[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

the girl that did it didn't even know whats going on she just scanned it and i just swiped my card. i also found out the DCR-DVD108 is $35 like you mentioned, but i couldnt find it in the glass case.. the girl was not very helpful she just told me "if its not there, its out of stock". it could have been an open box since i did see the price sticker with it but at the retail price they are selling it for. too bad. i checked the other K's but none of them have any sony camcorders.

Looks like the K-Mart by me is in the middle of re-organizing their video game cases. The middle case where all the PSP games were was completely empty. Later I found out they moved the PSP titles into one of the display cases by the register. They had added additional titles to the $19.99 clearance area. I was able to snag a copy of Wipeout Pure for $5.

While rummaging through the clearance games and got excited when I found:

All of these are ones I wanted to add to my collection so I was really hoping to get them on the cheap. Zelda rang up $49.99 and Baten Kaitos rang up $39.99 :bomb::bomb::bomb:

Street Fighter rang up out of the system so I thought I was onto something: no such luck. The electronics guy was stumped. He had no idea what to charge me for the game. Then he asks me where I found it. I told him over in the pile of clearance games (where else would I find it? I can't get into the case...). He thinks for a moment, looks over at the clearance area, then says "Oh, all the games over there are $19.99 so that's the price!" Yeah all the games on that rack are $19.99, that's why I just got a copy of Wipeout for $5 from that same shelf!!! :bomb::bomb:


Knowing logic has no place in the K-Mart universe and the fact that I had to pick up pizzas for my son's birthday party I decided to leave rather than try to argue my point.

that was clearanced at a penny 2 summers ago.. i know since every i was on the hunt to look for it.

Thanks sucks about your bad experience. I saw a few things at a K-mart yesterday that rang $.01. 64mb memory, 360 remote and ps3 memory card adapter. That was enough for me to ask for a manager. $3 for the 64mb, $2 for the remote and $1.50 for the adapter. Any less than that and it would not have been worth it.

Funny thing is, the manager looked up the old price w/ the handheld scanner. I didn't think they could do that, I thought they just had to know that stuff goes to 90% off and then it is OOS.

My one friend from out in the Midwest who works for Kmart told me that they could do that about 2-3 years ago and even wrote down the procedure into an e-mail for me.

However, I lost said e-mail and I have since been relying on the knowledge(or lack thereof) of my local Kmart employees. Many of them receive the basic training like most retail workers and have NO IDEA what the hell I'm talking about.
 
I think sometimes the managers don't like what the scanner shows and then makes up some price to sell it for.

I found some candy last year that was check shelf price. A few weeks before that it was ringing up for $0.27 a bag. I didn't have my receipt or would have used that but I took about 25 bags (they weren't for me) to the cashier and when it prompted him to enter a price, I told him they were 90% off, $0.27. He took it to the customer desk and the person there used the handheld scanner and said $2.00 a bag. I said no thanks and left the cart.

Then another time I found some games out of the system, I said they are supposed to be 90% off. They call a manager and he says to give me 90% off of the stickered price. Most were tagged full price anyway so I didn't save any extra except for 1 game tagged $16.00 so I got it for $1.60 instead of $2.00. I hate how it depends on the manager especially since both of those instances were in the same store.

Even worse is since Christmas of last year, no candy has gone past 50%. I don't know what happens with it but the few bags missed then come up as Check Shelf Label.
 
I have had luck with using receipts to get items for the correct price, the problem is you have to have the receipt. Perhaps we could help each other out if everyone were to scan their receipts for the cheap items. Yes I know it can be looked up in the hand scanner but sometimes getting an employee to do that is impossible, esp. at my kmart where the employees look like they came from I don't know where. The grocery store cashier and the cashiers at walmart are more friendly than any kmart employee here. This would be very useful for out of system items.

My kmart has a couple copies of Sigma star saga GBA that are marked 29.99 but ring up CSP, I don't even bother.

I don't think they necessarily want everything for themselves, if that was the case then they would be much more diligent about checking the prices, heck if I worked Kmart electronics I would check the price on all clearance items at least once a week probably, provided I had the time. If they wanted everything for themselves I wouldn't be able to get one single thing out of that store. Most of the time its just laziness, they simply don't update the prices on the tags so merchandise sits there forever unless the customer is diligent enough to print barcodes and scan them, and in my area I am sure I am the only one doing that. Either that or its understaffing, which is a likely case considering my kmart lets the lines run around the whole womens clothing department before they even think about hiring one extra cashier.

