PlayStation Move - Launching September 19, 2010 (US)
Does anyone know if the PsEye will still work if I use a USB extension cable? I seem to recall that it doesn't (or at least the lights don't turn on). I've got my TV mounted to the wall, and the cables run in to the wall, down to the floor, and back up to my entertainment center. I think the cable may be a little short.

I know i could put it on the TV stand, but I'd rather mount it over the TV.
I've got my eye running through a hub, but my hub has it's own power supply so not sure if that makes a difference.
Demos will be on PSN.
The demo disc just installs the demos on the system like the UK OPM discs.
Excellent. I was about to say... it would be pretty shitty to screw over the idiots who bought the PSEye when it came out (like myself) by excluding us from demos.
I've got my eye running through a hub, but my hub has it's own power supply so not sure if that makes a difference.
Don't think it would make too much of a difference. I'm going to give it a shot at home tonight, since I already have a camera and a cord.
I knda now want to purchase the Move but I dont understand why Sony did not include the seperate joystick thing. I know I could use a dual shock but its just wouldnt be the same imo.
Because Nintendo sells the two separately, people buy it anyways, and like you said it's optional.

"If the business model isn't broke, then don't fix it."
I was under the impression that you can use the DS3 or Sixaxis as the left nav controller.
you can

Adding the navi controller to the Move sets being sold would inflate the cost more when it's truly not needed. Keep in mind that the navi controller will no doubt have super cheap clones out there just like the Wii nunchuk clones. For the time being a DS3 should work just fine.
haha me too.
Me 3, but mine is wall mounted so I'm going to have to run a 10' USB through the wall.

Just received mine from Amazon. I love the feel of the rubber ball on top. Gives me the feeling that if the strap breaks, the controller will bounce off whatever it hits and back into my hand.

Got the move controllers in, and played some Sports Champions. Overall, im really impressed by the hardware. It not only feels just right, everything is basically in a fantastic and ergonomic spot. I like the heft of it as well. Motion control wise, its insanely accurate.

Sports champions is pretty fun itself, i'm sure its a lot better with 2 people but i just played it single player with 2 wands for the time being. The ping pong is so accurate its insane, and since i suck at it in real life, i sucked bad at it in here too.

Quick tip:

When it does the calibration and shows you on screen, you can do all 3 points crazy fast, you dont need to follow the on screen promops. Shoulder, arms down, belt one after another in a quick swift pressing the button each time. I can do it in a second at this point, its so easy. Im downloading a ton of Move demos from my UK psn account right now, excited to try it all out.

OK, so let's hear some thoughts, reactions, reviews, impressions from those of you with the Move. I'm on the fence with it; on one hand the thought of potentially playing a real golf simulator sounds awesome, but then I remember how awesome the Wii sounded and that thing has collected more dust than Tiger Woods' porn collection.

The controllers come with a dead battery, how long did you wait for them to charge to start playing? /glances at his flashing red on the charge station.

Edit: FYI you're required to install the demo's that come with the bundle, most of which are at least a gig in size a piece. Have to wait for the controllers to charge anyhow, so oh well. =)

I kind of regret selling Heavy Rain after I finished it... but I'm on the fence about Move - & I can't wait to read what some of you guys think of it. I am afraid the Move controllers will go the way of my dust-collecting Wii controllers. :whistle2:/ In addition, I will probably have to relocate soon and I'm afraid of ending up with a much smaller living room and no room to "Move" in. haha

I'll be using this in a fairly small office, so I'll let you know how it goes today.

I already have the PS Eye, so all I need is the Playstation Move controller, right? Is the top ball clear and an led changes the color of it, or are there actually different color balls on top?

No games I want yet, but I'm going to get it eventually.. plus there's demos on the PSN, right? I could just rent the games from Gamefly..

The ball is white when off and changes colors during games depending on what's happening. And yeah all you'd really need is the Move controller. Though a second one, as well as a navi controller are recommended for many games.

Picked up mine this morning. I am playing in a fairly low amount amount of space due to the size of my couch, coffee table etc and the PSEye has no trouble fitting me in and following the motions.

My Move controllers actually came with a 2/3 charge, not a dead battery, just like the DS3 controllers. You can also play fairly easily while having them plugged in.

So far I have only played Sports Champion. Impressions on each below.

Ping Pong - Absolutely perfect. I put many hours into Wii Sports Ping Pong but always felt it was limited. This knocks it out of the park. Perfect tracking even when I try to do weird moves like underhand hitting, hitting with the edge of the paddle, etc. Spins are also incredibly accurate and if you are used to playing IRL and shooting for the edges this has responded perfectly every single time to the shot I was trying to make. The computer opponents are extremely easy at first, to the point of stupidity at some points so I hope that at least gets better as it moves along.

Archery - This is the one game that I have a small issue with. The arm tracking is perfect when reaching for the arrow, pulling back things like that. What I am having a problem with is that in order to aim towards the center of the area, i seem to have to hold the second Move controller insanely high. For example if I hold my Controller straight at the middle of the screen, my on screen aim reticule is pointed straight into the dirt.

Bocce - Only played little on the basic mode. Good control. Very accurate power reading when throwing.

Disc Golf - Perfect as well from the first two rounds I played. Sidearm, overhand, underhand all track perfectly. Curving the disc working great as well. Even tracked an over head then underhand (all in one motion) throw that I made without any issue at all.

