Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Yeah I might give them a call. Its only a few minutes from the house. Im thinking my store is one of them that doesnt carry games.

Do Kmart's receipts say Clearance in the sku like Sears do? If not, i'm sure you shouldn't have a problem.

As usual, it depends. I tried a PM at Sears with a receipt one time and it didn't work. Unless it's on an ad or website, I don't even try anymore.
 
I picked up a copy of Heavenly Sword but it was $18.97... Still a good deal to me.

BTW those Eye of Judgement Bundles usually are $20 at Walmart as well.

What department does he work in? Sometimes employees in one department have no idea what some of the discounts are in another department. For example, a girl at Target (an employee) was blown away by the prices on some of the clearance games there. So even being an employee she was caught by surprise by them.
 
Sorry this is a little off topic, but I saw GH III Legends and Aerosmith bundles both for $24.97. Which is the better buy? I was thinking the Aerosmith bundle is newer, but are the songs different so I would have to buy legends game-only if I wanted those songs?

Yes the track list for both games are different. I would suggest looking at the track lists on Wikipedia and base your decision off of that. If you're not a die-hard Aerosmith fan I would personally go for Legends of Rock.

Probably more likely 2012 or 2013 the latest. They say the PS3 is designed to be around for 10+ years and it is true they will be but it doesn't mean they won't have a PS4 in 10 years it just means that they will still support it. Look at the PS2 which is still around and kicking and they count it as still alive.

What makes me laugh though, is that both MS and Sony went with a sizable upgrade in power(and PRICE) over last gen and look at who was/is outselling them: NINTENDO!!

Every prior gaming gen has seen a somewhat nominal upgrade from the prior one, until now. I'm glad that somebody had the guts to actually follow the same pattern as usual.

Mind you, I ONLY currently own a PS3, but I will have at least one of the other two consoles this gen at some point before it's end.

I just still get a kick out of the fact that both Sony and MS are/were getting their asses kicked in sales by Nintendo, who are only following what has happened since the beginning of the gaming industry.

if you think the PS1 to PS2 was a nominal upgrade, or the N64 to the GC for that matter, you don't know much about technology.

now, regarding price, remember that when the Sega Saturn launched, it was priced at $399. the PS1 was $299. compare this to the previous generation, with the Sega Genesis and SNES releasing at $199 each.

so, considering you could bring home either a 360 or PS3 for $399 at launch (ignoring the lesser 360 and premium PS3), price-wise, that is right in line with the increases from previous generations (around $100).

Nintendo, on the other hand, launched their system at the same price as their previous generation, but, unlike their competitors, they added very little "power" in the process. it's fairly common knowledge that Nintendo's success this go-round can be attributed to the fact that they're not "following what has happened since the beginning of the gaming industry", but rather are taking some bold risks in a number of areas in order to bring in new dollars.

Nintendo is basically the only company that, at least in terms of technology, interaction and marketing, went off and "did their own thing". if anyone has followed "the same pattern as usual", it's Sony and Microsoft.

personally, i enjoy all three platforms (with a slight extra nod to the 360), but i definitely think Nintendo is head and shoulders above the other two when it comes to allowing publishers to release near-unlimited piles of utter trash. guess we'll see next generation if it ultimately pays off for them.
 
Back in the Genesis and SNES gen I didn't actually pay much attention to the price of each console at launch, since I was given a Genesis as a Christmas or birthday present.

But since then I've seen the PS2/Xbox start out at $300 and then this gen the PS3 and 360 started out even higher.

I don't think there was a $400 PS3 at launch though. There was the $600 60gb model and there was the $500 20gb model.

Thing is, in order to reduce their cost to allow the 'price drop' to $399 for the 40 gb models they had to eliminate some key functions, a move which I didn't see MS do to their 360.

oops, you're right about the PS3 launch price. my point was that MS and Sony's strategies this generation are pretty much right in line with those of the past, and that Nintendo, while treading somewhat familiar waters tech-wise, was really the one to try something new this generation.

Now that I look at it, it does appear that they are keeping in line with what was done in prior gens. Of course, since I didn't really keep track of the prices until the PS1 era or so, I didn't realize that the prices had been gradually going up since then.

