Just for anyone that is curious about the difference between the Rice Digital Muv-Luv CE sets, compared to the KS versions, I just got a response that made it clear the KS CE will be far superior,

"We can't fully disclose this yet, but rest assured the Rice Digital Limited Editions are totally different, and its "extra" item(s) aren't even close to the value of a single exclusive item that's included in the backer's collector's box. Even the digital versions are significantly cheaper in Kickstarter."

So that restores my faith in backing the KS version a little bit at least. ;D

Glad to hear it, thanks for taking the time to reach out and share the response!

That's good to hear, but I have to raise an eyebrow at the "aren't even close to the value of a single exclusive item" bit.
I'm guessing they're referring to the "Sumika Figma", but I'm not sure if that's exclusive. Rice Digital's shipping costs are ridiculous anyway so I would have never considered buying it there anyway.

I just hope Rice Digital packs the Kickstarter items carefully with a lot of protection. I remember hearing some bad stories on getting damaged items from them since they ship overseas and apparently didn't pack things well.

What? Rice Digital has nothing to do with the Kickstarter or shipping Kickstarter items. I think the shipping is all handled by IXTL. The production is handled by PQube.

That being said, yeah Rice Digital doesn't pack things well and their shipping is expensive/overpriced so I'll probably never buy anything from them again.

I was under the impression Rice was handling the distribution of the Kickstarter items, kind of like LRG did with Plague Road and will do for a few other upcoming titles. My mistake then. Glad to hear they are not.

Same here, I haven't bought anything from them in years, and have no plans to go back.

When that last email was sent stating Rice was getting the retail exclusive version, many here, including myself feared the worst. It has been stated that IXTL is supposed to be handling it, but I'm not sure if that was confirmed or not.

According to Best Buy, the release date for Velocity 2X : Critical Mass Edition has been bumped yet again, this time to March 20th from the previously bumped date of March 6th. Starting to wonder what's going on with this release.

That's good to hear, but I have to raise an eyebrow at the "aren't even close to the value of a single exclusive item" bit.
I should hope not! I'd be a little deterred if my $150.00 (not including shipping) KickStarter Backer Exclusive Boxed Collector's Edition wasn't as nice as a lower priced general release CE. And in addition to the CE, those who pledged enough or more to get the CE are also getting stretch goal bonus items, which include.:

  • Master OST Collection on DVD
  • KS Backer Only Artbook
  • And correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think we also get a Figma model of one of the mecha from the Alternative series too?
Granted I have to this day not seen a PQube CE/LE release in person, but seems they get a lot of complaints about the quality of their artboxes due to using flimsy cardstock instead of a corrugated or chipboard material.

No, this was already disclosed in either a Tweet or a recent KS update (to lazy to hunt a link for you) that the games, once manufactured have to be shipped to the TOM (Tokyo Otaku Mode) warehouse in Japan where final packaging and distribution of the KickStarter rewards will take take place from.

The Kickstarter CE is by far the superior version imo. I highly doubt Rice Digital can match anything the Kickstarter version has purely based on the value being offered.

For one thing, PQube/Rice is only handling the Vita carts of Muv Luv. That's it. Shipping will be handled by Tokyo Otaku Mode and from what I heard, their shipping is top notch. Shipping was only $5 for the West. If you were to get it from PQube/Rice, shipping will cost a lot more.

Kickstarter Version is all this (this includes stretch goals)

Christmas-2017-Artworks-Digital
1 Director's Cut Patch
1 Muv-Luv Alternative CODEX (Digital)
1 Muv-Luv Alternative Vita Digital Copy
1 Muv-Luv Photonflowers and Photonmelodies PC Digital Copy
1 Muv-Luv Trilogy Collector's Box (Muv-Luv Japanese Team Printed Signatures on Mini-Shikishi) with physical PS Vita Cartridges, physical+digital Artbook, physical+digital OST
1 Muv-Luv Trilogy Digital Bundle PC
1 Muv-Luv Vita Digital Copy
1 Sumika Figma (They gave this to the Early Backers and this goes for around 60 bucks itself)

I thought it was digital just for PC or Vita

The Vita version was a stretch goal. The $150 CE includes all the Stretch Goals. That is why we're also getting the Codex (Digital) and Photonmelodies/Flowers as well. The Figma was included as thank you gift because the Campaign went over 1 million dollars.

