Update for the guy that UPS lost his xbox

They haven't found it, I called again today and she's investigating it. I asked her if a copy of the receipt would be ok and she said that would be just fine. So I need your help again cagers. Please, if anyone has a copy of their receipt of either a core or an arcade version of their xbox 360 purchase (preferably paid in cash) would you be so kind as to send me a scan of that and then I can get my 360 back. I would be more than willing to compensate you for your time and thoughtfulness. Please PM me asap because I'm supposed to get a call back today letting me know the final "ruling." Thank you!

edit: I guess it really doesn't matter how it was paid for because the credit information is not listed on the receipt besides the last 4 numbers. She called back and gave me an email address now just waiting for a very nice cager!

Do you guys think that by having a laptop cooler, that uses the 360 for power, would be too much and take away too much from the 360?

Well my friend got his 360 back yesterday. Looks like he got a letter saying that his old xbox has been swapped out for another one. He claims it's *new* but his bios is reporting 2006. I told him to check his serial numbers and date and he told me that this is NOT his original. When he gets back from work he will check the date..but in all cases I think he got someone else's 360. He got a 1 month live card. Two weeks from the time he got his coffin to the time he got it back.

Well Fedex sucks balls! M$ emailed a UPS 3 day select shipping label and I sent my system back last week. They received it friday morning sent out back to me via Fedex on saturday. Looks like it sat somewhere untill 5:40 tuesday before arriving at Fedex location whatever that means. So even though it left M$ saturday Fedex didn't start moving it towards me till tuesday night! Estimated arrival time shows as friday and ship date shows as tuesday ......bastards.

Feb 5, 2008 5:40 PM Arrived at FedEx location FORT WORTH, TX
Feb 2, 2008 7:24 PM Package data transmitted to FedEx REYNOSA, TA
4:20 PM Picked up WESLACO, TX

To those wanting to check your status you can always call 18004myxbox and just keep saying customer service or operator to get through Max and the rep will give you your tracking number on the return system. YMMV on a decent speaking operator to repeat the numbers back to you. :D

Well, I got my box yesterday. I opened up the instructions and found a piece of paper which told me to check the boxes under certain issues that my console was experiencing.

My disc drive doesn't open vertically, and I was thinking about not checking the box "Issues with Disc Drive not opening or closing", but I decided if they did check and it wasn't working right and I didn't check the box that they would hold it against me. So, I checked the box. I also checked RRoD.

Anyhow, sent the box out today -- with no shipping insurance (didn't have money with me and didn't feel like waiting an extra day). If it gets lost, shit. lol.

Is the system supposed to have an internal clock to remember the time even when you unplug power and do not connect to live? My replacement system doesn't remember the time, so I have to either reset or connect to live.

I finally received my replacement console today. It has the original serial number with the manufactured of 12-23-2005.

On a different note. I called support to get the undertow token that they said they would provide once I receive the new box. After being on the phone for what seemed like a hour they finally told me that I would have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to give me one...

Well this sucks... my disc drive has stopped working. It doesnt even attempt to read a disc now, it just says "Open Tray." I've tried turning it off and on, opening and closing the tray, unplugging the system... nothing seems to work... :(

when i was playing halo last night my display started getting a green tint, I rebooted and it went away for a while, but now it's pretty much constant, and it's started flickering. It's not my tv or the cables, as i've tried different cables and different things hooked up to the same inputs on my tv. looks like it's time to call ms. anyone else seen this problem?

I don't know why nothing happened on Monday, but Fedex doesn't run on the weekends

Well, fuckballs. Mine finally crapped out on me, I guess as a result of watching 3 seasons of Lost in a week and playing 15 hours of Saints Row over the last 3 days.

Finally got my system back today... 12 days total it took and this was with them emailing me a shipping label instead of waiting for a coffin. First time they've used Fedex to return my system and they suck the package sat around way to much from tracking results. I will plead for UPS return delivery whenever I need to order system #5.

Now back to DMC4 on my PS3. :shame:

Holy sweet jesus....do they strap the dead units to a goddamn half-blind donkey?
It took 5 days to get the coffin and it's looking like at least a week to get from PA to TX. Good Lord. I paid for an extended warranty, and this is what I get? Bastard ass whores.

Oh, and the guy behind me at the UPS store was also sending in his 360. F this.

Add me to the group. :whistle2:(

I've been getting the RROD intermittently for a couple of days. It was working perfectly, but ever since the problem began, I've also been getting disc read errors and the HDD related error 68, apart from the screen freezing with graphic artifacts.

It seems everything decided to die at the same time. I even had to buy an overpriced memory card to back up my game save files.

At least they shipped the empty box via 2-day air to Puerto Rico, which I didn't expect.

When I went to the Fedex terminal the guy who found my package was like enjoy your 360. I didn't say anything about what I was getting and the box says M$ nowhere on it. They just handle enough of them to know.....

Forgot to mention in my last post that with system #4 yesterday I got my first we be SOOOO sorry gift. A double sided English/Spanish note with a 1 month Xbox Live subscription card. Keep your damn $6 card and upgrade our shipping! Everyone getting these now?

and just repeating for newcomers to the thread: SAVE YOUR COFFIN AND HAVE THEM EMAIL YOU A SHIPPING LABEL! Knock 3-4 days off the process. :)

Do you call them and ask for a shipping label, or can you do this online via request repair?

My FedEx guy yesterday was like, "this is the package everyone is waiting for." I told him, "you have no idea...".

My (#2) was gone for 14 days this time and they sent another free month of live. The system seems to be okay for now... I still got my original console back and I can't tell if anything has been done to it.

