I've been playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for all of February. Holy crap does that game have a ton of pointless side quests. I may have to give up my OCD ways and just power through the main quests and factions.

I've got 230 hours in DA:I, does that count? Granted probably 10 of that was in character creation, maybe another 10 of me making something to eat and probably 20+ just messing around with different builds. It may not be as strategic/tactical as Origins, but for me the combat fun factor being more fluid is a plus. (And giving Sera Flask of Lightning is just hilarious.)

I get what it IS, just that anyone who actually cares about PC gaming can already hook their computer up to a TV. Anyone who wants their PC to just be a plug-n-play console isn't going to be impressed by the available offerings on Linux nor the cost -- and the whole "but you can stream from your Windows box" schtick is for the first type of people, not the console-wannabes.
I've always felt like they're doing it wrong with this whole Steam Machines thing. I agree that the Linux library is just way too limited right now. The streaming piece is useful but only for people who already have relatively decent rigs and not for $400+.

Instead of making some nichey Alienware devices that like 3 ridiculous people with money to waste will buy for bragging rights, I think they'd be better off doing something along the lines of the PSTV. Make a low cost device, like Raspberry Pi or something, have it do streaming over wifi and then maybe let it do some non-taxing indie Linux stuff on the device itself.

If it's over $100 then just no. I don't care how much Gabe thinks the sky is falling because Microsoft made an app store for desktop Windows (which hello no one uses), nobody is going to pay a lot for a Linux box. However if there's a cheap Linux device out there that gets into a fair degree of hands it might encourage more indies to make games for it.

Also on a semi related note but mostly a whole nother tangent, if Valve is going to continue to let all that RPG Maker crap in then for the love of all that is holy they need to get with the Japanese and get them out of 1992 to get that damned engine to run on Linux, and Mac, and more importantly run at resolutions above 640x480 and work with the damned overlay.

I get that it's popular because it's basically the coloring book of game creation, but we shouldn't be buying (or getting in bundles) new games at 640x480 in 2015.

my 4 in Feb:

Borderlands 2 - only headhunter dlcs remaining. Not sure, if they are worth playing and my co-op bro doesn't have them.

Metal Gear: Rising Revengeance - FUN FUN FUN

Dungeon of the Endless - Finished on easy. ;) 10/10, will play again with other ships

Murdered: Soul Suspect - started to play, because my inner CAGness felt threatened by chance of its appearance in $1 tier of Humble Bundle before I even installed the game. Finished it, because it was better then I expected.

They are about an hour each. I enjoyed the Halloween themed HH DLC the most, but either way it isn't a huge investment of time.
Do them if you're looking to kill a little time. However, you're not missing anything major if you don't.

Apparently I did Four in February without thinking about it.

  • Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell
  • Hammerwatch
  • Lara Croft & The Temple of Osiris
  • Killer is Dead
  • Diablo 3 RoS: raising a new seasonal toon to lv70

I've spent more time playing Monster Hunter 4 U since launch (2 Friday's ago) than I've played video games all month.

The Order (PS4)

MH4U (not quite beat but I did beat the main antagonist's final form) (3DS)

Fishdom Seasons (iPad)

Craft the World (iPad)

Um, I finished Social Justice Warriors because it's like 3 minutes long basically. You just reply to trolls until you die eventually. Does that count?

Uh, you can play Fishdom and Craft the World on the PC ya know. :p
Oh I do.. thanks to you I have all of them on the stupid app on here. But I got seasons for the ipad so I could play when I'm working. Whereas I'm still working on 2 on the PC and didn't finish it so didn't count it.

Is this $15.99 sale at Amazon the lowest Sim City (2013) Complete Edition has been?

It's got multiple entries at ITAD and I guess there's boxed and buying the base and expansion/dlc separately to consider too so I'm too lazy to sift through all that.

Anyone attest for M&MX? If so is the legacy deluxe worth it?
Deluxe comes w M&M VI so that alone makes it worth it to pay a little extra for Deluxe to me.

I'm assuming the version sold on Uplay isn't Steam though? You might want to wait for a sale elsewhere. Macgamestore I think has already had it as a Steam key for that price several times.

Which they only bothered to do because they were shutting the online down, right?
Tbh I didn't pay attention if they were taking the servers down or not. I want to say they're still up but Hal would know better I think.

I know they spun it like they were listening to fan feedback but if that were the case it shouldn't have taken them a year to do and multiple denials that it was even possible.

While I get that people dislike being forced to do anything, I find that I don't care about things like always online.  I don't care because, well, I'm ALWAYS online. :)

Most people are, but you have the tin foil hat wearing kind that worry about the one time they want to play and can't because ISP is down for an hour.

I got bored about halfway through. It's not bad but fairly shallow and unpolished in every aspect. That said it'll still probably give you 15-20 hours of so of entertainment before you hit the wall.

I don't normally dislike games just because they are always online. I do dislike that games like SimCity are drastically changed just to be always online.

I hate all games that are always online. I don't want Obama and his NSA goons recording my game play behavior and deciding that I'm a target for his socialist jihad and putting me on his spy drone Muslim Obamacare hit list!

That's why I just post online.

