fuck yeah crossbuy. Day one to play with gf and alone. Do they still support two player on 1 vita btw ?
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/04/03/divekick-a-tale-of-two-buttons/

A PS Vita version of the game is on the way as well. One of its unique features is a two-player, one-Vita competitive mode, which Iron Galaxy CEO Dave Lang calls the “most romantic mode in all of fighting games.” One player fights using the Left and Down on the D-pad; the other player uses X and O on the same system — that’s one way to avoid network lag!

When I was doing the E3 quests I kept reading it as Drivekick and assumed it was going to involve driving around in cars then kicking them.  Needless to say I was surprised and confused when there were no cars to be found at the "booth".

I'm at level 23 of 25 on Munch's Oddysee.  The fact that I made it this far makes me want to finish it but the game is fucking hard.  It's pretty absurd right now and I'm considering quitting it with only 2.5 levels to go.  Has anyone else played this yet?

Hope the PS1 Classic isn't Metal Gear Solid VR Missions. It part of the Legacy Collection that came out, but there are far better games to release before this.

Hmm, I think you guys are talking me into Growlanser. Maybe I'm crazy here but watching a video of a fight in the game it almost makes me think of the combat in the Infinity engine D&D games meets JRPG which could be pretty neat. Is that a reasonably accurate interpretation of what I'm seeing?
They are pretty similar actually, though without a mouse, it means you are constantly shuffling through the menu and giving commands. If you picked up the Baldur's Gate games with easy, Growlanser will come naturally to you. You're more likely to be put off by the anime aesthetics, though it's mitigated somewhat due to the fact that Atlus didn't spring for voice acting when localizing this game. (Previous Growlanser games featured voice acting.)

I'm conflicted about getting alice. The size of my backlog doesn't help either. Is it a must buy or can I pass it up without regret?

I got it because you also get the first game, which is basically impossible to find now without paying a fortune. If you're interested, I'd say definitely go for it.

Well, I'll check some gameplay videos, hype myself for it. It would be really nice of Sony that when Gaikai comes to PS4, it means all our digital PSN/PS3 are backwards compatible. If that comes out of the gate, it would be incredible. One can dream...

Got my PS3 up and running on the new 750GB drive last night. Process was simple, a little long since I did a full backup but it all seems to be there which is nice. Now I can load the drive up and stare at my digital backlog! Woohoo!

The first game is free now on PSN. All you have to have is the Madness Returns disc or digital version and you can play the original for free.

Not sure if old, but Capcom Vs. SNK 2 is coming to PS2 Classics next week.

Edit: Noticed it was mentioned with the blog cast post a few pages back. My bad. Still holding out on the PSOne Classic being good. Haven't had those in a while.
On a somewhat related note, a new Street Fighter 4 was announced at EVO. Does anyone know if the current AE version (ps+) gets a free update to that version or if it is just an all new separate retail release? I know there is a $15 character dlc pack, but I'm just interested in playing online against players with the new version.

And if I don't buy the new characters, will I still be able to play against them online?

If it's anything like AE then you'll have to select a specific version that you want to play before you jump online. I wouldn't expect that PS+ users would automatically get free access to the new DLC. That's all speculation on my part. It seems a little too early to tell exactly how Capcom will handle the DLC integration with AE.

So I ended up getting Alice and X men. I do like the occasional beat up game, especially when playing with family and frees. Now if only this one Spiderman arcade game would make it to digital download...

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/14/the-drop-week-of-july-15th-2013-new-releases/

Here's The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

Dynasty Warriors 8 (Also on PS3 Blu-ray) – Dynasty Warriors 8 follows the stories of the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin through the actions of historical military and political figures of the time as they fight to gain control over the Three Kingdoms of China.

Apart from the Story Mode, which comes with new episodes and characters and takes a deeper look at the drama that unfolds in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story, Dynasty Warriors 8 includes all new “What if?” scenarios. Breaking away from historical fact, this mode takes a look at what could have happened if famous characters had lived to fight another day. Stories branch out to different outcomes providing variety in the course and ending of the game, and giving the players the power to view an alternate version of history depending on their choices. The game also boasts a vast number of new and returning playable characters, as the highly anticipated officers Yue Jin and Li Dian from the Wei Kingdom, who make their first appearance in the series, alongside more than 70 playable characters that fight to prevail in the battlefield.