It's still a free game, but the problem is finding 9 clearance games. I have never realy seen anything at K-Mart I wanted besides clearance games. lol
 
I went to kmart yesterday and scanned some barcodes. My store has not dropped crush or most of the other PSP games listed, although those games were not in stock so that could be the reason why they were not dropped in price. Crush was still 19.99.

However, kirby squeak squad for the DS DID ring up 5$ at the scanner, unfortunately when I looked in the case there were none.

Another game that rung up for 5$ was Crazy Taxi Fare Wars for the PSP, again my store had none left.

My store still has a few UMD movies, any idea about the pricing on these?

Wii games like My Word Coach, Billy and Mandy, Smarty Pants and the Golden Compass are holding at 14.99 or 19.99. Lots of Wii games and DS games at 14.99, so these have not dropped in price yet at least at my store. Yu-gi-oh Spirit caller DS also rang up 14.99 or 19.99. I can't remember as I scanned too many barcodes to remember them all.

Bee Game Wii is still full price.

They have some amazing clearance deals on non game stuff as well but the problem is finding it as the stuff is never tagged. SD used to have a great KMart thread that focused on non video game stuff until it became a coupon discussion thread. I can't speak for anyone else here but I'm not interested in clipping coupons from newspaper inserts that are a few weeks old and trying to find out how to save a little here and there, the clearance stuff is what I was reading that thread for. Unfortunately, no one really seems to be posting clearance stuff on SD anymore. I sometimes randomly scan stuff but have yet to find anything that great.

Some of the exercise equipment was on clearance and I saw a tv stand for $44.
 
My closest Kmart still has 1-3 copies of Stranglehold or at least they did the last time I was down there.

Other than that though, I think someone is really cleaning that one out as well. The other local Kmart had a ton of Wii, PS3 and 360 stuff and now they're cleaned out as well.

For $5, I'll buy damn near any game, but my chances to do so are becoming slimmer and slimmer.

How is this old PS2 game STILL $21! My local store, who does markdowns and I've picked up a hardy bunch of cheap games from, has 8 copys of this game. HOW!??!

Thanks for the info, I edited my post to say no one on SD is posting clearance stuff anymore, I didn't mean it was a problem here since we have the video game clearances listed well and I know the focus on the site is games and SD for everything else.
 
I'm amazed at how many older games kmart is selling for full retail price ($59.99). No wonder they went bankrupt in the past. They have shelves of games just piling over. I'm waiting for them to put some of these titles on clearance but it seems they're only getting rid of the worst possible titles. What an absolutely horrific store to step into.

Most of the coupon clippers at SD are trying to scam the stores with their coupons (redeeming expired coupons, begging for redemption of said coupon, altering the text on coupons etc.), I do clip coupons and scour for online coupon codes but I don't go into the store with 40 at once like some of these people do, seriously what DO you do with all that stuff you buy anyways. I go to SD but this is a problem and usually an altered coupon originates from this site which causes problems for people like me who are trying to use a reasonable amount of coupons in a legitimate manner. A person can only use so much stuff, frankly I have better things to spend my time on then spending an entire day clipping coupons and trying to get stores to redeem them for me. Half of these people are buying things they will never need or use just because its on sale. I really don't know what I would do with 100 tubes of toothpaste and I would not want to have to store them anyways.

At kmart what I do is I look for things I might be interested in buying, then I fill the cart and take it to the scanner to check the prices. I do this with both clearance and non-clearance items. If I think something might be incredibly cheap and I need it for a gift or whatnot then I take it to the scanner as well. I am sure the employees hate me for doing this as I usually just leave the cart in the respective department but if this is going to be their pricing model and they aren't going to bother to keep things updated then this is how I shall continue to find the best deals.

I also look at the date on products, if its an older toy, say 2006, I take it to the scanner to see if it was reduced. You would be amazed at how many older toys are in Kmart, I have seen toys as far back as 2003 in my Kmart and they are still there.

I am a member of both sites (CAG & SD). I used to be able to find some great deals using both sites. CAG for the clearance games & accessories & SD for non games.

