I've been using the GTS, but I wouldn't mind trading with CAG members. I got a ditto in my day care so I could give out starters for those who want them, plus it would be nice to have someone reliable to get to trade evolutions. 

 
I haven't really played Pokemon since Red. Are we supposed to try to catch at least one of everything, or is just seeing them enough?

My starter is a female Froakie. I would be happy to trade eggs once I get far enough. I just finished the first gym.

I can't seem to find an Abra for the life of me. I read online that it pops up on route 5, but I've been pacing all over and have only seen Skiddos, Pluses, and hordes of those yucky green things.

Am I missing something? I haven't played a Pokemon game since Silver so maybe there's new mechanics I am just not aware of.

Yup, it's on Route 5 for sure. I had one popped up, but just once. I tried catching the sucker with the only great ball I had, but it was not to be. I think it's the rarest Pokemon on Route 5, so you may have better luck looking elsewhere, I just don't know where.

As for CAG, I'll see if i start up a trade topic in this very forum later tonight.

Once I get fly I'm headed back that way to get more Scatterbugs. I'll see if I can pick you up an Abra. I kept running into those flightly little bastards like crazy and I managed to catch mine with just a great ball.

 
I saw one Abra on my first time through route 5 but I was ill prepared for my encounter with only regular pokeballs and thus he teleported away.

 
Thanks for all the help and advice fellas. After 90 minutes of running around I finally found the elusive bugger. I chucked a Net ball at it, and fortunately, caught it in one go. My favorite Pokemon has always been Allakhazam, so I'm pretty pumped!

For the purposes of progressing through the game, seeing is enough.

But, this IS Pokemon, and there is a reason they have trading as a major aspect.

You can find one in Santalune Forest near the beginning of the game, but it has a pretty low appearance rate. I actually found one myself (I believe) just outside of the forest, whatever that route is called.

On a side note, I'm only a little past the first gym, but I thought it was clever how the first gym leader (bug types) is a shutterbug herself.

After I got one, that was the main Pokemon I saw, may have had something to do with Pikachu in my party?

There were a ton though, if you don't get one in a day or so, I think I have an extra.

Just got to the daycare. Leveling feels way faster and easier than past pokemon games. Current party is around 23 while wild pokemon are around 12. I am liking the game so far (more so than black/white).

I suggest turning exp share off except for when doing gyms if it's getting too easy at some point for you; if you care that is.

Thanks for the feedback. I noticed that seeing will add to your pokedex but most of the details are left as ???'s. Guess I will be catching at least one of each ^^

I'm now soft resetting until I get
a female Charmander from the prof.

Anyone got suggestions of a good pokemon that has false swipe? Me losing a female combee last night and then not seeing one for 20 minutes has me wanting to make catching as easy as possible.

 
Got myself a female Froakie. Don't know a thing about breeding so we will see once I get to the daycare.

Would love to get my hands on a ghastly, if anyone wants to help.

You can use a Smeargle and have it learn Sleep Powder/Spore and False Swipe. I actually prefer using a Paras now because it can learn Spore through leveling (100% accuracy sleep) and you can teach it False Swipe through a TM. Also Paras can take hits better than Smeargale. Paras cant be caught until postgame but I had no problems trading for one on the GTS. If you cant find one I can breed you one later.

Love paras from the original (red/blue), only drawback was that he was slow as heck.

I just beat the 4th gym the other night.  I have been taking my time with the game by trying to catch all of the Pokemon and doing some evolving.  I have actually been swapping out my team quite abit to keep the game challenging.

Same. Beat the 4th gym and now I'm off to deal with Team Flare, I guess. Everyone I know keeps making fun of me for taking so long but whatevs.

I'm like you. I think I put about 10-11 hours in and I've only beaten the 2nd gym. I'm disregarding what everyone says and just taking my time with it!

 
lol I'm still not even to the second gym yet and I've got almost 14 hours in. Between all the wonder trades and my quest to try and capture every Pokemon, it's hard to concentrate just on the story.

Give him the quick claw (sp?) to hold, you get it fairly quick in the game

With this new EXP Share that gives experience to all Pokemon opposed to just the one holding the item like the old days...what is better if you're trying to level a weak one? Do the old use weak one first then swap it out for a better one to kill off the enemy trick like we've done forever or does the new EXP Share make it so you can just use a strong one without ever having to do this? I assume if you want better exp you should still use the old method by using weak first then switching it out but wasn't sure how good the new EXP Share is when it came to the experience distribution.

100% exp for ones in battle while 50% for the others who didn't do battle.

 
So my pokemon got infected with pokerus...

The fuck is this shit? This is the first pokemon game ive had since gold/silver...

Upon googling, says its rarer than a shiney...

Willing to trade an infected pokerus for a female fennekin, and or any of the starting pokemon from gen 6 and gen 1 that are female!

loving this game so far. is axew any good? i want to have an all dragon team eventually, but i'm thinking of running him in my main party. also, whats the benefit to stopping a pokemon from evolving?
 
I need a 6th Pokemon for when I take on the Elite 4 and beyond to replace my HM Whore. So far I have:

Greninja Level 72

Blaziken/MegaBlaziken Level 74

Venusaur/MegaVenusaur Level 71

Aurorus Level 69

Garchomp Level 60

I have a Raichu around 55, but I dropped him since Aurorus knows Thunderbolt. I still haven't even made to Snowbelle City so These levels will no doubt rise. I kinda want a psychic, but I dunno.

Greninja can learn Extrasensory.

I use Pangoro and Aegislash, which are awesome.
 
Pangoro sounds nice and looks awesome. I might also evolve the new Psychic/Dragon bat thing, even though it's got a terrible design.
