were using Praedyth's Revenge. I know everyone creams for that stupid gun, but it sucks here. They were doing about 3000 crit damage with Weapons of Light. I had to ascend my void Efrieet's Spear to make up for that (which I did not want to have waste an etheric light on). When I did that I was getting 9500 per crit. So I had to do like 75% of the damage each run.

So get this wacky RNG:

First run: Me (nothing), CHammer (2 x exotic bounties), DevilDog (2 x exotic bounties)
Second run: Me (Aegis of the Kell II pulse rifle with arc burn), CHammer (Wolfslayer Claw II auto rifle with solar burn), DevilDog (2 x exotic bounties)
Third run: Me (Aegis of the Kell II pulse rifle with void burn), CHammer (Wolfslayer Claw II auto rifle with solar burn I think again - or it might have been void), DevilDog (exotic bounty)

So, yeah, that one guy ended up with FIVE of the new exotic bounties (of course there are only 3 different weapons available). And I didn't get any - but I already have 2 so that's OK. FYI - I got the 450 points towards my bounty just by killing Skolas. I did not have to complete the mission to get the points though I did anyway on my Hunter just to be sure.

While I didn't really need or want a third arc pulse rifle, at least mine does have the Fallen Captain stun perk. Chammer, meanwhile, may have gotten the same on his solar one. But if you are going for Fallen Captains mine is the best roll possible (arc for their shields). So it may have some use in PoE and certain strikes. Does anyone know if there is a hand cannon or scout rifle that drops from Skolas? It seems all I've ever seen is these two in videos and such. It would really suck if Trials is the only way to get an elemental hand cannon/scout. (EDIT: looked on some forum posts and it does seem like some people have gotten the hand cannon and scout. So it kind of sucks that two of us got the same weapons both times - well, and that the other guy got none though the 5 exotic bounties kind of make up for it ;)).

My second pulse rifle has void damage, so I have another option besides Word of Crota. It has Vandal burn which is at least better than Dreg or Shank.

CHammer instantly deleted one of his Wolfslayer Claws. I deleted my non-elemental Aegis of the Kell that I got from a Judgment's Chance. Then I took a gamble and got my 8th Judgment's Chance (6 of my previous 7 had been lame weapons). I got the gloves for my Hunter with a discipline roll. So that was OK, though I would have preferred chest or helm. I instantly deleted my Variks-obtained strength gloves.

I have lots more Iron Banner to run so I'll be on doing that. Feel free to join/invite if you see me on. I find that much more fun (and relaxing) than Trials, which just stresses the hell out of me. I also need to run a level 34 PoE at some point and if anyone wants to run the 35 (Vendetta) I'm up for that. I could still use the post-Skolas rewards on two characters.

FYI, here's more info on the Skolas drop weapons:

All have a random elemental type plus one of the following random Fallen-themed perks: Demotion, Disciplinarian, Dreg Burn, Shank Burn, Mutineer or Vandal Burn

Demotion: This weapon has a chance to stun Fallen Captains
Disciplinarian: This weapon deals a small amount of bonus damage to Fallen enemies
Mutineer: This weapon has a chance of suppressing a Fallen Captain's abilities

Wolfslayer's Claw II (auto rifle):
Crowd Control, and options for one of these three: Flared Magwell, Field Scout, Perfect Balance

Aegis of the Kell II (pulse rifle):
Rangefinder, and options for Extended Mag, Fitted Stock, Flared Magwell

Six Dreg Pride II (hand cannon):
Army of One, and options for Hand Loaded, High Caliber Rounds, Extended Mag

Wolve's Leash II (scout rifle):
Triple Tap, and options for Snapshot, Custom Optics, Perfect Balance

So it seems to me the best perk is Disciplinarian since it applies to all Fallen.

I'm taking a look at mine in the app...

My void one has Vandal burn (bleh)
My arc one has Demotion. I guess that is OK (chance to stun Fallen Captains).

Damn io, don't think I've ever seen you get mad before, that must have been grueling.
Buying the 2-for-1 boons on 3 of the 4 chances I had to get to 5 or 6 wins and getting the one win on the time I didn't buy it was extremely frustrating. I would have been happy just to get the stupid gauntlet reward at rank 5.

