Damn almost missed that P3P sale. I already own FES on PS3 but its way too hard for me. Hit a wall around August in game and didn't want to grind. Picked up P4G and loved it, at September and U really dig the easy mode. I hear P3P has a very easy mode so I'll play that for story

Yep...it does. Seemed a bit harder than Persona 4 Golden's very easy mode, but still pretty easy and grind-free. Good option for those who are in it for the story/social link stuff more than the dungeons.

Is the music, like in the dorm, school, tartarus and such mostly the same in P3P as FES?
It's the same composer, so he uses a similar style of music for the entire series. If you're familiar with his music in one game, you'll easily be able to tell which Persona/SMT games' soundtracks that he has composed.

I would do anything for Atlus to make a Persona 3: Platinum that had all the content of FES and all of the gameplay improvements and added content of P3P.

What I genuinely want to know is who finished P4G (true ending) WITHOUT a guide. Haha, of course it's entirely possible but would require some serious luck. P3P have the same kind of "conditions" that need to be met in order to unlock parts of the story?

Played a good deal of Ghosts this morning. I say this every year but I am truly done with this series if they don't bring something new with Advanced Warfare. Ghosts is so damn dull. And the MP maps are garbage. It's no wonder I hardly play. I still say Trreyarch are the better dev team. Last CoD I really had fun with is Black Ops.

So does Persona 3: FES and many people still prefer P3P. You were saying yourself that many people consider The After Years iffy.
I still said it was the best version out there, which is mainly due to the great visuals and extra content. The extra stuff might not be great for everyone since nostalgia can play a huge factor, though I haven't seen if there are any major battle system changes or anything like that that could explain the response to it. This suggests that it has some of the added content/features of the GBA and DS versions along with bonuses of its own.

Persona 3 FES and P3P have big gameplay changes and platform differences that causes the rift, so that's more down to personal preferences.

Almost flipped my Vita into my bowl of chashu ramen while playing the motion levels of Metrico.

As much as I enjoy the mathematics atmosphere, fuck this game.

Frisky, you posted thoughts on Road Not Taken yet? Affa seems to be the only one here who's tried it. Played it for the first time this morning. What a WEIRD fucking game haha, but I think I actually like it. Made it to year 3 and quit out. I can see the potential for it getting hard but so far it's been pretty straightforward. Only thing I'm confused about is whether we can craft items. I have a bunch of stuff just sitting in my inventory.

craft items by moving objects next to each other. Stuff in inventory is for giving to npcs to make friends with um.

That's what that part of Metrico requires since its platforms are based on the accelerometer moving fast enough to let you get across the chasm.
Thanks Frisky, your advice helped a little. At least I'm not playing in public, I like like an idiot flipping my Vita like a helicopter while somehow managing to keep my eyes on the screen and hands on X for a jump.

has FFVII gone lower than $5 before? I passed on it last time there was a sale but wondering if i should get it now. Alread got IX and the other ones i wanted. Just missing VII and VIII (though i'll pass on VIII probabl cuz it sucks)

I'm torn on which Tactics to get. I'm leaning toward the PSP one though. I've never played it or that style game.
The PSP version has 2 more jobs, several more levels levels, 2 more unique characters (even if they are clones of existing characters), and a few extra plot scenes thrown in for good measure. It's the better game. It does have a some slowdown, but you probably won't notice unless you played the original.

The spit comes down to the Retranslation, because it always comes down to the retranslation (see also: Chrono Trigger). The PS1 version had a terrible translation but it had it's charm, the PSP translation is superior but overly wordy and flowery to some. And the one thing the PS1 version has over the PSP version are the Spell Quotes, which were entirely removed from the PSP version. Every so often when using a spell or skill a unit would give a little incantation ("Strip away the ground with glistening blades! Bolt!"), it was really cool and a shame that it was removed.

EDIT: They also changed some of the limes that went memetic which always irks some people, and respelled almost everyone's name so be prepared to fight over whether "Orlandu" or "Orlandeau" is superior.

If you're playing Persona 3 for the 1st time, do not play P3P over FES!!

You are robbing yourselves so much of the experience. The story/presentation of FES is what makes the game so special. It really takes you on a ride, with P3P you are basically just reading about what's happening while looking at still images of their faces.

You should play as an actual player not as

Ya, I had to use a guide to figure out the crucial conversation in P4G after getting bad endings 2 or 3 times and giving up.

But no...I think P3P only has two endings, and the difference between the two comes down to a very obvious choice you're given.

I had completely forgotten about the spell quotes though, I admit, it has been forever since I played the PS1 version of Tactics.

