Bestbuy has a separate, two week flier for music gear and they're advertising Rocksmith game bundle+ Epiphone guitar for $199.98 and you get a $50 giftcard with purchase of the game/guitar bundle.

Ad is a bit odd in that they only list sku's for the game bundle and standalone guitar (#2633103, 2633149, 2273055), so they may be doing in-store bundling. Plus they list the game + guitar bundle as a 10 savings over buying everything separate

You'll love it. Schecters have a great feel. The thing about guitars is that they hold value well. If you ever did decide to give up guitar entirley, it's not like you'd lose money on it... I usually have buyer's remorse for stuff, but never for guitars. I love them all. If anything, I get seller's remose when I get rid of an axxe - even if it's one I don't play.

NOTHING will be worse in your guitar playing life than having a strap come loose and you breaking the neck off of your guitar. Seriously. A decent strap is $15 and a set of Dunlop StrapLoks can be price matched in store to GC's own website for like $12.99. Don't say I didn't warn you.

You really don't want to have to go through the heartache of losing guitar because of a cheap strap. Those guitar hero/rock band straps are designed for lightweight plastic guitars. Honestly, you'd be much safer to sit down & hold it on your knee until you get a real strap.

As far as Smashing Pumpkins dlc...sweet! Once I get the new game I'll be practicing "Today" till my fingers bleed. Been trying to learn it on my own for a while. I'm sure this will speed up the process.

The guitar came today. I am rather overwhelmed. There are so many knobs and doohickeys on this thing! I have NO idea how I'd change the strings. It does seem like a very nice guitar though, compared to the acoustic one I had. It's a Schecter SGR C-1.

It's really not that hard to put on strings (just make sure you have the right order). Youtube it.

Also, make sure you have a nice set of wire clippers, otherwise you're stuck with long coils on your tuning pegs. Looks so messy.

Don't give up. It takes a while to develop those muscles. No one started out playing barre chords. It's also easier once your finger ends toughen up. Callouses help a lot. I find now that I don't build the insane callouses I used to just because I understand how to play lighter.

As far as Smashing Pumpkins dlc...sweet! Once I get the new game I'll be practicing "Today" till my fingers bleed. Been trying to learn it on my own for a while. I'm sure this will speed up the process.

Interesting... I hadn't really started working on PSSoM outside of the game - I had been working on "Hysteria" in my DL book. I'll be interested to know how much quicker you think you pick up "Today" in RS2014 versus a book. Keep us posted.

I've checked out justinguitar.com, and it seems I've been pushing too hard on the strings, and not close enough to the fretwire

I'm also struggling with chords that require most of the strings on one fret to be held down.

Just curious about something.. could use a little clarification. Are they releasing new DLC songs on Tuesday? Or are they doing another batch of songs on sale like they've been doing in the past? Or maybe both? I was looking to buy some new tunes but the prices are a bit much. No self respecting "cheap ass gamer" wants to spend 3 bucks per song.

Anyone know if they're ever going to do a bundle like they did a while ago? They did something crazy, like, 20 song track pack with Queen and Police and Judas Priest and Rush all bundled together or something like that for 30 bucks. I want something like that, even if it has a bunch of songs I don't like. 1.50 per song makes the cheapskate in me shout with glee.

Grrrr... The game was supposed to arrive today, but it only arrived at the local post office today, so I don't have my hopes up.

Just irritates me that I live in Pennsylvania, and the game was in New Jersey just a few days ago, but the then UPS turned it over to USPS, and sent it to them in North Carolina.

Can anybody report on the added value of Kinect for RS2014? I've seen a couple in the $20ish range and have been wondering if I should bite. Money's a little tight right now but I don't think I've seen it that cheap before

I think the used liners are going to be $24 at GS on BF... I'm thinking about one. Evidently, the voice commands work fairly well. You can just call out a song name and it goes to that song.

I don't care about $3 being the cost of a song.When I finish a CoD game, I still can't shoot a rifle. When I play Firza, I still can't drive a race car. When I learn a song in Rocksmith, I can plug into an amp and wail on that shit. That's worth $3 to me.

I'm bummed because I won't have much time to mess around with it tonight as I'm working on a review of a game for my site. Sigh...

Still, it has been delivered and is waiting for me, so that's a comfort.

Think I've played RS2014 enough to be able to say...

the new in-game tuner and the white horse the programmers were on when they coded the damn thing.
I'm done retuning in-between songs until they patch to be less twitchy. I get that they wanted to make things more precise but this is ridiculous.

Hard to say right now.

Those mega packs were only available for a short time and they did that around the launch of the PC & Bass versions last year.
The next big sale just barely finished, as a lead up to the RS2014 release.

Still a little pissed that they didn't put the last 15 songs on sale.

Oh well... got a pretty massive song list to work thru as it is.

I'm probably just a SP fan too, but I agree. That's a great pack. "Disarm" is fun as hell to play too. And obviously, no one can deny the timeliness of a Smashing Pumpkins pack. It just makes sense.

You realize that was a joke right? And you forgot the part for the licensing fees. Or all the time and effort the original artist spent to create and produce the song originally, which likely is more than the production cost of charting an already exisiting song. That .99 itunes song can easily have more $$$ sunk into getting it from scratch to itunes than the Rocksmith tracks cost to chart. Something tells me it costs more for Bono to write and record a song than for some lowly programmer and musician team to chart it up. The big difference is the potential audience and return on investment. Much larger audience for an audio CD of U2 than the same track on Rocksmith. Bono can get a much smaller profit per song on itunes and still make tins more than his cut if they sold the same song for $20 on Rocksmith.

But still, not paying $3 a song. I will wait for more song packs and sales. Their work is worth exactly what they can sell it for, which right now is $3 a song. I might bend and get one or two at full price once I get a bit better, but when you are a cheap ass and get the old version for $10 from Best Buy, hard to double that cost for 3 more songs.

Ok, so I started the game this morning and because I hadn't accepted the terms of Xbox Live (let my account lapse and just got a free month code because I don't play anything on Live anymore...) I couldn't buy the Sony Import pack.  Plus, it doesn't show up in the Pack section of the store.  

I had to exit the game, backup my save.  Start the game again with a new save, which then let me buy the import pack, then exit the game, reload my original save and then be able to start with the imported songs.  

Ugh... not the best way to start the game.

To be fair that sounds more like an issue on Xbox's/MS's live end than Rocksmith/Ubisoft. Had no problems like that with the PS3 version and importing the tracks.

It's apparently an issue with the Xbox 360 version of the game.  If you don't do the import as soon as you start the game (live issues or not,) you can't buy the import pack unless you start a new game.  

You're right though, it's not a PS3 issue, just a 360 version issue.
