Official LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS Thread !

After a week away from the game, I don't even remember what number dungeon I'm on now.
Snowpeak, is that 4th, 5th?
Whatever it is, I enjoying this one the most so far. The puzzles are good without being frustrating, the whole feel is much different than the others,
probably because you're going inside and outside, but additionally due to the beast-couple living there.
Even so, this is the first dungeon I've actually had to use potions, and even then I've died a couple times.

And I'm pretty certain I am the slowest Zelda player on this forum, given that I'm about halfway through this dungeon, and clocked over 28 hours. With really no time spent going out of my way on sidequests.

I have resisted posting here for fear of spoilers..finally finished the game(and getting all the heart pieces) at 41 hours.

I dont know if its just me but at about 80% into the game I felt that the game became more like a chore for me. There was nothing new and exciting like during the first half of the game. Things like horse duels and sumo really gave the game more life, it needed more than puzzle solving and going thru dungeons towards the end.
Ya the 4th dungeons boss was pretty good. Probably my 2nd favorite boss yet. My first I just beat...the 7th, City in the Sky, had a really fun boss. It felt like Shadow of the colossus a bit but was one of my favorite Zelda bosses I've played if not my favorite!! (Well, besides Ganon on Wind waker).
Double Clawshot
was sweet. The temple wasn't too great at all though...they could have done more with the
clawshots
I'd say. Probably one of if not the worst designed temples yet in my opinion. I mean the templs seem to be getting shorter since the 6th
(Temple of Time)
...But whatever still fun, just not AS fun. At least the boss makes up for the not as good temple. I saved right when I exited...and I'm guessing there will be an interesting cutscene when I go back to the
Mirror Portal
xD
things like all the spoiler tags i just placed, items, places, names, some people want to encounter these places themselves, i thought it was so cool when i got the
double clawshot
but if i had known about it earlier it wouldn't have been quite as cool, well at least to me, i'm strict about no FAQs for epic games like Zelda, Metroid, FF, Mario Platformers etc.

No sidequesting? Then we might actually be close... I'm at about 46 hours now, having just beaten the fourth dungeon (Arbiter's Grounds in the Gerudo Desert). If some crank head chick wants me to collect bugs, who am I to say no? :)

I've clocked about 32 hours, and I just arrived at the Gerudo Desert.

I just beat the 8th Dungeon and am about to fight you know who. Right outside the bosses door... but I mean what was with this dungeon? Like 3 floors, only 3 linear pathways... so short and easy it was crazy. I think they must have just gotten tired working with the game by the time they got here lol

You ARE right Spades.
Ever since the 5th dungeon, they have become a lot smaller.
I think the best boss fight (so far, I haven't gotten to Zant or Ganon) is definitely the fourth dungeon.

Ya after the 5th, agreed! I havent fought those two either, but I'm about to fight the first one. Fourth Dungeon boss was pretty sweet though... you'll probably really like the 7th one too. Those two are definitely the best.

I made quite a bit of progress today... 4 hours in front of my TV let me finish the 5th dungeon and get through to the boss of the 6th, at which point dinner interrupted me. Thought the 6th was a pretty solid dungeon, though the boss key
seemed like it was hidden pretty randomly... was there some reason I should have known to look for a grapple spot in the middle of the room with the scales? I also thought the boss key showed up on the map noticeably different than a normal chest, but either I'm wrong or they stopped doing that.

I wouldn't worry about it. The same thing happened to me. I got to the boss door and I didn't and I was like "Ohhhh crap." It took me awhile the find that damned key. Oh, and no it doesn't show up as a special chest. It just shows up as a regular yellow one with the compass.

Twilight Princess is one of the first games in a long time, that I can actually sit and play for 6 - 8 hours in one sitting.
SOoooooooo GAMECUBE or WII version?
I'd go with the Wii version. I was skeptical of the controls going in, but it's made me a believer. Plus the widescreen presentation is awesome.

visiting the statues - that's required to move the game forward, correct?
Yes correct its required to move the game forward but after completing the task there is a bug you must know
After getting all the Sky pages, you would be able to move the statue under Kakariko village, behind it is a Sky Cannon..do not save and quit until you teleport the cannon out or you would have to restart the game

Just beat
Zant
... not bad, thought he would be better since everyone said he was so fun. Just a bit too easy for me if hes the 2nd last boss. Still like the 7th dungeons boss the most. Game is really shortened in the later half. I think I was at like 35 after Lakebed and now I'm at like 50, so ya probably beat it at around 52-53. Around 45 hours of me actually playing.

I played 5 hours tonight and all I did was find 5 heart containers, 1 poe, 4 bugs, learned my 3rd sword technique, and went through the third dungeon. GREAT story, I am loving it.
I need help.

After defeating the skull kid, I was supposed to get poe soul #2 around where I beat him. However, I did not know that, and I left teleported away before getting it. Now, I need to get back to that room, but the giant wooden door is guarding me from getting there. Before, the skull kid would open the door for me, but I've defeated him. What should I do? I need the poe soul.
Go look for poe souls elsewhere. You will be able to pick this one up, but it won't be until a little bit later.

I'm only 28 hours total gameplay in so far, but I already have all sword techniques, have found about half of those bugs (man that is not a quest to scoff at) and just gotten to the (beautiful) 7th dungeon before having to pass out.

That said, though, I've played all the way up to the first dungeon on Strell's Wii back in the fall... So I was able to zip through all that stuff (about 3 hours at least bypassed completely).

I just learned of these things called "Lantern Caverns," and I haven't played through a single one yet.

