I agree with Maximus. I don’t believe this console exists. Truly the whole experience with ordering this with sony direct two weeks ago and today at retailers is a shitshow. Really bad faith on Sony’s end.

I‘m using two devices, separate IPs, multiple tabs on multiple websites. Can’t add to cart or get past ‘wait in line’ for nearly an hour now. Just utter nonsense and a purely horrible experience.
 
We live in a time where bots are the norm to get extremely limited shit. It happens with everything, Nike Drops, Clothing Drops, PS5 consoles, etc. You ain't gonna beat someone who invests money to help them buy multiples of one thing. Until Sony and whoever else puts some sort of steps to prevent shit like this, like Sony did in Japan somewhat, this will be the norm going forward. And as those bots get better and better, and resellers keep paying for them, it will only get harder and harder for the normal finger-pushing consumer.

That’s where rules and laws need to come into place. Regulation if you will. Make it illegal. A felony, to mess with websites or use bots.

I said this here in the thread weeks ago. Any reseller‘s account should be blacklisted from eBay and their info should be sent to the authorities for fraud. That is of course my opinion, though the only way to stop this nonsense Is to come down with a heavy hand and ‘throw the book at them’.

Its all an elaborate ruse to get people to subscribe to their pro membership. Just like the walmart membership. The consoles don't exist. Save your time and don't subscribe to these lame services in hopes of winning a lottery that you can't win at. The table is tilted folks.

They are definitely out there. Keep trying gamestop. Who would have guessed sony would actually make a limited edition.....limited. I'm guessing under 30k total for all regions

You might as well blame the people that are willing to throw away 1k on these. I knew when I saw that. These would be gone in a instant. Sony never gave any numbers so there could be another batch.
 
So let me see if I’ve got this straight. The Astro Bot controller was a hoax because it wasn’t limited enough and the 30th anniversary consoles are a hoax because they are too limited?

Yea I just grabbed the pro on Amazon so I can finance 12 months. I’m debating when to sell my base model now.

I've been using these on my Steam Deck and they hold up really well. I highly recommend them!
 
the slim anniversary ps5 was a lot more difficult to get than I anticipated this morning.

I managed to get one at Gamestop so I got lucky and am definitely happy.

But I was very surprised to see I was in a line at Walmart (for Walmart+ people only) and despite my wait time being 8 minutes, it was sold out by the time I got passed the line.

Then I continued my streak of not getting a SINGLE item at Best Buy since they implemented their queueing mechanism a few years ago. Literally Ive never gotten an item from them when theres a queue. I just sat in the queue and then when it loaded just "sold out"

and finally Target going live at midnight early. not sure what that was all about.

Amazon still has not gone live yet for those that are still looking.

oh and I woke up 20 minutes before 7am pst so I was right there as soon as they went live, yet still almost didnt get one. crazy.

I was checking it once in a while and I saw the red pre order now so I believe it was available but everyone else was spamming the button im sure, then. it eventually sold out.
 
I got a ps5 pro from ps direct using my AAA card that gets 1% cash back. Now I got one from Bestbuy using my Bestbuy card that gets 5% back in rewards. I'd rather get the Bestbuy one but I feel like Ps direct ships faster and could possibly even arrive early. How's Bestbuy's shipping been lately? I ordered an Apple Watch series 10 from them and after 2 weeks it never shipped so I just cancelled it lol
 
does anyone know if the 30th anniversary controller has ever been available at samsclub.com? it shows out of stock, but all their ps5 controllers are $59 right now including the 30th (all sold out except black and white)

Same, haven't gotten a single thing that has the queue from best buy since they started doing this. Seems like it's somehow better for bots.

Best buy has been great for me lately with delivery, getting everything on release.

I was going to grab a pro if I couldn't get the 30th slim. I'll probably either get the pro down the line if they do a special edition or bundle or might just wait for PS6. When it was announced I figured I'd definitely grab one at launch, but it's cooled a bit since then.
 
Sony really messed up the pro launch I think, with the 30th anniversary stuff at the same time. The pro is what they should have been highlighting as the hot new item, the next must have advancement in Sony Home consoles, but all people want on it’s retail launch day is a gray color scheme of the old model.
 
