Never said I get mad. I simply said a lot of indie throwback games get a ton of undue praise from a particular sect of gamers simply based on the fact they are indie throwbacks.

And you also assume that because I don't like something I get mad at those who disagree despite the fact you do not even know a thing about me. Again, it's the people of a certain portion that base their opinions more on whats trendy at the moment more so than what they think is good I disagree with.
At the end of the day, you'll need to weed through the comments and reviews and make a solid choice based on the info at hand. There is always going to be those segments of fans who put an elevated opinion to games for whatever reasons.

If you want honest opinions based on reason, and not so much on nostalgia, find reviews from gamers who have never played the classics such games are based on, then you'll be getting thoughts more in line with what you may be looking for.

I haven't personally play Axiom yet, as I'm waiting on the Vita version, but based on what I've seen and read, I'll love this game. Games like this and Shovel Knight can be very good when done properly. I'm glad to see this is finally getting done, as I've wanted to play it for almost a year now, but sadly, I don't have a PS4 yet, so Vita is my only option.

Is axiom verge actually good?

I'm curious about but I've been burned too many times by retro hipsters hyping something up to no end and it turns out to be either garbage or just another 1 out of a million other indie games trying to be like an old 8 or 16 bit game.

Been eyeballing undertale also but I hesitate for the same reasons.
I've heard enough good word of mouth on it that I'm taking it to be genuinely good (Which means a lot of good word of mouth.). Still haven't tried it myself.

You're right about the indie wank though. But Undertale is genuinely good as well. It's sappy as all get out but it is very good. The humor is absolutely spot on and the combat is surprisingly fun and well-crafted. It avoids almost every indie wank trap I expected it to fall in to.

Sorry to ask, I just want a little clarification: Fisky lists Hitman GO : Definitive Edition as Cross-Buy for the PS4 and Vita. But there's no wording in the description in the PSN store on either the console or website that confirms this. Are we SURE this game is Cross-Buy?

PSN blog confirms it:

"Beyond that, here’s what you really want to know: Yes, the game has a Platinum Trophy! Yes, the game will be cross-buy and cross-save!"

I'm guessing you mean retail games, not AAA? AAA is a really stupid term for big budget games in order to demean games made on lesser budgets or production values. Looking at the GWG list, only one of those was big budget when it came out last gen and maybe Lords of the Fallen is borderline at best. If you're talking about retail, lots of indies are getting retail releases these days, so it all arbitrary BS at this point.

Enjoy what you like, but I've never understood shitting on good and great games because their budget supposedly isn't big enough or there's a big enough publisher backing the game like that means anything anymore.
I was being facetious. I figured my last sentence would prove that.. I'm quite satisfied with Galak-Z being a free game of the month.

I've decided on picking up Life is strange this week but I would also like to pick up a second game. Any recommendations? I am between Volume and Axiom Verge at the moment .

I'm picking up Volume but only because I already have Axiom Verge. Pretty sure you can't go wrong with either. You want a Metroidvania or stealth game?

Didn't see anybody mention this, but the Puzzle Quest that's on PS4 now is the PS2 version. Whoever was obsessing about where they were now has a new game to think about.

Axiom Verge is really good as a Metroid clone that surprisingly makes big changes in the weapons and tools department.

I'm not sure if you should get it if your second sentence about getting mad that others enjoy some games more than you did is a sign of things to come.
Where are they now?

Gems of war, free game on ps4/xbox one (I've been playing, its got pay to play features, but you don't need to spend a dime, I racked up $25 worth of premium in game currecy playing casually for the past few months..)

Hand of Fate is actually VERY, VERY good.

Here's the game in a nutshell.   You have a deck of cards -- it contains encounters, weapons, shields, rings, etc, etc.    You'll unlock tons of new cards through gameplay.   This means encounters can actually have full plots -- for example, in one game you might help someone out and they give you a map [which means a new card], then next game you end up on that card, where you enter a temple, defeat enemies, and unlock a new weapon card that will now be in your deck for all future games [if you want].   This is a fairly simple example -- some of the encounter sequences are quite long.

For each game, the dealer deals out the encounter cards in various patterns that you'll need to navigate.   The ones you've never completed are clearly market [completing for the first time generally unlocks new cards for future games] -- this means even if you don't 'win' a specific game, you still often unlock a handful of  new cards.    As you beat games [bosses], those bosses now can be dealt as regular enemies...

It's just really smart.   For example, there's one card called 'crucible', where you're forced to fight 3 combats -- first you pick 1 of three enemy cards to fight, then you pick 2 of 3 enemy cards to fight, then you have to fight a random card.    you only get a tiny bit of gold for this, but strategically it's still a great card because it's a great card for getting a chance to 'skip' potentially difficult enemies by not choosing them.

There are all sorts of other stuff to be found... for example, my favorite armor is magic and lets you 'redeal' any monster cards dealt for an encounter.

Combat encounters are Assassin's Creed style combat.    Based on your encounter, the dealer will deal 1 or more 'enemy' cards, which tells you what you're fighting.   Your character will have whatever shield/armor/weapon/blessings/curses/equipment/etc he has found so far on his journey.... combat can be very different from one game to another based on your loadout.   All in all, I was worried about the combat part going in but now that I'm nearing the plat I can say it's really well done [and  I don't even like AC style combat].