I did remember the 'other systems' that made an appearance during the Genesis/SNES gen though and those were far and above the prices for either of the two 'major' systems back then.

like the 3DO? i picked one of those up for $15 a few years back, and i believe i overpaid. the Neo Geo also had quite the premium price, but i believe considering the technology and parts required in that machine (and cartridges), the price was justified. i wonder what the price of the 'Geo would be at todays prices, adjusted for inflation. probably ends up making the PS3 look like a bargain, if not a giveaway.

just so you know monster hunter freedom 2 is YMMV.. went to 3 sears and they were all $39.99!!! the most expensive PSP game in the store.

i did find picross 2 weeks ago for $8.97. i couldnt pass it up but i did pick this up for $2.97 at another location.

I checked about 4 stores myself for Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and they rang up $39.99 at each store.

haha, not as good as the one I found last month that had a bunch of DS games...Tetris DS, Mario vs DK 2, DK Barrel Blast etc for $14.97-19.97

This one was at a mall I hadn't been to in several years...just happened to be driving around the area.

wouldnt happen to be the mall in salem new hampshire would it? that sears has tons of old games, I have only been once myself but there was not a single soul wandering the video game section, it was like heaven for clearance games, I grabbed 40 dollars worth as that was all the money I had... I should really travel back to that sears.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure the NeoGeo was literally a portable arcade machine for home use. I remember drooling over it in the store and wondering why it was so expensive. $600 for the console and $200 for games... MADNESS! :lol:

the one i went to today was in hanover, ma. the one with the old ds games was in north attleboro, ma.

If I remember correctly(and I believe that mguiddy already beat me to it), it cost what the PS3 cost at the beginning of this gaming gen.

Of course, back then everyone wanted an arcade in their living room. If you ask kids growing up now, they'll look at you funny and go 'what the fuck is an arcade?'.

How times have changed.

Today I picked up :360: Lost Odyssey for 9.97 and Jeanne D'Arc for 4.97 :D...

This sears had several titles that were higher than posted like :360: NBA Home Court @ 19.97 each... I really wanted one for 4.97 :cry:.

This was found at a store that still charged $19.99 for Contra 4 and $49.99 for Singstar 80's, so I have no clue if its a company-wide clearance or just for this store.

I reported on that a few weeks ago. Saw it at a couple of different Sears stores. It was one of the few $4.97 games that actually went down in price to $1.97 (most stayed at $4.97).

As always, Sears clearance is YMMV. I've seen it for $4.97 at several Sears stores now.

But I have yet to see Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for under $39.99, Oblivion PS3 for under $19.99, and Contra 4 for under $19.99.

And to explain more the clearance system on TVs and Home Theater; it is nearly impossible to say a universal deep discount price for a TV because it is different from every store. What is supposed to be done is the company provides directive that a TV is to be clearanced, it's marked normally at 20-50% off nationwide.

Once every NIB unit of the TV sells on clearance it enter 991 clearance, which is the floor model (rare instances 1-2 lone NIB units when they haven't sold after a period), it begins at 10% off of the previously determined clearance price, and is reduced an additional 10% every 15 days until it sells or is zeroed out and destroyed.

Because the date it enters 991 clearance depends on when the store sold their stock, it's no use to list prices on individual TVs because every store will be different. However, don't be shy to ask for an additional 10% off for it being a floor model (innocently) as if it is nearing it's next markdown date the manager may discount it early in order to sell it.[/QUOTE]

Floor models are rare but i got lucky about 5 years ago when a HDTV was $1000 plus and got a 36" hdtv samsung fo $497 and i still have it to this day and it rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contra 4 is only $4.97 at the Sears' sister store in the company, K-Mart. If you can find it, that is. I bought one just this past week.
 
Got back earlier tonight and picked up

Heavenly sword - 14.99
Folklore - 9.99
Condemned 2 Bloodshot - 9.99

That's all I saw there that I wanted since I missed heavenly sword at BB for 15 and folklore from best buy for 10.

They also had Turning Point fall of liberty for 9.99, some crappy DBZ game, and that viking game. Those 2 were 14.99
 
I've noticed a couple of retailers seem to have the 360 120 GB HD marked on clearance (from 105-115 YMMV). I can only assume a larger HD is in the works and not a rumor. I'm waiting until they hit below $80 to bite. Any thoughts?
