Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:

I beat Burst Limit in 6+ hrs, Lol.
I think it took me less than that. Got like 26/50 AP but I dont really feel like beating the game in higher difficulty (they should allow you to chose the higher difficullty in the beginning)

Going to try to finish Tales of Innocence, but I might get started on Ninja Gaiden 2.

Just started Portal. Everyone welcome me to October of last year!

Although I guess the PC just had it released as standalone retail in April, I thought it was sooner. At any rate, I really like it.

It's an excellent game that sadly ends way too quickly...
Enjoy it while it's fresh! :D

Just moved back into San Francisco.

Currently, I'm playing Lego Indiana Jones on PSP, some WOW and DotA on the side.

Does anyone know what happened to the clearance section for the electronics in the Serramonte Target (the bigger Target)? I was there yesterday, and it was gone.

Target Greatland.

I'm pretty sure there was one. I picked up a PSP slim analog cable when it went on clearance. It's located generally at one of the end caps facing the same side as the TVs are displayed. The clearance was there until a month or two ago.

I was there about 3 months ago, and I didn't see anything at all. If I remember correct, It was facing TV's. On the right, was electronics, and on the left, was an exit, right? Anyways, That's where I always found the cheap stuff.

Dude. Are any of you in San Mateo? I was driving around there today and the Shell station near El Camino/92 was $5.12. For REGULAR. And this is just a few miles from that Arco on Delaware which always has the lowest prices.

Gas around here is still around $4.50 so that really surprised me. I'm thinking once my current car explodes (should be any day now) I'll get a Prius, even though I hate Prius drivers. :bomb:

Yea I notice crazy prices at that Shell all the time. I think it's in a time bubble 2 months in the future. Now if only we could destroy it...

They probably sold most of the electronic clearance stuff and decide to consolidate the games back to where they belong. I'll just check again the next time I go.

I'm scared now...
Time to start dusting off that bike I have.

Bleh about that gas price.

I start filling up my tank around the halfway mark now just to get that feeling of only putting in $25 and getting a full tank.
Anyone in SF know any good palces to buy video games like a pawn shop or a local game shop?
I'll keep my eye's out. I'm going tomorrow to the Disney Store before it closes :/

not SF but in the bay area, play n trade. It also looks like they are opening a new store in dublin. My cousin got a wavebird there

The Disney store in union square or the one at Serramonte?
Also, dam I'm too young to go out all the way too Alameda for video games.

Both. The one in Stone's-Town Gallaria and Post street.

Thanks.

Disney bought back the stores. So, since they're in a hole, big time, they think it's better to close low profit stores and let go a bunch of people.
There's also a Play N Trade in Alameda, though I've never been there... I think it's new.
Its actually almost been there for a year now. The owner is cool, I was straight up with him one time and told him I wanted to see what he would give me in trade in value before I head out to Gamestop and he said he would match them and their current offers. Don't know if he always does that since I rarely go there.

Overall their selection sucks though. He doesn't carry much stock of anything but he does make an effort to get you things in a weeks time if you ask. No real gems but theres a handful of "classic plastic" games. For a better selection of that theres Game Exchange in Alameda that has tons of NES, Genesis, SNES, etc games for super cheap. IIRC they have a $1-4 section with tons of stuff. I once went there and got a couple copies of fuck for $1 each.

any of you guys do bbv/gr flips/trades?

ok, so, i'm a complete BBV/GR noob, so i wanted to double check this with you guys first. i read the OP, and it's very informative. here's what i plan to do:

go to each bbv and open a trade acct. trade in 1-2 copies, depending on how likely i am to go back. put the credit on a 'value' card. rinse and repeat until out of games.

the only stipulations are that i need a trade acct at each store, and use caution when trading in multiple copies.

do all bbv accept trade ins? the OP isn't quite clear on that. i don't have gamerush by me.

for the bay area CAGs (south bay particularly), are there particular ones that i should go to?

i dont think any bb around here do video game trade in

i really should check out those Alameda stores. I can get to Alameda in 2 minutes from my place. Maybe i'll go on an expedition next weekend.

As for cheap games, Rasputin Music used to be fantastic but those days are over, I think. They don't seem to take many trades anymore and no longer sell new games. It's quite a tragedy. I used to make a mint on their used games and get lots of cheap new stuff, which was typically $5 off retail across the board. Dunno, though. You might get lucky and find something at one of the stores I don't visit. I've only ever been to the SF and Berkeley shops.

in case anybody wants to know, the grant/el camino bbv in sunnyvale or mtn view (?) doesn't do trades for games, and the mary/el camino bbv in sunnyvale doesn't do value cards (meaning your credit is stuck on that store), or at least that's what the people told me.

wolfe/kiely/rivermark bbv allow trade ins on a value card. i'll scout out a few others tomorrow.

I used to buy games from Rasputin, and sometimes I would find some really hard to find games there too... It's really is too bad it had to come to that.

The one I go to is the San Lorenzo location, BTW.

if anybody's thinking about trading at blockbuster, definitely check out the steven's creek/lawrence bbv and look for andrew or chad. i had two transactions for 4x and 5x FF4:RoSS Wii within a few hours of each other and they went smooth as ever. for the first, chad didn't know how to set up a new trade account or do a trade, but andrew walked him through it and no questions were asked. for the second, andrew asked if i was there earlier, and i said yeah and i just bought some more games. once he found the other 4 copies, he ran me through quick, and didn't even bother to check the discs on the 5 i just brought in.

+1000000000000 for andrew and chad at steven's creek/lawrence bbv.
Dam thats an amazing flip
homeboy got money =P
word. and it's all thanks to cag that i have this ridiculous, but lucrative addiction. prior to june, i had never traded into gs or bbv, and now i've got $250 and $360 in credit, respectively for about $100 startup. and that's relatively weak compared to a lot of others, but i'm just lazy.

yeah, general practice would've been to do 1-2, but i was running out of luck (store closest to my work didn't trade, next store was out of power, the other 4 out of 6 stores i visited the night before) and still had 9 copies to trade in tonight before they potentially changed TIVs. so, i decided to take a chance, and had my tru receipts in my pocket as backup. it paid off nicely.

They're back... Capcom focus tests! There's one in the afternoon of July 10th.

It says they want people who haven't been to a prior test. That, plus the fact they mentioned "action, puzzle, and strategy games" makes me wonder if they're still testing :censored:.