I love the translation on the PSP version.

I played through 2 careers yesterday. There are a few glitches in the game that really are annoying. Obvious slowdown in some rooms, unresponsive controls, etc take away from the experience. These are such obvious bugs that I expect them to be fixed in a patch soon. Other than that, you have a very unique puzzle game that is rogue like in a way in that it doesn't hold your hand and you learn by experimenting and dying. Some of the achievements look really tough, but it has been a lot of fun. I think the game would be great on the vita if they can work the bugs out.

Still on the fence on getting Chrono Trigger, its a great game but I played it to death back when it came out on the SNES so I am just thinking of just buying it just to own it.

I did that with FF7-FF9....so I know those feels. Will I play them...yeah probably someday, not anytime soon though.

It gets hard imo. As Frisky said, you give the items to people to increase friendship, which results in gifts and other stuff. There are also some in dungeon things to do with them, such as tribute and more people to meet.

I haven't had much time to play lately (nearly done my wolfenstein playthrough, awesome game) but can't wait to get back to Road Not taken.

The items in your inventory are basically perks that offer bonuses to your skills. The other stuff (coins, rice, etc.) are currency to spend or give to friends to boost your relationship with them. As others have probably said, the crafting is more the ability to combine items that you put next to each other in the forest, as you fill up a recipe book by bumping into objects out there.

Some how in my entire life I've never played any final Fantasy games... Ever. Since I just bought a cheap psp last week I ended up buying the entire collection plus the chrono games. I was always more of a dragon warrior guy, but I have some time between semesters and $5 seemed fair for games I have intended to play for several years. Now not owning them isn't an excuse.
Going to play them in chronological order, but only own 1 and 2 on Android and 3 on ds, so we'll see how the transition compares for a newbie between all three platforms

I can understand why people prefer direct control over party members in P3, but I had zero problems with auto because I gained initiative on every normal battle. That gives a full round to kill (or at least knock down) all the enemies or decide to escape with 100% success. Granted, it made Tartarus even more of a slog timewise, but it also made the bosses really easy to beat because I chose to only fight enemy groups that gave out the most XP (all finished battles add to party fatigue but escaping didn't seem to), so my party was never underpowered.

I played P4 and thought it was just alright, and blogged about it on the previous version of CAG. People sometimes say P4's characters are more "relatable." I say they're "we like to hang out at the Japanese version of Super Walmart" boring.

I'll probably play the future Personas on Easy because despite being awesome at the dungeons, I didn't have fun going through them at all.

If you have a DS, get it for that instead. I can't stress enough how bad the PS1 port of the game was.

The ps1 version really doesn't bother me on vita. I have fast loading turned on, it's an acceptable play. I'm sure the DS version is better, but it's far from unplayable and I'd actually (personally) rather play it on my vita (for the sale I got it during) than shell out for the ds version and (never) play it on my 3ds.

I may buy Tiger and bunny movie at that price, I wish that viz would bring the second movie over.  I may also get Iron Giant (I have it on dvd, actually, I take it back, I'm gonna buy the vudu version of it.  (have dvd so only a $5 upgrade)

I guess I'm going to buy Pirate Warriors 1 since I loved Pirate Warriors 2.

Also that is a really good price for Battle of Z I bought it earlier this year and I have enjoyed it a lot.Jojo Bizarre Adventure is also really good but not worth that price, you can finish it in 5hrs.

The one thing that annoys me about Rogue Legacy is that the Cross Save feature resets the local options back to the default, so my preference to just have down drop below platforms gets constantly turned off every time I switch platforms. I don't know why that can't be a part of the save that is synced to the cloud.

Thank you (and everyone else who replied). I was seriously sitting in the menu trying to figure out what the hell to do with those items. I did give one of the NPCs some money and he became my acquaintance but I didn't realize that was their sole purpose. Makes sense now.

And, yeah, this would fit perfectly on vita.

Not that i need to spend more money on RPG's I'll never get the time to play but any opinions on Ys 1 and 2.

I remember buying Ys III for the Sega Master System but I don't remember anything about the game.

Good sale. Persona 3 FES is a steal at that price. I have it on PS2, but for $2.50, I can't pass it up.

There is at least one other purpose. You can tithe at a altar-y thing in some dungeons to, i think, get an extra life (not totally sure, never done it, I spend all my items on npcs, just basing it on the altar description)

Can't play FF8 that well on my computer but FFT is a little easier.

Can't decide whether to just pick FFT and FF8 (my favorite FF ever) for my PS3 cuz I know its not Steam where you sort of have it forever... Just makes me hate consoles sometimes.
