Official LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS Thread !

the gamespot review is one of the worst i've read there, and i usually respect their reviews because they've always seemed to reward innovation and "fun factor" but that was just piss poor.

it was half hearted, poorly structured and lacking any sort of contextual support - he's like "and the sounds were bad when i tried it sometimes, yeah this is a zelda game, but it's not new" without giving any real examples.

How many people are playing this already? Or is everyone waiting to check out the system a bit more first?

I was going to have a vacation day tomorrow, but I'm going to move that to Wednesday. So Wednesday will probably be the start of Zelda weekend.

My friends' mom was lucky enough to pick this up for me at Target (which is only fair since I pre-ordered a Wii for him). I get my Wii's in the mail tomorrow and then I have to go to work at night, so after I give him his Wii and he gives me my Zelda (and money), it's time baby!

Got about 2 hours in (I took forever in the training part...) and I've just started the intro-dungeon.

All I can say is Jeff Gerstman is just a complete idiot for his comment about the control. The Wii controls felt tacked on? That couldn't be more wrong. It controls like a dream!

I wanna play this so bad >< Gotta wait till mid Dec. due to school, then I'll probably get TP for Christmas...since well no money. Buggers >

I noted this over on DVD Talk...

If four more outlets review it with no change in average (which is impossible, but whatever), Zelda:TP will be GameRankings #2 game of all-time (below OoT)

If all four outlets give it a 100%, I believe it will be GameRankings #1 game of all time.

It's damn good.

and as for the controls being "tacked on"? No. Don't believe that bullshit for a second. Are they a little hard to get used to? Yeah, for about 30 minutes or so, but by the time ou hit the Forest Temple you'll be a pro.

MAN SHUT UP FRINGE. You just made my head get that little fuzzily excited feeling inside and I'm trying to write an essay here! I want the game bad enough already

Ok, I'm obviously very, very stupid. Someone help me out. I'm not far in at all, but I'll spolier-tag this question.

I'm needing to catch a fish to get the cat to go home (presumably). I have the rod and am fishing by where the cat is. I litereally fished for 30 minutes, got 2 nibbles, and caught nothing.

The manual suggest getting the line in the water, and shaking the wiimote up and down. Now, doing that too much pulls the line in and out of the water, scaring the little fish away. And doing it gently seems to do... nothing at all.

Do I need to find an empty jar to get the bee larvae as bait?

Not too impressed so far. Seriously. So far ive only wrangled the Goats...but the controls are a bit off. However I plan to put 5-6hours into it today...so I KNOW that will change.

So far Ive only played Zelda and Wii Sports, 4 more games to go (Rampage, Rayman, Monkey Ball and Trauma Center).

Very good game so far, animation is flawless, gameplay is soild, too bad they fucked up Link and made him right-handed in this one.
Sold out. Everywhere within 100 miles of DFW Dallas Texas area.

I dont have one. Saveges. I waited and drove and called.
I bought it last night at the Target in the Redbird area. Have you checked them?

When your line is in the water, wait until the bobber gets pulled under. Quickly pull up on the Wiimote and you'll hook a fish. Then just hold the wiimote in the up position and link will basically pull the fish out himself. The cat will then head back to the shop, where you will get your first bottle.

Daroga-- To add to this:

Press B when you catch a fish to release it to the cat, instead of A. and you don't need bait-- I spent more time then I care to admit looking for bait as well
Why...whats the matter with him being right handed? What does it screw up lol
Most nintendo fans are very nostalgic. One of Link's more unique wrinkles is that he is left handed, something that Miyamoto has mentioned before. (I know you probably know this) Over at gamefaqs it was hilarious seeing the 100+ post threads on people being livid that he is right hand in this game.

Thanks for the tip also.....I was having so much trouble doing that...waste of time didnt know it was that easy..

lol are they still there? Ya I knew he was left handed but I just don't understand how that could screw up the game. If all it is is nostalgia then I don't really care xD

Link's right-handed?! Blasphemy.

Well, maybe this has something to do with the Gamecube release being a mirrored version of the same game. Perhaps he still is left-handed in the GC world.

