I appreciate the info. I have $50 of rewards points mainly from the July events, but they don't expire for a while (around October) and I'm hoping to earn enough for a bit more in the ARP shop before purchasing. I'll keep that monitor in mind and bookmark it for now.

Last time I redeemed some DRP from Alienware, the expiration date resets once you transfer to Dell, so that can give you more time.

And for those that may be unaware, you can currently buy up to 5000 DRP for ARP in the marketplace four times a year now (it resets on schedule). I wait until just before it it is ready to reset in the market to purchase, then wait to convert to Dell Dollars near its expiration time like DD83 suggested. I'm hoping for a sale on the S3422DWG at around BF to get another for my wife for "free".

30XX 70% off at $5.99. Could be a price error on Steam, and I do recommend the game for Mega Man/Zero fans.

Also Steam Fighting Games Fest free stuff (avatar, frame, sticker).

I think they meant to put 20XX on sale for that percent and mixed the two up. Either way, nice deal.

Edit; Yep, looks like that is the case.

Ubermosh Collection on Steam is 90% off at 49 cents:
I think the bigger question is do you need any Ubermosh haha. I have black and will likely just try that. They all look the same.

Yep good to go. I would download the recovery image off steam and have it either on a flash drive or sd card that can connect via usb-c you'll need that once you install it.

I don't remember if it was this thread, but a few weeks ago someone was talking about a way to permanently shut off Steam game auto updates. Does anyone have any info about that?

I used to do this sort of thing for mods on Borderlands games, but haven't done so in a year or two. It is annoying how much they push people to update their games before playing.

Ok so Emudeck vs Batocera vs Emulation Station vs Retrodeck. Anyone recommend one over the other? I would like something fairly simple to setup. I'm not really wanting to tinker and go too in depth with settings/ management. Hoping to insert my SD card and start playing if that makes sense.

I don’t have experience with Retrodeck yet, but from what I’ve heard it has the least tinkering options but is also the most straightforward. I’m planning on installing it on my Steam deck soon though so I might have an update.

I do have experience with which I installed on my Legion Go though and it’s not bad. I’m not the most tech-savvy but it is pretty straightforward to install and drag and drop the roms into the pre-created folders. It can be a little overwhelming in terms of the sheer breadth of all the separate emulators that get installed though. There’s also a lot of customization settings and options as well but I really don’t mess with those.

Anyone familiar with leverless arcade “sticks”? I just received a Haute42 R-16, which looks kinda cool and sounds pretty popular on a google search, but I’ve never used a leverless before.

If Rufus doesn't work for you, I've been using etcher to write Bootable iso images to usb drives with success for a number of years now

Thanks I got it working last night. Every video I watched showed a screen that looked different than mine did. Had to click through a few other things to get to the os on my memory card. Booted up no issue once the file was found.

I use EmuDeck and it gets the job done for me well enough. Can't speak to it being better/worse than Retrodeck or anything else. I have multiple retrogaming devices/handhelds so the ability to transfer saves seamlessly into my Google Drive is handy if I want to take my game progress to a smaller device like the Miyoo Mini+/RG35XXSP or vice versa.

I'm jealous, ive been trying to win one. With next week free game F.I.S.T. that I wanted. Makes getting a pc handheld beneficial. Play fighting games aka MP games on it for free without a sub, free games without a sub, better deals without a sub, uncensored games.

I know this is more general, but EVO 2024, the fighting game tournament, is going on right now until Sunday 07/21/2024 and has streaming on Twitch. I didn't remember seeing a lot mentioning it on game sites, but it's always fun and the finals are always really nice to watch. There is also announcements generally after finals for certain games tournaments are over of characters usually.

Probably still in the honey moon phase, but after a couple of days with the steam deck it has become my favorite console. Can't believe how well some of these games run. Still need to figure out how to get emulation running. But Wish I would have gotten a steam deck sooner.
Edit: Question I upgraded my 64gb to a 1tb ssd. I flashed the os onto a micro sd card. I wanted to reformat the thing to put my games on it but is keeps saying access denied when I put it in my computer. Is the card useless now or is there a way to wipe it?

Yeah I'm still enjoying the deck I bought at launch. Mine still has an annoying audio problem coming out of sleep but all my other issues were resolved after upgrading the primary 64gb drive.

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Why is the os on your micro sd? You definitely want to run the os directly off the 1tb m.2 SSD you installed.

So after i swapped the ssd in my deck, from my PC I flashed the os to a micro sd to reimage steam on the console. After I got the steam deck up and running I pulled the sd card out and plugged it into my computer to reformat it and to put roms on it. But I keep getting an access denied pop up, I can't seem to do anything with the card now. Steam os is running off the ssd but it seems my micro sd card is now bricked or something.

Understood. Are you using an adapter to read it on the pc? Also I'm wondering about the means by which you're attempting the reformat. Assuming windows here. If following a prompt in file explorer doesn't work, try opening Disk Management (under control panel or just search) and reformat the partition of the microsd. It should be one of the options listed among your other drives when scrolling down.

Count me in as a newly minted member of the handheld gaming pc community. I bought the Asus ROG Ally Z1 (non-extreme) a couple of weeks ago. It has been quite enjoyable so far. I’m still working on getting everything setup and properly configured. Picked up a couple of game bundles during Steam’s summer sale.

The Steam Deck formats the micro sd card in a way (ext4) that can only be read by Linux devices. You would need to go into desktop mode on the Deck and format the card to Fat32 or exfat or ntfs to get Windows to recognize it again. I typically transfer files using a flash drive with USB C on one end and USB A on the other end in Desktop mode to avoid dealing with these issues.

I think this can be fixed from windows instead of desktop mode.

I suspect he could reformat with the windows disk format tool, or at worst fdisk from the windows command line to delete the existing partitions then initialize in the disk format gui.

You can do that as well if you are able to get the card to be visible in windows disk management. I thought it might be too complicated to have him do that or enter DOS command prompts to reformat the card.

I saw someone recommend a game called Factory Town Idle as being similar to Rusty's Retirement. This isn't a game I would normally ever consider, but there was a free demo. The demo hooked me. The game is really cheap, $3 Canadian, so I got it and have been playing for a few hours. It's not much to look at, a bunch of menus. But it's addictive and satisfying. It's resource management and trying to keep everything in balance, and they keep adding more stuff so you have to keep rebalancing things.

That's pretty long for a cat.

My one dog lived to be 23 somehow. Only reason I was able to even track the age was she was born around the same time as my niece.
