Im not very far in but before I go any further I am hoping for an answer to this. I just beat the forest temple and am going out into Hyrule Field. Am I supposed to have my horse for this? If so, where the hell is it?
I just beat the game at about 55 hours. Maybe an hour of that was sitting in the pause menu. As for the ending,
I want to put a baby in the true form of Midna. Just don't tell my wife I said that. # Ah hell, I might as well put a baby in her in imp form, too. It must be the snaggle tooth. RAWR.

Picked this back up today after a... several week break. Too many 360 distractions. Anyway, just beat the 5th dungeon, and it was pretty weird. I'm liking some of the newer items. Hopefully, they keep getting better.
Just beat the game! I clocked between 52-53 hours playtime. Only things I didnt do yet was beat or attempt the cave of ordeals and collect all the poes. Oh...and beat rollgoal 8-8(only beat it 2-something). Probably left the console on for 5 hours for sure though.
Ending was SWEET! Much better than I thought it'd be, and the boss battles were so awesome. Man best ending, in terms of battles, EVER! Story, though, wasn't so awesome in this game in my opinion. Honestly, when I began the game, I thought this whole "Twilight" aspect was just going to be the kind of lead of the game for maybe 1/3rd of it, then we'd see
Ganondorf and Zelda
taking up the other 2/3rds of the game and creating an awesome twist and epic story. Sadly it was basically all about the Twilight realm, saving the world, then only for like 1-2 hours about
Ganondorf and getting rid of him.
But I nominate it my game of the year for sure...gameplay was awesome, and everything about it was my favorite in a Zelda game. EXCEPT for the story...nothing felt really epic... and I wanted
MORE GANONDORF AND ZELDA DANGIT!!!!!! Oh well...uh and Midna was more scary looking lol. Best lookin girl in the game is Zelda. I'm guessing Midna shattered the mirror in the end to prevent the bad guys from coming to the light world again? Like Ganondorf? Dunno... but it was weird when she said like "I...See you later."
Anyway I really feel like starting the game all over...so fun. Oh and also, I didn't like the wolf part of the game at all. Found it boring, and out of place. Didn't like the twilight world either.
Ah and the final 3 bosses, Puppet Zelda, Pig Ganon, and Ganondorf were the best group of bosses in the game by far... definitely take my place as number one boss in the game, followed by the City in the sky boss, followed by probably Arbiters Grounds... I absolutely HATED Zant as a character.
Overall the only bad points I felt made the game worse when it could have been EVEN better were:
- The twilight world - didn't find it fun...I like "lighter" atmospheres with more epic aspects...not darkness and creepyness.
- Wolf transformation... too limited for me and mainly just annoying
- Not the best story...I found Wind Wakers more exciting. I admit that I like the "capture a character that they build upto be very important and likeable, then save them and the world" type of stories.
- Slacking off in the later temples...still awesome, I mean Hyrule Castle was pretty sweet with the minibosses...just FAR too short.
And thats it...also after playing Hyrule Temple I got really pumped for it when you'd see the
Darkknights
suddenly come at you. They needed more large, scary, epic kinda type minibosses in the other maps.
Well and thats about it...might think of more later. Just wondering...I have 19 and 4/5 heart pieces but I never got one in the end. Where's the 20th!!!??? (Unless it's in that one chest I missed in Hyrule Castle...dont tell me how to get it if it is.)
well i have been messing around with the game since I beat it a lil. I think the one thing that made me a little disappointed is that I thought this Zelda was going to be more animal based. From the previews and the beginning of the game it seemed like other animals were going to play a huge part of the game.
Also about the ending
i really didnt feel there was any closure with Link and any of the important other characters in his life, i mean there really seemed like there should have been some sort of conversation with Zelda, Midna, or Ilyia at the end of the game instead of Link just riding home solo.
Ya I know what you mean. And what was really weird to me is that I felt disconnected and not part of anything in the game as the character.
I mean, you start out in your home village, but once you leave you basically never return to it again. I mean I liked some of the people in my village and it would have been cool to know their personality and build them up slowly, then you maybe save them or something. The village people just had no story to them... so disappointing. If the story had been better...this would have been the best game ever! In Wind Waker and the bit I played of OOT(story was cool in OOT, but gameplay/graphic sucked compared to todays Zeldas so I didnt make it through), you always felt more "connected" to Ganon and Zelda because they were constantly in the same cutscenes together and conversing with one another. I don't even think Ganon TALKS to Link at ALL! Only Midna... I mean Midna is like the center of the entire game!...its lacking somewhere there.
If I had to rate the game though I'd give it a 9.5/10. It's hard NOT to give it a 10...especially when you see some of the other games getting higher ratings than TP. Its just that some flaws are easy to see in the game...but the other factors of the game cover those flaws... but they're still there... so ya... gamespot was definitely wrong in their review though, and I think most agree. 8.8 is far too low for a game like this, especially considering some of the other games they've given 8.8's.
Ya I was actually thinking of that when I typed it lol. Didn't mention it though... Hmm though I still think Wind Waker beats it in the end. I just remember there being so much to do. In TP there only seems to be a main story and little sidequests, and if there are sidequests, they aren't half as good as WW's. Plus when I Saw CastleTown in the NP magazine I was stunned by the graphics and how big it was! But when I entered it...man what a disappointment. Couldn't do anything with the fruit, couldnt talk to anyone or get cool sidequests, absolutely NOTHING to spend rupees on in the game (WW had charts and auctions and those cool cannons games), could only enter like 5 doors...ya WW's windfall town I found really fun... and I liked their little games like the mail one, gliding one, cannon ones, etc. Hmm hard to decide which I like more, but I still think WW takes it.
it actualy isent too bad, just search at night, and they usaly come in pairs of twos. only needed help on one, and that was becuse i was afraid of being locked out of the area, so i just made sure.
Just beat the cave of ordeals...but even that was easy! I beat it on my first try and all I needed was 2 potions and 300 rupees which I used for magic armor(I wouldnt have needed the rupees though... just tried it.) Last floor I was expecting a harder challenge... I would have liked 10 Darkknights instead. That would have been sweet. 3 wasn't even hard... hardest floor was one of those ice ones. Hate those javelin throwers. Anyway I think I might try beating it without using anything at all. You could easily beat it with JUST Magic armor, so I might try that. Then I'll go for nothing used... If I use my arrows for those javelin guys I can maybe do it. I had like 60 arrows and 90 bombs left at the end...so its definitely possible.
I'm wondering...did I miss anything in terms of hearts? I mean... I have 19 and 4/5ths. Once I get the full 20 hearts, should I have 20 and 0/5ths or 20 and 4/5ths? I've gotten 45 heart pieces, so that comes out to 9 heart containers. Then I got...8? From bosses... er... no wait somethines wrong. If theres 45 pieces total then I guess that means I missed a piece since I got 4/5ths... man I was sure I checked them all off...hmmm