You know what? I am thinking based on what I have read, a lot of people are getting new 360's instead of there old units back. I have my 2 year unlimited exchange coverage with Microcenter...which allows me to go back when the thing fucks up and get another refurb. I am already on my 3rd box in the last 6 months. 1st one had the hard drive fail and RRoD 28 days after I got it, second one was perfect til the Hard drive got fucked up and causes halo 3 to lock up but played everything fine (didn't know it was the hard drive til I swapped it out with the 3rd system). The 3d one sounds louder than the first 2 and the hard drive had someone else's profile (tsk tsk Microcenter for not wiping out the hard drive before packing it). It's working but the power button feels like it's stuck (you have to push it a bit harder to turn it on).

My friend who got his 360 back the other day is claiming his system is brand new. So I figure, to hell with Microcenter. Next time this RRoD on me, I am ordering my coffin. However the problem is that MS has the other serials on file from the first 2, I already ordered the coffin for the first one (that the hard drive and system RRoD on me). Would it be easy for me to call MS, tell them to wipe out the two serial numbers from the first two and register the 3rd one and cancel any repair work order so that if I do send in my 3rd box, there won't be a mishap saying "This unit (my 3rd) does not match the serial number we have on file for you." and get my unit shipped back or lost.

Funny, my Xbox 360 was delivered yesterday from FedEx, and the first thing the FedEx guy says "here's your Xbox 360, enjoy", and the box literally says NOTHING about Xbox or Microsoft. So I ask him if he deals a lot with returned Xbox 360's, and his response was "Oh god yes."

This is the first time I've had to send my 360 in, but yeah.. I also received the apology letter along with a card for a month of Xbox Live.

Here's a funny story on how my 360 redringed. I put in COD4 to play multiplayer with my nephew, he throws a grenade for fun and it fucking crashes. So I go to turn it off and back on and he says it would be funny if it redrings. We get back to the same place and he throws the grenade again and I tell him, you have got to be shitting me. Yep, it redringed that time and for good.

So how did everyone's redringed?

Well I just turned on my system and got the E79 error screen and was like wtf?!?!?!

Learned it was the hard drive that died. How the hell can that happen if it's 28 days old?!?!

Turned it off, waited a few minutes..turned it back on, same problem.

Turned it off, waited an hour...turned it back on RROD!!!!

:bomb:

talk about shitty luck.
Do you call them and ask for a shipping label, or can you do this online via request repair?
I've never used the online thing I always call 18004myxbox because I enjoy playing English roulette with customer support. Just tell them you have your coffin and ask them to email you a shipping label rather than sending you a box. It took several hours but I got the prepaid label for 3 day select via UPS. I had told the rep I would like to send the system in myself like I did last time and she was like no don't do that we'll email you a label! So they can do it just ask. :D

I seriously thought this would never happen to me. Thought you guys were unlucky. Turns out, I'm a clueless douche.

My 360 is having a weird problem. Everything (GoW for example) plays fine for like 15 minutes and then the colors become messed up. I think the GPU overheated and broke.
Now, I know Microsoft extended the warranty to 3 years, but does that just apply to RRoD consoles? I bought mine at a Best Buy in Jan. 2006 with no warranty. How should I approach this?

Mine red ringed tonight after having it for a year. Why not, it's the first nigt of my weekend. Might as well make it so I'm stunned. Looking forward to having it gone for the better part of a month...

Shit mine went out right before a 2 week vacation

i have the same problem. i get like a green tint after a few minutes of playing a game. it's really annoying. thankfully my box is still under warranty and i'm waiting on a coffin now.

the 3 year warranty just covers RRoD consoles. but you might get away with it if you just say your console has RRoD'd... not to promote fraud. but you don't even have to be on the phone, you can request a repair on xbox.com/support, might work. otherwise it's $99 to fix it.

So this is a my second Premium 360 (non-hdmi 20 gb) since Black friday 06. This one I've had since about June 07.

Recently when it would boot up, the screen would flicker for a second but then the picture would be fine. Today I go to turn it on and the screen remains black, with faint diagonal lines running across the screen. I checked all the connections and they were all solid. Then I tried it on a buddy's HDTV, then, there were short white lines in columns all across the screen.

The weird thing is that the audio is fine through the tv and even through the optical out in my surround sound.

Is this the way console number 2 is going to die or is it the AV cable.
And if it does die, how do I send it to Microsoft? The first one was under warranty at EB so I just swapped it out.

Can someone check for me if their 360 keeps the clock settings after you unplug the power and do NOT connect to Live? I'm not sure if my replacement is faulty or not.
looks like mine is due to be delivered today. So much for sending me an email when it shipped
well crap its 7:23 and still no delivery. How late does Fedex deliver?
My USB port seems to be not working. If this needs to be repaired it will be numero cinco for me. This one has been working great and now this.
unplugged everything and now it is golden, thank god. I really didn't want to go through the return process again

Both my original and replacement did.

I've had a first gen 360 and it's been working perfectly for the longest time. I've never had any of the power supply problems that were rampant during the release and I've never had the RRoD...until yesterday. I tried turning it on to play CoD4, but I had the rings staring at me in spite. The towel trick actually worked though, but I've had on and off success with the reliability. So in the end, I broke down and had M$ send me the coffin. Now, it's just a waiting game.

same boat as you! first gen 360 worked fine forever, until today.. just called. very sad call. And all I wanted to do was watch Grey's Anatomy tonight!

Ok this is my first time coming into this thread, so pardon my ignorance :)

LUCKILY my 360 works perfectly fine.
But I do have a question.
Do they simply fix your system or send you a new one?

If my 360 (premium) was to die, would it be possible to get a Pro (HDMI) in return? They are essentially the same thing.. just one has an HDMI port.
