Original Transformers Movie - deleted scenes

E-Z-B

CAGiversary!
Thought this was interesting:

Here's an old movie trailer used to secure funding for the movie. This trailer was targeted to (new) backers for the movie to complete production on the movie. It was made up of an earlier 20 minute test reel version that was used to draw the initial companies that backed the movie financially. This was before the color scheme of Ultra Magnus was decided. So he still has his Diaclone colours in here. When the movie was released in the orient it was used as the movie's trailer.

Wow, that was a pretty bad trailer overall. I did see a couple scenes that I've never seen before, but then again, I'm sure they'll put something like that on that new dvd that's coming out. As well, weren't there supposed to be some "deleted scenes" that are going to be on it too?

You mean deleted scenes added to the 20th anniversary edition? Not sure - I haven't heard too many details on that yet.

Seemed like more scenes from the beginning of the movie that weren't show(besides one part, the inside of Unicron wasn't shown until the end of the movie).

The attack on Metroplex/Autobot City seemed weird to since that stuff was never shown.

Anyone else that when Unicron was transforming, they showed Galvatron, the Autobot Matrix looks nothing like it did in the final version.

Seeing that reminds me of another series that was good before the japanese screwed it up:

Makes me miss the old animation styles. When it was all hand drawn and it all flowed nicely. Now everything looks like flash animation.

From the discussion site, it was supposed to be Metroplex, but the toy design wasn't completed in time for the movie; hence why we see "Autobot City" instead. Even though Autobot City always was Metroplex.

Sigma Six blows ass monkeys.

That clip brings back memories though. Love the theme song from the movie...

Cooobbrrraaaa (Cobra!)... Cooobbrrraaaa (Cobra!)

Time to whip out the DVD!

If you think Sigma Six blows, look at how they ruined the ending of Transformers: Generation 1. The US version ended with another golden age of cybertron, the japanese one ended very differently(and I thought it was pretty damn distasteful for the series to end that way too). Just in case you don't understand some stuff, here's what it means:

Destrons- Decepticons
Cybertrons- Autobots
Seibertron-Cybertron
Convoy- Optimus Prime

What the crap was that? That was a horrible attempt to find a meaningful "war leads to no good" ending.

And I hate Rodimus. Optimus wouldn't have ran away. Pansy.
I thought Optimus died in the movie, thus giving Hot Rod the Matrix and making him Rodimus. What the hell is going on?
Guess you never saw the end of Season 3. They brought him back twice during that season, one time it was just a one time deal. Then the final two-part episode of that season, "The Return of Optimus Prime", brought him back for good. Although in the US version of the headmasters, he still lives.

Huh, just watched the movie and it's weird at the beginning. When Prime's talking to Ironhide, there's a echo in their voices. I own the original F.H.E. version of the VHS, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Does it do this with anyone's copy?

oh thank god headmaster bull crap didn't get ported over here and everything stopped after that 3 parter rebirth (which never should have aired). Althought it would have been nice to see that much talk about Soundwave vs Blaster fight that killed the two of them :|

Galvatron saying "THIS IS BULLSHIT!!!" was totally funny. :)
Althought it would have been nice to see that much talk about Soundwave vs Blaster fight that killed the two of them :|
Yeah, that would've been cool to see since it seems like they never killed anyone off during the tv show and only did it in the movie. Of course they brought both characters back, strange though is that Soundblaster(the new Soundwave) has the same color scheme while Broadcast(Blaster) got a totally new color scheme.
The Japanese didn't ruin Transformers, they made some good shows and prevented it from dying a slow death.
Then how would you explain the last four series that they've done recently? Those are absolutely horrible. The last decent transformers series was Beast Machines.

I JUST started watching Beast Machines now. Just got done with Beast Wars. I hope it can live up to Beast Wars.

Maybe you can help answer this, when exactly does Beast Wars fit into the Transformers timeline? I remember they mention it happens after G1, but never mention how far ahead. Only remember that cause they had a episode where G1's Ravage showed up.

It takes place hundreds of years after G1, I think. But the whole series involves them accidentally going back to prehistoric times on earth. The Ark is still buried at the volcano, and Beast Wars Megatron tries to destroy the G1 Optimus Prime while he's still deactivated.

Good to see Scramble City getting released here(although from what I've read, it'll have the japanese audio, since they couldn't get the audio rights). Youtube has this, but it has horrible fan dubbed audio:wall:. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, it's episode released only in japan that bridges G1's season 2 & the movie(introduces Metroplex & Tryptocon).

As for the deleted scenes, wasn't there one on the uncut director's version of the Rhino DVD that had some extra part where Optimus died?

Saw the movie in the summer of 1986 at a theater in Long Beach Island NJ after a nice afteroon of surfing. Ahhhh 1986.........

Wow, I wasn't expecting Scramble City to be released in this set. Nice extra. First disc in general sounds really good....don't know how well it'll translate to widescreen. We'll see.

Not sure what you mean - are you talking about the old DVD of the movie? There were no deleted scenes on that one. Or, if you mean extra footage edited in when Prime dies...well, I have no idea.

Honestly, when this was announced I was thinking it was just going to be a new transfer, a commentary, and a trailer for the upcoming Michael Bay nonsense - essentially something where the only/real purpose was to push the upcoming movie. Pleasantly surprised to see they seem to have put a good amount of effort into it.

There were two versions of the Rhino DVD, one was the regular version, the other was a director's cut. Supposedly on the DC version, something happens to his body after it turns black and his head turns to the side(I think it crumbles, but don't remember exactly what it was).