I dunno if it has gotten much harder or what but I was able to get to rank 8 twice on my Warlock in the first two weeks. With my Titan I can't get anywhere (last week and this week).

I haven't played much, can't find a team and I'm not that great at 3v3 best I've done was 3 wins with the boost. Last week i couldn't even win one.

friends don't let friends play trials
Kind of wish I never had. Although... I did get an almost complete set of Warlock gear (just missing the helmet) so that taste of it makes the rest just tantalizingly out of reach.

Was planning on doing my 2nd 35 last night but got talked into Iron Banner.  It started off not so good but we all found our groove.  I'll be honest io, I don't play well with a few of those guys... However, after we found our groove, I started doing work.  I finished all my IB bounties in 2 hours ish.  :)

So after playing 2 nights this week I'm at Rank 3.  I still don't know if I want to run another character to 3 to get Etheric Light.

I have to get my buddy Epic to 34 so he can run trials.  I wish Variks would summon me so I can run 32s with him and maybe 2 34s....

Stil need to get 32 done, and hoping to get 35 before reset.  Though I keep hearing from lots of people that this week's 32 is just as bad as last week's 34.   I know they're exaggerating as this time you can at least kill the fucking bubbles.

IB I got my Warlock on 4, my Titan almost at 3.  Once I get to 5 on my Warlock and 3 on my Titan, going to stop playing IB, hopefully by tonight if nothing comes up.

Ran VoG hard for the first time all the way from beginning to end yesterday, had a pretty good leader, but I could tell he was getting irritated towards the end.  For some reason Atheon kept teleporting me, and I kept having to grab the shield, and I'd get lost on my way back, I'd turn left when I had to turn right and vice versa, or the stupid shield wouldn't hold or I wasn't pressing the bumper hard enough...it was funny but sad.   4 hrs later and we completed it...and really nothing to show for, didn't get a single exotic.  Really really wanted Vex Mythoclast and ended up with a Praedyths Revenge.  Regardless, doubt they'll invite me again...LOL

Was able to get my one character to level 3 in IB last night and bought the Etheric Light to get him to level 34 finally. Now somehow I need to squeeze in a Level 32 PoE run between now and the reset to get the armor core for the helmet. That way I can move my armor around a little bit more to my liking.

It's still more bulls$%@! than it is fun is all. I compare it to the Omnigul or Rockets McD-face strikes; something to get thru because you want the rewards not because it's enjoyable.

Considering the paltry rewards and the fact the IB is in play... well there's only so much time in a week.

I've only done 1 run this week and doubt I'll do the rest, even though I want armor cores. I'd rather spend that time on the 35 PoE or in IB... or in ToO

I'm up to rank 4 on one guy and have another at 3 and another near 3. I might as well go for rank 5 on all of them with the increased boons the last few days and the 2x catch-up boost. I'm pretty sure the boost works until you hit the same rank, even if the original character is further along in that rank. I was near 4 on my Titan and then got my Warlock to just over 3 and noticed the exp gains were smaller. So that's why I boosted my Titan to 4 last night. I ought to be able to hit 5 just doing the "easy" bounties for the last few days on the other characters and winning a few matches along the way.

Not sure if and when I'll return to Trials...

And I still have a 34 PoE to do if anyone is up for that.

Qodron on the 32 is super-easy if you can get the DPS on him. With 3 Gjallarhorns you don't even have to use a synth and reload like last week when it was the 34. We did it that way without even having a Titan bubble last night. I'd think you would be able to use some other kind of rocket launcher, especially if you have a Titan bubble to retreat into for synths.

But even id you don't finish him off, the detainment fields are easier to break out of since the patch. I ran it earlier with someone who wasn't fully levelled up and they couldn't do enough damage to get him right off the bat so we actually had to do it the "normal" way. I was able to get out of the fields with 7 Swordbreaker shots. Unfortunately that meant I has to reload for the last one, but I was still able to survive it. If I got one of the "eye" dudes, it took just 2 shots. Then I just chipped away at Qodron until we downed him. I think I had to deal with 3 or 4 detainment fields.

Finished up my Iron Banner stuff today.  Got all 3 characters to Rank 5.  The 2x rep boost they give to your lower characters make it almost too easy these last few days.  Broke the bank buying all the stuff, but glad we can trade in old shards for glimmer now.  Beats farming for the last 24 hours before reset.

