[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

stopped by and grabbed Nightmare b4 xmas for $3 ,KOTOR 1 for $2, and Odama for $12(-$5 pricegrabber).

I thought it was hilarious they still have a new copy of Forsaken PC. Thing is huge and sitting on the bottom of a shelf with DVDs.

I want Medieval Resurrection dammit, and my Kmart has 2. They ring up for 39.99. I wonder if they were manually re-added that way - i remember them being $32 at one point.
 
In my K-mart they threw baten kaitos origins in the clearance section but I see no price tags since everything is locked up. Does anyone know if it's actually at a clearance price?

I don't know, but that's one of the games I held off on buying at release and definitely want to pick it up on clearance (as opposed to the first one which I paid $30 for only to find it many many times for $5 or less later :cry:).

I'd say Gamespot's review is pretty apt. It's a good game, it just happens to be possibly the weakest entry in a strong franchise. If you're a WarioWare completist, or just hopeful that the eBay price is gonna skyrocket someday, this might be worth full price. But if you're just buying it to play and enjoy, be warned: you may find yourself thinking "I just spent $35 on this WarioWare game, and all it makes me wanna do is play a different WarioWare game.";)
 
i just wanted to reiterate - don't give up hope if your Kmart hasn't dropped something yet. get a nice list of UPC's going and scan them now and then......

stopped in today and scanned the UPC for Advance Wars DS - and it finally dropped to $9, even though it was still marked $34.99 in the case. (it scanned $34.99 just last month) Yeah!
 
I got Darkstalkers today for the PSP for $3 plus tax at my nearby Kmart....Ridge Racer rang up for $4 and Medievil Resurrection did as well, but they weren't in stock. Does anyone know how often Kmart restocks? That might be a dumb question, but it would be nice to know :)

I'm pretty sure they don't restock clearence games unless they had some in the back which is pretty rare. Sometimes I have found games that were on clearence that weren't there before but honestly I think they were totally out of sight hidden in the far back...
 
Note: This K-Mart is 45 minutes away and this was the first (and more than likely the last) time I've visited the place. I do not have time to go again to pick up items for other CAGers. SORRY!!!

Clearance = going out of the system, therefore, it's gone once sold out.

I decided that it was time for me to visit the closest K-Mart to me besides the one I work in (Cabot), the one on Rodney Parham in Little Rock, AR. Based on what I had seen on this site, I wasn't expecting to find much. Boy, was I surprised with what I walked out with.

Let me just mention this first: the only reason I walked out with this kind of haul was because this store is a shithole. The security guy from there had visited us before and remarked about certain things wrong with our store, then I walk in to his store and almost shouted "WHAT THE fuck!?" in the middle of the store. It was pathetic.

I walked around electronics for a few minutes scoping out anything non-gaming related that I knew was on clearance and didn't find much, then I had to track down a clerk to start digging through the cases. She was trying to run 2 departments at opposite ends of the store at once, so I just told her if she would leave me the keys and a RMU (hand scanner) that I would watch electronics for her. She agreed, and I spent the next half hour digging through each case, all of which could have been declared federal disaster areas. This is what I walked out with:

Gamecube
($5) Donkey Konga: Jungle Beat w/ Bongos (it was wierd, this one rang up correctly, but they also had the regular DK w/ bongos, but all three rang up 49.99)
($5) SRS: Steet Racing Syndicate (was a penny in the RMU, but I didn't argue
($2) Gamecube Controller Extension Cable (never seen one before)
($1) Pokemon XD Skin for Gamecube (was 0 in RMU) (2-3 left at store)

($6) Ape Escape 2 (5.99 technically, thought it was an odd price)

$35 + for 10 games, accessories, and one odd-ball item ain't bad to me, and this was without getting into the GBA/DS stuff (don't own either). Also got Prince of Persia: Two Thrones/Second Sight from the Circuit City clearance stuff while I was out.

Here's some other stuff they had, but I decided not to get:

(???) X-Box Live kit (forgot about it, not sure if it was 3 or 12-month)

As I've said before, it looks like they went nuts in December to try and sell as much of the clearance games as possible, so it's naturaly that they have slowed down. In January they marked down all of the older consoles and some accessories, and in February they did more accessories, although games like Tomb Raider: Legend and a few others got their first clearance.
 
My first bad kmart experience today. I was going to get Psychonauts, True Swing Golf, Metroid NES Classic, LotR 3rd Age GBA, Ice Climbers NES Classic, and Geist. All the games didn't scan correctly, so they had to input the full sticker price manually.

Took about 3 employees to find the right set of keys to open the damn thing, and once I got my games I couldn't check out there, he walked my games up to the front register for me to check out there.

Too bad because this k-mart had a lot of games there. I'll prolly go back another day, since they mentioned something about the system not working correctly all day. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day.
 
Thanks Country for the clairification. By the way, Dynasty Warriors for the PSP rang up as $39.99. It was not in stock, but I found this interesting. A few other games listed as being clearanced in the OP rang up higher as well.
 
K-Mart issues both regular and clearance PLCs (Price List Correct) once a month for each department in the store, and occassionally another one for certain situations. They are normally released between the 20th-23rd of each month. I have the January one with me, but the February one was thrown away before I got to it, so I'll have to find a way to reprint it (if possible).

