Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team DS or GBA

There isn't a Blue Rescue Team for the GBA, the Blue Rescue Team game is only for the DS. Just like Red Rescue Team is only for the GBA.

They are pretty much the same.. the only differences on the DS are that it uses the top screen for stats, a map, that sort of thing.

There are unique pokemon in each one but, from reading on serebii.net, you find a code in red which enables you to unlock the pokemon in blue.

I'm going for the DS version, there is no reason to own both and the DS version is superior imo just because of the second screen. Really a shame Nintendo didn't do something where if you had the DS version and the GBA version in at the same time for a DS, you unlock something awesome. Oh well, saves me money.

anyone know how long the game last

Dont know to buy it from best buy for around 23 after price match

or rent it off gamefly

If it can be beat in less then 20 hours no reason to buy

Its only $23.99 at Circuit City this week......Im not sure If I want to get it.....maybe if it gets rave reviews.

Get the DS version if you have a DS. If you only have a GBA get the GBA one. The DS one has the extra features of the top screenm & if you have the older Pokemons in the GBA slot you unlock stuff.
if you have the older Pokemons in the GBA slot you unlock stuff.
Wait. Where did you hear this? I was wondering if that would be the case. Can we get a confirmation on this?

Nope, Im just smoking crack. I thoguth I read you could...but can not confirm.
Anyone pick this up and is there any reviews on it?
CC won't have it in until 5 pm, or so the ad says... there are alot of great DS games hitting soon and I want to read some reviews to get a feel for the game before I go get it.

But yea, nobody has reviewed it yet, which sucks because IGN has already reviewed Dragon Quest Rocket Slime.

Here's a 1up review, they gave it an 85% -

I got it and have been playing for a couple hours. The battle controls definitely take some getting used to, but the control scheme is actually quite nice when you get used to it. The dialogue is well written and the animations are nice. On the downside, anyone hoping for traditional turn-based Pokemon gameplay will feel disappointed. It's much more of an action RPG, but it's still fun. I'd give it an 8.5/10.

I wound up being Pikachu (which is awesome because Raichu is my all time favorite Pokemon next to Zangoose). Chikorita is my partner. Together, we're Rescue Team Tough Guys! Does anyone know of a guide online that will tell you what answers to give during the begining to get specific starters?

i need a rescue if anyone can help out. i'm around in 9F of the great canyon if that helps. it's not all that tough but i didn't know i couldn't let my partner faint. i thought i could just go on and revive him later.

How old are most of you playing this game? I'm 22 and the thought of playing a pokemon seems childish. I did enjoy playing Yellow for GB Color and wouldn't mind playing another pokemon game again. Let me know if It's a decent pick up or not.

I'm 24. I own Pokemon Pinball, Sapphire, Colliseum, and I have LeafGreen on the way. I'm looking forward to picking up the new DS game as soon as I can afford it. They're good games, I wouldn't let the cutesy aspect turn you away from fun :)

I'm 20 and I'm still planning to get pokemon pearl. Rescue Dungeon is surprisingly articulate. Almost reminds me of the intro to Kingdom Hearts Intro where you choose your path. Its still very childish when it comes to battling, but now it like an action RPG.you're moving around while you're attacking. It's easy in the beginning, but This could get more challenging as you progress through the game.

I would definately reccomend this game if you've been a pokemon fan since the beginning.

Yea I saw footage on the battling. It looked like you walk into the enemy and they just start break dance fighting. Do you have to push any buttons to make them do there moves?

Yes actually you do. You can press the A button to do a pre-emptive attack when you confront an enemy. Then you can press B to choose other attack.

I'm 27 and this will be my first Pokemon game. Hopefully it takes awhile to complete, because I want this to last til' around Final Fantasy 3's release. I just called Gamestop's corp office and they won't pricematch Circuit City's price. I was hoping they would, so I could use some credit. Oh well, I'll go tonight after class and pick it up at Circuit City.