I don't know if I'm doing this game justice or not trying to explain it.   It's just -smart-.  It's got permadeath, yet a great feeling of progression from unlocking new cards/encounters.   The dealer is well acted.  The plot is interesting, yet not overly weighing the game down.   Each game is -fun-, even if you die.   There's a good difficultly curve.

Highly, highly recommended for any --  card game fan, rpg fan, rougelike fan, and more.

Lol, i know. I was originally only going to write a single paragraph. Then I just realized how much I absolutely loved the game - -it's just so well crafted, such a great concept and game design.
I appreciate th description and praise. I have the game and you put it on my radar to play... However, why did you drop in to give that description? Is it on sale or something bc I don't see it. Just curious what prompted it.

The Batmobile from the new movie is coming to Rocket League on March 8 for $1.99:
Damn, they're moving up in the world. I bet when they made the game, they were like, "It'd be great if a couple more people played this than Super Powered Rocket Battle Cars", and now they have Batman in their game. That's like going on an OKCupid date and hooking up with Miranda Kerr.

Hand of Fate is awesome. I bought the dlc the friday it came out and it adds alot more to the game with new characters and difficulty levels.

also the TT score is through the roof, one of my top 3 true trophy score games. Still trying to get the 100% but the dlc added so much content. The plat was awesome tho. also one of the few games that added trophies to the base game post release, aka THE KRAKEN!

I picked up an extra 20% off code from the Boxed Deal Daily site a few days ago thinking I would use it but damned if it's even worth it to me right now.

It's good until the end of the month and the first person to quote this message and tell me what their favorite Pearl Jam song is gets it.

Always assume the song that was in Guitar Hero is a damn good heuristic for this.

Also those Dying Light Following endings. lol man what a total inversion of the theme and style of the original game. Did the writers go on Prozac?

Well I hit my $100 this week. I feel bad I bought games at full price, but I wanted to show the dev/publishers people still want these kind of games. (Though I did use my BoxesDeals 20% off so still a CAG).

Unraveled
Resident Evil 0
A boy and his blob

I preordered the upcoming Ratchet and Clank game, and kickstarted Yooka-Laylee, I miss my character platformers outside of Nintendo.

^This man has good tastes lol but seriously, you'll love Unravel it's amazing.

Well after learning about how to game share on the PS4 I just switched my Dad's account to my PS4 as the primary console and now I have over 12 months of PS+ games to sift through.  The pile just continues to grow.  I am happy I won't need to add PS+ anymore.

Does the $15 Rock Band export apply to the "Buy $100, Get $15" promotion?  I didn't see it in the Playstation Store when searching, but I did access it when I loaded the Rock Band 4 disc.

I don't believe so. In-game purchases don't count, just anything available directly on the PS Store.

I often review games I like here... I used to do it all the time. But now

a) i have a kid

and

b) i'm thoroughly addicted to TLOUR PS4 multiplayer

so I don't play as many games. Thankfully the last two games i've played/paying on the side [Hand of Fate, The Castle Game] have been very very good. Gems of war and Dying Light [unfinished] were also great.

Ever since I saw yarny, and the Devs passion for unraveled I couldn't get it out of my head. It's amazing so far.

Not to mention, EA of all companies published this game, they need to know we want more of these experiences (for those of use who do) . It's similar to grow home in the sense that if big publishers maybe break off a studio to just create small new IPs, or just new ideas, I'd be happy as I was when EA went hard on new franchises. I loved mirrors edge and most games that came from that era.

I have been wondering how this works. My brother set up my ps4 as his primary and I got access to all of his digital games. I wanted to return the favor and set his as my primary (as I am picking up several digital games myself now) to return the favor. He didnt think it was a good idea though. Said I wouldnt have access to my games if I made profiles for my kids on my PS4.

I don't quite understand the sharing or primary setups. Can someone explain it to me or post a link to an explanation?

Your kids won't be able to play any games you've purchased digitally unless they are on the console designated as your primary console. They'll be able to play your brother's games since he is set as primary on your console, so maybe that's good enough. And, of course, your kids can play your games under your own profile if you don't care about that.

It should also work that your kids can log in as you and then also as themselves and have access to your games and be able to play under their own profile. It will just show you logged in at the same time they are, but if you aren't going to play elsewhere, this probably won't be a problem for you.

Of course, none of this matters for disc based games. I actually have multiple consoles because of kids and disc based stuff helps remove a lot of this hassle.

Lastly, one problem you'll have with setting your console as a home console on another machine is that your saves will not upload to the cloud automatically, I believe. This is a little annoying in my opinion since I like the idea of the saves being always available in the cloud (to play on another console and for backup reasons) without manually having to remember to transfer them. I wish Sony would copy Microsoft on this issue. I suppose if you're game sharing with someone (like you and your brother are), the cloud save convenience is a minor issue for the benefits you're getting.

Ok I think I get it. At this point I dont even have profiles for the kids. I can't figure out how to set them up without email addresses. They're too young for that right now. They just log in as me and a guest.

1. Is there a way to set up a profile for a kid without going through an email and all that junk? On xbox live it was easy to just give them silver accounts.

2. With the way they play now (logged in as me and a guest) it sounds like making my brothers system my primary wouldnt cause any issues.

3. Cloud saves? Is it automatically saving things to the cloud? I never set it to do that and assumed everything was saving locally...

Thanks for the reply.

I need another $30 to spend and that purchase would have helped. I was thinking of purchasing Resident Evil 0 and some Rock Band DLC, or I could just preorder Ratchet and Clank (thanks for the reminder, doug_brit).
