I have a friendly competition with a co-worker to make a short film for Halloween. It has to be ready by Oct. 9 (yes, I am a slacker). It has to be scary and less than 5 minutes. I would like to keep the special effects to a minimum because of time. Regardless, I have been unable to come up with an idea that I am happy with, so I am reaching out to CAG.

Ideas?

Just make something that you would normally consider safe and secure, not.

Stuff like goulies etc appearing under your covers, people being in your house, something waiting for you in your car. The more intimate and specific the location the better. Say you feel good when you're in your bathroom taking a shit or whatever with the door locked. Ruin that feeling of security without having to actually show anything scary.

Also I always thought this was a little creepy reading through it, maybe some inspiration. You could do something pretty easy with shadow manipulation.

Ah and of course /x/ and the holder series. You could pick any one of the 538 and throw together a decent tale.

Wow... I have never heard of the Holder series but from the first few, I like it and I think it is very close to what I am looking for. Thanks for the suggestions.

make it so you dont see what it is until the end. Also keep it simple with the story. I also like when you expect something scary to happen(something popping out) and it doesnt happen, and then a little bit later something scary happens.

Make a video about two guys in a Scary Movie Competition. One of the guys slacks off, but his coworker doesn't and makes a really good video. The guy who slacked off gets shown up, so, he sneaks into his coworker's house late at night and kills him.

That should scare you're friend.
