Using Stars points for wallet funds has been removed as an option for many, including myself sadly.

Sucks if they are removing it for good.

Too many good games out there to waste time playing shit. I wont list the games but I have bout a few that I regret and just choose to move on rather than waste my time on them.
For me, games are primarily ways to relax from actual work and stressful things. I'd say don't stress over it and play what you want. Just just chalk it up as a lesson learned regarding future purchases.
Yeah I learned that lesson, especially with BL3 because it was $8. I've been forcing it and struggling to play it off and on over a couple of years now. Its pains me knowing if i move on ive have wasted money but forcing would mean I'm not happy.

While I agree it's better to move onto games you actually want to play, I've always liked the idea of spending like at least an hour on some of your backlog, just to get actual closure on whether or not you're actually going to ever play it.

Now some games of course take longer to get their hooks into you (like JRPGs...), but better than nothing. Oftentimes I've realized the biggest barrier to getting into a game is just simply finding the time to actually start it up.
During 30mins or whatever could spark something but it doesnt help getting me or whoever that spark to touch it

Glad I cashed out when it came back online after it was down for a while. Finally used my free funds on Prince of Persia DLC expansion and also bought Bo Path of the Lotus.

I still see the $5 and $10 rewards. Hopefully they stick around for a while, I'm 200 points away from $5. It's sad to see how much of a mess the program is with little to no communication about what's going on with it.

Play what you think will make you happy. At this point once we have the disposable income for all these games it becomes more about making the most of the free time you have to play more than the monetary value.

Yeah too many people go for the sunk cost fallacy and say I paid money for these and I need to play them fully. While I do believe you should try to use/watch/play what you get, sometimes you get a game at some point and you know you'll never play it. Early on in my bundle buying days on PC I would redeem everything, which lead to my Steam library probably getting about 1500 games of pure bad/unfinished/whatever games. I classify the ones I know as bad and don't open said Steam folder. Another example is me paying about $30 or so for Loop8. I played it for a few hours and it made me angry and was a pretty bad game before being angry. I could use another maybe 15-20 hours to finish it, but instead I abandoned it and am likely just donating it because it doesn't really sell for anything.

Time should be thought of just as much as monetary money as it's finite as well. If a game sucks or is just not for me I don't punch myself in the gut for buying said game/bundle and instead say okay I know I don't want to play this. It's off my list forever time to move on. I think just about everyone has made bad purchases at one time or another. I was a dummy for buying too many anime figures when I first started working. About 1/2 of those are sold off/donated now. At least I know I know what I want in the future, and I buy anime figures once in a blue moon usually an expensive Miku Figma I like.

Pretty much just goes with what I think about life now. Enjoy what you love, get rid of what doesn't bring you joy, appreciate things, and make time for what really matters.

So is Sony going to just make us use the points to buy whatever game is has available and no more PSN currency?

Some people still have it and others say it may be a glitch. But the text on the PS Stars site and FAQ no longer mention converting points to wallet funds as an option, so I’m thinking it’s going away sadly. Just my 2 cents.

I beat Astro Bot and got the Platinum. Really fun game (hated those button challenge levels though) and loved seeing some of the cameos/bots (Alundra, Rudy from Wild Arms, Amaterasu, Polygon Man) and also loved how they paid homage to every one (Kiryu's was fucking hilarious). Of course, shame there was no SE representation given how strong/long that relationship with Sony has been... more so when Cloud/Seppy are in Smash Bros.

With all that said, Octodad was one that really caught me off-guard... I don't think I played more than a few minutes of that game but I also don't think it had any real following or fanfare. If they needed a filler, there are tons of other PS/Sony characters they could have used. Feel like Spider-Man should be in here since Sony has the licensing rights to the games/movies but prob not that simple.

Got a question for you guys. I used to have a lot of trouble with multiple version installs. What if I use my PS4 disc to install Like a Dragon 1, and then update it to get the PS5 digital license of the game for free. stay with me here. So you need the PS4 disc in order to launch the game. Okay I've done that a few times, with major issues and annoyances. But I want to get a PS5 disc version of the game, just not spend $40 on it today. So here's my question. What happens when I start that PS5 save file (digital / ps4 rights) using the PS4 disc, and then later upgrade to be using the PS5 retail disc version of the game? Will there be any issues? Or will it play my previous save file like normal using the new PS5 disc??

