Anyone else holding out for a low price on the last gen, the 360 version of this is finally $20 ($~16 with GCU at Best Buy) $16 and possibly going lower! It's listed as being on clearance so you may be able to snag it cheaper. Now that the PS4 version is just a few months away, interest in the last gen port is probably extremely low.

Best Buy:

It had been $20 at Amazon during 4th of July weekend but it's currently OOS. Will update the thread if the match BB again.

I've heard nothing but good things about this port. Infact I don't know if It's still true, but at launch the aiming was actually better on the 360 then X1.

Not sure if it was mentioned by digital foundry, but heres a graphics comparison video. The people who ported this to the 360 are Wizards.

Prior to release, the 360 port got zero marketing and everyone worried it would be shit. Reviews and videos all indicate it runs and plays wonderfully, they just wanted to sell the prettier version on X1 and some consoles along the way.

Yes, less input lag on 360.

We all know the 360 is greater than One. It had the biggest software support from all over the world, the best online network for its times, and it stayed on the market for a whole decade without any upgrade. The One... *sigh*

Is that still the case though? Either way the port is fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to wait for the PS4 version/doesn't have a decent enough PC/has a x1.
Believe so. Only the PC version "fixed" it so the lag may have something to do with X1's hardware which cannot be fixed. Also the 360 is fully vsyn'ed where as the X1 version is tearing at the top 1/4 of the screen when the game engine is stressed.

I bought the 360 version at launch because I didn't have the X1 yet at the time (last Nov) and agree it's a crazy port. I didn't think the 360 would have come out alive but it did and with fairly stable frame rate to boot. Truly the last amazing port for the system. The only thing I miss from current gen/PC versions is the hair physics. I can live without the prettier graphics but the TressFX hair physics is truly amazing, like in the last Tomb Raider reboot game.

Damn, just bought this a few weeks back at BB for $25.99. I didn't think it would reach $20, as most stores where sold out in my area, so I figure this had a low print run.

When I buy games cheap and throw them in my backlog, only to have them drop further sucks balls, but I can live with this one since I've been playing it for the last few weeks, so I didn't waste my time and money like most of my backlog games end up.

I played the first game on the 360, and this one runs great as well. All the reviews state how well this game runs on the 360, and is probably one of the best games on the system overall that uses it's full potential. So they for sure had the hardware dialed in while making this port.

I bought the 360 version at launch, since I didn't buy into the X1.  It still looked great and was a lot of fun.  Surprised to hear the stories of the comparing it to the One, kind of funny.

I'm so tempted, but what are the odds this will be a GwG pick down the line? The previous Tomb Raider was.
Next November/December chances go up a lot. The first one went GWG 2 years after release. The definitive edition on X1 went GWG a few months before 2 years after release. The problem is the first Tomb Raider was GWG before XB1 BC, and I'd imagine MS rather get people to pay for the X1 version. But who knows.

Well, the 2013 TR ended up on PS+ and GWG in part to try and recoup expenses because Square-Enix was disappointed with sales relative to their budget making it. Putting it on as a freebie served as marketing for the sequel once the retail sales died down for the first game. Based on how long RotTR has taken to hit $20 I wouldn't be surprised if they resist putting it up on GWG - more like a complete edition will come out before then with all of the DLC.

To their credit, the 360 version received all the season pass content, they didn't short-change last-gen folks at all.

I haven't played the Xbox One version of this yet (just upgraded consoles recently) but I got the 360 version for Christmas and can say that it was a great game and very beautiful on that system. For this price I think it's worth it for any still waiting on last gen.

Also, to those thinking it may go GwG, my two cents would be that MS will make it free right around the time the exclusivity ends and it's available on PS4 just to mess with them, unless the agreement prohibits such shenanigans.

Who are you people that don't already own an Xbox One or can't wait just a few more months for the PS4 version?
I'm in grad school, on a budget, and still have a big backlog of 360 and PS3 games. Releases like this help stave off the upgrade fever, too. I'm in no hurry.

I don't own either console, as I don't see the point in getting either at this point. The RoTR is the perfect example of why I don't. I'm playing the same game that is offered on the ONE, and I didn't need to buy a ONE to do so. It looks fine to me, and I don't want to pay hundreds more for the same game, with a slightly better look. CAG just doesn't apply to games, but consoles as well.