Dueling - Works quite well. Blocking with the shield, parrying with the weapon all track well. Swing match well whether sidearm, overhead, underhand, angled etc. The jumping attack I did have a hard time getting to pull off though. Also if you attack and are blocked it does take a second for the weapon to catch back up to your stance after the recoil.

Volleyball - ehh .. not really interested and did not play yet.

Overall it does have a very Wii'ish feel using the point reticule on menus and such; however it feels like using maybe a much more advanced version. The controls are smoother and track much better. Controllers feel better as well. I'm not sure how long I will play Sports Champion outside of the Ping Pong mode, but as for Move on the hardware front I believe it has lived up to exactly what Sony said it would be.

Now if they would just hurry up with Sorcery.

P.S. I tried in both low light and sunlight through the windows in addition to my normal light and did not have a problem with any lighting situation.
Great ping pong impressions!

@raistlin:
Onyx?
I either forgot or didn't know you were a cag member.
Hiya's! Been a member for quite some time now actually. LoL I started the Move poll to see who was planning on buying this hardware. :)

On a side note: If you're an older gamer & a couch potato your feet will start to hurt after playing Sport Champions for a while.

Do you have to stand up to play this? I ask because I can't stand up for that long anymore. I'd rather sit on my couch if possible.

With Sports Champions I'd think it would be hard to collaborate the controllers if you're not standing. (It tracks full body movement) But with the demos I've played such as start the party and eyepet you'll be able to sit down.

So games requiring full motion such as gulf etc may prove difficult, but FPS games such as Socom should be fine.

Maybe this isn't the right thread, but just wondering if anyone has any anecdotal reports of how Move is selling in their local stores?
did they change the date for this for two days
I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking....but...
Early on some misinformed outlets were saying the release date was going to be on the 19th. But it's been set for the Sept 17th for months now.

Hey guys!
Does anyone know where you can get a PAL Playstation Move starter demo disc for free? i would like the disc packaged in the plastic case. I'm only asking cause i'm getting a playstation move controller soon, not the starter kit as i already have a PS Eye!

Every game on the demo disc worked great for me except for the TV game and Echochrome 2. I cannot get those two games to calibrate at all. And I am not talking about some small details. Like the cursor will just be going crazy in the corner of the screen and will only move and and down.. but down when I move up and up when I move down.

There is already quite a few demo's for a Move on PSN that you can download. So it's not really necessary.

That's odd I haven't had any collaboration problems thus far on any games. In fact I'm not even playing the distance away from the screen that is recommended, I'm quite a bit closer. Also on a side note, I found Kung Fu Rider isn't nearly as difficult to control IMO as some reviewers made it out to be.

Picked up a bundle for $85 w/ free shipping before tax from Gamestop using codes TGS and SAVER.

I was going to wait till Black Friday sale, but $15 is likely as good as it's going to get for this holiday season.

Now if only I could find the time to actually play with it...

Just finished the first tier of volleyball on sports champions and got a bronze medal! What a blast..reminds me of my days of school playing. I hope the next iteration of this game has online play.

If you are having calibration problems in game, hold select and start at the same time on the move controllers. It will popup with a instant re-calibration. Ive only had to do it once in a 4 hour game time, and it was because i sat down and went back up multiple times in archery. Archery wants your 2nd hand to pull back your chest, not your head, it makes a huge difference.

Still not sure how i feel about the technology. I played Tumble, the Eyepet demo, and some Gladiator and Archery. The control hardware is so different than the wiimote, and as a result, they respond differently. Not having a direct pointer is kind of strange to me, and it makes the calibration seem kind of arbitrary. I guess I'll adjust, and it'll get better with time. It's just something I'm noticing.

My calibration issues actually did turn out to be due to lighting. There was a bright sun spot on the wall behind me and apparently those two are a bit more sensitive than the others. Calibrated fine now.

I haven't had any calibration issues, but my camera pictures look like crap. I tried the TV Superstar demo, and my face looked purple, and the video on EyePet was so splotchy and discolored it was hard to really accept the concept.

I've got 2 lamps on either side of my TV, and an overhead light that can be adjusted to 3 levels of brightness, and no combination of lighting has really solved the issues.
Lens dirty? Is it zoomed in?
It's set to blue. I've had a camera for a long time- and I don't use it. I thought maybe it was just busted from falling off the back of my tv so many times. I switched to the new one that came in my bundle (i planned on using in my bedroom), and it looked the same.

my controllers from house party should be arriving tomorrow o_O
too bad it comes with eyepet and the party one.... wanted sports champions D:!
I might just go buy that tomorrow :D
Well it's the Move that is new, not the camera. It's the same grainy as crap webcam that came out in 2007. :D
I was planning on bringing that up earlier but didn't get around to it today.

I kinda wish they would have just created a new higher quality camera for this. For $50 extra bucks we could all be having an even better experience. Course, given most of us are cheapassgamers...lots would have complained about having to upgrade.

So besides the bundled Sports Champions, what are the other "must have" Move titles? I'm on the fence about this, SC seems cool from what you all are saying, and a second Move playthrough of Heavy Rain sounds great, but will this collect dust by Christmas?

By Christmas? Yes, most likely.

But then KZ2, SOCOM 4, and Dead Space 2 w/ Dead Space: Extraction come out in the first quarter of next year. So rest up while you still can!

Oh, and I'm excited about the Time Crisis: Razing Storm game collection that comes out in October. 3 games for $50 (and $10 Amazon GC)? Yes, please!
