Playstation 5 Re-stock Thread

Buy your new TELEVISION before you buy your new CONSOLE (at $600+ with accessories), people.. It will serve all of your interests going forward and will be noticeable even when streaming content. Because otherwise the only benefit you will receive is faster load times. A quality television makes all of your content across all your devices look much better, including higher streaming quality.
The bolded is just factually incorrect.

And the fact you think you are getting true 4k content streaming says all I need to know about your knowledge on this subject.

jesus christ it's like dealing with walmart shoppers on here.

Did I say that you get "true 4K content through streaming"?? Nope.

I have several hundred 4K discs. because they have much higher video quality with nearly three times the bitrate than streaming. How about you?

Yeah I have my XSX and PS5 hooked to my projector that is only 1080p and the screen is 10 feet and it looks fantastic.

4k is completely overrated IMO. I have a 4k 60" TV and it's just not that drastic of a difference at all.
statements like these deserve more context. whats the TV model? Is either that tv or the projector have hdmi 2.1?

edit. just saw that you answered this already

Most TVs don't have HDMI 2.1 either. And like I said already, no Sony TV has VRR yet.

My "date" 1080p has sub 10ms input delay. There's no 4K TV that's sub 10ms. And I'd choose performance mode 100% of the time anyways, unless I was playing with photo mode. Then it doesn't really matter if you have a 1080p TV anyways.

Samsung q90a?

man WTF how is Sony having yet another Queue off its site yet my purchased PS5 from Walmart on 8/12 is still saying October 5th to be delivered......

OK, I can't tell you guys how I know this, but I can basically promise you that if you get a gamestop pro membership you will be able to buy one. Just saying. Quit fucking around, and wait for the next gamestop drop, and then thank me afterwards.

Sure if you want $300-400 worth of added stuff you dont really want added to it

I personally won't even be interested in upgrading my projector to a 4k projector until we get 4k gaming with HDR and ray tracing at 60fps as the lowest common denominator. That is probably 2 console generations away, or 1 depending how long the current gen lasts.

Part of a game looking "good" is having at least a 60fps framerate. I don't care how "good" a game looks in 4k with HDR/RT if it is running at a choppy 30fps.
I’ve got the mid tier NX7 JVC 4K projector with Frame Adapt (auto tone mapping) HDR. It is gobsmacking. If you consider upgrading it is totally worth it.

I would need to upgrade my AVR too and just don't plan on doing any of that yet until I find it a bit more necessary for my uses. At this point I'm waiting for HDMI 2.1 to be standard on em.

I received an email on Monday with an invite to purchase a PS5 from Playstation Direct. I had my doubts but after a short wait I was able to order a PS5 from Sony yesterday, so I'm pretty stoked.
How do you register for this/the queues? I have no idea.

Holy fuck you people with the tech epeenery. I'm all for dunking on people but you're going in circles. If you need to upgrade TV and machine you're probably going to have to make a decision one before the other. Availability and cost are always a factor, if a console shows up you take the shot. No, a Series X for a digital PS5 is not a good trade straight up, I'd need something thrown in coming back. I won't buy a discless machine as long as we can get $10 disc games.

Hisense U7G is beautiful for me, got 65" for $949.

Recommend spending extra when the U8H is on sale. They’re priced nearly the same. The u8H is crazy nice and bright. I like mine a lot.

No argument here, 1400 vs 1000 nit. If I stayed 55" I would have done it but I jumped and bought at launch before the price increase.

I don't think there's a registration. You just need a PSN account and you may or may not receive a direct invitation when the time comes. I didn't sign up for anything and they sent me an email.

I think you just have to be signed up for Playstation emails. The email said that I was selected based off my activities on Playstation, but I only had a PS4 and only played it maybe a couple times per month.

Either way, my PS5 was delivered in just two days so I'm very happy with the service.

And again it makes no sense your PS5 was in hand ready to ship and yet the last Walmart drop my console says ships in October lol WTF I wouldnt even have bought it knowing it was that late but they didnt let you know that until after you purchased.. Just makes me wonder how they can sell these things without potentially having secured stock to sell...

Yeah it is unfair to everyone else. I had given up on getting a PS5 from any retail store and was willing to accept that I wasn't going to get one anytime soon. But then this happened so it was a big surprise.

i'm in the same boat I bought it on the 12th, it was pending in my cc purchases and then it's not. The status still says preparing to ship 10 days later arriving on/by September 23rd

When I got mine from Walmart a few weeks after release, it originally had a 3 week arrival date after the order. But about a week later I got shipping notification. Hopefully that happens to yours even though your timeline is more spread out than mine was.

That's what constantly confuses me with the PS5 ordering. Some sites appear to have stock in hand and ready to ship, but then Wal Mart says not until October (which is still fine as long as I get one).

It's odd on Walmart's end almost like the stock they get in is for the previous drop and if you breakthrough the bots and get lucky it's like a raincheck/placement till the next time they do a drop

My August 12th, Walmart PS5 order got updated this morning to September 1st delivery.  Original delivery date was Sep.24th.

I got the email invite from Sony Direct for a restock today.  Process was painless, done in 5 minutes.  I didn't do anything special for the invite, it just randomly showed up yesterday.

When I originally bought mine from Walmart I ordered June 17th and didn't get it until July 20th. Was peeved as hell. Recently managed to get into the recent Sony drop for a disk version. Ordered Thursday, had it in hand Monday. Walmart is definitely selling stock they don't have.