Honestly, I'm wondering why anyone owns a ONE, or a PS4 at this point, as I personally don't see the value. So I guess different strokes, for different folks.

Exactly. Even after 3 years, there aren't enough games I'm interested in to justify a ~$300 system when a lot of the games I've wanted were on old gen too, especially indie and digital games. Between that and the trickle of Wii U releases I've enjoyed, I don't have a huge interest in the current gen yet.

I've always operated under a ten-game rule. The moment there are ten must-have exclusives, I usually think a console is worth it. This go-around, I got a Wii U first (Bayonetta 2 was the game that sold me on the console), and picked up a PS4 last holiday season. I probably jumped a little early on the PS4, though I had ten games I wanted by that point. With all the rumblings about the Neo, however, I think your waiting it out makes sense.

I normally try to operate by a similar rule set, but I have so many games from the last gen I have left to play, I just didn't see the need to move forward, not yet any way(even if I did reach the magic number). I was able to get the new Metal Gear for my PS3 rather cheap, as well as this Tomb raider, so I'm good.

I almost always sale my first version console for the "slim" models when they are released, and since I've waited this long, I'm just going to wait for the slims to happen, so I get a more streamlined console, and I can also get most AAA titles rather cheap by that time, so even if games sit around, I got them at bargain prices, so it's all good.

I am assuming you have a beefy PC or just don't care for the multiplatform games then? I mean, the first yearish the X1/PS4 was out I could see your point because Destiny and Titanfall ran pretty fine, but the PS4 has Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 alone amongst many other exclusives out at this point. Multi platform wise: Battlefield series, COD (last gen is neutered at this point), Battlefront, The Division, DOOM, The Witcher 3, Divinity Original Sin I could go on. Last I logged into my 360 even the arcade/indie titles are barely getting released there anymore. AFAIK there's only been two titles released in the US on the 360 in the last 90 days: Lego Star Wars and that god awful TMNT game.

Also the X1 has been around $200 multiple times for a new system or close to it, PS4 I got mine for $180 on Amazon Warehouse deals. While the X1 has less exclusives it has BC, so more and more of my titles will carry over the new system.

The only game you mentioned I would actually buy would have been Uncharted 4, and I would only get that one on sale, so yeah multiplatform games aren't that big of a deal.

The only two I had interest in where MG5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, and I got them both cheap, so I'm all good. As I stated, I have plenty of great tiles on my last gen systems, so I have no need to rush in to the gen to pay full price and have games sitting around.

I'll buy a "slim" ONE/PS4 somewhere down the road for $200 or under, and get most AAA titles for $20 or under, and I'm happy with that plan. And, while I did have a rather beefy PC a few years back, I only ever used it for emulation purposes, so that still works great for that purpose, so I'm still good there as well.

PSA if you got this over July 4 weekend, it's current TIV at Gamestop is $18. I finally beat it over the weekend and I know I won't go back to it any time soon, so I traded it in today for essentially what I paid. Woohoo!

Very excited to finally play this game on the PS4.  It clearly looks like this is THE version to play, with all DLC, all retail exclusive DLC, and extra game content made just for this release.

Nicely done, Crystal Dynamics - nicely done.

The vanilla releases will be < $10 by this holiday season.  At this point, if you have a PS4, no point in buying the other version.  Just wait for the PS4 version, and if you wanted this long, wait a few months, and it'll be $29.99 by the holidays/Black Friday.

Thanks OP!

Any chance they make a GOTY version of this for the 360 with all the DLC and such? I know the PS4 is getting this but haven't seen anything for the 360 yet.

Since Xbox One is the priority system, I wouldn't think so, but then again, you never know! Considering picking up a 360 copy myself since the 360 still has the best controller.

I'm hoping they'll just have a price drop or fire sale on the season pass eventually for the 360. A GOTY edition would be nice but I assume this will be on X1 and not 360. The market just isn't there for old gen.

However, having played and beaten it since posting this a month ago, I can attest that the port is indeed fantastic. It looks and plays just as well as TR 2013, so if this is your only option like me, rest assured that it's not a shoddy port.