Mystery Dungeon isn't a typical Pokemon game. It's more like Nethack, but with Pokemon characters. I'm loving the gameplay so far, since it seems to be faithful to nethack, except that your "pet" pokemon doesn't eat the corpses of defeated pokemon, like how your pets do in real nethack =(

The only complaint I have so far is that the UI is AWFUL. I'm playing the DS version and it seems like they just slapped on DS functionality at the end.

The top screen, instead of half of it used for a message log and half of it for party stats, by default only shows party stats. The dungeon map, if you want to see it at all is overlayed on top of the bottom screen, which is also where the action takes place, so it gets so busy there.

I wish they would just add in a toggle for the dungeon map with one of the unused buttons.

This game is really not what I expected, but I must say....it is pretty dam good so far. Not far into it yet, but I can feel the gotta collect 'em all all over again :)

I'm 30 years old and have been a Pokemon fan from the beginning. I'm loving the different approach this game offers to the Pokemon formula.
I believe it got an 8.5 from IGN.
Not even close. 6.5. Man, the reviews for this game are awful so far. Obviously Nintendo didn't pay up.

http://ds.ign.com/articles/733/733777p1.html

It's a really solid game so far. Sure, it doesn't look great and the controls take some getting used to, but this is turning into another reason I don't pay attention to the mainstream gaming press more then I have to.

From reading the review, it seems IGN is *already* bitching about how the game dosen't take full advantage of the DS. Not every game needs to have a bajillion touch screen uses and mandatory second screen periphals.

I know they knocked on Mega Man ZX for this and slammed Harvest Moon as well, that games on the DS aren't taking "full advantage" of the system and "could be done on the GBA". Who cares???

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow took advantage of the system and we got some bullshit seal drawing that was out of place and stupid. I'd rather games add in DS functionality ONLY when it's useful, not because they feel they HAVE to.

If only more developers and reviewers agreed. :(

I actually really want to play this. Hopefully I can pick it up later on in the week.

I know, right? When touch screen gets shoe-horned into a game we end up with something like Star Fox where we don't have any other control options. I don't care if D-pad control apparently sucked. I'd want it simply to try out for the sharper turns.

Wait whats that mean?

If you die in a dungeon, but don't want to start over in town and lose your loot, you can send an SOS message out. Basically, it's a really long password that you give to a friend who has that game. They type the password in, and the dungeon you're in is generated for them. They have to go to the floor you're on fight off the pokemon and rescue you. When they rescue you, they're given an A-OK or Rescue password, which they will in turn give to you. You type that password out into your game, and then you've been rescued.

That is pretty unique, maybe they will implement something similiar for Diamond and Pearl, but except having to use a bunch of passwords, maybe it can all be done over Wifi.
this game is great, i can't believe no one else is playing this.
I got it, not too far into it but I can't really seem to get into it. It just seems like it's going to be a lot of text and not much action. I've heard a lot of people say it's a lot of fun but I don't know, maybe I just need to play more of it. I just got done saving Magnemite from a cave. It seems sort of repetitive and much like a chore. Are you enjoying it? How long does it take to really start getting interesting?

Got the GBA version and my wife is playing the DS version. Personally I would have preferred to use the DS version, just cause it has the sweet feauture of closing your DS go to sleep mode >.> (she got the DS cause she likes blue and well I like red)

I'm Charmander leader of Team Crimson Ice with Squirtle as my partner.

My wife is a Torchic with Mudkip as her partner. So far it's quite an entertaining game to keep me busy for a good amount of time.

Too many good DS games out all at once

I would have gotten it but Dragon Quest Rocket Slime this week and Mario vs DK 2 next week means I'm gonna hold off for awhile.

What are the battles like? Is it menu turn based (Final Fantasy) or action RPG (Diablo, Secret of Mana)? I already have a few turn based RPGs I havent finished on the DS but would be interested in this if it was more Diablo, Dungeon crawler style.

It's both. you walk around, run into enemies, and attack. It's turn based, but you can walk around while attacking.
