Removing rental stickers?

I picked up a couple of old games from a local video store, and they've got the dreaded "do not remove" foil stickers on them. Anyone know a good way to get them off? There's two Dreamcast games and two N64 games, so we're dealing with two different surfaces.

I'd try Goof-Off, but I don't want it eating the games.

Are the DC stickers covering the whole disc? If so, check to see if there's spots in the sticker that look at little different(like bubbles or dark spots) If there are spots on it, you're SOL on getting the sticker off. Cause if you remove the sticker, it's going to take that part of the disc's label off with it.

Doesn't look like it. They're pretty small, a little bigger than an address label. It's the typical foil sticker that leave the "VOID" behind if you remove it. I peeled the stickers off the N64 games no problem, and the only remainder is the adhesive residue and thin foil backing. I assume a little work should clean them up nicely.

I'm just apprehensive about trying to remove them from a CD-ROM. :whistle2:k

They are a pain in the ass to remove form carts but the plastic like you said remains fine. You are very unlikely to get them cleanly off a CD. I have tried removing them from dvds and a couple of games before and some of the disk comes up with them everytime. Those little silver labels are the devil!

I've tried a lot of things. I've heard that if you use De-Natured Alcohol it'll work. You can't use it on carts however cause it'll fade the label, but i've heard it has no ill affect on a cd. I guess the trick would to be gently taking some of the sticker off with your finger nail, dabbing some of the De-Natured Alc. on it, and leaving it for abit, then wiping it clean. I'd do it with a disc that sucks first, to "test" for bad effects.

Here it is... GOO GONE. i have been using this adhesive remover for years it won't discolor , it won't peel game labels, It wont melt plastic. ahhh the power of citrus . get it at walmart lowes home depot.wherever. end of story, that is all you need. seriously..

I used Goo Gone to take off a disk sized sticker off of X-Men Academy for the PS1. I was scared the data layer would come off too but it worked great. Just do not go too fast.

I use rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball/cotton pad. The left over "VOID" foil comes off like a charm on cartridges. It would probably work on discs too, but try not to rub too much because it will start to take the disc art ink off with it if you rub it enough. I discovered that when taking off permanent marker off one of my Transformers Season 1 DVDs.
