I don't need Gold, I want credit. Since both have the same value, I figured someone would have a code lying around, just like I do.

I'm pretty sure he understands that. But in the CAG economy, they are not the same value. Currency codes get 85%-90% face value while Gold subs usually get 50%-60% in most transactions. Gold subs go on sale at retail way more frequently, while currency usually doesn't get much more than a freebie $5 code with purchase of a 3-pack of $15 codes (or 10% off if you want to think about it that way).

I think he was trying to be helpful, in his own way, by getting you to reconsider pricing in order to complete a deal with somebody here.