(Please don't be dismissive or assuming. I've had a TON of trouble going back to 2020 when doing things as simple as playing the PS5 version from a PS4 disc. It's easily been the biggest problem this gen: Sony bungling permissions, and requiring multiple installs. not recognizing them.)

Could give it a try if you have a Netflix sub. Got good reviews and I already have the first. So just budget collecting at this point.
Oh yeah I forgot it was a Netflix thing. Definitely not a place I think to play games. I'll check it out, I'm sure it'll be worth $2, I enjoyed the first one.

Incredibly stupid that the cover plates don't fit. Put as much filler in the middle as you need to make them work. Bad design choice in my opinion, especially when the bottom ones will work since the disc drive cover plate works.
To be fair Sony did say this from day one about the covers "Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available", but people chose to believe that tech radar article with no actual source saying Slim covers would fit (which they quietly deleted yesterday). Sony has only confirmed one of the four existing plates will fit The Pro, The disc drive cover. Probably due to larger size and thickness of console. I'm sure we'll get another complete console breakdown in the next few days. Seeing the components up close will tell the full story.

Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is live for PS+ members now:

Looks like the Slim covers will not fit the PS5 Pro. From Amazon Japan's PS5 Pro preorder page.

Someone help me out here, I get why they're showing the regular and digital original PS5... but why are they showing the slim with and without the disc drive? Isn't the system, by default without the disc drive? Or did Japan get a SKU with the disc drive already on?

There are disc and digital versions of the Slim, too. They don't have the disc drive attached, but it comes in the box to attach yourself.

There are still two sku's as frisky said. The slim digital was released everywhere. Probably just in lower supply. I've never seen one in person.

Its just to show that it comes with faceplate for the disc drive if you got one.

no one else does that like me huh?

have some old PS4 games for years which you haven't started. or bought some other cheap disc editions for $9.99. but know you want to upgrade to a PS5 disc version eventually for your permanent collection?

I buy cheap games all the time, like GoW Ragnarok from BB for $9.99 on PS4 last month. There's also the contemplation of whether PS4 discs are a decent purchase bc they give you both versions. I guess this stuff that I find repeatedly applicable is basically not applicable to other people. It's like I'm the only one upgrading outdated disc versions. Like these new Resident Evil 2, 3 PS5 disc editions are appealing to acquire to me, even though I've got the matching spine set of complete RE PS4 cases.

I feel like a lot of people just don't have experience with the 'multiple version installs' PS5 thing tho. Which isn't very surprising, if somewhere between 50%-90% of game purchases are digital now.

I see them all the time at Target, and Best Buy. Just the other day I saw multiple NBA 2K digital slim bundles. They seem to be more readily available than they were at launch.

This is dumb as hell. I got kicked out of the room 2min. right before the drop.

i.e. you don't want to accept your queue invite 20min. before the item goes live. It will time you out because you have like 15min to purchase or something. So pointless. That's what happened today from entering the queue 30min early.

(The 30th digital system is "currently unavailable" now btw)

My experience was
10am pst: enter que for first time, 4 min wait
10:35: kicked back into que, 9 min wait
11:02: able to add aniv. slim to cart. additional ~1min que to chekout. completed purchase.
11:03: navigated to controller page, new que with 45 min wait. forget it.

I threw the page a refresh every few min during the last session, so perhaps that's what kept my active session open longer.

I queued about 10 minutes before the drop on a controller. About 30 minute wait.

Got one purchased. For curiosity, entered queue again. Less than 20 minute wait.

Luckily not a ton of demand, in comparison to the last drop, and I'd rather pay Sony directly than deal with GameStop or BestBuy. Glad to finally snag one.

I didn't realize the 30th anniversary slim comes with the vertical stand until just now. I thought the $50 extra on the price was just because it's a limited edition, so that's nice at least. I would have preferred to get one from PS direct, but got one from gamestop so didn't want to deal with canceling and sitting in the queue. Congrats to those that got one! Excited for these to ship.

The mobile studio Neon Koi also shutting down

Ok cool. I've only been to a target once this year to pick up a vacuum. Haven't been to best buy at all this year. After hearing how game sells on Playstation are mostly digitally, it's good to have more out there. The demand is there.