I still have some PoE runs to do, 1 Skolas, a couple 34s and 32s if anyone needs to run them still.

Yeah, same here. I still need to buy the boots/gauntlets for my Warlock even though I have the older ones. I just want to have them. But I bought all 6 etheric light, all 3 class items, and the boots/gauntlets for my Hunter and Titan. I wish I hadn't blown 17,500 or whatever it was on that Queen's ship. So now I need 10K more - not sure if I want to trade my shards in since I'd rather save those for motes. I have a lot of weapons to reroll including 3 Party Crash +1's, and a Radagast's Fury along with another rocket launcher with max blast radius. I got a Felwinter's Lie, but I think the Party Crasher is better if I can get the right perks.

I really need to learn how to use shotguns better in PvP and they perform so differently based on the perks. I know everyone wants Rangefinder on them, but I find that I can't be scoping if I hope to get shotgun kills. I just have to hip fire or I lose track of the other guy.

Anyway, I also tried Trials again tonight with some of Vendetta's friends. I started out OK but then I was doing horribly towards the end. We ran two cards - the first time I bought 2 boons and we ended up with just 2 wins. The second time I didn't buy any and was glad I didn't as we just got the 1 win and I barely got any kills the second round. This map just isn't suited for me. I wish I had done it a lot more the first week when it was on Burning Shrine and not everyone was a pro yet. I got nearly the full set of Warlock gear then (minus the helm) and I haven't been able to get a single piece of gear since early last weekend. I really wanted those Hunter gauntlets but I'm not sure if I'll bother tonight.

We did have one thrilling match where we went down 0-4 and came back to win. We also got screwed by the game with a loss when it disconnected one of our guys. So that cost me the 3-win package, though we probably wouldn't have gotten to 5 for the armor anyway.

I really need to work on my Queen's bounties - I didn't do more than half of them. And I may be in for a 35 PoE.

Man you all got so much play time in!

I haven't even done all my NFs and I did I think like 2 PoE and ONE of my characters is almost Rank 4 in IB... oh and I didn't even touch ToO! : (

My one final took almost all weekend to finish. I thought I was in a good place and just needed to tighten up a few things and I would be good to go but then literally everything that could go wrong, did. Ended up spending almost all Saturday on it, then got up at 5:30am and worked on it and FINALLY was able to get food shower and log on for a few hours of Destiny at like 11:30pm womp womp.

I will see what I can get done tonight, though really its not a huge deal one way or the other. I really just wanted the IB shotty, sniper or rocket but no suck luck with my drops still.

I am pretty in love with the Queenbreakers Bow. Such high risk, high reward gameplay. I recorded quite a few clips this past week of some really cool kills. Just really fast clean kills it is awesome and really changes the way I play which is a nice refreshing twist. I feel like with ToO and IB more and more people have been using Thorn and it is driving me crazy! Gah. The Fulcrum I spent a million motes rerolling is an amazing handcannon stat wise and has luck in the chamber and final round and works well with the QBB as something to swap to if I miss or get a body shot.

Got all 3 new exotic weapons now. The Dreg's promise is TRASH. Not upgraded, but the other 2 are maxed. I doubt up grading fixes the horrible range, and the regular sideare does much better in PvP (the only place where it's somewhat viable).

At 3.5 IB rank. Need to finish out all 3 tonight. Looks like Titan gear is all I will get, and the Warlock boots. It all looks so terrible, and has same perks as my last IB gear, so I can just use the etheric light on those. It would be different if they were 42, but the etheric light is only reason to play it, IMHO. got a redgast's fury, party crasher, 2 matador 64's (best shotty), 2 of the scouts with great stats in crucible only, etc. Can't get the similars wrath. I notice they buffed the impact & reduced the mag size (used to be 66 w/o field scout & Atheon's Epologue impact). Glad they started giving the weapons away from the jump, and not only after rank 3, and not only the weapons he sold the prior week.

Tried trials w 2 32's and we won 1 game, then it matches us up with people that have at least 2 people with exotic emblems & are 34 w 365 weapons. My teamates didn't even have 331 weapons maxed (I didn't know til I accepted party invite). Not fun when you don't know the map, I'll just leave it at that.

