Official LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS Thread !
I am stuck on the escort mission. This is so annoying.

I don't have a problem shooting with the bow/arrow, but the targeting (while moving), with the boomerang is proving to be very frustrating.

This is tedious. The enemies are not respawing are they?
I had a little trouble on that too. And yes the moblins on boars will keep coming at you unless:
You attack the birds. They keep dropping little bombs that makes the horse take a detour. If you don't you'll just keep going in circles enlessly fighing.
im totally stuck on this, collecting the 3rd set of twilight insects near zora's domain. Theres a bug underneath a lying down zora that when i target only says ......... I can stand there and Z target attack, dash and do everything and nothing happens. I am just totally unlucky and screwed that somehow a bug got stuck underneath this zora or something>?
I got stuck on this earlier

about the first temple

i'm still at that part where there is the Z shape on the ground, but i still can't figure out how to open the gate.. i fought that one boss (i think) that you have to throw the explosive bug into it's mouth or whatever, but i never got a weapon.. so how do i open this gate with the chest behind it..

You need to get the weapon in the dungeon first. That's Z place is actually the last place you go in the temple.

The absolute best part about this game is that almost all of the cuccos talk about the Lake Hylia Cucco Flight thing. Some are hoping to get a job working there, and the cucco in Kakariko apparently escaped from there.

So great. :)
Well, I beat the 3rd dungeon last night. A question on that for you all that have beaten it already as well:
So, the boss. Was it an homage to Shadow of the Colossus, a blatant ripoff, or just a coincidence? Now to say that thrashing the wiimote into that sucker's back wasn't a lot of fun and more satisfying than SotC was, but it just made me laugh having just played SotC from start to finish a few months ago. ;)

And a little bit after the 3rd dungeon...
Master Sword. Yes.
But so help me, if they have any more puzzles like that statue one, I'm going to punch someone. That sucked a lot, and as I was tired and just wanted to be done and go to bed, I FAQed it for the first help in the game. Ah well, I've always sucked at puzzles like that, and this one was up like 12 levels in mind-bendingness.
yeah the third boss totally reminded me of that one boss from SotC. I dont know if it was coincidence or what, but I liked it a lot.
I should get my cables today, and I'll finally play Zelda in all of its 480p, 16:9 glory. I'm excited AHH!
Enjoy. :) It looks stunning (albeit, a tad jagged).
Enjoy. :) It looks stunning (albeit, a tad jagged).
Just be sure you turn them on in the options. For the first hour I was like WTF - this looks like crap until I figured it out.

I finished at around 4 AM this morning. 49 hours. I knew I had to be at work at 9, but I pushed on through Dungeon 8 and just finished the damn thing. (I am very burnt out right now.)

So I finally get all the slobbering over Midna posts. I'd seen threads/posts with titles like "I want to sex Midna," and attributed it all to a bunch of midget fuckers.

The story on this one was okay. Just okay. They really glossed over Zelda fusing with Midna, or whatever the hell happened mid-way through in Hyrule Castle. I thought Zelda was dead. They didn't really let me know that she was alive until sometime around the Twilight Palace, when Midna starts going on about saving Zelda.

I was happy to see lots of dungeons, and I like that they made the last two fairly straightforward as things were building up to the big finish. If they had given me a 9-level dungeon with shitloads of small keys and backtracking at the end, I would have thrown the wiimote AND the broken strap through the TV.

I was disappointed to find a lack of extended side quests (e.g. Biggoron sword or Majora's mask-type stuff). I think they're a great, easy way to stretch out the player's time with the game. For instance, I really have no desire to just roam about in hopes of finding 60 poes as a way of seeing ALL of Hyrule, but if you put some stupid fetch quest in there, with cute dialog and funny shit, well, let's talk about me roaming around like an idiot.

I'm still slightly disappointed in the play control, but I'm not so disappointed as to make a big deal out of it. It was adequate to good. I am sure for this point in the Wii's life cycle, the control is as good as it gets for a Wii title--that being said, if there is another Zelda released for the Wii, I hope that the combat controls (swordplay mainly) are improved beyond the cosmetic. The difficulty level in this game was directly related to the play control. I didn't trip up on most fights except to shake the wiimote vigorously hoping that meant the sword was unsheathed or to waggle the Z-button hoping my targeting would come back.

One thing I liked was the addition of a few good puzzles. The two guards puzzle before the Master Sword was a good 'un. They should have a couple of those every single game.

