PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Yeah, let me look for the guide. someone posted a really good one in the last of us remaster thread. Best advice is to make sure you have a really thing flat hit to get under the casing to pop it off. Also pealing back some of the sticker can be a pain. Over all its really easy though.

Edit: Heres the link: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/333474-gamestop-get-the-last-of-us-remastered-50-off-when-trading-in-the-last-of-us-for-ps3/?p=11976266
Much appreciation!

The Last of Us or Destiny for PS4? I can only afford one right now and I am on the fence on which I should get. I played the beta for Destiny and it was fun and I've heard such good things about the last of us...

Yea I could see a sale on last of us, not to mention it is already $10 cheaper... it will start to go down... but that TLOU MP!!!

The Last Of Us. If you haven't played it yet, you owe it to yourself to play it as soon as you can! *Stop with the "it'll go down to $20" shit, every game will reach $20 at some point!*

I'd say Destiny, because the Last of Us is going to go down in price . . . but also, you can still pre-order Destiny and get the bonuses.  Not to mention, it may have limited time events near launch (based off how the beta went).

Of course, this is all based off of if you have friends to play with.  If you don't and prefer single player, you may wish to go towards the Last of Us.

I dont even know why these are stories anymore. Almost every studio lays people off after they finish a project.
It's the gaming media scrambling for click-bait and trying to start fanboy wars.

It happens, it's the way of the industry... Yet people always fall for it and believe it spells doom and gloom.

Sucks for the people who lost their jobs but this has become the norm for most industries today. There is always some downsizing that occurs between large projects. Companies try to keep their overhead/payroll down, knowing full well that there is a dearth of talented people on the market eager to work when the next project ramps up.

It's a shame that companies choose to treat employees like this but the truth of the matter is that no one gives a shit until it affects them.

So ever since GamesCom, I've been reading about Wild and watching the trailer. Apparently all of the animals and people in the world are playable. I'm really excited about this title and can't wait till we hear more. I might be looking forward to this game more than I am No Mans Sky now.

Also I still haven't watched the conference from GamesCom but I've read a ton of info online from IGN, N4G, and other sites about everything they showed. More then one of the articles I read mention Sony saying all games they showed will be available within 6 months. Is this true or maybe I misunderstood?

Is there anyway to delete things from your PS4 library? I played the Thief demo and deleted it but it still shows up in my library. I thought the library looked like a cool feature but not if its going to keep track of every game, demo, app you try. Id rather just see the games that i can download from PS+ or games i own in physical form.

Nope, as of right now the library is just a glorified download list. It sucks.

Yeah see I don't play a lot of friends with a ps4, but I played the destiny beta and enjoyed it. But if the last of us might go down in price for Xmas, it might be good to wait.

If you're gonna wait for christmas for the last of us to go down in price, why not wait until next spring for destiny to go down?

I officially have a 2TB HDD in my PS4. It was a super easy process, even removing the drive from the enclosure. The most difficult part was downloading again and reinstalling everything. I'm glad I upgraded now instead of waiting a couple years. I currently have 14 disc based games and about 10-12 digital games. My stock drive only had 40GB free. I don't think I will ever need more than 2TB. At the point when 2TB of games are installed, it may be time to remove a couple.

To anyone on the fence, I highly recommend doing this. Even if your worried about opening the system or enclosure up, it's not very hard. Sony has made upgrading the HDD really simple. And there are many guides and tutorials online that walk you right through it.

That is the drive I bought. For $99, I upgraded my PS4 HDD and also gained a 500GB external for anything I want. Mine is going to be hooked up to my Xbox One.

I never knew that you can remove those portable HDD case. Was it easy to put the enclosure back on for the 500gb?

Yes it was easy to put back together, it just snaps. Most externals can't be used like that. This drive in particular has the 2.5 SamSung SpinPoint M9T 2TB HDD inside. I believe that's the only 2TB 2.5 drive that is also 9.5mm on the market. Also if you purchase the bare drive alone, it's more expensive and difficult to find.

Another quick question. Im download 2 games right now and i dont see any way to pause either one. Usually on the PS3 i like to pause one so the other can download quicker. Is there any way to pause downloads?

Not a problem. I've had to do the same thing before. It's the only major thing that bugs me on PS4 right now. I hate not being able to pause any downloads.

I might end up picking that up as I've been trying to decide if I want to upgrade my PS4's HDD. The only thing holding me back right now is that my PS4 is largely my secondary console, but even so with all the free plus games and PS4 exclusives my HDD is filling up quick.

what is sony using our ps plus money on it's obvious it's not better servers and security.
Well, you do know that Xbox Live is now down as well right? As well as several other gaming servers the last few days.

I knew you would be here sooner or later to make something out of nothing :)

plz explain how live is down lol im on live on xbox one as i speak. something out of nothing after that month with no psn after simple ddos hack on psn couple years ago. if you have good security you can stop ddos attacks and sony rents servers from amazon REALLY. im a paying customer i demand better service.

People are playing Warframe on PS4 now, whats your point? People are having problems with Xbox, people are having problems with PS, and multiple gaming sites (and Brazzers) are having similar issues.

Judging by your posts, you dont know what ddos is (for one, its not a hack).

ddos = sending tons of packets to server that makes the server crash = something learned in middle school nice try sir.

if you would read into how these people keep getting sony's server info you would understand how bad security sony has. Why would company rent servers from amazon for big thing like psn. This has nothing ot do with fanboy thing if ms had this keep happen to them i would feel the same way about them. In the end ms is a IT compnay and will have better secuity messures then sony.

Your argument is hilariously ignorant. There's no magic way to protect yourself from a DDOS attack. Hell Riot Games, and Blizzard have also been targeted in this same attack and they're billion dollar companies like Sony. Does that mean they're just being cheap and have bad security? No it just means there's no simple switch to prevent issues like this and there's no magic button to instantly solve them.

well im done with this topic seeing i hate talking about idiots like this. they make us computer people look evil oh and to add they called in a bomb threat to the plane that soe president was on that is not cool and hope they get many years in fed jail.

Im enjoying the HAXOR war that seems to be going on Twitter and Facebook.

All of these 14 year olds are going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize people better than them have been caught. Just a matter of time.

Yeah, sure looks fine.

Most PSN services have been restored as well but this is not just a Sony problem. Blizzard, Riot, MS, Steam and Sony and even ALS bucket challenge web site have been attacked.
Wait what? That list shows every service and app is online and working. The message they have is as followed.

Hi Xbox members. Are you having trouble connecting to Party Chat on Diablo III on Xbox One and Xbox 360? Additionally, Xbox One users, are you experiencing server unavailability issues? Us too, but we’re working alongside our partner to get these issues fixed ASAP! We’ll keep you posted when we have more information on this issue. In the meantime, thanks for staying patient.

That issue in particular is because Blizzard's servers are being DDOS'ed. All of Microsoft's services are working fine.

Seriously should have read into that some more.

There were more things offline when he originally posted that.

You guys will turn any comment into a console war lol.
How exactly is this a console war? several services over the past few days. This is more than some stupid Xbox/Playstation crap. They attacked other services as well and even claimed false comments to get a plane re-routed.

Tomb Raider discussion is nowhere near close.  But again, not beating a dead horse here.

Nothing was brought up at all about MS from Timbo even though his misinformation or maybe even withholding of info about the subject.  While I haven't seen any official gaming sites broadcast the news as it happened unlike Sony, I'm not throwing out the possibility that it did.

With that said, this type of stuff is normal.