I was actually going to setup a monitor and farm glimmer last night while I watched GoT, but when I realized how much I needed to buy armor, weapons and etheric light on all 3 characters I just traded in the shards to be done with it. I still have a couple hundred of each type of shard left, 800 Ascendant Energy and 400 strange coints that I could convert at some point if I need motes, lol. But I'm not really a big on reforging stuff over and over again so all these weapons I have might.

Never got any other Iron Banner weapons to drop other than a Radegast, that dropped at Rank 2 and about 3 or 4 Similar's. Really wanted a Felwinter, but I did get the PC +1 and 2 Matador's so those aren't too bad.

Hearing all these horror stories about your Trials experiences makes me glad I'm not playing that mode. I might never make it to the lighthouse but I'll always have that 30 kill/7000 point Iron Banner match that my team of noobs somehow lost... lol

The bounties are really easy this week. 4 of them just have you taking out a group of wolves and they are all right at the start of the patrols/missions (One Cosmodrome patrol, One Moon Patrol, One right by VoG start, and that new "mission" on the moon that takes about 45 seconds to complete) . I am having trouble finding the Pack of Wolves in the Hellmouth consistently though. Always seems like there is nobody even around when I do moon patrol.

800 ascendant energy!? OK, I play this game a lot and I haven't even converted any energy and I don't have nearly that much!

I had a 28 kill, 5000+ match yesterday. That was fun. I don't remember if we lost or not, but I think it was close either way.

I was at 4 1/2 on my last character before I did the Trials run last night so at around 4am I went back to IB to finish that up. I didn't even need to complete a bounty. With the Monday boon + the 2x catchup I got it after losing one match then winning the next - boom, 1200+ rank from 1 win and 1 medallion redeemed...

So the catch-up bonus was a really nice thing. I spent far longer playing Iron Banner last time when I just got 1 character to rank 5 and 2 to rank 4. This time I got them all to rank 5 in probably 1/2-2/3 the time. I got an Iron Wrath (10x kills without dying) yesterday and that alone gave me like 1200 rank (half a level).

I have at least 7 etheric light I'm not even sure what to do with. I ascended a Fatebringer for each character to save me on Vault swapping. I should probably do the same with 2 more Black Hammers. Then I could do a few random armor pieces I suppose. Just this week I pulled 11 etheric light: 6 from IB, 3 from level 34 PoE, and 1 from level 35 PoE. So I didn't even get max it out as I skipped 2 35 PoE and didn't get any from Trials.

Speaking of Trials, I was thinking about this. It is almost unfair biased towards elite PvPers because they could probably get 6 etheric light (or more since the Lighthouse can also have them) in about 2 hours of game time. Doing it via Iron Banner or PoE takes a lot longer. So, yeah, the really good people then get even better (with lots of ascended weapons). But at least the gear aspect will even out soon enough as others get more light.

Well that's pretty similar to PoE if you think about it. The really good players can get thru the arenas in 20-30min.

So you could get the same amount of EL from running the 34 & 35 PoE's on all three toons.

If anything is off, it's the elemental weapon rewards. From what I can tell, Lighthouse visitors are pretty much guaranteed an elemental weapon but defeating Skolas doesn't do the same

Ran the Level 28 twice and the Level 32 twice and got one of the newer hunter armor exotic arms with 4X damage from behind. So I guess that a free shard since I dont have a hunter. I also got two "Her Right Hand" auto rifles which i already had. I also got the "Dreamwalker" rocket launcher and the machine gun. I kept the machine gun and dismantled everything else. I also finished the iron banner and bought a set of arms and boots for my warlock plus the scout rifle. Looking at the scout rifles stats I thought I would like it more but it fires a little too slow for me. I started experimenting sniping on the larger maps in the iron banner and had a little success. I would like to pick up another PoE sniper and reroll it to get the hidden hand perk.

UGH. I didnt go to bed until 3:30 and was up at 7. Bah humbug. I ended up sticking to IB a bunch late last night and finished up my Hunter to 5 and then my Warlock as well. On top of that though I needed to farm for glimmer just to buy those last Etheric Lights. Now I have 4 extra just sitting there and I am not sure what to use them on.

I am thinking The Fulcrum for ToO and then maybe Exodus Plan. Now I should start looking into the ideal armors for my Warlock and Titan and use the remaining ones and the ones from this upcoming week on that.