You start with 3 hearts and get 8 from bosses. That makes 11 and leaves 9 full hearts. 9 x 5 = 45. Just go to that lady and pay her for a hint. =]

Yeah, I enjoyed Wind Waker a lot more.
I really enjoyed Wind Waker, but I actually like Twilight Princess more. I personally think the Twilight parts were awesome, and I really liked the wolf parts... I was actually a little disappointed by how short those parts ended up being.
Ya... come to think of it when I beat WW I was pretty young, and it must have been a good 2-3 years since I actually beat the game. I never found everything either (Maybe my most was like 12-13 hearts) and I dont even think I beat the "Cave of ordeals" or whatever its called for the wind waker version. Actually...maybe I did... uhh I forget. But suddenly I have the urge to get everything in that game and beat it again.
as far as i can remember you can't, you'll only be able to save at the shop, yea i know its tedious getting back to the boss room but there are fairies there to heal you back up before you take him on
as far as i can remember you can't, you'll only be able to save at the shop, yea i know its tedious getting back to the boss room but there are fairies there to heal you back up before you take him on
Eh, it's more annoying than that for me because I don't usually have hours to play at a time, so I tend to have to exit dungeons a half dozen times. Being able to get back to my stopping point after quitting is about the only way I've been able to get this far in 35 hours. I guess finishing this dungeon today will be more difficult than I thought.
Ya that bites that they always warp you out...but they save everything you've gotten from that point right? Then it shouldnt be too bad...
Was anyone else dissapointed with Snowpeak? I usually love snow worlds and maybe I was just dissapointed because I was expecting an extremely fun dungeon and part of the game. Instead they threw me inside some "mansion" and I couldnt even walk in the snow decently!

Yeah, I was.
That was probably my least favorite dungeon.
Ya I'd probably agree I guess. Although I didn't find any of them really awful. Actually Palace of Twilight is probably my worst. Too short, too linear, too easy, and quite boring. I heard all this talk of "wallmasters" and I thought they'd actually DO something. They go far too slow to have an effect on anything...
Snowpeak was actually one of my favorite dungeons, just due to the overall feel.
All my whining was for nothing... got in 3 and a half hours of playtime, finished the 7th at just under 40 hours. Gonna play a bit more tonight hopefully, but I figure I should be done by next weekend.
What I've been doing is looking up FAQ's for heart pieces, then taking a quick glance at it to see how many pieces are in a dungeon I'm about to enter, without seeing where they are, that way, if I have say, 2 towards the end, I know I need to go start checking all the treasure chests I may have missed.
I was basically just seeing where they are as would be similar to the fortune person... somehow I missed one O_O.. .haven't had time to check it yet, been playing WW XD
Well basically I think I registered maybe 3-4 hours from where you're at...it'll get really short now xD. The last two aren't really like dungeons...
That sounds about right. Put in another 2 and a half hours last night before bed to get through the second-to-last dungeon, which was rather intense. Couldn't tear myself away before starting up the final dungeon, so probably a third of the way through that one.