However the coupon clippers have hijacked that thread. I saw this coming months ago... I even suggested they create 2 threads for Kmart.. one for clearance & 1 for coupons... You would have thought I ruined a movie or something for them. they were outraged.. Now once in a while someone will post a new clearance find there... but good luck finding them. They are buried by everyone & their bragging on how they bought 20 cases of napkins for $.10 or w/e else they buy.

So now I am stuck trying to find clearance items (non gaming) on my own... I do see some occasionally on Fishing for Deals.. But if anyone here sees any please feel free to post them. Hopefully the gamers dont mind. Personally I am watching for Baby items.. (first kid on the way in April). So if anyone sees any please share them :)

I remember that post, I thought it was a great idea too but I didn't respond seeing the response it got. They have a CVS clearance thread which I find useful so I don't see why they can't have a thread for KMart clearance deals. Maybe we should start one here in the "other deals" forum? I'd be willing to post anything I find but it usually isn't much.

At K-mart, it's selling at the vast majority of them for $14.99, which is only $5 off the original price. Not exactly a revolutionary clearance price if you ask me, but if you want the game, there you go.

Well at my store on Hull Street (Richmond, Va).. They have KLH model 970A speakers on clearance for $6. They are great replacements if you Home Theater in a Box speakers.

They are also KLH Bookshelf speakers on clearance for $10 (originally $50),
 
I found a PSP battery charger for $3. I think it's an original model charger, as there is no mention of "psp-2000" on it. works well. I noticed another store had been clearing these out and then shot the price up to $35 again. GL

The only problem with that would be it would be a drop of new titles to clearance since most of the current clearance titles are now at the $5 price, which is about as low as they usually go.
 
Yeah it seems like nothing has gone under $5 recently which doesn't make sense, it used to be I think 30%, 50%, 75%, 90%. Now it looks like everything starts at $20, then $15, then $10 then $5. The exception was the value games in the spring or summer that went to $1.50 from $14.99.
 
i did notice that before black friday of last year they did alot of $5 games. they did the same this year though it wasn't the exact time as last years.
 
Just to follow up about the whole camcorder clearance thing, while shopping for the $15 one (got an almost-complete open box one, missing the wrist strap...new unavailable in this area), I happened to scan the box of a demo Sony Handycam DCR-HC28, which rang up at $62 on clearance. Well, that unit had the camcorder, and *nothing* else...no wires, no software, nada.

Thankfully, I was dealing with some very cool KM workers, and they were allowing me some pretty liberal use of the register for the purposes of tracking down some clearance stuff at other local stores. Long story short, at a different store, they checked in the back room for me, and at the end of the day, I ended up with a brand new, still-sealed DCR-HC28 for $62! Both salespeople about dropped their jaws, and the one girl said, to her chagrin, "Oh, they're on clearance?" My response? "Why do you think I wanted *that particular one*?" She immediately asked the guy who'd searched: "Were there any more back there?" There should have been...inventory said they had three in stock. Plus, they were mixed in with the HC-52s, and the boxes look basically identical. I'm sure she had one by the end of the day.

Keep looking, folks...those deals are out there. As for the DVD108 mentioned upthread, there are absolutely none of them in this area, and many of the KMs didn't even get them to begin with. Would have been nice to get one for $35, but I still made out pretty good.

I find that I do better finding the deals in Kmart by just looking on my own, which I have been doing for many years even before SD or even cheapassgamer existed, they have been running their stores the same for so long, and constantly mis-marking clearance items forever.

I would post my finds but if no one is going to make use of my posts then I will continue to hunt on my own and not report them, however I will continue to report every gaming find here so that others can benefit from it.

As far as CVS goes we don't have one close enough to us to be bothered, we do have a Walgreens but almost every decent sale and coupon item is magically gone at opening on sunday, its a convenience store and it just can't keep up with the demands of bargain hunters. I bet one person is going in there every day at opening and grabbing all the stuff either that or employees are hoarding it all for themselves.

Went to a new K-Mart today, but was only greeted by 8 Cranium Kabooki. I was looking for actual wants, not flips. I have yet to find a Timeshift, Stranglehold or Transformers yet for the PS3. Only found NFL Tour. However, I DID find a sealed original Clubhouse Games! At least it had a good ending! :D