How is everyone else doing with Etheric Light? Like I said my main push was week 1 and then after that I haven't really needed to push for more since I was largely covered.

I finished my last 35 run last night and that left me with 11 etheric light left. I have only ascended VoC, Fang, Void LDR, Arc Efrideets and Void Jolder. Will probably pick out a few more weapons that I use and ascend them this week but for the most part those are the weapons I use 99% of the time. Didn't do all my 34 or 32 runs but plan to this week since I finally have exotic bounties to work on with each character.

Looks like Skolas is Solar Burn again so get your GHs out. 34 is a new PoE, which would be the last new one based on the grimoire cards. 32 is Machine wrath that was the 34 last week. .

NF is the new strike with Solar and Void burns. Weekly is Phogoth with Small Arms modifier. I might actually run the Weekly this week after sitting out Omnigul last week.

Yay!  3rd Gjallarhorn on my first Nightfall this week!  I don't even care that I got a Legendary Engram and a Lucky Raspberry (w/worse roll) on my other 2 runs.  Funny thing is on the next run, one of my friends got his 3rd Gjallarhorn as well :D   The guy from the first run doesn't have one so he was a bit salty.  Now I don't have to move weapons, well until I get enough Etheric Light to ascend all the primaries I have multiples of.  :)

Damn sorry for the double post guys.

Broly what did you have for perks on your Fulcrum? I have Luck In The Chamber and Outlaw but was debating a re-roll of that.

I like the Fulcrum, but that Ill will is just like the IB pistol. I have mine set up for PvE, but I want to get final round & luck in the chamber on that thing since only 7 rounds.

I stayed up til 3, too, with IB, getting all to 5 (finishing bounties I didn't need to). I got the 10 kills bounty on all 3 chars, and was on 3.25 rank, so I was building up 4 bounties to turn in. It was needed on 1st character, but on last to, I went from 3.75 rank to 5 with just 2 bounties (one was the 200 pt 10 kills bounty), then the others just gave exp. I swore I wouldn't do same on 3rd char, but still only needed 2 bounties (same ones) to go that far, and I had 4 to turn in.

I have 9 Light in vault, but upgraded 5 total armor pieces maybe? Then, I ascended Word, FB, Praedyths rev, E. Spear, BH, Vision (that's all I can think of). I feel let down this is Solar on 35 again. I guess that's all the challenge. With new gear, it will be easier with the fallen, hive, vex, cabal perks on the armors, so I guess it will start to get boring. I will keep at it to get that kell scout w burn, armor, & shotty because I have terrible RNG luck with weapons. I probably won't get a single one from Skolas this week, but we'll see.

I use SureShot IS, Final Round, Braced Frame and Luck in the Chamber. Ends up with a 6 bullet clip and one of the first 5 deals a bonus damage and then the last one does too so it is pretty solid. I was going to do that with Ill Will but the overall stats are so poor other than the Range and Impact on that gun I wanted an overall great handcannon that just has the potential to do crazy damage. I love it and find it to be a perfect primary to go with my Queenbreakers Bow. If there was a perk that let you switch to that weapon faster, I would be all over it though because if you miss that headshot with the Qbb you have very limited time to act and even just a second quicker to swap to my primary could make all the difference in getting the kill or getting killed.

I never did Skolas first week but is "42 GH to the face" definitely the best strategy or would the sniper strategy work better?  He wipes you with on scorch cannon shot, correct?

Also has anyone ever had more than 1 elemental primary drop from a Skolas kill?  Had a guy last night saying that only the one who gets a kill shot on Skolas has a chance to get an elemental primary to drop.  BS or true?

Well, I should correct that. Trials actually gives you 9+ Etheric Light since I think you get at least one and maybe more from the Lighthouse as well, plus the ones from 6 and 8. Oh yeah, plus you get some great armor along the way, too, that doesn't need to be ascended. Meanwhile Judgment's Chances usually give you (or at least me) crappy weapons. Then, yes, you get the guaranteed weapon as well. And I really don't think pros are getting through the 35 in 20-30 minutes. The 34, yes, but not the 35.