Could be something else other than the ISP.

Maybe the game's servers are down for maintenance, servers got hit w/ DDOS, or God knows whatelse.

EDIT:

I do dislike that games like SimCity are drastically changed just to be always online.
Typical MysterD response about DRM, forcing games to be always online when it ain't needed, etc....

Bingo. D3 on PC doesn't need to be always online either.

The game can be solo'd w/ AI bots, never having another player join you if you set it as such.

Plus, console versions don't have always online DRM.

Regardless, D3 w/ RoS + Loot 2.0 Patch is a great game on the PC - and it's certainly still worth it, if you can get it cheap enough + have a decent Net connection.

And RoS's Adventure Mode is a game-changer, to say the least.

I don't normally dislike games just because they are always online.
I loved Guild Wars 2 when I played it in Beta; really liked TSW (once after it was out for a while) - and those were built from the ground-up to be MMO's.

ESO when in Beta sucked, though.

I played... ummmm... Resident Evil Revelations 2: Chapter 1 or somesuch in February.  Also a crapton of Insurgency and I'm not even sure how that happened.

So that's my one and change for February.  Suck it, February -- you're not the boss of me. :nottalking:

How was RE: Rev 2 Chap 1, if you don't mind me asking?

I only finished in Feb:

TWD: S2 (specifically Ep4+5 during Feb; finished 3 previous episodes in the end of January)

Killer is Dead: Nightmare Ed.

I was also on + off playing FF13, during Feb, surrounding those titles. That's been my on + off game, since I bought it back around Thanksgiving 2014. Who knows when I'll finish it, since I seem to keep buying games, playing those games, then putting FF13 to the side for a bit, and then eventually crawling right back to it.

My Four in February: Peasant Edition (which comes with extra costume DLC, brand new 20 minutes of story content, and bug fixes for the modest sum of $39.99 $49.99 $69.99 for the eXclusive steelbook edition)

PS4

Wolfenstein: the New Order - surprisingly fantastic.

Shadow Warrior - Again, tons of fun

The Order: 1886 - Better luck next time, Sony.

Infamous: Second Son - pffffffttt. Uncharted 4 better not suck, too, god damn it. I will cry into my Wii-U tablet.

I played that on the PC.

Yeah, I agree - Wolf: TNO was awesome.

At the risk of inciting more MysterDRM rants, I don't really consider D3 the same thing as SimCity 2013 with regard to always online.

I played the old Diablos back in the day when there were offline versions and trainers and crap and it was a mess with all sorts of cheating that spilled over into the online version. Never had any issues with D3. Also, it is a game where you can, and it's encouraged to, actively play with other people vs that Facebook style SimCity crap where you visit your friend's farm city and trade turnips or whatever.

I consider Diablo 3 to be a (not Massively) Multiplayer Online game whereas I look at SimCity 2013 as the first and only Facebook game with an AAA budget.

Or maybe the game stop making $, gets its plug pulled, and its toast forever.

Hold on, while I go stare at my retail copy of Tabula Rasa, w/ it disc being a nice coaster and all.
That's what you get for listening to anything Richard Garriott said after 1993.

It's alright. Pretty good, really although various people have complained of various technical glitches. I was getting stutters and screen lock-ups until I switched the fps setting from "Variable" to a locked 60 fps. There's also a big to-do about there not being local co-op despite the insinuation that there would be so a lot of the negative reviews on Steam are solely about that and not really about the game itself. Personally, local co-op was never on my radar.

The game itself is fun provided you're on board with the usual Resident Evil silliness. I mean, most of the lines are hokey but you have your usual puzzles and locked doors and a fair number of monsters trying to kill you. The secondary player AI is pretty lousy in terms of actually helping but, on the other hand, it's not some fragile escort mission either. The biggest issue with it is that it's short. Even for a "Chapter 1", much of it is taken up with setting the plot and showing cut scenes so the main characters don't really get to do a whole lot. Hopefully, Chapter 2 can jump into the action sooner and add more into the game. I've replayed the story for achievements and can blow through the first half of it (Claire/Moira) in no time now. On the plus side, there's a "Raid Mode" where you direct a character through killing 40 zombies or whatever in different settings so, if you just want to get your monster killing on, it's a fun and competent game for it. Again, that mode has "coming" co-op (online though I believe, not local) but I'm happy clearing old schools and apartment buildings solo. It's got a ton of guns and upgrades and skills, etc so there's a lot of replay factor there as you wait between chapters or just complete the main story.

For the $6, I'd almost say it's kind of worth it for the Raid Mode if you like zombie murdering with the story as an afterthought but hopefully the coming chapters help bulk it up. Chapter 2 comes out on March 3rd so not much of a wait.

I actually had to look up if the same dev was making the new Doom title.

They're not, and I'm worried again.
MachineGames (who developed Wolf: TNO) are a bunch of the core Ex-Starbreeze dev's that worked on Riddick: Butcher Bay.

And well - yeah, Riddick: Butcher Bay was awesome.

About Doom 4 - that's been rumored to have been in development Hell for a while. That's what has me worried about it. I hope Id Software can find their way out of this. I really liked RAGE, even despite its numerous issues.
