No you don't have to play awakening. This is its own self-contained story.

As for order, I recommend starting Birthright first since that is the easier path compared to Conquest. You don't want to go from a hard campaign into an easier one since it ruins the fun of tactical gameplay. Do Revelation last since its the "true" path.

Welp so far no luck for me can't buy anything from the online store or on the system. Trying to buy the new walking dead and it keeps telling page not found or content not available when i do it from the system.

 
So hopefully I'm the only one but has anyone still been stuck on "Preparing your shipment" for Fire Emblem? My order went to backordered twice so at this point I'm not that confident it will actually ship.

There are still a lot of mid-March shipping estimates for both Best Buy and Amazon, so likely a second shipment is inbound. I hope some of those go up for sale for MSRP (and that I can get one). -_-

If not, I'll be waiting it out on a used game purchase. I'm not paying the same amount (or more) for just the game itself. fuck that.

I know these games tend to restock very slowly, or not restock at all.

Best Buy customer service on the forums has pretty much stopped responding at all. Well, except to tell people that received damaged copies that their only choice is to return the item for a refund. Really awful handling of this release all around from Best Buy.

 
Was happy to receive my Fire Emblem SE undamaged from BB. They actually sent it in a battery box this time which helped tremendously over the horrid bubble mailer they used for Xenoblade. 

Hopefully all the bs is just due to them needing more packaging material or something.

The irony is that a large chunk of eBay orders from before still aren't even fulfilled yet, or cancelled, so I guess they're equal opportunity screwing people out of their FESE.

As you are aware, many of the remaining orders were pushed out yesterday.  Regrettably there are still some that have not gone out despite the work that has been done thus far.  While we won't be able to get any specifics on internal Best Buy systems or procedures, we can confirm that things did not go as planned with this title and the work to fulfill orders is ongoing.  I am sorry we have not had more information to provide, but please understand that it is not our intent to let any orders go unfulfilled.  Your continued patience is greatly appreciated.

That sucks that a lot of you still haven't gotten orders in. I talked to Corporate yesterday morning and the lady honestly told me she heard about the delays and the distribution center not sending them out on time but has no idea what the problem is. She did agree though that customer service in the entire ordeal is severely lacking.

I am happy mine is coming this week finally. I hope you guys get it too. It's just insane that such a large company cannot answer a few simple questions on the status of the order and what is going on. The lack of communication is terrible.

By now if you didn't get a shipping notice, I'm sure you won't get the initial shipment but I do believe there's still a chance for you to get in on a second shipment. Amazon acquired a second stock of these to be received sometime over the next month. That means Nintendo obviously has some sitting in a warehouse somewhere in the world. Hopefully BB will be able to get dibs on some of these to fulfill the remaining preorders. It does however seem like more and more that the eBay orders may have screwed up a portion of the preorders like yours. Not all 2,000 orders were fulfilled either. So hopefully some of the cancellations will work out in some way. Worst case scenario is that I'd bet on Best Buy compensating unfulfilled orders given that they just handed out $20 to everybody that preordered.

Kind of fascinating that the secondary market of these are holding strong. Usually they dip after release when everybody picks up the extras but it never did and this looks like it won't get a reprint so this will be a truly rare SE.

Wow, how does Bestbuy sell them on ebay when they haven't fulfilled preorders. I know most of the Ebay orders were canceled but still a few hundred got through.

Do you know for sure Amazon will get another batch in March or is it only a theory cause they took orders for it last Thursday. I actually question whether Amazon really is getting another batch from Nintendo or they were just expecting some returns or maybe even some of their original orders were late from Nintendo. But regardless, even if there is a March shipment, isn't that technically sold out too?

