Starcraft vs. Command & Conquer. A poll.

CAGiversary!
So which do you prefer? Be as general or vague as you like.

After playing many of the C+C series and, of late, C+C3 I have to continue to vote Starcraft all the way.

Here's some Starcraft +'s, as I see it:

+ you actually get details on screen regarding your units. this is so key. it's really not much fun to think of a predator tank as ambiguously less powerful than a mammoth tank. I don't really want to have a series of print-outs on my lap.
+ the buildings are more fun to interface with in Starcraft, and they function more than just to building up a tech-tree. In a word, the C+C building are borrrrring. I'm almost done with the campaign and I can't even tell what half of them are or do. Just build them all, sir.
+ way, way better storyline for single player. don't get me wrong, the campy acting is fun, but starcraft murders C+C in this area.
+ air forces require too much micro managements and are too paper-platey in C+C.
+ upgrades are much more fun, and useful in Starcraft. every unit has something you can tweak.

C&C. I just find it easier to play.

I'm still a big Blizzard fan, but I guess I like C&C style better. If you ask about Warcraft and C&C, that might be different...

Warcraft vs C&C is a much better poll since, IIRC, they directly competed against each other, and back in the day you were either a Warcraft fan or a C&C fan.

What do you really expect when you put the one RTS people claim as the best ever vs anything else?

StarCraft. No contest. I'd call it the best RTS ever.

Hell, I'd go as far as to call it the best PC game I have ever played (IMO of course).

Yea, but I think, RTS-wise Starcraft vs C+C is more relevant with Starcraft 2 on the horizon and C+C3 just out.

That said, I was (and am) curious to see if CAG's have some serious praise for the C+C series. Particularly the single player experience.

you guys are all nuts you know that!!

I've played Starcraft in college years ago and I just picked it up yesterday from EB for 9.99.

I've been playing CNC games since 1997 (starting with RA1)

Does Starcraft have a bad ass that just won't die named KANE?!??!? NO!!!

Being that I like games where you don't have to only build prism tanks to win a multiplayer match, StarCraft wins hands down.

Sorry, C&C, I have loved you dearly... until StarCraft.

what?

I don't need prism tanks......... Only noobs rush with powerful high end tanks.

A good player will use combations , multiple wave attacks... I am getting tired of noobs sending 10,000 upgraded mamooths (sp?) tanks and then quit the when my oboslesk of light base defenses crushes them. After they spent all that money, then I come for them.

lately I have been fucking around with players who don't put up a base defense and sneak around there frontal base and capture some of there buildings from the side.

One guy tried to engineer rush me from the start. Sneaky but it worked the first game, then he had the balls to do it in the next game that same day, even though by the second time I already put up a base defense. Still engineer rushes early in the game are cheap.

That's another point I would like to add to my plus list... at least in Starcraft there is not an uber unit like a mammoth tank which is really all you need to purchase. Not that I understand the difference between it and a predator, but I do understand it kicks the shit out of the predator on the battlefield.

Seriously, where are the *on-screen* stats?? Not that C+C has ever had this. To tell you the truth, I'm not a big fan of the building queue system either.

starcraft is the finest RTS ever. i have high hopes for SC2, but i'm not expecting it to match the greatness of the original

CC is fun, but yeah. not nearly as good.

I'm going with C&C, although it wasn't an easy choice.

I put more time into Red Alert 2 than Starcraft. Plus I've played C&C games more in general (although there only being one Starcraft game at the moment has a heavy impact on that).

It's been all about C&C even before C&C was around when Dune 2 was king w/ Westwood studios.

Blizzard was always one step behind until Starcraft came out and the entire Korean population orgasmed and made it their religion.

Tough choice but I chose C&C, simply because they have engineers and they can steal technology from the oposing nation and use it to their advantage. I'm surprise that more RTS haven't copied this, its such a great feature and it adds so much more to the gameplay.