Time and Eternity (Also on PS3 Blu-ray) – Kamza, a vibrant kingdom located on a lush ocean island, is in the midst of a national event celebrating the upcoming marriage of their princess to a valiant knight. But when a group of assassins appears during the ceremony, this dream come true transforms into their worst nightmare. As the knight lays mortally wounded, the princess reveals her long hidden secret—there is a second soul living within her, and together they control the power to travel through time. But can they act quickly enough to reverse the course of history and find out what happened that fateful day? Only time will tell…

From NIS and acclaimed developer Image Epoch, Time and Eternity offers brand-new style of role-playing game, brought to life with captivating, hand-drawn animation. You will witness your own death at your wedding before traveling back in time with your wife-to-be in order to track down your killer!

Turbo: Super Stunt Squad (Also on PS3 Blu-ray) – Turbo: Super Stunt Squad is a high-velocity action game featuring the super-charged crew of characters from the animated feature film. Each playable character has their own signature street style and tricked-out skills which will come in handy when showing-off and earning respect with jumps, drifts, slides, flips and other super-cool stunt moves. Expert skills will also prove useful to earn power-ups, customize your character, win competitive challenges and discover shortcuts in the dynamic larger-than-life environments of Turbo’s world.

Dead Island: Game of the Year Edition – The island of Banoi is a lush, tropical paradise in the South Pacific where its flagship Royal Palms Resort serves as the ultimate getaway for vacationers with money to burn. However, all good things must soon come to an end – and the picturesque resort falls into madness, carnage and chaos after a mysterious and contagious zombie outbreak claims its once peaceful atmosphere. The GOTY version of last year’s first person zombie killing adventure includes all of the game’s previously-released DLC, including Bloodbath Arena mode, Ryder White’s single-player story campaign and a blueprint for the Ripper weapon mod.

Alien Spidy – After losing contact with his explorer friend Virgi, our fearless alien hero Spidy heads to Earth in his spacecraft to find her in Alien Spidy. While entering the Earth’s atmosphere, his spacecraft suddenly fails and starts to break up, causing Spidy to crash-land on the strange planet, with his craft scattered across forests, throughout ponds and into dark caves. Spidy finds himself alone on an alien world and faces the epic challenge of tracking down Virgi, battling strange new enemies and finding the missing pieces from his spacecraft in order to repair the damage and make their escape home.

The stage is set for the adventure of a lifetime as Spidy embarks on a perilous journey through a visually stunning 2D/3D world, where quick reflexes and fast-paced platform action create a fun and rewarding gameplay experience, which is easy to pick up, but challenging to master.

Mamorukun Curse! – Mamorukun and several other Chosen Souls have been plucked from the realm of the Living and tossed into the Netherworld! Not remembering how they all wound up in such a strange place, the Chosen Souls are immediately ordered by the wholesomely cute and utterly demanding Ms Fururu, to assist her in restoring balance to the Netherworld and stopping the World of Darkness from taking over. With their newly acquired Curse Powers, the Chosen Souls must fight their way through the Netherworld in order to find and seal the gate that separates the Netherworld from the World of Darkness before it’s too late.

Mystic Chronicles – Battle the darkness alongside your guardian beast! Mystic Chronicles follows the story of a mysterious youth, Lux, adopted by a small village. Lux has just begun his training to join the Holos Guild, a society charged with ridding the world of troublemakers. However, a chance meeting with a young girl sets in motion a series of events that sets Lux on a far more serious quest than just defeating ornery forest creatures! Could Lux end up being the savior of the entire world?!

Geronimo Stilton in the Kingdom of Fantasy (PS Vita / PSP) – Meet Geronimo Stilton, editor of the Rodent’s Gazette, the most important newspaper in New Mouse City. Join Geronimo Stilton on a colourful quest through the Kingdom of Fantasy as he tackles puzzles, brain-teasers and action-packed challenges. Enjoy a fascinating and gripping story based on the hit books that will enthral children and parents alike.

Doodle God (PS Vita) – With Doodle God you can create storms, build armies, grow a civilization, and so much more! Doodle God puts the power of creation in your hands. Mixing and matching different elements, work your way up, all the way from bacteria and beetles, to clay and ceramics, to tools, weapons and beyond! Don’t worry though; you’re not completely alone on your cosmic journey! Every time you successfully create a new item or procedure, you’ll also be rewarded with the wit and wisdom of some of the greatest philosophers and comedians! Clear, colorful graphics bring the rise and fall of mighty empires to your screen. Unleash your inner god with Doodle God!