As far as the price differences go, the problem is based store-to-store, mostly in the manner of which the PLCs are received and then entered into the system. No 2 K-Marts will probably ever have identical lists. For example, this Little Rock store I went to had 19.99 games for anywhere from 21.79 to 23.79 for no reason. My store has the same problem with the Dynasty Warriors game.

I've never gotten a clear answer on why this happens from the managers. It could be a number of factors ranging from the game not being properly entered into the system to UPC codes not matching to a mistake in the PLC itself to who knows what.
 
The only games that were on the February set of PLCs for electronics were some of the $14.99 games from the Christmas displays being marked down to $11.99. It wasn't all of them, only some, which really doesn't make sense to me, but then I gave up trying to figure out some of the things K-Mart's corporate offices do a long time ago. Specifically, I know most of the $14.99 Xbox games went down, and some PS2 games(Viewtiful Joe & Viewtiful Joe 2 are the only two I can recall at the moment). Oddly, none of the GC, GBA, or DS ones dropped.

And yeah, K-Marts can be pretty random, even within the same general area. The one I work at doesn't have anything really great on clearance, mainly because I try and make sure it gets marked down and organized correctly(couldn't do this in December, but there was plenty of time in February to make sure all the tags were correct).
And I end up buying a bunch of it too, though I tend to jump on things too early(i.e. getting Drill Dozer for $18 when I could've had it for $3, Metroid Pinball for $22 when it went down to $3.50, etc.) There are a few others in the area though that do tend to have good stuff still, and I actually just got a copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance the other day for $10.

Baten Kaitos Origins has not dropped yet. I'm waiting for it too. My store got 3 of them in back when it was released(September I think), and all 3 of them are still there. I got the first one for $18 and enjoyed it, so once this one goes to around $20 I know I'll be going for it.

Games of course were terribly miscategorized, as viewtiful joe and urbz were "rpgs"

And yeah, nice find on Animal Crossing - I think I found 1 copy out of at LEAST 20 Kmarts. By contrast, about a week and a half ago I found 3 kmarts that still had multiples of Advance Wars

Check Wal-Mart. I was at a Wal-Mart the other day that had like 7 copies of WW Touched just sitting there. If the value goes back up to $60 on ebay I'm going to go back and buy them out though :p
 
I have tried most of my local Walmarts, Kmarts, Sears, Gamerush, Circuit City(whom I work for, I can check multiple locations quickly), Best Buy. I just can't find WarioWare Touched or Advance Wars DS anywhere. I could kick myself for passing on it during the CC 8.96 sale last summer. My next stop is to try Goodwill. :p

I really need a second copy of Animal Crossing DS so me and my girlfriend can play and that $9 sounds way too good to pass up. Of course, the chance of me finding it at one of the three KMarts in the area is likely slim to none. Sigh.

Is that game only? Because the game by itself has never been on clearance (as opposed to the Donkey Konga 2 game which is $3.50).

Actually, I just added the w/Bongos after I saw your post. It said nothing before that, so the confusion was understandable. Still, that's another one of mysteries of Kmart as to why the DKJB game-only is still $39.99 :roll:.
 
If anyone is interested, I could sell out two copies of WW:touched for cost plus shipping, paypal fees, plus whatever you want to give. I was actually just about to return the extra I purchased for a friend(he happened to find one). Only drawback is that its still full price $34.99. PM me if interested.
 
I have a question:

I just got back from my local K-Mart and they had 007 Everything Or Nothing, and LOTR The Third Age for the Xbox. The prices and UPCS that I have from this website show each game as $2. At the store they ring up as $14.99 as you can tell there is another UPC stickered on the box. When I told them (including the store manager) that they should be $2 they did not believe me. I had them scan the UPC that I had printed and sure enough it rang up as $2. They still would not let me buy it stating that anyone could make a UPC, the store manager said, "well I could make a UPC for 1 penny if I wanted to". I said, "I'm sure you probably could, but how could I?". Anyways I asked him to get me the address so I could file a complaint along with his name and store number. Don't they have to sell these games to me for $2?

What I don't get, though, is why do they need to resticker in order to do this? Why not just change the price in the system?

They don't have to do anything. It's their prerogative to do what they want. There is a way to get it for $2:
take off the sticker

The restickered items are different inventory. That's how they track them.

The thought crossed my mind, but at the Kmarts here they keep even the cheapest games behind glass. The associate takes them out and you might get to look at them for a min while they are next to you. I don't think that would be possible to do.

You can always creat a diversion by finding a nearby magazine rack. I'm not sure if that'll work either, though.

What exactly do we do at said magazine rack? Knock it over? What the hell kind of diversion are you talking about? How do we divert the cameras, too?

Yeah, I had a problem with Musashi. Rang up at like 30 bucks. The UPC # even matched. The salesperson couldn't do anything to help me out.

I've never been able to find those at clearance prices either, with Dynasty Warriors ringing up at $40 at every K-Mart I've checked. All other PSP and PS2 games I've found have been priced correctly.

Yeah. Musashi rang up around $30 and Ape Escape $40 for me too. It's been like that for the past few months. If the clearance prices were in the PLCs, they would have been effected by now, wouldn't they?
 
Musashi and Dynasty Warriors were by far the most common to not be priced low. I think I hit 1 out of 20 stores on both of those. What's funny is that Dynasty Warrior is usually marked $35 and rings up 39.99, and Musashi is usually marked $12 and rings up $24.

anyway, I have the same Musashi problem with one of my local Ks. I finally found a couple for the cheapy price at another Kmart.
