Quick question about angle of PS3

CAGiversary!
Hey guys,

I just have a quick question regarding my PS3.

It's currently sitting on top of a laptop cooling pad (Cooler Master X2) with the fan spinning at 1400 RPM.

The cooling pad itself is at a slanted angle (about 25-30 degrees) and therefore my PS3 is too.

Will that hurt my PS3? Will it push heat back into areas that it should not be in?

Logically, air should be more easily pushed out of the PS3 since the front of the PS3 is tilted upwards and the exhaust (Where the hot air leaves the system) is tilted downwards.

But, that is just how I see it and its very possible thats completely wrong.

Thanks guys, any input would be appreciated.

Heat rises, so I think having the back elevated makes more sense... especially considering cool air gathers lower.
In any case, how effective is a laptop cooling fan? Is this an old fat PS3? If not, I don't know how much more cooling you'd need in a newer model. Best advice is keep at least 6 inches around each of the sides of the PS3, and don't put it in an enclosed space.

Based on only physical tests, the bottom seemed alot colder to touch when I had the cooling fan. I am not exactly sure what program to use to measure the cores inside.

Where I'd be concerned is the disc drive and whether or not having the unit at an angle could possibly scratch your games or even futz with the associated moving parts.

That's exactly what I was going to say. As long as you have space around it I think it is fine to go without it. I have an original 60GB that has plenty of space around it without issues.
