PlayOn is back down to 20 bucks again. This streams hulu, netflix, youtube, files to your consoles.

PlayOn gets Netflix, Hulu, Adultswim, South Park, and all your favorite streaming internet content off your computer screen and onto your TV. All you need is a gaming console: PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii. For a limited time you can get PlayOn for a one-time cost of only $19.99. That’s $20 off!

To take advantage of this offer just enter coupon code PAX1999, redeem it, then click on Buy Now by September 18th, 2009.

I'm trying the 2 week free trial, but this looks pretty good to me:

downloaded the trial version, seems pretty good like how you can choose from the videos and all, went to cbs and not many videos though, anyway to update it

I'm on the fence. I might install the alternative: TVersity. Problem with TVersity (free) is that it is not compatible with netflix and it seemed to be installing spyware if I remember correctly (ask toolbar :( ). I have a 360+gold which I think is superior for netflix streaming after my quick test this morning. It would be cool to get netflix on psp via remoteplay though.

I used to be a proponent of PlayOn; but now that Hulu's library is continuously shrinking, it's becoming more difficult to justify the actual purchase of PlayOn vs. some of the free software that exists.

$20 isn't too bad if you're a Netflix subscriber; but if you're not, then I wouldn't spend the money on PlayOn when there's other free options.

TVersity is fine for streaming content on your PC to your PS3 but you can't stream online content without paying for the $30 upgrade. And TVersity doesn't install spyware. It gives the option to install the Ask toolbar but if you actually pay attention to the shit you install on your computer you'll see that you can just uncheck "Would you like to install the Ask.com toolbar".

I use TVersity to stream my own content and I use PlayOn for Hulu, Netflix, CBS, and Gametrailers.

If PLayon can improve the management of local files and/or get hidef content thru netflix's instant queue then it might be worth the $$$$. Unfortunately streaming performance for local files thru the software itself or the plugin is no where near the quality of either Tversity or PS3Mediaserver which are both free. I own playon and used it for netflix which was great until I cancelled netflix due to the lack of HD content in the intant queue. I now use ps3media server for local content but still use playon for the plugins mentioned above. I also noticed that the above poster failed to mention two of the most downloaded plugins for playon - Redtube and Youporn.

TVersity's Pro edition is free right now per slickdeals.

"TVersity is a streaming service that allows streaming of internet media such as Hulu and YouTube for Xbox360, PS3, Wii, mobile devices, and more. It also streams media from your computer over your network to your media devices (xbox, ps3, wii, etc). It is alot like PlayOn but its FREE"

Argh, I just bought this for $30 not two weeks ago. Has been great streaming to the Wii, starting to run out of things to watch, however. Then again, if the queue functions were better for hulu, it might not be as bad. It plays the queue, but doesn't remove from queue, resulting in the need to manually adjust. Alas, still functions.

The Pro version has always been "free" (it's really more like an honor system where they expect you to buy a license if you use the software and like it). It's been this way since I started using TVersity about 9 or 10 months ago, probably longer. For some reason, it's popping up all over deal sites now and everyone's eating it up like some kind of amazing, limited time offer. Personally, I would pay for PlayOn long before I paid for TVersity, as I think it's far superior software.

I bit. Had been looking for a way to stream Netflix to my PS3 after my 360 Live service expired.

Are you streaming hi-def material? The key to successfully streaming hi-def stuff to the ps3 is having a wired internet connection and making sure the files are in a format the ps3 can play natively so tversity doesnt have to transcode on the fly. I have no problems streaming even 1080p movies on an old core2duo machine if the files are ps3 compatible, and if not I use mkv2vob to convert the mkv file to something the ps3 can play.

Yea I'm not wired. I figured that would fix the problem. Didn't know if this was better. I was using .mkv and they would work OK on Vista 64. Since switching to Windows 7 32bit it's not as nice. Not a biggie though. Thanks for the heads up on the hard wire. I also have switched out my router since last using TVersity.

I might bite on this later next week. $30 was too much, but $20 seems like the perfect price for this. Especially once I get a PS3.

Also make sure your routers firmware is up to date, even if you bought it yesterday. A firmware updated helped me 100 times over and I now steam with almost no stutter wirelessly. I would hardwire but that's not an option for my setup.

I used TVersity as well as PlayON and I greatly prefer PlayON and its plugins. $20 is the cheapest it gets so grab it if you're interested.

Sidenote: For those of you who haven't used a service like this before, fastforward/rewind are VERY limited and YMMV (I can do 1.5x-2.0x speed at max indefinetely); you'll pretty much never be able to jump to a scene and/or time. It's just the way the programs work and the DNLA media players work.

I've been getting file corrupted errors on the PS3 for netflix/hulu. Espn has been working fine. Any ideas? One day left to buy at $20.

Check your version level. It should be 2.59.3546.44. If its not download the latest version manualy. They had a problem reporting back that you have the latest version running when its not. They will probably extend your trial again if you do. I have Playon since last Christmas and has been well worth it. Don't forget to check out the plugins. www.playonplugins.com - lots of additional chanels to play with.

I have 2.59.3540.42. I downloaded it a week ago though. I'm sort of surprise that there is a new version already.

Downloaded the new software and works great. I'm going to buy it. Thanks!

I downloaded the demo about a month ago.

I got it working on the PS3 easily, but it was stuttery as hell. Unwatchable. I know I have to mess with my PS3 settings, but just didn't want to bother right now.

Tried it on the 360. I can get Netflix no problem through the dashboard, but I couldn't get PlayOn to work no matter what. It's not so much PlayOn's fault as it is the cumbersome Media Center setup, but it just won't work. I spent awhile trying to figure it all out and the most common remedies didn't work.

This deal ends pretty soon, this weekend I believe. You fence riders better bite soon.

@blandstalker I'm having the same problems with stuttering but only with some things. Syfy and the simpsons just needed a second to buffer but netflix isn't working well at all. Even youpor... er something else worked better.

Hmm...if I didn't have a really nice large screen LCD monitor that at the moment is far better than my TV, I might go for this. However, since I do? Can't really see the need for this...guess I'm passing.

Coupon still seems to work....still not sure if I want it or not. I tried the demo a while ago and it worked "OK", I wonder if it is better now. I already get Netflix with my 360 gold subscription. I guess Hulu and other stuff would be nice....hmmmm.

I grabbed yesterday. Have used the demo on 360 a few times. Neat to watch Daily Show/Simpsons when I miss them (which is frequently). Need to give it a whirl on Wii.

Nothing works on my ps3. I get "data corrupted" but everything works on the 360. Vuze streams just fine. Anyone have any idea what the issue might be?
