Holy crap, today I just learned Pinball FX 3 is a thing and it's coming out this summer! Focusing on multiple table playthroughs, akin to Tournament style, and this being the main hub everyone would play in not depending on platform. Like previous titles, most of the tables will carry over free of charge! This is huge.

Info from the World Premier Stream:
New Features
Each table will have Wizard Powers & Passive Upgrades like Slow Down Time, Score Boost, Distance Bonus, Rewind Time (that's really cool), Bumper Score Boost, Skillshot Score Bonus, Multiball Boost, Etc.
Each table will have Challenges, 1 Ball, 5 Minute & Survival Mode:
  • 1 Ball - Self explanatory really, get the highest score with only 1 ball and ball save available.
  • 5 Minute - Again you guessed it, 5 minutes to grab the highest score, unlimited ball and ball saves though.
  • Survival - Build up to a set score to earn the required stars to move on, 1 minute intervals!
Each table also has the option to play with some extra boosts or to play the classic way you've always played. Single player has
Each table has a set mode for Single Player; Single Player, Classic Single Player, Hotseat, Practice:
  • Single Player - Play with the new FX 3 features (Wizard Powers & Passive Upgrades) enabled!
  • Classic Single Player - Play with the classic FX2 features and gameplay style!
  • Hotseat - Play local co-op, pass the controller to a friend!
  • Practice - Have infinite lives and practice on set modes or go through and see the animations!
There's also table mastery on each table, progress and unlock table art. Progress and unlock achievements for each table as well as general ones for FX 3. Progression and unlockables to customize your profile gamerpic thing as well as leaderboards for each mode, challenge, whatever. A lot to unlock, a lot to work on progressing, persistent leveling of everything and friend's scores are going to be a big drive for playing, imo.

Each table with have leaderboards for the set mode or challenges, tournaments have the option to play with these as well and you can pretty much customize your play style for how you want to play.

Matchup is similar to Bethesda Pinball on mobile, you get matched up with another player's score, beat their score and earn rewards. So you have three different goals to shoot for, easy, medium and hard where each will have a score that represents that ease of difficulty. I really like this on their mobile game, you can go for the higher score to gamble on getting bigger rewards and a payout. It is unlimited balls on this mode so it's pretty much a big score challenge.

Tournaments are fully customizable, you can set them to be private or open, whatever mode or challenge you want (so you can make it Classic 1 Ball challenge or FX 3 enabled upgrades Survival if you want) and there will be official tournaments going with official prizes from Zen Studios. You can also just join a tournament your friends or clubs may make as well.

Quick Play lets you get right into the action, a recommended table or a suggested challenge will occupy this space. No need to go through a bunch of menus or if you having trouble which table to play this will help you on that front.
News will have score alerts from your friends and official news from Zen Studios.

Cross play within your gaming network, console users can switch off the feature to just play against console players if you want, you have options.

Do all of your fancy words mean it will be cross-platform play?

Also, I wonder if the tables that carry over from FX2 will be part of the "multiple table playthrough" or if they will be part of a legacy section and more of a tack-on. Either way this looks pretty neat!
 
^ They haven't said but previously it's been Pinball FX 2 on Xbox and PC and Zen Pinball on PS & Vita so they've consolidated into one title now, Pinball FX3. It would be great if it was cross play, could you imagine doesn't matter what platform, you can join in and play someone's matchup no matter where you're playing on. That would be cool.

I wa heavily into Pinball FX2 on the 360 but it didn't quite feel the same in the X1. I haven't played in ages but I'm tempted now.
 
^ Wow, really? It was a superior version on the One. Felt way better for me, more fluid and crisper visuals - since you get 1080P at 60 fps.

It definitely looked better but I couldn't get used to the feel. Admittedly, I should have given it more time but for me, I preferred the bumpers on the 360 controller to control the flippers. I'll probably spend some time on it today.
 
^ There're rolling out more info in the coming weeks or so, I think it's still too early for a release date - my guess would be some time in the fall though. I've updated the OP with info that Akos discussed on Pinball FX3's World Premiere Stream showing off their Beta version of the game.

Looked into this moar and it is cross-platform play between X1 / Win 10 / Steam and PS4 / Steam only, no X1 / PS4 cross-platform. Boo.

It would've been cool to compete against you and other X1 players. I have amassed more than a few pinball friends on PSN and belong to a couple of pinball communities on PS4 (and of the few communities I belong to there, these are definitely the most only active ones) and probably could have organized something between them and X1 users here, like all competing in the same tournaments, etc.

I have Pinball FX 2 on the 360, but only for the exclusive tables (Ms. Splosion Man, Rocky & Bullwinkle, etc.) but haven't played them much and have no plans to get an X1 at this time.

But, if anyone here is on PSN and wants some pinball rivalry (Zen / Marvel / Star Wars / FX 3 / Pinball Arcade), feel free to add me.

^ Oh man I wish Bullwinkle could be imported over, that and the Pirates table I would love to play again. Yeah it's too bad we can't play Xbox 1 to PS4 but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Sony's fault. They had that ability temporarily turned on with Fortnite but they had to turn it off because Sony doesn't want it. Eh, whatever, what will be coming over to PFX3:

^^ Def. Sony. Corporations are never your friend. Sadly one of my favorite tables is not coming over - Ninja Gaiden.

^ Just went back and played the few tables I have for FX2. Man, my scores for those tables are awful. All except Ms. Splosion Man are old school Zen. R&B feels like an early one.

