Ok, I'm looking for a new fridge. Mine is starting to leak on the inside, so I'm looking for something new. I'm looking for WHITE and have a budget of around $1500 or less preferrably. I've been checking out Best Buy (they have 24 months no interest, Free delivery and I have a 12% coupon)

Anyways, the two I like the best are LG and Samsung....anyone have any experience with these? They seem to be the only two with a SMOOTH WHITE finish.

Thanks!

Here are the TWO we are considering (maybe more though)

OR something like this in WHITE....it's a different model not online

This would be another option, but the handles felt cheap:

I do believe they make a type of paint for fridges. Might want to look into that if you find something thats not in white.

Me personally, I'm a stainless steel type guy

The folks somewhat recently (eh, it's been a year this September) purchased a stainless steel LG. So far it works great, looks great, and it's got a lot of needed space.

I don't want to paint anything....Stainless is nice, but I don't have $10,000 to remodel my kitchen. MY stove is newer, dishwasher works fine.
Get the ones with a TV on them :)
That's almost within my budget ;) I actually think those are pointless. I would rather get a flip-down 7" screen for my kitchen. I don't really need a TV anyways.

I'm leaning towards the LG right now, but it's around $400 more than the Samsung.

How bout this. Buy a cheap average refridgerator and bring it to West Coast Customs (or GAS whichever you prefer) and let them pimp it out! A week later you got a 40" Plasma screen on your fridge plus a chrome handle bar!

I know this probably doesn't help you, but we just replaced our 10-year-old GE fridge with a Samsung one (also from Best Buy) a few weeks ago. I think we pretty much chose that one for aesthetics (looks sleek, nice LCD, musical buttons). We're impressed with it so far, but that's because the one we had before was getting pretty junky, so this one seems totally luxurious to us simple folk (working ice and water filter? crazy!). It's pretty quiet too, at least compared to our previous fridge. But yeah, we love the Samsung fridge, and it's still working after 3 weeks :p

Thanks for the info....the Samsung seemed a little dim, lighting wise....was this the case for you? What Samsung was it exactly? Side-by-side with blue LCD? Thanks for the info....this fridge was probably the nicest on the OUTside....inside was not as good as the LG (but $400 difference)

Yeah, it was one with that was side-by-side with the blue LCD. I actually think the inside is plenty bright. It didn't seem dimmer than the LG ones we were also considering. What I originally didn't like about it was the fact the ice/water dispenser doesn't have a light, and the things you push for ice/water kinda stick there for a couple seconds before going back to the original position. But now that we actually have it, neither of those things bother me at all. The water/ice dispenser seems to work like any other ice/water dispenser (it still lags in going back to the original position, but it makes no difference in getting ice and water, IIRC), and I apparently don't walk around the kitchen in the dark as often as I thought I would :) I know the Samsung one doesn't have the Energy Star rating or whatever, if that's of any concern to you.

My parents just bought a Fridgare for $800. It has a water, and ice dispenser on the front. A replaceable water filter, and a few other gimmicks. I'm more of a stainless steel person but they got it in white. There are a lot of great fridges under $1000.

We have a Amana and it is nice(american made). I would suggest you get one with the freezer on the bottom. Like most people your always in the fridge part and very seldom use the freezer. Save on the ole back when you get older. Good luck.

The only problem, is all the WHITE fridges by American companies have that texture to them. We both HATE that look. Here are the TWO we are considering (maybe more though)

IN OP NOW :)

I like mine big, cold, and steel.

Something like Consumer Reports should have a lot of information on a major appliance like that. Try to get one with the best efficiency rating you can get, it'll save you a lot of money. Also, try checking out Sears to see if they're clearancing any out, or if there are any open box.

I know my Best Buy usually has open box deals...but I'm always curious why they are there. How much do you actually save with effiency rating?

I know the LG is Energy Star efficient, the Samsung is not. How much a year would I save? I think LG was like 44 vs 61 or so.

You may want to check Home Depot too. Sometimes they'll have scratch-and-dent items and the scratch is on the side or a crack on a $20 replaceable panel. I'm sure other stores do this, but it seems like the HD by me always has one or two up front by the door.

Yeah, I've been around to most stores. Best Buy is my best bet since they have 24 months - No Interest. That is a great deal for me.

Have you tried Lowes? The Home Depot near me has a terrible selection of appliances. Lowes however had a great selection. We got a new fridge and stove for about $1300 after taxes and the delivery fee. There was a few mail in rebates and we recieved $155 back (one $55 check and one $100 gift card). Also, the selection at Lowes was much than the BB down the road. Last I checked, if you apply for the Lowes credit card and purchase said fridge on it you'll have 12 months no interested if paid off in a year.

I've looked at Lowes/HD/BB/ABC Warehouse. BB and ABC seemed to have the fridges we want. I may bite the bullet today or tomorrow. Don't really want to spend the money, but one of my furniture bills will be paid off soon, and this would be less.
Hmmm is there something you're not telling us? ;-P
Yes. I like stainless steel appliances. Though it very well could end up being how woodgrain was in the 70s. No one seems to know why people liked it, but it was everywhere.