I wandered a bit last night after football, didnt have time to get into the Dungeon. Found the last 2 heart containers that i can possibly get at this point in the game without going further, and the alst 2 bugs i needed.

About to start the
Temple of Time
14 4/5 Heart Containers
All Golden Bugs
2x Bomb Bag Upgrade (From 25pts on Rapids)
4 Bottles
1st Quiver Upgrade (single clawshot)
32 Poes (found along the way)
Donated All Coins to Malo Mart
not enough money for magic armor now :whistle2:/
And im almost positive ive found all the Hidden Caves and Lantern Caverns.

Total Time: 38 hours.

Apparently, you can go back and still collect things/finish sidequests after beating the main quest. Is that true?

I hope so, so I can go for 100%. I have only collected like 10 Poe souls.

Nope.
All it does after you beat Ganon is go to credits, then a little scene with Midna, then back to credits and eventually stops at a The end sign where you can't do anything besides go to the wii menu.

behind the gate in the Temple of Time
) cause I wasn't thinking.

Damnit, I wanted to make sure. People on the IGN forums claim that "It's okay, you can just go back and collect everything you missed after beating the main quest."

Yeah, I'm probably just going to go for 20 then. Since it seems pointless to go for 60 Poe souls. I guess I might just save right before finishing the game, so I can still fish and what not.

This maybe a double post but this thread is hella long, but my bro finally picked up Zelda (Wii ver) for us earlier today, was wondering what strategy guide everyones using? (im a completest and must get every heart container etc) Seems like theres more than one out there.. or should i even bother n stick with gamefaqs or something..

No kidding about the golden bugs... It sucks when you're searching all over and find one only to see the screen that says it's one you've already collected. Fortunately, the golden bugs are paired in generally the same area.

Collectting Poe souls is much more fierce, though... I spent a couple hours tonight going after a few more (Gerudo Desert is worth exploring!!) and hunting down a few pieces of heart (thank you, fortune teller!).

The first Lantern Cavern was fun enough, but the second is *awesome*.

lol I can't imaginge searching for all those gold bugs... some of them were hidden in some weird places and couldn't even be seen at times unless you waited a bit. I just used a guide for about half or 2/3rds of em. And poes I just got 20 as soon as I could after you meet that guy, just so I could get that item. Probably won't go for 60 since there really is no point. All I want to do yet (Since I've got all the heart pieces...they were fairly easy to find in this game. Wind Waker was harder for this, or more time consuming at least in my opinion) is complete the Cave of Ordeals , MAYBE beat the rollgoal game 8-8, MAYBE catch all the fish.

Search at night for bugs, they can be seen MUCH further away and are way more visible at night. made my hunt alot easier.

I also cant beleive that there is no incentive for all 60 poes other than 100% completion.

What and where are the Lantern Caverns? (We may have done one, but didn't know it. We're at the Sky Temple.)
What and where are the Lantern Caverns? (We may have done one, but didn't know it. We're at the Sky Temple.)
I'm pretty sure I've never done one, since I don't know what they are, so good question.

I'm pretty sure that one of the caverns that they're refering to is down by Lake Hylia. It took me a few times to get through it, just because I only had the lantern and didn't have any extra oil.

I love that I'm slowly getting more time to play this game.

I just finished the 4th dungeon and headed to the next. That dungeon has to be my favorite one so far. The boss battle was so fun.

Easily one of my favorite boss battles ever.

Yes, there is a piece of heart in that cave.

You know, in most of those caves there are typically yellow ChuChus that you can scoop up in a bottle to refill your lantern.

I love when I get through an entire game and find out something like that afterward. I just never bothered messing around with the various Chus to find out what each of them do.

I just started this last night, but I'm having a little problem with the controls. Are there any other lefties out there playing this?

Normally, I'm used to moving characters with the thumbsticks with my left hand, as all controllers are set up that way, but for the Wii, my righthand isnt accurate enough to hold the wiimote that way.

So right now, I'm holding the wiimote in my left hand and moving the stick with my right. I've walked into a few walls that way so far, and it makes me start to think I should have gotten the GC version instead. Are there any others out there who had the same problem? After a few hours in, does the moving around get a little easier?

I never had a problem as a lefty... it's really a no-brainer as my pointing abilities with my right hand are much less precise than my left. I don't recall any adjustment period, but Zelda was also the last game I played out of the 4 I have.

Now that I think about it, Red Steel was probably the first game I played, same setup (point with left hand, move with right), and that was definitely an adjustment. After that, Zelda is cake.

Yeah, the only other game I have is Trauma Center, and there is very limited nunchuck use in it, so this is the first time I've really had to use both hands. Like I said, I just started last night, so hopefully after a few hours it will become second nature.

That calculators kind of lame actually. Initially I was 77% done as posted above with 35 poes, but when I entered the same information with 60 poes I went to 85%...so really I guess I'm more like 85% as I guessed! :D

Just beat the game (yeah, took me a while), and I have to say, it was absolutely incredible.

So epic, so cinematic, so dramatic, so fun. Oh my Zelda. How I love you. And Midna too. I'll even go ahead and say I love Link.

Took me about 55 hours.

Time to start all over again!

Ya I can see myself playing this game again almost instantly after I beat it... somehow... not many games are like that. School started though so in the past week I've only gotten in like 2-3 hours

I just beat the game at about 55 hours. Maybe an hour of that was sitting in the pause menu. As for the ending,
I want to put a baby in the true form of Midna. Just don't tell my wife I said that. :whistle2:# Ah hell, I might as well put a baby in her in imp form, too. It must be the snaggle tooth. RAWR.

I have problems.
