Group Buys - Updated 05/20

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales
Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

On a similar note, if I use my tickets does that remove entries for the grand prize drawing?
Nope - the tickets stay in the jar even after you buy a prize.

So far I've bought Borderlands and Bioshock 2. Really hoping for Fallout 3: GOTY (just for the DLC and to have it on Steam) and Fallout: New Vegas to go on sale soon. Oh yeah, and Mass Effect 2.
I'm having activation issues, am I alone or is the increased traffic still causing outages like that?
There seems to be a lot of issues cropping up, likely due to the monumental increase in traffic and purchases. You may want to contact Steam support.

Happens with every steam sale. It's the game publishers fault usually not steam.

Especially with indie games their servers just can't take the abuse.

I'm in the same boat for Fallout 3 : GOTY (still bitter about the gamestop fiasco).

In regards to New Vegas, it's on sale (today and tomorrow only I think) at BestBuy (online and B&M) for $9.99 and it uses Steamworks. Considering it's listed @ 49.99 regular price on Steam 75% would be $12.50'ish, so it may actually be cheaper @ BB.

I tried about 6 times to activate and then decided to just completely close out Steam and re-open it and it worked the first time. So whatever was holding it back must have been minor.

This was a steam issue (or possibly on my end) not a publisher issue. The Steam servers were being called out in the error message.

FYI, New Vegas is $10 at Best Buy with free in-store pick up. The game is still $50 normally on Steam ($37.49 right now). I doubt you'll see a

Bit on Darksiders before the curtain fell. Hope it works well on my machine because it's showing it's age a bit. Batman Arkham Asylum runs at 60 fps maxed out so I hope this does as well.

I'd love to see some big sales on:
Portal 2
Crysis 2
Brink
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate -> I'm missing basically all the DLC; I own DAO + Awakening from Retail already.
Fallout 3: GOTY - I'm missing ALL DLC, even though I own already FO3: CE from Retail
Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga - I own D2:ED from Retail, but I'm missing the ED Remastered and FOV.
Fable 3 - yeah, it's $25 w/out ANY DLC, but I want it w/ ALL the DLC for that price [or less]. :p

Dragon Age Ultimate download is $11 at Amazon currently. I'm probably going to buy it there, I don't think Steam will match/beat that price.
Anyone have any thoughts on Meridian 4 Complete Pack? I don't own any of the games, and yet some seem very interesting! http://store.steampowered.com/sub/8681/

89% off too - having a hard time showing restraint! tell me not to do it!!
I bought it Friday because I already wanted the Syberia and Still Life games. There are definitely some clunkers in the pack (just from looking, I obviously haven't played them all), but things like the RIP games and Future Wars look fun enough. I figured the little bit of extra money I spent on the pack over getting the games really wanted was a worthwhile gamble to try out some other stuff.

Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 will not be going on sale, both are published by EA. And as choral_music said, Crysis 2 isn't even on Steam anymore. Let's all hope EA pulls their heads out from their collective posteriors before the holiday sale comes around.

Yeah, if DAO Ultimate ain't going up today on Steam in an hour, Amazon's got my $.
Since that sale ends tomorrow on Amazon.

More than anything...I really want to try Witch Hunt and Leilana's Song.
Also, I want that Warden's Keep - I need a chest. :p

Oh, crap - I forgot about that.
That's right, it got removed due to a disagreement b/t Steam and EA.
I'll have to watch Amazon, D2D, and others for Crysis 2 PC then...
Darksiders is a great game, one of the best Console Ports I have ever seen on the PC in all my years!!!!

this game is a console port, but with a 360 controller I wouldn't be able to tell you it is (LOL guess there is some comedy to that statement) ....it is SO SMOOTH and game mechinics are perfect, this is a game with roots from God of War, but it isn't just a clone it is a new game in the genre..... all fight games have punch / kick thus you can say they are all clones of whatever you consider the first fight game, this game has chest and triggered hit assigned button at right time just like God of War but it is different, art style, graphics and smoothness I have never seen a game of this type be so SMOOTH on the PC or even console last I play God of War 1/2 and Conan neither was this smooth....

Played on x4 965 + Sapphire Xtreme 5850 + 8gig ram and win 7 64bit + 360 controller (for those who might want to know)
I'm so relieved to hear this. :applause:
You won't get the ticket early, but when the challenge pops up you'll get it.
You were right on the first part. I didn't get it early.

Hopefully you're right on the second part as well. I have a feeling that you will be.
I'm so relieved to hear this. :applause:
Darksiders PC is pretty good, yeah.

Just...make sure you have a X360 controller, if you want to play this one.
These action/adventure/platformer games just play better w/ them.
And since this was a console game at one time, yeah - this kinda goes w/ the territory.

I don't see why not. The daily deals have EA games, e.g. BFBC2 and Medal of Honor. Looks to me like there is a good possibility many of EAs biggest games will be a daily.

Purchased Magicka Complete Pack for $8.50

Was waiting on regular version to drop and this pack is too good to pass.
Heh I lol'd :p
Dem doubah negativez aint be foolin' no one!

Also, if anyone doesn't have BF BC2 go buy it! The only reason I didn't buy it on Steam is because I have a PS3 copy. One of my favorite FPS.

Patiently waiting for the new sales :)
Am I the only one that wants to spend money on some good sales ? :p
Everyone seems to hate themselves for buying some cheap games.
We hate ourselves because we did the same damn thing last year, and the year before that lol! :bouncy: Not only that, but most of us have backlogs as far as the eye can see, and yet here we are buying more and more games. It's a true love/hate relationship! :D
Am I the only one that wants to spend money on some good sales ? :p

I don't have myself, my wallet hates me when I has nothing in it, my body hates me when I have to wake up at 7 am on a holiday to work OT to pay for it. I would probably have worked on the holiday anyways, 35 bucks an hour? Yes please.

i really am hoping Doom 3 gets down to $5...I am also probably the only person who hopes Dive to the Titanic goes down too...
Who wants to bet that today's sales will be a rehash of previous ones?
Aren't they always? How many times has HL2 been on sale? But the games get a bit cheaper each sale and there are plenty of new games that haven't been this cheap to make people happy.

In my case, I'm conflicted because every time I spend any money on games, it's coming out of my Portland Retro Gaming Expo fund, and as a classic game collector, every dollar counts.

My money's on a pretty strict budget thanks to my wife and Dave Ramsey.
What if they did a sale where you choose what you want on sale, %85 off any one item, people would lose their minds....lol
I would implode.

I would make 50 steam accs lol.
11 minutes before the site goes to hell again. :D
We know it will happen, yet people will still run around yelling, "HEY! Why is Steam broken? Why can 't they get their shit together?"
