Just got the 30th Anniversary controller off the Best Buy drop, woo. Not for me, but for a buddy of mine who's been trying to get one since they started. :)
 
Didn't get in on the Best Buy drop. For the first couple minutes it didn't give me the option to add to cart. When it finally did, I assume it had already sold out. While I was in line (for something already out of stock), the app logged me out, so that was nice.
 
Apparently the most recent update lets you customize your PS5 theme to be like any of the past consoles, and even has a custom start up (I didn't see it from sleep, so assuming you have to shut down in full) but this is only for a limited time... which is beyond stupid.

Would be cool if this was just the standard on 30th Anni consoles.

Thank you. I was just trying to get a ps 30th anniversary anything even though I already have a ps5 disc console. Came here after striking out on the best buy drop and got myself a ps portal instead! Hope it works well. I got some ps5 games to catch up on and could actually make use of the thing.

Wondering how. That drop was a lie.... fake news.

Had the app on my device. Within a millisecond of the alert I clicked the link. Auto signed in, put me in a queue line, then said sold out. Just like the PS direct drops. Same happened with the subsequent 30th slim console at 7pm EST.

Same I don't recall them being compatible unlike ps4 controllers with the ps3. Even if they are compatible it likely has the same drawbacks as ps4 did for ps3. requiring a ps4 remote to set it up probably cannot access touchpad and such features.

I'm so sorry. You're right. I was mixing up Dualshock 4 working with ps3.

Amazon has been posting them a lot over the last 2 days. I bought and received one yesterday

Just luck I guess. Or I wonder if they're doing preferential treatment based on how much you shop on Best Buy, because I've spent quite a bit there this year.

Or they might have called the out-of-stock notice too soon and put a few back into inventory. I was actually ~2 minutes late to the drop, because I didn't read the instructions beforehand and was scrambling to download the app and sign into it a million times in order for the sign-in to work.
 
Found a guy on OfferUp yesterday selling these brand new sealed for $85. Even the box it comes in is cool. The controller picture on the box is puffed up😁

There should be another sale on PS plus premium and all the other tiers in the spring. That's when I will renew it. Took advantage of the Costco deal so I'm set.