I would just like to note that I was charged $25.00 for S&H to the continental U.S.A.

thats strange. In my Backerkit, it says $5 for US and CA while it is $10 for everywhere else for stuff below 200. After that is $10 for 200+

Okay, I had to go back to BackerKit to figure this out. It was my mistake, I documented what I had paid incorrectly, S&H was indeed billed at $5.00.

I think you missed what I was saying. Their response said that the items in
the Rice Special edition aren't even close to the value of ONE item in the KS one.

As in the entire contents of the Rice special edition would have less value than just the patch from the KS one.

So LameStop messed up my order and gave me the PS4 version of Secret of Mana instead of the Vita version. When I tried to exchange it, I was told that the Vita version was delayed and is DLC code only. Anyone know what is going on?

You're kidding, right? Haha. The only North American physical version is for PS4. That's all there has ever been.

Feel free to ignore all the non-Vita stuff.

Only about four minutes remain until the LRG sale begins!

"Revenant Saga", "Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD", and "Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD: Collector's Edition" go on sale today from Limited Run Games.

Round one of the sale begins at 10:00a.m. EST (GMT -5).
Round two of the sale will begin at 6:00p.m. EST (GMT -5).
https://www.limitedrungames.com/

So the real question is, will they actually begin shipping them out on Wednesday, or is this yet another instance of they'll print the shipping label on Wednesday and not hand the packages over to the postal service until next week Monday?

Probably the latter. You know how it is.

They shouldve started packaging them immediately. imo

I'll believe it when I see it on my porch or stuffed in my mailbox. I wonder how many people cancelled their order in the past year? I assume they will have plenty of extras they'll have to get rid of sometime.

LRG doesn't let people cancel orders, so unless people did Charebacks or PayPal disputes they couldn't cancel their purchase. There are bound to be extras, though, as LRG always makes more in order to cover for damaged units. If they don't get sent out in order to cover damaged units, they'll likely be in Blind boxes, giveaways, conventions, or other general liquidating events.

Unless things have changed, LRG does plan on listing up the extras after they ship everyone's orders at some point
Yeah, this was the last plan I heard as well.

I hope they LRG never do the same preorder style that they used for Skullgrils
I'm pretty sure they have sworn that particular way off, although they are still open to pre-orders, just not ones done in that manner(or any where the delay may be to great). I'm sure for the right game they might make an exception, but I doubt it will happen again anytime soon.

Isn’t that their business model?!? I don’t think they ever have anything on hand when their stuff goes up.
They do have stuff on hand every once in awhile, but it's for sure the exception, and not the rule. As more often than not an item for sure needs to arrive, and those times vary by weeks up to a moth or more.

I thought they always used to have the games on hand, then last summer when production in general was getting clogged for fall releases, LRG releases were getting pushed out of the way to get bigger commercial releases done?

That was mostly on the run up to the holidays, as retail items are taking priority over mostly old digital titles. A lot of their games have to be sold by a certain time, and I'm sure that is where the hold up comes from. So if one of those games comes to the top of the pile, that means it needs to be sold by today, only to have production just start due to having to offer it under the gun. I can only imagine what the logistics of all this must look like behind the scenes.

Yeah, they should leave the kickstarter type preorders to kickstarter.

Isn’t that their business model?!? I don’t think they ever have anything on hand when their stuff goes up.
That was their motto to not sell stuff until it was on hand during their first year or so in business. They repeated it every time that someone mentioned wanting a preorder option. These days almost nothing is ready during the launch day because they are hitting the wall on their own contracts to sell the games by a certain date. It's funny that intially they didn't want to do pre-orders and fought against the idea, now most games are technically... a preorder.

I hope they do that for Switch releases. This why I won't see a limited number like 3,000 and decide I need yet another copy of Saturday Morning RPG and can instead buy games I actually plan on playing.