Hey, so does anyone know if you can still use space bucks to buy Amazon or best buy gift cards and then use that to buy PSN credit? Wanna grab astro bot, but I can't find any digital codes on Amazon or Best Buy and don't want to try converting without confirmation.

I had heard that retailers had put a stop to that months ago, but again just wondered if anyone knew or had successfully done so recently? Thanks.

or did they just convince a bunch of people that aren't going to buy a pro to fight over a year old console with a paint job and pay a premium for it, possibly selling more disc drives in the process? and at the same time selling the pro to early adopters that were going to buy it no matter what any way?

I mean it sure seems like, whatever they did, given how many people here are getting the Pro based on the responses on other websites- it sure seems like demand for the Pro is healthy.

Even with all the comparisons and whatnot, it's hard to say if the Pro is worth the upgrade. Comparisons of pictures side-by-side and videos online don't help, would love to see how this thing looks in person.
 
We don’t know sales numbers, and I’m sure they love selling different color 4 year old hardware at $100 premium, a $200 premium really, when you consider discounts the slim has already had. Just the pro still being in stock everywhere indicates to me it may not be selling well. And if going by anecdotes, I see lots more saying they bought or wanted a gray slim than the pro. If all that was for sale today and a few weeks ago at PS direct was the Pro, that’s what everyone would be scrambling for, is all I’m saying.
 
Sony had no issues moving the 30th Pro. In fact, i think some of this high demand for the slim is because of people settling for a 30th themed console.

If sales for the pro continue to be lackluster, I can see them doing more special editions. I don't see them lowering the price.

I didn't at all expect it to sell out anywhere. There's no chip shortage anymore and the PS4 Pro didn't sell out either. After like a year the production of the PS4 Pro slowed and they became somewhat harder to get, but were easy at launch. This is a tech enthusiast product at a premium price that they can make as many as they want of. I think they wanted to have this hot item (30th anniversary consoles) to drive buzz and free advertising to them and then the people who weren't able to get one will have this other shiny object that is available and buy that. They know there's the die hard consumers who want to have the best that will buy it no matter what and the 30th Anniversary stuff just drove other people to it whether they ended up with the 30th anniversary or the Pro as a potential consolation prize. It's like the Nintendo artificial scarcity stuff, except Sony gave people something else to buy when the other thing sold out.

As an armchair spectator with no data, other than anecdotes of people mostly talking about the grays, and the fact that the pro has sold out no where, I’m still inclined to personally think the opposite though. PS4 Pro launch was a different time, the sharks were not really in the water yet. I would have expected the pro to at least sell out at a few places if it were selling well, or go in and out of stock.

I did pick up in store so that I can get it day of and don't have to worry about somene snagging my package off the porch. Sony is quick shipping. When I ordered the portal from them, I got it 2 days after launch.

Also the original 5 that I ordered from best buy and had shipped came in the original box. Could totally see from a mile away it was a 5. They might have changed their shipping practices now. (and honestly it might have been Amazon, can't recall...and before you say I was snagging all these extra 5s at launch...daughter, 2 sons, and me all got the 5....yes I was extremely lucky. So I can't recall if it was Kohls, Sony, Best Buy, or Amazon that shipped it that way....also I am the only one upgrading..I love my kids but not THAT much)

If you are just selling to random market people I do not think a week is going to make a huge difference. I already lined up my buyer for my original 5. Just put out to my friends...who wants my 5 I just ordered the Pro? Course selling it at a huge discount becuase I like to keep my friends (the two that I have, people are overrated🙃)
 
This is starting to feel a lot like last year at this time with the Portsl. Lot of skepticism, preorders didn’t sell out, then the thing hits and stays out of stock for a few months because everyone suddenly decided they wanted one. Now, they’re certainly not one to one because $200 is much closer to an impulse buy than $700 but I’m certainly reminded how the portal went.

The only PS4 Pro systems that sold out immediately were special editions (Monster Hunter, Spider Man, God of War, 500 Million). There was also a Star Wars Special edition that stayed on shelves for a while, but it eventually sold out. The standard PS4 Pro was always readily available.