Overall, this title really made me appreciate Wind Waker a little more. I think WW's graphics fit the narrative of WW very nicely--I'm still not sure how TP's "look" goes together with its story. I don't mind what people are calling the "realism" of TP (though it looks like 2D animation to me), but I likes the celda. What can I say. And it made the great play control of WW seem even more outstanding. In my opinion, if you were to take WW, replace its dungeons with those of TP, add maybe one or two more fun sidequests from MM/OoT, and sew the whole thing together, you'd have the best Zelda right there.

Anyhow, good Zelda game. Maybe I'll give it a second playthrough sometime. For now, though it was a good time, I'm glad it's done.

For those that have beaten it I have a question. I'm planning to pick this up for GC next month, but...does this game pull a Wind Waker and try to artificially extend the game by making you do tedious work like the tri-force collecting in Wind Waker?

Having just now beaten it, I'll field this one:

No. The Shard Quest in Wind Waker was almost a game-killer. I actually stopped playing for about 6 months because of it, but I'm glad I invested the time later on, as the ending was magnificent.

Twilight Princess has a slightly similar side-adventure, with statue moving. It takes place between the 6th and 7th temple. It is nothing like the Shard Quest, however, in that, with warping, it takes about a half hour, and there are secrets to be found at every one of the 7 or so locations. Hope that helps.

I'd like to start a little side-thread - Game Completion Stats. Here, you list your completion time, number of days it took you, and the number of hearts/items you recieved. I'll start, obviously:

42 hours and 47 minutes in 11 days.

All but 6 Golden Bugs, all but 13 heart pieces, and the Magic Armor (which helps a lot in the final battle, if you're getting desperate). Giant Quiver, 3 bomb bags.

omg pwn

So I keep playing the game in little pieces as I don't have that much time to devote to it but I just got up to the part where:

The kid gets stolen and you have to run into the field on Epona and go after him. So all these guy start attacking me on the pigs or whatever and I start to laugh at myself because I'm out of my seat all up in the moment and waving my arms around. It really made me appreciate the Wii controls at this point. I can't remember the last time I was that engrossed in a game. The showdown on the bridge was the perfect end to the little scenario.

I so need to take a day off next week and get some real play time in.

GRRR!!!! The insect hunting between the second and third dungeon is driving me INSANE!! I feel like i've looked everywhere, but i'm still missing two tears!!

That one's a pain, check out your map though.

The last one won't appear until you've got the 2nd to last one done

That bridge showdown was freaking awesome. I smiled ear to ear when Epona got up on her hind legs and Link raised his sword in the air. I'm not much further than you are (middle of dungeon 2) but this is shaping up to blow OoT out of the water.

I feel your frustration! That's where I left off last night. The last two aren't showing up anywhere on my map, and I searched everywhere I could go. I gotta check back a few places, hopefully will find them tonight. I don't like to use guides if I can help it. ;)

If you want help finding the last two, here's the answer, otherwise, no clicky!

The second to last insect is in castle town, outside of the bar. After you get that one the last one will show up and it'll point it out to you (and it's a nice surprise...)

Well, I finally started Zelda this morning.

I'll be honest: before I started it, I've had the feeling I was going to be disappointed. I haven't loved Zelda since the 2D days, in fact never bothering to play more than a half hour of the 3D games.

Luckily, I have not been let down yet. The actual movement and whatnot took some getting used to, as again, this is really my first 3D Zelda, but once all that got worked out, I'm very much enjoying the first 3 hours, which really flew by. Story is good, visuals are great, gameplay is more than acceptable.
My Wii just ate my Zelda disc... it won't load it or eject it.
Are you sure that you actually put the disk in? heh.
Are you sure that you actually put the disk in? heh.
Haha, yeah, I actually questioned that myself, and I checked. It's definitely in there. I just got off the phone with Nintendo customer service, and it looks like I'll be sending it in for repairs. I didn't want to go through this again like I did with the 360, damnit.

Did you ever play OoT Botticus?
Did you ever play OoT Botticus?
About 10 minutes to make sure my Zelda CE disc was fully functional.

I played about an hour or two of Wind Waker last year, but that's the most I have played Zelda since Link's Awakening.

Gorons freak me out up close.
rock hard nipples
Still in that dungeon, as I stopped when my shield burnt up. I'm loving it so far, especially the
joust
. I would say that was a great turning point for the game where Link seems to live up to the fate that had been thrust upon him.

I'm still trying to figure out whether I like Wind Waker more or less right now. I love the visuals of WW much more, but overall gameplay of TP seems better so far.

Just finished the game, also clocked in around 50 hours (gotta go back to hunt for some missing insects, but I found every heart piece).

