Just went out for wing wednesday and they accidentally gave me a double order, so I only had to pay for what I had asked for...24 wings for 5.50.

Can't wait to see what goes horribly wrong tomorrow as the universe attempts to even this out

There's still a few days left on the temple of osiris giveaway on steam gifts.  If any thread regulars want in shoot me a PM.

I enjoy how that one pointing out that Dark Souls is nothing like Devil May Cry or God of War got some so upset.  I don't care if anyone loves or hates the game, but Dark Souls, as been clarified by many others, is not one of those games.  But hey, let's throw internet hissy fits and call names.  That's what the internet is for! :D

Also, thanks for the update I read earlier on DR2:OTR.  I can finally activate it on Steam.

bet i hurt your whore feelings

Don't know. I'm still in the midst of my Skyrim re-re-re-re-re-re-re-∞-playthrough. But, now that I know my install is stable
Jealous. Just installed Skyrim on the new computer and it's not playing nice. Think I need to calibrate my .inis, but i'll probably just impulse buy a newish video card tomorrow when i'm in the medium city. Pretty sure that will solve all my problems.

Downloading Triad Wars ;)
Even more jealous!

Uh...

Here's what EAs DRM is doing, EA don't just verify the number of PCs you work on slash use, nope .. they dare to monitor hardware changes inside your PC now, which I am sure is a privacy breach on many levels.
Monitoring your hardware isn't a privacy breach. Any software program can access a list of what hardware is currently installed if it's designed that way. If what this person said was the case then every game that allows you to choose a different game controller, video card, or sound card in the options would be breaching your privacy.

Checking if you've done something to the computer isn't a privacy breach. They're not actively crawling your hard drives or RAM for stuff they don't approve of (virtual drive software, cheat tools, memory scanners / modifiers, etc.). They're using the information that all versions of Windows can give applications that have the proper admin rights.

I disagree with the limited activations, don't get me wrong. That's bullshit. But this isn't a privacy breach.

It took me about 2-3 weeks to pick the mods I wanted , then comb through to see what was compatible with what, pick another set of mods that would actually work then download, install, patch, and watch it crash after the Bethesda logo. Without TES5Edit, I'd have been pulling my hair out for sure. I'm running 5 mods that require patchers, so it's a lot more micromanagement then my last install. I went with Perkus Maximus this time as my overhaul and I really like it. I had about 220 mods initially selected and ended up with about 180 that would play nice. Good luck with the new card. That is the reason I'm replaying Skyrim is to finally see what it's like to run with an ENB and it really is a game changer visually.

Also, if anyone wants a little Dark Souls in their Skyrim, try out Inferno- Envoys of End. It's pretty brutal. As in I had to uninstall it because my level 12 Nord was being one shot'd across the map.

Sorry but watching someone act like an idiot and play a character just doesn't cut it for me.
Sort of but not really related, but whatever reason the Let's Plays I've found that aren't someone acting like an idiot or playing a character are mostly British. The American ones, so far, seem either to be stupid or 14 and only know of one person that does them in English and from the rest of Europe, and he falls into the idiot/character thing.

To be the pro-Let's Play person (since don't seem to be any/many around here), I find them to be fun to watch someone else play a game you already have or to get an impression on a game you haven't played yet. Some tycoon/city builder/strategy games I find fun to watch even if I haven't played it, but it still is more entertaining if I at least own the game and can play it (mainly new ideas to try and all that). If you don't own the game, I find it hard to see the enjoyment in watching someone play unless they are REALLY entertaining. I've done it twice and it was okay, both story based games. One could only be bought off e-bay (so eff that) and the other was just listening to shit and walking around anyways so meh.

So you're saying that I should do a Let's Play?

That's a terrible idea. Have you ever heard the East Yorkshire accent? It's what they speak North of The Wall.