I'm not judging on any fact other than on past history. Amazon has the best record in terms of fulfilling preorders. If I had to rank them, I would put it in order of best to worst: Amazon, Gamestop, and Best Buy. I can't remember the last time Amazon has ever cancelled on a preorder. When you even look at the really rare items like the Juggernog edition, they opened up orders again for a brief 30 minute window at one point. Their inventory management is second to none. I don't think the second batch of FE SE's are related to any anticipation of returns. That second run was up for a few hours at least. No way all of the orders that were taken were for expected returns. If Best Buy eBay sold 2,000 units over a shorter duration, there's no way Amazon would have sold more than that in relation to expected returns. Every now and then, they'll just simply clear out remaining stock out of their warehouse when they find one or two units that are loose stragglers even. The Pip-boy and Juggernog editions periodically are put up for sale directly by Amazon. I was able to snag a Juggernog edition just a couple of weeks ago and it was definitely brand new as it came inside the Activision shipping box. If this was an error on Amazon's part, they would have cancelled the second batch by now. The fact that they provided an updated estimated delivery date means they received some sort of word from Nintendo's inventory team.

I think the source of the second stock are the late orders from Nintendo. After all, these were technically preorders before the game was released and yet after the initial preorders were shipped.

Picked up my copy at the local Best Buy this morning. Kind of glad I preordered as there were none for sale to the general public. The game itself comes with a slipcover using the art from the standard release, which I actually like better then the art used on the steelbook. The steelbook itself is OK though my main gripe with it is the spine is blank. I guess it doesn't matter much since I'll be keeping the slipcover on it.

The game looks so bland. Far Cry 3 was my favorite title of 2012 too.

Prices took a substantial dip after everyone received their Best Buy orders on Monday. They were selling for $270-295 in previous recent days on Amazon and now there are many listed for $230-245. The aftermarket price has dropped from $220 to $200 on Ebay in recent days.

Just seems like they went backwards even though they copy pasted Far Cry 3, in addition to the lack of weapon selection and story; just borderline lazy. Same thing happened with Far Cry 4 and probably the next 8 Far Crys

I'm just hoping my Far Cry Deluxe Edition ships in a box and not a plastic sack with no padding.  fucking BB is 0/3 in the last month, having all my disc orders come smashed/damaged.  Getting real tired of their shit tbh.

Can't speak to Primal since I haven't played it yet, but I liked Far Cry 4 better than 3.

I always hear people that think the opposite, but FC3 just never clicked for me. Just wanted to point out that which you imply as fact for the series is honestly just your opinion, and others do exist.
 
Farcry Primal does have bargain bin written all over it.  It doesn't help when companies like Ubisoft, EA, and Activision perpetually cheapen their own brand names through imminent, major price slashing. 

It'll be $40 in four weeks and $20 in 2-3 months.  That's one thing you can count on.

Sounds like Nintendo goofed somewhere and not Best Buy. This is business as usual per Nintendo and their CEs that sell out in 5 seconds.

Never implied what I said is superior in any way, so lets put the petty emotions aside. Simply explained and dissected my opinion into text. How you inferred what I said; is also your opinion, but doesn't mean its right.

To be fair, anything by Ubisoft is bargain bin material, usually within a month. If I didn't get the Deluxe Edition I was going to pick it up at $15 or under, probably by Christmas.

Well, yeah. Ubi games nearly always drop by at least $20 within their first 4-6 weeks.

No emotions on my part, just stating I prefer 4 over 3. I know I'm in the minority with that one, I just like to make that known whenever people crap on FC4.
 
I remember when Assassin's Creed Syndicate dropped ~50% in exactly 4 weeks.  

MSRP $60, and it dropped to $35 a month later.  Granted, it was during the Holiday sales, but it just goes to show that Ubisoft games are not the premium series that holds it's price tag like others.

If don't need Primal right away, wait and save some money.

I'm waiting for my crushed copy of FESE too from Walmart, so I will feel your pain, sometime in the next few days. :*(

 
I liked FC4 better also. Main reason was the environments. The northern environments were gorgeous, and I liked exploring them a lot better than those of FC3. It had a Canadian forest or maybe Baltic country feel to some of the areas, with the light snow falling and the colors on the leaves. In general, I thought the world was just designed better and more fun to play in. Also, I didn't like the final acts in FC3. At least FC4 ended properly, and without spoilers, those of you who played both know what I mean. FC3 should have ended with a certain villain and it didn't.