Played this at a friend's place today and have to agree with the Gamespot review, the controls really do feel tacked on IMO. They just ruin the entire game for me. I'm glad I held off until the GC version comes out.

Theres a lot of Trolls around. After people saying that it wouldn't be hard to find around here. Be very carefull people who you believe.

A lot of people are going to go into Zelda for Wii believing it sucks because they don't have enough money, they don't like the idea of the controller, there fanboys, etc... and can you really trust people like thats opinion.

The guy from Gamespot is the only guy who badmouthed the controlls and he can be seen saying Gears of War is the greatest game of the year maybe more. And seriously badmouthing Wii and Zelda on the Gamespot Videocast On the Spot.

I've played at a friends and its pretty good. Very solid. Believe all the other reviews. Go to Gamerankings.com

Since I guess this is the zelda thread, I need help

What do I do with the cat by the water? and how do I catch fish, apparently I need bee larva or whatever, but where do I find an empty bottle?

OK I need help.. I'm already stuck in this fucking game.. I'm assuming I need to catch a fish to get the cat to get the slingshot.. How the hell do I get a fishing pole to catch a fish ?!?!?!

I'm an idiot, help me.

I have Gears and Zelda. Gears is an enjoyable game don't get me wrong. However, I wouldn't rate it under a 9.5 or higher by any means. Gamespot is gay. The graphics are too "gray" for me and there aren't enough colorful textures. I have played 5 hours of Zelda and love it. It definately deserves more than an 8.8 (not a 10 by any means, but much higher than Gamespot's idiot reviewer)

you get the fishing rod by fetching the cradle from the monkey all the way at the last lake of the area, to get it, go to where you first called a hawk, jump the room then the two "pillars" until you get some of that grass, blow and aim at the monkey with the cradle and give it to the woman for the fishing rod, after that though, were in the same boat

this will help both of you as it was already answered on the last page. I found it confusing as well.

EDIT: beat me to it

Zelda is an action adventure game. From the adventure part there are a lot of puzzles. I've played most of them so I have no problems. For you other people you might need walkthroughs. I never found it that hard at all but I've LOVED puzzle games since I was 5 years old...

Seriously though look at on the spot videocast and he can be seen badmouthing Wii And Zelda before he even played it. I've said it before but its important.

I'm done playing Zelda for the day and I really enjoyed it. I'm currently just got the Forest Temple, and most the game was very fun, except of course the parts in the village with the basket and the cat. It took me a good 20 minutes and reading the manual to know how to get the basket, and 30 minutes along with a trip to Gamefaqs to know what to do with the cat.

I'm probably at the same spot you are. Only trouble I had so far was getting the hang of fishing (darn cat). Else it's been great!

I think Gamespot was a bit hard on the game. I'm happy with it overall. The sound from the Wiimote is neat, even if it sounds kind of tinny, lower quality-ish, but it doesn't detract from the game IMO. I don't have any other real complaints.

I don't think I'll have any trouble...I haven't been stuck in a game for a long time and usually it's just something I'm missing. I really want to play it though, one of the reviews said you get to ride something other than Epona so that sounds interesting too. YOU BETTER NOT POST WHAT ITEM IT IS!

Just wondering, can you use the GC controller with a Wii game, like this?
The graphics are too "gray" for me and there aren't enough colorful textures.
To be fair, I don't think a war ravaged Earth is going to look too colorful.

There really is no point to comparing Gears to Zelda, two completely different games for two completely different audiences.

Okay, I don't know if this has already been answered (I'm not reading 18 pages), but I'm stuck in the forest temple:

I freed all the monkeys, but I can't progress until I get the main key, which is behind the 4 windmill gate. I've tried every combination of activating those windmills, and nothing works. What am I doing wrong?

 this game gets a million times better once you get into the Twilight Realm....omfg the twilight realm, Midna, the wolf and the twilight princess are so cool!!!

I'm confused about something story-wise, since it all happened so fast--spoilers for the whole first Twilight Realm segment--
The whole world outside of Link's town just turned into the Twilight realm as soon as those pigs came and kidnapped Ilia? So Hyrule in the Twilight realm is the real Hyrule and not just some parallel universe?