There are just 2 heart pieces in each dungeon. The fortune teller will give you a visual clue to any pieces you don't have. Don't bother with FAQs.
Couple of glitches in the game annoyed me. (no, not that dungeon trap one, or whatever)
I lost my fairies both times because of them.
One time, the "boss" just disappeared, I was was running around killing enemies for 15 minutes before I realized.... uhhh, this isn't right.
The second, I guess I survived something you shouldn't and the only way to fix it was to kill myself. Not before I went running around to towns for help. UGH.
I started playing this game this weekend. I'm about 8 hours in and 4 hours of that have seemed like backtracking. It's a fun game, but I do not like the wolf portions at all. They seem to just be lengthening the game and making me explore the same areas twice. I'd rather do the initial exploring with Link and not in this muddled wolf world. I know that it all links with the story, but at this point it all seems forced.
I'm currently in the Goron mine, so I've got plenty of game to go, but so far this is not nearly the experience for me that Ocarina of Time was.
Right now, I just feel like they could have trimmed a lot of fat from this game and made it easier to get to all the fun parts without all the boredom.
shipwreck, I think it will feel more natural and less like backtracking when you gain the ability to transform into the wolf whenever you choose. (I don't remember exactly when that occurs, but I think you are close.) Then you aren't forced into the twilight/regular dichotomy as much.

Good to know. I was afraid the entire game was going to proceed in that pattern.
Finally finished the game at 38 hours. Fantastic game. Dungeons 8 and 9 have some fun boss fights. I really wish I had more time to spend on this game to fully explore everything, since I basically shot straight through the game. I do have some nitpicks about the game, but I'll post about them later.
Oh, and Midna one of the most interesting game characters I have seen.
EDIT: This game flew by. I honestly can't remember the last time I played a console game for this long.

she returns to the twilight realm, and destroys the mirror at the end
Beat it after around 43 hours or so. Awesome game, not a bad ending, not an awesome ending. But that's the RPG buff in me talking.
I can only imagine how long this would have taken were I to finish with more than 12 hearts, 22 poes, and a half dozen bugs.
Awesome! In the days leading up to the Wii launch, I felt like you and I were very much in the same Zelda boat, having not playing much of what came before Twilight Princess. I'm glad to see we both beat TP in a reasonable amount of time and enjoyed it.
You have any desire to go back and collect everything? I did shortly after I beat it, but the more time passes the more I think I'd just go through the game again before hunting everything down.
True, that was convaluded. Need any help...?
wait, Rouf, you got a Wii?! Fantastic! D
I've got the LE guide that Best Buy had for $10... I got so fed up with this dungeon I just went page by page through the guide until I finished it. I just got my entire $10 worth.
Haha yea, got a Wii a few days ago, I kept meaning to PM you lol. Add me to your friends list!

Much like I will get around to replaying Fire Emblem: PoR (the other console game I've played more than 40 hours in the last year) and make sure I find every optional character.

Finally got a chance to play today after an absolutely retardedly hellacious week at work... beat Snowpeak. All the way through, it felt like it was the least "Zelda" of all the dungeons so far. There were some clever things in it, but it felt more like Tales of Symphonia than LoZ especially with
the push-blocks-on-ice puzzle
. Also not a huge fan of the weapon you get from this dungeon.
I can appreciate Aonuma pushing for changes to the formula, but at the end of the day, some of the stuff is coming across as really gimmicky and my fun meter is dipping a little bit.

See, like botticus, I really, really liked the mansion. It was just different enough to add a little variety and actually meld a bit with the story. But I can see the snow level being rather... wait for it... polarizing for people.
Man I really liked Lake Temple, how can you hate it!!?? It was pretty long and fun...design was cool. Probs one of my more favorite ones. And ya scobie I felt kinda similar when I got to Snowpeak as well... and for me it just went a little more downhill from there or just stayed at the same level (until the Hyrule castle...had a fun last spark there) Can't really pick a hardest dungeon...I didnt really get stuck... I remember vividly the exact point I got stuck in Arbiters Ground though for some reason. Thats probably the one that I had to spend the most time figuring out...
