Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - General Discussion & Info
I can confirm the Gamestop "exclusive map" is the one listed in the OP from the Comcast site that anyone can download.
Sweet...thanks for the update.

BTW I'm sure you all have noticed that the "private" achievement is glitched if you played any of the first vegas it will give you "bonus' experience and skip the private rank, so you don't unlock it. Ubisoft is apparently looking into a fix for this.

I thought the achievements would be easier this time but now you have to play with at least five other players for most kills etc. to count, so you have to actually earn the achievements now unless you boost with five other people.

Played through the first three chapters/acts and I can say I enjoyed the first Vegas a bit more, but the minor touchups like sprinting and the Call of Duty 4 UAV (lol) helps a bit.
Thanks OP. Free is great.

You can also download the map 'Streets' for free through the Ubisoft browser in the extras menu. You have to make an Ubisoft account but it remembered my login from Naruto and I was able to download it right away.
 1. Go to "Main Menu"
 2. Select "Extras"
 3. Select "Exclusive Content"
 4. Create Account or Log in
 5. Download Map: Streets
 6. Select "Confirm Download"
 7. Select "Continue" and game will restart

I really like the singleplayer so far, it plays a lot smoother than the first IMO. Though the storyline makes no sense to me. Big props for the leveling system upgrades.

I'll probably swing by Gamestop tomorrow and get this since they are doing the "extra 20% on trade towards the purchase of RSV2." I have a stack of games and I need this game!

Picked up the Limited Edition last night from BB. Got them to PM the target ad which listed it for $59. They said they would not honor the $10 gift card offer though. For some reason I wasn't charged sales tax. Weird transaction in general. At least I was able to use my RZ certs!

Also, don't bother deleting or moving your R6V files in an attempt to circumvent the glitched "Private First Class" achievement. The game looks at your achievements so if you have the achievement for making Elite or beating the game on Realistic it will award you the XP and you wont get the PFC achievement. Hopefully they fix this via a patch but who knows.
Thought the first was okay, but rather boring after playing COD4. Recommend?
From the reviews I've read, if you liked the first one, you'll like the second one. The sequel isn't going to win-over any new fans. So in your case, since you thought the first was one, but boring after playing COD4, I'd expect you to think the same for the second.

The gameplay is very different from COD4, so if that's more your style, I'd pass on RSV2, or wait until it's cheap.

I assumed it was just looking for any RSV1 save.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I thought the single player was kind of fun, but the multiplayer was not fun at all. The fact that we had one CAG quit playing this to come play COD4 multiplayer with us last night kind of sealed the deal that I'm not going to buy this one until a price drop.

Can we get all of the codes compiled in the first post? I'm getting confused seeing all of the codes and figuring out which ones may be repeats or what all is available.

Thanks all, see you online.

Some SP impressions:

So far, I like the gameplay much more than V1; it's favors smart tactics over running and gunning. I've enjoyed some intense firefights, and the AI is a bit smarter but no genius.

Visually, this game moved further away from photorealism; colors are bright and a bit cartoon-y at times. There also appears to be a filter that adds a bit of grit to the proceedings. The framerate is pretty stable until I got to the Second level inside the casino, with two floors and multiple tangos the framerate took a huge dump; and I got killed for the first time.

Tangos still say the same phrases over and over; and the music is very similar.

They are...towards the bottom of the first post in the OP.

The best part is when you're doing T Hunt on high density, trigger an enemy spawn point and hear (no exaggeration) 3-5 guys saying the same exact phrase at once.

Thanks Link, I realized after the post that I should check before making a request ... oopsidoodles.

LOL, yes I did put down R6V2 last night to play some CoD4 with the CAGs, but it wasn't that I didn't like the game, it was mostly because I was so used to the CoD4 control scheme that I blew myself up with grenades a few too many times in RB6V by mistake. Guess I have just been playing too much CoD4 with the CAGs lately!

I like the game so far, but like I said last night, it is definitely more of the same. Same game engine, same weapons, similar environment. The new XP system is well done and the fact that there is co-op story and T-Hunt and the fact t hat you can gain XP in both SP & MP will go a long way for me. Once we get a decent group of CAGs playing MP I will probably play a good bit of that.

I think as was said before, CoD4 and R6V2 are both shooters, but very different. If you didn't enjoy R6V then dont expect R6V2 to be any different for you.

I've been playing the shit out of this game. I've already hit level 20 in both Marksman and C.Q.B. and I'm at 16 on Assault.

IMO, with the new XP system, springting, re-mapping of some buttons, and minor adjustments to MP and THunt, this game is much improved over the first.

That's insane that you already hit the crap on those two. It's gonna be a bitch to level up after you max those three out, right?

Just played through the game with a friend on Casual last night and had a blast. Would have gone through Normal as well but I was pulled away due to a family emergency. The story mode is a nice little ride with a friend but there really isn't anything to make me want to play through it by myself. I guess my main beef with it is it didn't have any real "wow" or "Holy crap!" moments, other then
the woman getting shot in the chopper
, which after playing CoD4 is kind of a let down.

I can't comment on the multiplayer yet, since the only times I've played it I was either with people who spoke what sounded like Japanese, and some trash talking 12 year olds. I think this is one game that I'll defiantly try to stay offline with unless some CAGs want to tag along.

So my girlfriend is home for the weekend. She comes over asks me to get her phone charger out of her purse. Guess what is in there, R6V2, I have the best girlfriend ever. I have told her maybe twice that I want and she went out and bought it.

I only played for a hour but I love this game.

The only thing that won't show up again is the +500XP bonuses every other level.
Am I the only one that can't figure out what the hell is going on in the story?
Yea, I don't get it either, but I'm only through the first two acts right now.