So really good PvP players can get 3-4 etheric light, plus an elemental weapon, a guaranteed good armor piece plus a chance at more, in about an hour. For PoE you have to go through 32, 34, and 35 to get 2 etheric light, a lower than 50% chance at armor, and an even lower chance ay an elemental primary with one of the main perk slots being used up for a very specific Fallen-themed perk. I can't see all of that being less than 2 hours though it is infinitely more accessible than Trials.

I have 7 or 8 in the Vault. I cleared 11 of them last week and that was without getting any from Trials and one of my 35's. So I got 6 from IB, and 5 from PoE (but probably spent 20-30 hours getting those). I ended up ascending all 3 of my Fatebringers so I don't have to swap and will probably do the same for Black Hammer.

I used LFG to get one quick Skolas clear. It went so well I decided to do another and I had even saved my Titan for last. Since a Titan is pretty much required (for the Weapons of Light bubble) I thought that would be the easy one. Nope... Got in a team and I knew pretty quickly that it wasn't going to work when they were excited over finally breaking the servitor's bonds. I don't know what they were using, but while I'm getting my 9500 crit shots with Efrideet's Spear, they were barely doing any damage and one guy kept shooting rockets which makes him move around too much. I bailed on them after 4-5 tries - said I had to meet up with some other people even though I really didn't ;). So the one Judgement's Chance I got from the first run turned into my freaking third Dreg's Promise (hand cannon). I hate Variks. I think I've done 9 of them now and 7 have been crappy weapons. Hell, I've gotten more Dreg's Promises (3) than I have armor (2). FYI - Variks has strength boots this week which is no surprise at all. So I will be using my armor cores from 32 this week for more futile attempts at Judgment's Chances.

Solar burn again? I really thought they'd go with some other modifier. Well, looks like I need to get me 3 35 kills for sure this week. Now that I have arms with faster heavy reload speed that should help even more.

So I guess everyone was burned out with PvP this week because pretty much no one was on at reset. There's another reason for me to hate Trials - it is taking over the game. I was about to log off but then one guy got on and we two-manned the Nightfall. It is pretty quick with the two burns - but you got to watch out for that Scorch Cannon. We wiped at the end on our third run when neither of us had a Warlock (the previous two times we had self-res but of course never had to use it). But we queued it up and did it again in just over 10 minutes. My void pulse rifle from Skolas with Vandal burn was actually pretty damn useful for this NF. I had ascended a Word of Crota and didn't even use it.

Our rewards were kind of pathetic. For the 3 runs we got an identical set of rewards: Truth, a legendary weapon engram, and a lame legendary weapon (his was a bullet hose machine gun and mine was a super low-impact sniper rifle). What are the odds we both got the same 3 type of rewards?

As for the Weekly Heroic, I actually ended up doing it last week and it wasn't too bad. I only did it because I needed to glimmer farm to buy all the IB gear and Omnigul is not a bad one to do that on.

Damn that's a nice roll. I have an Ill Will that I was trying to roll with those perks but after like 15 tries (and running out of Glimmer again) I could never get Luck and Final Round together. I also just got a Fulcrum from Iron Banner. You really think that is a better overall gun to use? I also need to re-roll my Radagast's Fury and/or another max blast radius rocket launcher I got for proximity detonation.

Definitely BS. I know I post a lot, but if you look back at my summary of the 3 Skolas kills we did this week on the same run, you can see what our rewards were each time. On two of the kills, two of us got elemental primaries. So it is definitely not just for the one who gets the kill shot. I think I may have even been dead for one of the kills, though I'm not sure about that.

The new 34 sounds interesting: "Cult of the Worm". The description mentions someone "the Unclean". It sounds Hive-y - maybe an ogre or something. Because one of our regular guys was not on last night we didn't even attempt any PoE after 2-manning the Nightfalls. So I'm up for any and all PoE runs with CAGs tonight.

I NEED weapon parts. I can trade for motes & glimmer, but buying weapons & breaking them down isn't really a good way to get them. Strikes, yes, but when it takes 100+ weapon parts to get my gun exact perks, then I find a better gun, I used over 500 weapon parts :(.

I always love comparing the specific stats online and not just the ones in game so I can actually make it far more objective rather than the subjective nature of just trying them out yourself and thinking one is better at one thing or the other.

