I just discovered this site yesterday. You pick from a list of literally hundreds of old-school games, and it loads them in a Java window for you to play. I played Milon's Secret Castle, and it was a very solid emulation. I can only assume this doesn't violate any ethical qualms, as you're not installing it on your machine (though you may want to keep the site under your hat, just in case). All old-school gamers MUST check this out:

I had some speed problems on my 1.0 GHz P-III desktop but overall it's pretty cool. Now if I can get it to support a Gravis USB gamepad it would really rock.

Does anybody else have a problem with the Sega stuff appear offset so much of the game is out of view?

Click on the game display area. That got it going for me.

How do you think its ethically/legally ok just because you aren't installing it on your computer? It's still illegal display of a copyrighted material. And you're still playing a game that was never meant to be free that you paid no money for and do not own.

It's no better than roms.

I doubt this will evade the notice of the affected parties, especially Nintendo, for very long. The site operator will get to argue it out with NOA's legal ninjas then.

I wouldn't mind paying a little to the operator and the respective copyright holders up the line for a legal version of this. There are a hell of a lot of these old games, especially arcade machines lacking a good home version, that I'd gladly buy if they put in a reasonably priced collection like those from Midway. I wouldn't pay a quarter to play Donkey Kong but a penny or two could really add up.
finally get to play bubble bath babes. what a bizarre piece of entertainment
A little interesting but I can't get past the first level so I can't see if there is any reward in blocky pixel glory.

If my USB gamepad wasn't packed away I'd use JoyToKey to make these more playable.

Yeah, except Nintendo would never agree to license this through a 3rd party website. At least I don't see it happening.

I don't think Nintendo can sue me for playing an NES game over a web site (though they've sued over dumber things). To me, it's like going to a friend's house and playing one of their games for a little while, then going home.

You may feel otherwise, and that's cool. We all have our lines drawn in different places. I personally draw it at owning bootleg CD-Rs of PSone games and more recent consoles. I've slept good at night ever since I played Milon's Secret Castle and Zen, Intergalactic Ninja for

You probably don't have the right version of Java installed on your computer. There's a link to download it somewhere on the page.

I dont think its illegal to play them from the server, but it is illegal for them to be hosting it I imagine. Unless they own all the carts and somehow have distribution rights too...

I haven't tried this yet, but how does saving your games go (if you can even do that), as I'd love to replay chronicles of the radia war without sitting at my computer for 8 hours.

I'm sure it will be shut down soon, but it's a good way for me to try out some games I think I want to buy and find out for sure. I'm not going to sit at my computer and play them for more than a couple minutes.

Got to be breaking copyright laws.

Do people really find something wrong with playing the games offered on this site? I kind of see the point but not really...

Great link. My Pentium 3 733 PC run it with great difficulty (very slow) and there is no sound.
Is it me or is everything really slow?
I thought the same thing, but it may just be because games today seem so much faster.

No, I mean slow as in barely playable... check out ms. pac man or something where timing matters and you will see what I mean...

I couldn't get the sound to work, and Ms. Pac Man didn't even come up for me. Other than that I tried Blaster Master, Ninja Gaiden and Archon. Pretty cool but definitely feels slow.

Re: slowness

I think it's because the site has been hit much harder then anticipated. I've seen links to this site in 4 different places within the last 2 days. It must be getting crazy amounts of traffic causing the servers to slow way down. Either they will upgrade to better servers or be overwhelmed and shut down. Check back in a few days.

Either that or emulators don't transfer well to java.

Cletus (Very, very slowly attempting to play Earthbound Zero as I type this.)

OK, I logged in to post this site but I see you guys are waaay ahead of me again.

So instead, here are a few MUST plays for those of you who may not have got the chance the first time around. These were my favorite games that you may/may not have heard of.

Legacy of the Wizard. (oh man, sooo many days wasted on this game lol)
Blaster Master
Silent Service (submarine game, pretty detailed controls)
A Boy and His Blob
Hudson's Adventure Island
Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers
Milons Secret Castle
Excitebike
Heavy Barrel
Ikari warriors
Klax
Little Nemo the Dream Master (excellent graphics at that time)
Maniac Mansion (never did beat that one)
NARC
RC Pro Am (One of my favoites and still fun!)
Shadowgate (another fun yet hard to beat game)
Super Spike V'ball (charge up your power meter and blast your opponent off the screen. My little brother HATED that lol)
T & C Surf
Ultima Exodius (my first RPG. i wish the site would let you save. i am going to have to leave my computer on for a month with this one)

Of course I haven't mentioned the really popular ones like Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc. The above ones were my most favorite. Enjoy the site while it lasts. Anyone want to bet on how long its up for?