After playing some more of the campaign last night I remembered why I liked the first game so much. Just a really solid game. I am playing through on realistic right now. That reminded me that I have to finish up R6V on realistic still. Guess I'll have to get to that once I get through this campaign.

Can't wait to play some MP tonight with the CAGs tonight. I'm stuck doing a Fantasy Baseball draft but I will hop on afterwards.

Send your FR to CAG R6V2 and I'll maintain the list this evening before the games are about to begin! (Friend list is currently at 23 so plenty of room for more CAGs!)

Is it me, or does the enemy A.I really not like you (and is harder compared to R6V1)? For example, if I stack my team up on a door with an enemy on the other side, facing the door, my squadmates have a good 2-3 second window to actually rush in and shoot the guy. When I cover next to the door and try to clear it myself, I get shot in the hand while the door is opening and I die. Or, I tag the enemy, but him in my sights before I open the door, shoot while I open the door, and I somehow still get killed first.
Am I the only one that can't figure out what the hell is going on in the story?
The game is a prequel, concurrent to the first game, and sequel.

Game is very fun with coop, but the story is way to confusing and almost impossible for people who haven't played part 1 to catch on. I tried to explain it to my friend and gave up.

I played a lot of co-op last night with my friend, as we are trying to finish legendary (er... realistic) together (I'm using the second guy) and I'm doing realistic by myself or with wife at the same time trying to get as much single player achievements as I possibly can.

My question to those CAGERS: Who actually got Elite in the first Vegas, and how many hours/days/timeframe do you think it would take to reach it in R6: Vegas 2?

I think everything in Vegas 2 is improved enough to warrant a purchase for those that enjoyed Vegas 1, with the exception of the music and enemy voice samples which are heavily recycled.

Picked the game up last night at Best Buy after going to 4 stores and them not having it. Even the Best Buy that I actually bought it at said they didn't have it. Had to go online and order it and have it shipped to the store.

Played it last night too when I got home played co-op with my brother and so far beat 4 acts with him. I'm actually surprised at how good he is (usually plays GoW daily, ranked something like 105 in warzone, all time) and wasn't familiar with how Rainbow Six games worked. I actually died more than he did. Played on realistic and somehow I didn't die as much as Rainbow Six Vegas 1 (but then again I played RSV 1 with myself on realistic. Gonna play co-op story again when we beat it because I need the "play as Bishop's teammate, Knight, ____ times."

On the other note
on Act 3, when the people are banging on the door and screaming for help, both my brother and I thought that someone was banging on the house door. So strange. Gotta love the home theater system, though.l

Elite will take anywhere from 1 month to 3 months. Casual play should get it for you in 3 months. If you are good though, you'll get it faster. I find myself getting 400 XP per win on Total Conquest and 250 XP by killing people in each 10 minute game. About 650 XP/10 minutes. 400k for Elite. 63 hours if I didn't screw any of the math up?

I'm still not sure if I will be playing this game...does the split screen co-op allow 2 users to be signed on and get achievements? My little sis won't play the game with me on co-op if it doesn't. The first one didn't allow this, so I still haven't finished it.

Oh and I wanted one of those RSV2LE keychains so I checked eBay and:

They're going for over $10...pass.

Wow thats a lot shorter then thought I would be. I guess I'll be playing this game till Elite in combination with Halo 3, cause my next big 360 game is Ninja Gaiden 2, followed by Soul Calibur IV.

My wife has a silver account and she got the achievements for beating Vegas 1, so I can't see why you couldn't get them before (huh?) but in Vegas 2 she seems to be getting the achievements left and right.

I'm talking about split-screen co-op. Vegas 1 only allowed one user to be signed on, the other user would have to show up as "Player 2" and therefore could not get achievements. I'm wondering if Vegas 2 allows 2 players to be signed on to play through co-op split-screen or if its the same as Vegas 1.

Played through the first act and got to the fast rope part of the second act where my team lagged on going down and were taken out after I had already gone down. I guess I'll start waiting for them to go down than assuming their half-way competent at that.

I can confirm that it does indeed give both players achievements. My brother and I played co-op and mine is gold account, his is silver (M$ screwed his gold account up, gotta phone them up again) and he got all the achievements that I got plus more (cause he was Knight). He also got A.C.E.S. points and exp and ranked up a couple of times.

That settles it, I'm opening this puppy up...thanks.

THUNT I hate again due to the spawning issue, I wish they would just spawn them all at the beginning but its great for Aces. A lot of situations in levels to rank up on them real quick. I just started doing it for assualt because i was so far behind on it. I have 15 15 and 11. I love team leader so much though.

I haven't had many problems with the spawn issue. I actually think it's pretty good. The only problem I have is that the terrorists, no matter what gun they have, ALWAYS headshot you up close -_-. Now, that pisses me off.

My problem is the friendly AI often misses the fact there's someone hiding (or even worse, they spawn as mentioned before). You have to keep your distance in THunt, or use a shield. A Shield was pretty much the only way I could get through the Vegas 1 levels, it's a lot tougher with the ranking system if you're just starting out though.

I got stuck on Villa, I get swarmed no matter which way I go. I've been hiding out by the pool and having my guys upstairs in my view and sniping from back there, still can't get past about 8 left.

Villas is really hard with just the AI as you partners. Put yourself up against the left wall that can be shot through easily and watch those two spots. Put your team watching the garage. You'll kill about 15 this way. Go up into the house through the garden area. That's how me and 2 friends did it

Just like the first Vegas its a matter of finding that "sweet spot", camping, and hoping they all rush to you in a matter of time. Every time they managed to come to me except 1-2 guys where I had the AI go ahead of me and find them. Pretty easy if you ask me.