For anyone (I'm lookin' at you, Botticus) just starting, let me say that I consider this ot be the best Zelda game. Straight and to the point, no beating around the bush, you simply won't find a Zelda that tops it...and these are HUGE words coming from me (sorry, Lttp, sorry, LA...you guys have been bumped down, but I still love you).

So, so good...this game is the embodiment of everything great about the Zelda franchise.
\I love the visuals of WW much more, but overall gameplay of TP seems better so far.
Me too. If this game was cel shaded like WW it would be the best game of all time. Eh, it might be anyway. I'm at 16:54 and I'm getting close to the third dungeon.
I got all the light balls but I need to find the prince.

That lag is what kept me from playing WW. That, and the graphics. It's a shame to see it's back here, but i'm enjoying TP so far. Just got Link back to his normal form.

By "lag" do you mean the intended momentary pause that happens whenever you hit an enemy? Nintendo talked about this, and how it makes the finishing blow on an enemy more exciting, and I think it's pretty cool.

If you're not talking about that, then I have no idea what you're referring to. I never saw lag during the entire game (TP or WW).

I'm about 11:30 in and I just got to the E3 06 demo area of the second dungeon. :D I'm guessing that I'll be getting the bow here since it's useful and I saw the arrows in the shop at the springs.

PS. Ooccoo freaks me out.

Edit: Looks like its just a slingshot here. :( This area has definitely been flipped since E3 and maybe changed around, too, since the few items that were used in the demo aren't here.

Edit2: Now I got the bow. Nice.

Okay, I'm stuck now in the second dungeon don't know what to do next.
I've got two of the three elders and I'm guessing I need to get to this second part of the dungeon in that circular area (w/the various magnets cranes in it). If I do need to get up to this second set of areas, how do I do it? I see the magnet crane that isn't on, so I'm not seeing what's the next step.

Nevermind, found the room I neglected before. Beat the boss pretty quickly due to seeing it so much at E3. Onto the next area.
PS. Ooccoo freaks me out.
Me too. Couldn't they have made something cute? A chicken with a human/ alien looking head. Can't wait till this guys playable in Smash Bros.

I need help with this sub-boss..
The sub-boss in Death Mountain. I know I get the bow for beating this bastard.. but I'm confused. I hope I don't need my shield, because it got burnt up :(

Think Sumo.

I just spent 3 hours fishing. Caught every fish in the game. However there's only 6 diffrent fish to catch with a bobber fishing, and 4 with a lure. Plus there's one "illegal" fish, that won't go into your records.

Did you manage to win the fishing girl's heart? She was totally flirtin' it up with Link when I first went there, I hope he puts it in her someday.
Did you manage to win the fishing girl's heart? She was totally flirtin' it up with Link when I first went there, I hope he puts it in her someday.
Yeah I reeled in the heart at the lure fishing pond. ;)

The only thing I didn't get yet was the frog lure.
I hate that freakin game in her shop, I'm not sure how many levels there are to it, but I beat 3 of them so far. I have the sinking lure so I might just pass on it. Besides I already got the Hylian Loach.
Just entered the 3rd Temple myself

The escort was another really fun gallop through the field with Epona.

Are you kidding? I'm this close to throwing my Wiimote at the TV. I'm having a horrible time with it.

Edit: Of course I pass it once I'm filled with frustration. Onward!

My love for this game grows with every hour. Just got to the first dungeon after 4 hours, and it reminded me both why I loved Zelda and why I probably never got into the other 3D Zeldas - never played them long enough to get to a dungeon.

Thank God they haven't changed the audio cues (secret rooms and whatnot) in 20 years.

I just finished getting the master sword and going around for some heart pieces and bugs. I'm at a little over 20 hours, so I guess I'm a little slow (well probably an hour or 2 of that is leaving it on while I eat, but yeah).

Wait, what? The first dungeon in Ocarina of Time was literally a half hour in.

Haha, the only part that fustrated me and forced me to look at GameFAQs was

When the carriage thing kept going in circles and the baddies on horseback(or whatever those are) kept respawning.

I just watched my bf beat this game (probably won't ever get to it myself). Took him 46 hours, but he's still missing heart pieces, bugs, etc. I really enjoyed the story and cinematics; I thought the game was very beautiful despite its Gamecube graphics (but whatever, I don't know anything about graphics).

Ending comment:
I bummed Midna broke the mirror, even if appropriate. She's pretty hot... for a weird shadow person. I guess Link's best option is back to Zelda ;)