Got this as a free app of the day on Amazon last year. Not a bad time waster, but not much gameplay depth with how you spend much of your time doing random combinations trying to proceed. Hopefully they won't overcharge for this one just because it's the Vita. If they price it similarly to how the men's room game was, it'll be fine.

yea if both vita games are dirt cheap i buy them both (under 2)

So I bought Lego Batman for the Vita and played through the first 3 levels and I don't understand why it gets so much hate.

It plays a lot like the older Lego games, there is a hub world and 14 story levels and tons of collectibles. I guess the console version has an open world (I haven't actually played it) but this one is super linear.

The game controls just fine and looks very good to me. The only major ding against it is the cutscenes, which haven't been optimized for the Vita and look like absolute shit. Besides that, I'd say it's a great pickup for $5 for anyone who enjoys Lego games. If the Harry Potter 5-7 and LotR Vita versions are similar to this, I'll definitely be playing through those as well, despite the lousy Metacritic scores (Harry Potter has a 64 and LotR has a 54).

I really don't think it's fair for these games to get trashed because they *could have* been ported from the PS3/360 rather than the DS.

I hated Doodle God on my phone. Starts out interesting enough combining elements, but it soon devolves into a random trial and error of clicking two things and hoping they somehow combine.

Also Justice League Mode is very good. There are five bonus missions, and each one is divided into eight different rounds where you take control of a different Justice League character. =)

I'm a sucker for RPGs and was interested in Mystic Chronicles, but I was expecting it to be $10 or less.  $15 is a lot to ask for the type of game that's routinely on sale for $.99, even if it does have a better translation.

Thanks to your review, I'm probably going to buy it now. Thanks Tyler.

As tyler said. Lego Batman 2 on Vita is great or good enough I should say. It only lacks the open world which I found pointless and didn't care for anyways. Lego Harry Potter is the same on VITA as well and plays just fine. Now to hunt down Lego LOTR Vita. Cant find it for $10.  :bomb:

I also just played Resistance Burning Skies which also had a lot of hate, it wasnt that bad. Graphics were lackluster but I enjoyed the gameplay. Good buy at $10 but nothing more as it is short.

Isnt lego batman a 3ds port and not a console port?

I assume the 2 versions are very different in content, and the 3ds gets the short end of thr stick.

Isnt lego batman a 3ds port and not a console port?
The Vita, 3DS and DS all seem to have got the same basic version but the Vita's better looking with the higher resolution. The portable versions get blasted not because they're terrible necessarily but because even more than the console versions (which are already guilty of this) they tend to be cheap retreads where the only thing differentiating the games are the licenses. I think this version of the game got beat up in reviews far more than the others because that lack of attempted innovation is more starkly contrasted when the console versions actually made drastic changes from the first Lego Batman game and even where it came up short tried to breathe some fresh air into some aspects of the game. They seem to be perfectly competent games but after over eight years of releases and 13 different Lego X titles it's more than fair to criticize the games for stagnation when any other sequel is fair game. When you've got powerful portable hardware it's going to rub people the wrong way to pump out cash-in portable versions even in a brand that's just one big cash-in on brands.

To add to the Lego Vita game discussion, took me about a day or so to plat each of them. So for people into trophies, there is that. For me it was Bats>Lotr>HP, but really they are roughly about the same quality. They use a lot of the assets from the console versions, it's all just simplified.

Another tidbit about Lego Batman 2: Both Troy Baker & Nolan North are in it. In the same game!!

It's like the nexus of the universe or something.

Stealth Inc. is going to be an instant preorder for me. Especially at that discount.

Man, I'm tempted to get all of those, but definitely getting DuckTales. And with plus you only have to spend $36 to get $10 back. In related news, my HD and wallet hate Sony.

Thanks for the write up for everyone. I was too lazy to do all of that haha.

Also, I haven't heard anything about Cloudberry Kingdom but it sounds fairly interesting. Has it been on the PS Blog before? If not, anyone here have a take on it?

ibb & obb is the only one I'm really curious about, so I will probably wait for a bigger discount. It is definitely a nice way to get people to buy these though, I know I'm tempted and i don't really even know what they are about :whee:

Are they in the Vita version? If so, that's almost worth the whole $5 by itself.

I haven't played the Vita version, but if its a port of the 3DS version (like has been talked about in here), it should as it had the full voice acting.

Do we have any idea when the pre-order pricing goes away? Is it just the day before each one is released?

I don't know, man. You gave chronovolt a pass...

Plus, for those not of the trophy hunting persuasion, it really seems like a hollow experience. I did enjoy the HP LEGO games on ps3, but mainly for the co-op.