When you look at the base stats as well as the hidden attributes of Aim Assist, Equip Speed and Zoom The Fulcrum knocks Ill Will out of the water. The only thing Ill Will wins is that both the Impact and Range are noticeably higher. That means it will hit for a bit more damage but at the trade off of EVERYTHING ELSE. It is worth noting that with Braced Frame the increased Stability brings The Fuclrum's to the 70 range of stability which is really solid as well.

If you are outnumbered with Ill Will you are going to have a hell of a struggle whereas with The Fulcrum your survivability is much greater. Really it comes down to how you plan on using it though as I cannot say one is clearly better than the other; I just know personally I would rather have a far more versatile gun especially since I am running it with the Queenbreakers Bow which in itself is already super high risk/ high reward.

The Fulcrum

Ill Will

Damn, that's a nice site. What I'm seeing there, though, is that the odds of getting Final Round and Luck In The Chamber is super-low since each is a 1/8 chance (so the odds of getting both, if my ancient math skills are correct, is just 1-in-64). So that was a very lucky roll. I guess I'll keep trying as long as I have the materials for it, but it might take a while.

Looking at all the possible perks, it seems like there is no good alternative to Final Round in the first slot. And while Luck In The Chamber would obviously be the best one for the second slot, it probably wouldn't be too bad with Hidden Hand or Spray and Play (which would play nice with Final Round).

Since I have one of each (Ill Will and Fulcrum) I'll keep rerolling both until I get close, then roll the other till I get the perfect one.

Plus Braced Frame is ideal too so that not only your stability increases but your mag size decreases as well which means your chances of scoring a bonus damage per bullet is even higher and you get to the final round quicker. Hah so that needs to be thrown into the equation too! Just don't think of the statistics and be hopeful haha :p

Yeah, I didn't even want to consider the other perks. But at least now I know if I do pull both of those main perks, I won't be picky about the others. And I also know to maybe stop at Final Round/Hidden Hand. Since I have the two guns to roll, I can stop on one and then work on the other.

They are adding Elimination as a normal PvP game type!

I absolutely loved the game type for ToO and literally said the first day I played, "Man I wish this was just a normal game type as well!" and here it is! : D

EDIT

And I just read the bottom that says it is only for a week. Wtf. Hey you know that game type you like? Eh we will only let you play it once in a while. I freaking paid for this game and all the dlc both here and on the PS4 and I cannot just play what I want when I want?

Meh: I'm kind of sick of elimination. But now I'll feel I need to play it to get better at Trials. But then so will everyone else.

I've seriously considered just up and quitting this game to save myself all the time and headaches. Trials and the lack of balance in PvP vs. PvE that HoW introduced has brought this about. I remember being pretty steamed that they kept bringing back this Iron Banner thing after just having the Queen's Wrath PvE event once. But at least then we had two relatively new raids (and normal/hard for each with different mechanics) to keep us busy. PoE is OK, but already kind of boring. They still need to have limited time PvE events in the game after teasing us with Queen's Wrath. I remember in the first few weeks thinking how cool it was going to be that they would have one PvE weekly event followed by one PvP weekly event. But they just never followed up on the PvE side. The lame Queen's bounties aren't cutting it.

I should add that the lack of 6-player content might also be part of the problem I'm having. It has splintered our usual groups and I think discouraged a few people from coming back to the game at all. The game feels more "solitary" now. It almost feels like I'm back at the beginning again when I just played solo but yet way more bored with the grind of that than I was at first.

But, having said that, until I do decide to quit...

So I need to roll a Rocket Launcher as well. I have a Radegast's Fury and an Uppercut Payload.

Uppercut:

Rate of Fire: 18
Blast Radius: 96
Velocity: 36
Reload: 49
Aim assist: 50

Radegast:

Rate of Fire: 4
Blast Radius: 96
Velocity: 70
Reload: 62
Aim assist: 23

What do you think about these? I'm thinking Radegast's Fury is a little better because of the higher velocity. Rate of fire isn't quite so important on a RL, but man is that one slow!

In either case I'd reroll to get either Clown Cartridge or Tripod and then Grenades and Horseshoes.

I have the stock Rocket Launcher from Dead Orbit that comes with Tripod and Grenades and Horseshoes and it is pretty good in PvP. But it is lacking a bit in blast radius so I thought maybe one of these would be better. And I'd love to get Clown Cartridge to see how that works out.
