no, if it doesn't fit then they will back charge you or the recipient additional postage for a regular priority mail box. but most likely the back charge will be either nothing or a few cents more depending on weight.. same goes for flat rate envelopes. if you start to modify the packaging then its not really a flat rate anymore. just send it first class (make sure its under 13oz) with a delivery conformation. its cheaper, just as fast (2-5 business days) and you don't have to worry about being back charged. hope i helped

I've never had a problem either. I've even taken one to the Post Office cause it was bulging out a little, and the post master said as long as it closes without my modifying it, it was fine.
But then you get some a-holes, like the one that charged a buyer for $26.xx extra because the DVD case was a special edition, and cases aren't supposed to be covered by media mail.... What BS. It was only 7~8 pounds, but they rose it to priority instead of parcel post. I was pissed.

I ship games in flat rate priority envelopes with no problems. You can even wrap the case in bubble wrap and the game will fit just fine. Just an idea if you can't fit it in the flat rate boxes, plus it is 5 cents cheaper. 
The box will close normally barely, but I don't think the included glue will hold it by itself due to the pressure on the flaps to open because the game is basically the same exact width as the box. I am not sure how some of you guys have no problems with it. Which is why I am wondering if I can tape it myself or do I need special Priority Mail Tape. Glockglock how thick can the envelopes be and still be shipped?

I usually do use 1st class but I don't have any more small boxes.

If you applied a ton of some sort of stickers then maybe you can tape it.

It doesn't list a max thickness on the USPS site. This is what it says when you click on the info button there about thickness:
I ship games all the time like this and nobody has ever looked twice at it. I wrap the case all the way around with some thin bubble wrap. The top flap folds with no issue on the normal fold lines. I usually add some tape on the edges to keep it sealed. Packed this way a game is usually under 1" in thickness.

Thanks. I also found the answer to my question about the tape because I had previously overlooked the last paragraph because I thought it was about international as well. For flat rate boxes

May try using it just a little concerned that the thing will open up on me.

I never have problems with those flat rate boxes...thats how I ship everything eBay...I find it disrespectful and stupid on the sellers part to not provide a tracking number (standard with flat rate)...becuz hey..you cant track it...you cant prove you sent it