You know, I'm not sure that's how somebody with 19 posts wants to introduce himself to the Steam thread. But what do I know?
I've seen much worse on here in the short time since I discovered CAG, so let's not lose any sleep over my posts or my post count. All in fun.

Sim City Complete on GG is 66% off at $13.60. According to ITAD this is the lowest it has been to date tied with one other time when it was that price on GG on Boxing Day last year.

I played part of HL2 once a few years ago.  I was underwhelmed as evidenced by my use of the phrase "part of".  I found it poorly paced (hello, forever long boating sequence) and not terribly engaging.  I actually started a thread elsewhere asking about it because it's so praised that I couldn't see what I was missing.  The usual response was "Well, you sorta had to be there when it was new because all the good parts have been done better in other games since".

I wouldn't say it's "overrated" if it played a significant part in today's gaming but I didn't find it worth my time to play through today.  I'm sure it still has its bright spots (blah blah gravity gun) but I think there's better shooters.

never played a half-life game, are they good games or overrated.
How long is a piece of string?

I enjoyed HL1 incredibly back in the day when it first came out (17 years ago). I thought it's AI scripting, plot, etc. all gave a really cool, immersive experience. Without spoiling it, the endgame levels kinda sucked. How well does it stand the test of time? Dunno, I think it's been given an update (Half Life Source?) so maybe that gave it a bit more life.

I was really excited when HL2 came out, played partially through it and got stuck/bored...never went back. Not sure what it was about HL2, too much driving in SpeedBuggy? Been thinking about going back though and playing it...so maybe HL2: Update will pull me back in for a proper runthrough....

While a lot of Syntax Error's flaws in the game are true, I still liked HL2. Personally I think nearly every game Valve makes is overrated, although I still enjoy them . HL1 is somewhat dated at this point, and I'd only really recommend it for historical purposes or if you're a huge fps fan. HL2 holds up fine today. Oddly enough, the first time I played it I wasn't too into it, then I played it again a few years later and I really enjoyed it. The boating sequence is a drag, the load times are annoying, etc. Speaking of the gravity gun I get so sick of hearing about that...great you can pick things up and throw them. I guess it was revolutionary tech at the time but really after using it in the ravenholm level the novelty completely wore off, not sure why people go on and on about it. To summarize, overall though HL2 holds up fine, and although it probably isn't packed with as much raw fun as something like the new Wolfenstein game might be, it's still definitely worth playing, imho. HL1 not quite as much. Old shooters like Doom are still worth playing because of the gameplay contrast to modern shooters (the shoot everything circle strafe approach is pretty rare these days), but a big reason HL1 was a hit was because it was innovative and kind of got away from that, as it's one of the first games to represent the less chaotic, story focused shooters of today. It's not bad but there are better ways to spend 15 hours or so of your time.

I disagree, I think HL1 holds up pretty well today for as old as it is. I played it maybe 2-3 years ago and had a blast. Didn't enjoy it as much as HL2, but still a good game.

On the "You had to be there" front, I probably would have found the gravity gun more innovative if I hadn't played Darkness II prior.  I mean, I understand that the latter was no doubt influenced by the former but that doesn't make throwing saw blades and paint cans around any more "new" after you just stapled a bunch of dudes with thrown rebar and cut them in half with flung car doors.

I mean, I think it holds up decently considering its age (I didn't play it and think "god this is unplayable") but I didn't have a blast with it either. Overall I did like it, but it's not a game I would necessarily recommend somebody play. There are a lot of games out there that I just think are a lot more fun.

I loved HL1. HL2 is awesome, but... that boat sequence. I can't think about HL2 without remember that sequence, it was so boring and endless. I was playing the game again recently until I reached that part. Stopped playing it immediately.

Yeah it REALLY drags. Unfortunately when I think of HL2 the boating sequence is the first thing that comes to mind, and its always a deterrent for me to replay it.

Now when I think of HL2, morans in the Steam thread complaining about the boat sequence will be the first thing that comes to mind. h8 u gaise