Pirates is good, but I really like the Agents table, forgot about that one. I believe Zen's oddest table is Extreme (the skate boarding table). But its surprisingly fun.

 
Oh yeah Agents was a lot of fun. Extreme I never got into as much due to the close impact zones right near your flippers, ultra hard. At least we get Archer for our Agent itch right lol.
 
I otherwise like the table, but Archer is the most difficult table for me, one of my lowest if not THE lowest of my table scores. Maybe V12 is lower?

 
^Yeah I don't have high scores on Archer, compared to others, but I've done way better than I do with the Venom table. Again, it's like the low impact placement next to the flippers like Extreme so it's a low scoring table for me. The Aliens tables will be coming over. A nice feature with PFX 3 is you can adjust the volume on the voice overs so that'll be used on those lol.

Besides some importing issues early, I've already had a great time messing with the new modes and tables. I'm not sure I like the single player high score modes when you have extra power ups affecting your score, but hopefully the "regular" mode will be most popular. One thing that bums me out is when doing a tournament, your score doesn't also get kept in the regular leaderboards. And since I just had my best game ever in a Sorceror's Lair tourney, you can see why! I'm wondering how the head to head mode thing works too. I was only given 3 very low scores to beat per table, and when you beat one by 30M (for a 5 min table) it's not much of a challenge. Anyway, love it! Yeah I'm enjoying it immensely and considering FX 3 is free and you can import your previous tables in and I picked up the Universal Table Pack so I spent a total of $10. I think I played for like 3 or 4 hours and said ok ok, I need a break lol. SO much to this game (yeah I've been going through tables with the new FX3 features first but agree I'll have to grab some good high scores with classic mode too), it's gonna keep me busy for a while. Yeah I saw your high score pop up on my news feed Doc, super cool new feature. I'm pretty decent on E.T., still need to work on BttF and Jaws.

 
FYI there's a bug that resets your player level and they're working on a fix (claimed a fix is already out for Steam users). :( Today I open the game and it asks me to link my account (that's odd, I already did that) and proceeds to treat you like you're a new player. Went from Level 14 to Level 1, all the upgrades and challenge stars progression gone. The only thing that stuck were leaderboards, league points and my Superscore. fuck

Oh my god, all I want to do is play this game but I can't because it's glitched. FYI don't buy the new tables atm, apparently linked to the bug.

 
Still no issues here (so far). Just had a crazy multi-multi ball session on BTTF. Good enough for 14th. Very high scoring table.
 
Glad you're not affected Doc. Some good news for those that are.

Commented on Zen Studios FB page and they commented back saying they sent their patch to be Xbox certified. That's good because I want to play this freakin' game! I can go on and play, starting from scratch mind you, for a short while and then it boots me back to the dash, so annoying.

 
Oh well, jinxed myself. I actually think it was because I hadn't played anything else and just do the quick shutdown thing so I never restarted the game. Played some Cuphead today (amazing) and then it was glitched after that.
 
Also awww, PFX3 says profile is corrupt and you have to start all over. Not everything was wiped though and notifications are at the top of the screen now - that seemed like a no-brainer.

Update: As far as I can tell, we're good now!

Man, super disappointed the South Park tables didn't get carried over. Street Fighter also getting dropped was disappointing, but kind of understandable since it dates back to the first game.

Finished up all the high-value achievements today. That 1 billion point one was a bitch but eventually managed to get it on the Women of Power Champions table.

Sucked because when I finally cracked 1 billion, I was so relived I accidentally let the ball hit the gutter so I figured I was done...but I didn't realize the ball save activated, and by the time I noticed it it had already dropped back into the hole. fuck.

Currently sitting at number 17 on the leaderboard for that game. I probably could have cracked the top 15 if I hadn't made that stupid mistake.

I believe I can get a good score if I'm able to keep the ball going for a while but it's tough to get all that in 5 minutes. That ET tournament is pretty tough to crack.

Doc, I had your Infinity Table score as an incentive to play 15 minutes and relearn the table. Lol, sitting at 161M on that one.

 
Yeah that table is awesome and nuts. I laid down baseline, 1-play thru score for all the Marvel tables and a few others so far. This is all on Classic. Not a big fan of all the power up stuff.
 
Hahaha, turned off the music & voice overs & played Huey Lewis & the News' "Power of Love" while playing the BttF table, instantly a classic. Grabbed the achievement and a new high score!

Yeah the BTTF table is nuts. Played it only a couple times and that might be enough for me, too much shit going on to keep track of what i'm supposed to be doing during multi-multi-balls!

S.o.B s lol. Shit, I can get a good score but for 5 minutes in I couldn't even get close!

New Tournament is on the Star Wars: Rebels table.

Lol, achieved Fire Across the Galaxy for the table and it says 0.06% completion. You have to do all the Rebels missions to get there. Thankfully I played that table in FX2 so I knew what I was more than likely up to lol.

Lol, Mars is one of the longest running, lifetime that is, tables I've played so it was my surprise when I firstly played the table on Single Player Campaign without any upgrades unlocked achieving 3rd on the leaderboards. That damn Pyramid mode though.
 
Still trying to master Adventure Land but I was able to get to the Wizard mode on Son of Zeus. It's frantically sensory overload at that moment though. There's awareness to the main table, the Underworld part under the table and the Volcano part above the main table. Crazy!
