[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Also, clearance pricing is an awkward thing. Corporate sends the price changes to the store electronically, but everything needs to be activated individually online. Then everything needs to be re-ticketed. Often you will find clearance items not re-ticketed or not with the new low price because it was activated but not changed on the packaging. The store cares more about changing the prices on items that go up in price rather than go down in price for obvious reasons. And to explain how bad it can be dealing with these changes, stores normally get around 2000 of them a week. With only one person normally in charge of taking care of this, they usually are not processed for days or weeks.

Their drops are typically on a monthly basis and they usually occur in the middle of the month, anywhere from the 14th to the 19th usually. Of course, I came up with this rough idea of when the updates happen due to the clearance price stickers on the games that're marked properly.

I checked the following today and none of them had dropped:

PS3:

Timeshift: $10

I didn't check Stranglehold because it was in the case and I actually price checked these games at a further away, non-local Kmart.

I liked the game, but it isn't similar to previous games in the series. The previous games were top down shooters, this is more of a 3-d from the cockpit kind of game. Think Wing Commander or X-wing, only with more of an arcade vibe.

Juiced 2 (360)... I bought that one well over a year ago in a BB clearance bin for $6.99 - thought, "how could I go wrong?" I did not enjoy it at all, the gameplay was average at best (and forgivable), however the unbelievable amount of load screens for everything was ridiculous.

Well im one of the few that likes this game for what it is, I originally got it on the PS2 and wow when I got one for the 360 it was almost a different game... So a good way to get a feel for some of these is to play it on a last gen system first lol.

Nope, I went to a Kmart 2 Saturdays ago and Cranium and Geometry Wars for the Wii didn't ring up "correctly" as most people insist they will. That same Kmart also didn't have the "correct" price for Wipeout Pulse when I checked before that.

One phrase will keep you up to date as to what's on clearance and what's NOT.

CHECK THE THREAD DAILY!!

We resigned a long time ago to let the first post lapse, since many people were having their stores 'raided' by people who would clean out EVERYTHING that was on clearance, only to resell it on Fleabay or whatever.

As long as you check the thread at least once a day and READ the posts that mention games, you can get a good idea of what's on clearance.

katamari - $4.99
SP:Ulamite Ghosts N Goblins - $3

Katamari had a sticker over the bar code with a different UPC number written on it. If anyone wants that number I can post it.

The UPC for Beautiful Katamari is 68517604206.

This UPC DIDN'T have a barcode. It is just numbers written on a sticker stuck over the barcode. The employee had to manually enter it, and manually enter the sticker price, so it may be different at other stores.

That UPC could very well just be a "blank" UPC where the register will ask for "price required". That is common with clearance items from time to time at Kmart.

Blah, knew my Kmart had loads of these games not but a few weeks ago - oh well. Was able to pick up a copy of Geometry Wars Galaxies (Wii) and Project Sylpheed (360) for 5 bucks a pop. Hoped for a Katamari...but regardless, these are two that I was hoping to find so that's alright.

I kept a $10 copy of Katamari from BB. It's not as good as the original, but it's still a fun game. At $5 it's a steal although I think the person who got it for $5 was simply in the right place at the right time.

Yeah went into a Kmart to check on Katamari for the 360 that rang up $19.99

Then looking at the DS stuff I see 2 copies of Animal Crossing just to have them price checked and they ring up $34.99

The KMART off of Sunrise Highway in Bohemia, NY (there is a Panera Bread in that plaza), has Def Jam Icon, Time Shift, Stranglehold, And NFL 08 for the PS3 for $10 each. This is confirmed as I priced check and bought each one.

I hope to hell that happens SOON, since I still have my $10 copy of Timeshift I bought last month, but the local Kmarts are getting sold out of the damn thing.

I didn't buy Stranglehold yet, but that should drop to $5 too, same deal as Timeshift.

I really wish some of my local Kmarts would go back to having a bunch of lazy s working for them and stop properly marking stuff.
