Skyrim on sale for 19.99. Snap it up if you haven't already owned it 6 times, even then, for 20, grab it again!
I want Skyrim. I really like all those elder scroll games. The problem is I haven’t finished a single one. I’ve played them all going back to Morrowind in the PC but holy crap there is just too much in these games and I can never ever finish them. I’ve tried twice on Skyrim and always lose interest and find other games.

I agree that it is misleading and that it undermines the way we think of a season pass. However, the term "season" is very general and typically refers to something much shorter than the life cycle of a game.
Yeah, and I appreciate that publishers like Ubisoft are becoming transparent about their season pass and exactly what is planned/included. SE has always been greedy as of late and need to be knocked down a peg IMO.

You know, at some point someone needs to get sued over what season pass really means because I'm starting to feel like DLC is getting a little out of hand. Not sued because I hate the concept already, but because we need more clarity and regulation on all the nickel and diming. Season pass to me used to mean all future content updates and DLC, but clearly publishers are already taking advantage of doing whatever the fuck they feel like.
If you buy a season of a TV show, do you get access to the entire series?

No, but how many tv shows have things cut to be sold later to get the complete story from the season? How many throw out little one shot episodes that are part of the story, but have to be purchased beside the season to make it a complete season?

No, but I also don't expect it to be missing random episodes inside because they decided it wasn't part of the season. Season 1 of a TV series wouldn't be Ep 1, 4-7, 9, 14-19, 24.
That reminds me of the olden days of file sharing like....ummm IRC and some other chat room style ones. I remember screaming why does this person have only episode 1-11 when there is at least to 15 I believe.....in RM or very small AVI format. Oh man people these days don't know how good even the worse streaming is lol.

lol, it took an hour to download one picture on dial-up.

Going to college and getting T1 or T3 or something was glorious.

I remember my college had a giant file share server where everything got dumped. Basically if it was on the internet it was there. This was back when a terabyte was astromocial amounts of storage.

Omg. Thank you for pointing this out. This looks like some sort of modern version of wings of Fury, which was just an absolutely amazing game from way back when. I guess I'm going to have to check out reviews and pick this up

Edited to add... Well I read one review and now I'm off to definitely buy it. It got 9 out of 10 and sounds like exactly what I wanted, which is a modern, feature filled, content filled update of wings of Fury. Tons of modes, base takeovers, and even in air hijacks. Sold. Even full price it's worth it for me.

Maybe other season passes are unclear so I can't say on that but FFXV had it clear in the description what we are getting in the season pass from the beginning, and there was never a promise that there would never be any new content afterwards.

Not exactly, but it is getting solid scores pretty much across the board. I'm greatly looking forward to it. I kind of think many will want to go with physical (Amazon Prime/Best Buy GCU 20% off) on this one for future trade in purposes - God of War games are thrill rides for sure, but long term replayability doesn't sound like it is going to be much more than previous GoW games.
On the other hand this one is much longer and has way more to do though, so it's gonna take longer for people to finish it

Indeed, FFXV's Season Pass was very clear about what was included. Complaining about them continuing to release stuff afterward doesn't fall into the category of SE "needing to be knocked down a peg." The Dissidia FF NT Season Pass also seems straightforward. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the same way. Which Square-Enix Season Passes are somehow vague, misleading or whatever? I don't even own NT and RotTR and it took me less than a minute to find out the contents of their respective Season Passes.

I mainly feel that they're milking a game to death post-season pass when the expectation for me at least was that once all the planned DLC was out, that was it and I could finally play "the game". But they keep adding and adding to the point that I see no end in sight, which begs the question: just how many season passes is this game going to have? And just how much was cut content to get the game out the door and charge later? It's an old argument I know, but it's becoming common place and I'd rather it not become the norm.

Or you could just play the game. It's not like any of those DLC's actually fall into the game. They're separate to the point where you need to load them on their own. They just show you what other party members were doing at specific points in the game when they weren't with you. Why wouldn't a company that just spent a small fortune developing a game continue to work on that game after its release? The idea that a game should get made and that should be the end of it is pretty silly.

correct me if I'm wrong but they said just recently that they'd be releasing an update that completely changes the ending of the game. that is insane to me and shows Square Enix has serious issues. Idk if it's paid DLC or a patch, but either way, I think it's dumb and means I'll keep waiting to play their game

They aren't changing the ending, they even said at PAX the ending in the game is the real ending. In the new DLC there will be an alternative ending. Now for the Notice DLC it could be an epilogue but in no way does it actually changed the end of the game

No offense intended but it seems like you made an assumption about something and then got mad at them for not conforming to that assumption?

Any chance of a Friday 13th flash sale?
Probably slightly better odds than the Easter flash sale that never happened only because we haven't had a flash sale this month.. Now if you are expecting it to be horror themed because of Friday the 13th then your odds become much much lower..

Most season passes I've seen within the past year or so are pretty detailed about how much content is included. They can be vague about what the content is or how long the content is, but they usually say the how much content you are getting.

Some season passes even end up getting more content than originally planned.

I thought the biggest complaint people had about season passes is the mentality "If dlc is planned before release, the game launches unfinished", which is why companies were less detailed at the beginning of the season pass trend.

I agree it's becoming a catch 22, but it all points back to the root problem of releasing unfinished games. Being able to patch a game post-release has been both a boon and a curse for gaming.

The assumption is made because we never really know anymore what dev's will do after a game releases, despite what they lay out in a season pass. That was my point of contention that going forward this over-milking of certain franchises (seems Japanese dev's are the main culprits abusing this) is going to be harmful to gaming. Imagine if every developer decided to suddenly milk each game they made by adding 2-3 years of content. Would you still buy games at launch knowing the game wouldn't be finished (I know many people here already claim they'll just wait for a complete edition now)? Would you start focusing on only a select few games to play due to time constraints? Would you lose interest in a franchise because you could no longer feel accomplished in 'finishing' a game?

At least for me, I have held off on playing FFXV because I know when I finish it, I won't be back; that's just how I work. The only reason I own it right now is because I got in on the BB glitch that included a free season pass. But over a year later, I'm still waiting for them to be done patching so I can just play the 'finished' game. I don't want a future of gaming that's all like that, because that would honestly suck.

Complaining because developers don't release enough patches makes sense. Complaining because developers put "too much time" into a game after it's been released is pretty sad. FFXV is "finished." Play it or don't play it. It's not like the DLC gets added directly into your game anyway. Again, they all load separately. The fact that you glitched a free season pass and are still whining really makes you look painfully entitled. That's not anyone else's fault.

Definitely going to pick up Mary Skelter and leaning towards picking up The Count Lucanor, but I would be playing on Vita and it sounds like that version may be pretty broken.

$20 is the SALE price for Owlboy? Yeesh I think they think a bit too highly of themselves
With the physical version only $10 more ($4 more if you have Prime or GCU), it might be worth just getting that.

FYI, Mary Skelter 2 was recently announced and it supposedly includes an improved version of the first Mary Skelter.

LOL. Think I may actually have to get School Girl Zombie Hunter.

Also, they announced a non-VR version of The Invisible Hours. Anyone know if it will be a free upgrade to the existing version? Or a completely separate purchase? Might grab it on sale if it is an upgrade to the existing game.

Not the biggest fan of the horror genre so this flash sale isn't great for me.. but I may grab Yakuza: Dead Souls just to see how bad (or good) it really is and maybe the Darkest Dungeon DLC even though I haven't played that game yet.. other than that..

Mary Skelter 2 and the remake are going to be PS4 games, and I want it on Vita. If it is good it could be worth a replay with the improvements on the PS4.
